On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in Kane, Coudersport, Emporium and Ridgway. They tell us there were no related incidences to report either.

Two known male teen suspects are being charged for their involvement in an aggravated assault incident last evening in Johnsonburg at the Paper City Jubilee. According to Ridgway PSP the incident began when Richard Walker, 18, of Johnsonburg struck Andy Cherry, 18, also from Johnsonburg. When Johnsonburg Borough Police arrived they attempted to break up the two, when the reporting officer found himself in a scuffle with one of the teens on the scene. Walker was charged with aggravated assault, arrested and jailed on $10,000 bail.

Harassment yesterday afternoon in Duke Center was investigated by Kane troopers when Tamberlene States, 38, of Duke Center apparently used obscene words or threatened Mark Higley, 33, of Rixford. States was charged with one count of harassment.

And simple assault at the McKean County Prison Wednesday evening was investigated by Kane PSP after Todd Warham, 22, of Kane struck James Sisler, 32, of Bradford in the face, breaking the victim’s jaw. Simple assault charges are pending.

Representative Martin Causer has secured a $10,000 grant for use by Potter County’s Area Agency on Aging, run by Potter County Human Services. Funds will be used for the Home Delivered Meals Program.

The McKean County Prison will be a temporary home to a Bradford woman after she violated the welfare code and theft by deception. Debra Shirley, 46, will be required to perform over 100 hours of community service, in addition to spending time in prison. Assistant DA Christa Schott asked Judge Yoder for jail time, taking into consideration that Shirley took thousands in funds that were to be used by those who needed the assistance. Public Defender Ron Lagella asked the judge if repayment could be set up on a payment plan, to which Yoder replied that a hearing would need to be scheduled.

The Community Blood Bank states that warmer weather has brought out bikers and more drivers, resulting in more accidents and a more urgent need for blood donors to give the gift of life. To give blood, you can stop by the Community Blood Bank at 24 Davis Street in Bradford. Hours are Thursdays 3:30 to 7:30 and Saturdays 9:00 to 1:00.

Otto-Eldred School District will hold pre-school sign-ups May 11th and 12th. Candidates must be 4 on or before September 1st. When signing up at the elementary school, you’re asked to bring with you your child’s social security card and immunization records. Pre-registration can be made by contacting the school.

And a shoreline clean up at the Allegheny Reservoir will be held Saturday, May 13th. Pre-registration by May 11th is required by phoning 723-5180, ext. 225. You can also e-mail nwelker@fs.fed.us. Volunteers are to meet at Kinzua-Wolf Run Marina by 9:00am. And those helping are asked to dress for the weather as the clean-up will be held rain or shine and bring a lunch and gloves. Also, those under 18 must have parental consent.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday….DUI by a Bradford woman early this morning was investigated by Kane troopers. They tell us they stopped Darlene McMahon, 54, after a passenger in her car exited while McMahon was using an ATM at a bank in Bradford and relieved themselves. Charges are being filed.

Public drunkenness by a Bradford man year this morning was investigated by Kane troopers when they observed Bruce Haight relieving himself along Main Street in Bradford. Charges were filed.

Harassment by a Bradford woman against an Eldred woman was investigated by Kane PSP recently when Brandy Prescott, 20, of Bradford reportedly shoved Kendra Sturdevant of Eldred while the two were discussing a child along Indian Creek Road in Eldred Township.

An investigation into the theft of a Kersey man’s items between the 13th and yesterday continues by Ridgway troopers after someone loosened bolts on the front brakes of a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass owned by Richard Reese. Those involved also entered the victim’s garage, pouring motor oil into the cooling system of a 1990 Chevrolet Camaro. Damage is estimated at over $3,800.00.

Criminal mischief along Route 6 near Philips Street in Mount Jewett Monday or Tuesday was investigated by PSP there after someone tampered with a tire on a truck owned by Robert Hamilton. According to state police, the valve stem was tampered with, allowing the air in the tire to escape.

An Emporium man was cited after an incident Tuesday in the borough there. State police from their barracks tell WQRM Steven Malesovich, 45, was charged with criminal trespass, harassment and disorderly conduct after he entered the home of George Singer Jr and began a fight with the victim.

Theft at Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport is being investigated. State police from their barracks state that a resident there, Edmond Hanes, discovered he was missing over $200.00. Those with details are asked to contact PSP in Coudersport.

An Elk County employee cited personal reasons for her departure in a letter submitted to Elk County Auditor told a local paper recently when speaking on the resignation of Pam Logue. Logue’s name is one of several listed in filings against Elk County Commissioners over their running of Elk County.

And Kane PSP tell us they will be taking part in checkpoints throughout their coverage area next month. Sobriety checkpoints will be conducted in areas of high incidences of alcohol-related incidences.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in our listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.

DUI by a Sigel, PA man was investigated by Ridgway PSP last Friday. State police tell us they stopped Paul McConville Jr, 34 along Route 948 around 4:00pm for a traffic violation when they determined he was DUI. Charges were filed.

Walter Escobar-Vega, the Queens man allegedly involved with an Oswayo Valley teen, has plead guilty to the charges against him for his involvement with the teen. Escobar-Vega was arrested about 5 weeks ago by Olean police when he cited him and the girl at an Olean hotel. The two began having chat sessions through a popular chat room about 18 months ago. Escobar-Vega has also been charged by Coudersport based state police for his involvement with the Potter County teen. And federal charges against the accused are also pending.

The sale of Sena-Kean Manor to their current controlling company, Complete HealthCare Resources was approved by County Commissioners in their Tuesday meeting, with County Controller Tom Ball disapproving mainly for the reason of the belief a better price could have been received for the facility.

Top-ranking officials with PennDOT have publicly apologized for the April 5th protest which may have caused many of the weather related traffic incidences in our area. There was a delay of three hours in getting area state roadways cleared of fallen snow as employees protested over promotions and managing practices. An investigation into the matter continues.

And the Allegheny National Forest has announced that leek picking on ANF property is legal for personal consumption. Picking leeks for commercial use is permitted, but with a permit. And there are several areas where leek picking is not permitted. For more information or a permit, phone the ANF at (814) 723-5180, ext. 162.

On the traffic and accident scene over night and yesterday…a 2 vehicle accident just after 2:00pm yesterday along Route 255 was responded to by troopers from the Ridgway barracks. The incident occurred as Lawrence Scull, 68, of Force was pulling onto Route 255 from a private driveway when he struck the front of a 2000 Ford Contour operated by Robin Gerber, 55, of Kersey. Both drivers escaped injury.

Helen Sekelsky of Johnsonburg told Ridgway PSP recently that someone apparently removed 10 used wooden pallets from her property between Saturday and Monday. No additional information was released by PSP.

Ridgway troopers tell WQRM a gun was misplaced somewhere in the vicinity of Route 255, 948 or 219 Sunday.

And Theft by unlawful taking occurred as someone removed boxes of coppers parts from Elco Sintered Alloys Company in Kersey between the 21st and the 23rd of this month. Ridgway troopers continue their investigation.

Escapee Ralph "Bucky" Philips remains a fugitive of justice as of last evening, after escaping from a New York prison 3 weeks ago. Philips was seen mid-month in Bradford, but may now be in the Allegany, NY area.

The McKean County Prison is now staffed by a full-time nurse. The County Salary Board hired Port Allegany resident Randall Andreano to fill the position. By law, the facility must employ a nurse if the prison population is over 75, which the McKean County prison exceeds by 7.

Motorists in the Dents Run area of the Elk State Forest can expect delays beginning today, as work is being done on Porcupine Road with trucks using Winslow Hill Road for the delivery of stone for the work being done. Further information can be obtained through the Elk State Forest office in Emporium.

And a meeting of all committees will be held to discuss the Moving Wall’s arrival to Smethport in May. The meeting is scheduled for tomorrow at 6:30pm at the Smethport American Legion.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…A Lewis Run woman was not injured in an accident Saturday along Route 469, just off Westline Road in Lafayette Township. Kane based state police tell us Danielle Rodriguez, 32, was operating a 1997 Ford escort eastbound when her car entered the south berm. While over correcting, Rodriguez crossed Route 469 and struck a tree. Rodriguez was cited for the incident.

A 17 year old St. Marys teen was traveling west on the Old Kersey Road Saturday when he lost control of his 2000 Lincoln, sending it onto thr4 shoulder before it struck an embankment. No injuries were reported according to Ridgway based state police who responded.

A two vehicle accident along Route 255, Fox Township occurred Saturday just before 8:00am. State police from the Ridgway barracks tell WQRM Martin Hinchcliffe Jr, 63, of Ridgway was operating a 1995 Ford Explorer when he crossed the center line for an unknown reason, entering the path of a 2004 Toyota Camry driven by Floyd Tucci, 79 of St. Marys. Hinchcliffe’s vehicle struck the front end of the Tucci vehicle before Tucci’s vehicle exiting Route 255, striking a tree. Hinchcliffe’s vehicle came to rest across the northbound lane of Route 255.Hinchcliffe was cited by PSP for driving on the wrong side of the roadway. Both operators received some injuries.

And SDUI by an Ebensburg man Saturday morning shortly after 1:30am was investigated by Coudersport based state police after they stopped Randy Connah, 50, along Route 872, just south of Bailey Run Road in Wharton Township. Charges were filed.

The scattering of rubbish along Sandy Beach in Elk County is under investigation by Ridgway PSP. Those with further details are asked to contact PSP.

A 56 year old Coudersport woman was taken into custody Saturday afternoon for her involvement in a retail theft incident at Jubilee in Coudersport. Coudersport based PSP tell us Frances Carpenter attempted to removed several small items from the store just before 5:00pm. Charges were filed.

An Austin camp was illegally entered between January 8th and this past Friday. Coudersport troopers stare that someone used an unknown object to force their way into the Twin Mountain Camp along Costello Road. Those with information are asked to contact PSP in Coudersport.

Harassment of a Genesee Township woman by a Genesee Township man Friday afternoon was investigated by Coudersport troopers after Eric Schweigart, 36, verbally threatened Mary Leyrer. Charges were filed.

Connie’s Market in Harrison Valley was the location of a reported theft as three juveniles stole 2 packs of cigarettes a week ago.

And over 200 are to graduate from Pitt-Bradford this coming Sunday during commencement activities at 2:00pm. The commencement address will be given by owner of Joetta Sports and Beyond, Joetta Clark-Diggs.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to state police checks from Kane, Emporium, Coudersport and Ridgway. There were no related incidences to report either.

A Ridgway man was the victim of a fire early yesterday morning as fire destroyed a 32 x 40 foot seasonal residence owned by Anthony Keller. A family dog was credited with saving Keller’s life, as there were no smoke detectors in the home. No injuries were reported.

Timber theft from a Beaver Falls man’s property along Laurel Lake Road in Spring Creek Township, Elk County is under investigation. Ridgway based state police tell WQRM an undetermined amount of trees were taken from property owned by David Grimm between January 6th and Wednesday of this week.

Minor injury to a Ridgway man’s passenger was reported by Ridgway PSP after an accident Tuesday along Route 948, just south of Route 219 in Ridgway Township. Benjamin Buck, 22, was operating a 1998 Hyundai Elantra northbound when he struck a bear, causing moderate damage. Jennifer Defoire, 24, was not wearing a seatbelt and received minor injury. Buck was not injured.

No injuries were reported in a vehicle fire Star Hose Company personnel rolled to on Open Brook road last evening. It only took those on the scene several minutes to extinguish the fire. No details were released as to the owner of the vehicle.

Escapee Ralph Philips, 43, is still on the run according to updated reports. Philips escaped from the Erie County Correctional Facility several weeks ago. A report if Philips being seen in the Great Valley area was confirmed a week ago. Philips was last seen in black nylon pants, a camouflage jacket and white sneakers, using a camouflage backpack. He’s a 6 foot tall Native American, 235 pounds with brown hair and a ponytail and possibly a 4 day growth of facial hair.

And the state’s DOT will place a radar controlled speed sign along Osterhout Street in Ridgway Borough Monday, at the request of the borough. Borough police will also be monitoring the same section.

Checking PennDOT’s schedule for the upcoming week…weather pending, work will be done by HRI Inc from Ridgway to Johnsonburg at the north end of the project.

Officials with St. Bonaventure University turned down an offer by Byllye Lanes owner Steve Fledman to build a bowling alley on University property. The alley would have been situated near the Country Inn and Suites on Route 417. The Olean area has been without a bowling alley since the passing last year of the owner of the allies in Olean, Cuba and Bolivar.

In other business news, a Quiznos will open today at the Value plaza on West State Street in Olean. Bruce and Linda Heineman of Arcade or the owners.

Potter County and the PA Wilds is set to be ‘explored’ by National Geographic Explorer in the May edition of the popular magazine. Members of the Potter County Visitor’s association traveled earlier to New York City, representing "The Wilds" and Potter County. A map was released by N.G.E. in 2005 highlighting several Potter County destinations, including the PA Lumber Museum.

A spaghetti dinner benefit for Richard Bucholz will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm Sunday at Myra’s in East Smethport. Bucholz is recovering in Erie from a December heart attack. Cost of the dinner is $6.00.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in our listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.

Simple assault yesterday afternoon was investigated by Coudersport troopers after a 16 year old reportedly was involved with Warren Hanes Jr, 42, of Genesee along Bingham Road in Genesee Township. The teen reportedly threatened Hanes with a gun before being apprehended by troopers. The teen was later taken to the Wellsboro Juvenile Probation center.

Charles Carlson of Kane was cited by Kane PSP after he was observed relieving himself along Route 66, north of the Elk County line on Saturday. Carlson will be charged with public drunkenness.

And Coudersport based state police tell us they have several items which can be claimed by phoning the barracks and describing. If these items are yours you’re asked to contact the barracks…they have a staple gun, roofing nailer, circular saw, sawzalls, plastic tote and a 110mm circular saw.

A Pittsburgh area man has been named to the position of chief of police in Emporium. Castle Shannon resident Rufus Jones was given the position, being one of 10 that applied for the opening. Jones is currently employed through the US Postal System.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in Kane, Coudersport, Emporium and Ridgway. There were no related incidences to report either.

The signing of papers for the purchase of a county owned facility may come as early as mid-summer. A deal reportedly worth $3 million is on the table for the sale of SenaKean Manor, situated along Route 6 in Smethport. An agreement between the county and McKean Care Realty LP was initially inked in late March of last year.

Dissolving of the McKean County Solid Waste Authority is one step closer to becoming reality. According to Commissioner Egbert, a final agreement is almost completed. Of the issues being ironed out in the steps being taken now, include indemnity for SWA board members against any law suits.

Senator Joe Scarnati will hold hours for his constituents in Bradford at the chamber office Friday from 11:00am to Noon, in Lewis Run from 10:00 to 11:00am and in Kane from 12:30 to 1:30pm.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday...state police in our listening area report that all was quiet on the traffic and accident scene. There were no related incidences to report either.

Harassment is being investigated by Coudersport state police after a Gaines man reportedly verbally harassed and threatened John Calaman, 59, of Galeton on Monday. State police continue their investigation where Trent Lehman, 27, said he’d harm the victim while at the Dollar General Store around 8:00pm.

A one vehicle crash Sunday in Gibson Township, Cameron County left a passenger sent to Altoona. State police from Emporium tell WQRM Jeffery Labelle, 50, of Punxsutawney was operating a 2006 Yamaha Royal Star when his breaks locked while trying to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him. A passenger, 41 year old Phyllis Quick was not wearing a helmet was had to be flown to Altoona. A traffic violation is pending against Labelle.

Criminal mischief on Friday or Saturday in Shippen Township was investigated by Emporium PSP after someone egged a home owned by Joan Fragale along Route 46.

Simple assault was investigated by Emporium troopers after Philip Brown, 44, of Emporium reportedly broke a fan, causing a part of the fan to hit the victim, 45 year old Patricia Brown.

Public drunkeness by an Emporium man Thursday left Vaughn Lewis, 44, detained for some time by state police there. Lewis was also cited by PSP.

Someone attempted entry into a seasonal residence along Telescope Road in Ulysses Township according to Coudersport PSP who continue their investigation. According to the report issued, someone removed a security screw and attempted to pry open a door before giving up and leaving. Those with further details are asked to contact state police.

A fugitive from the Erie County correctional facility is still on the run as of last evening. Ralph "Bucky" Philips, 43, was last seen in the Bradford area, according to confirmed reports. Details on what Philips is wanted for, other than escape and a parole violation, are unclear.

No one was injured in a fire Star Hose Company personnel rolled to yesterday afternoon. A ¼ acre or so was burned on property owned by Neil Shepard of Port Allegany, with the origin unclear at this time.

Otto Township residents can expect an increase in their rate for township provided services. A $3.00 fee will be added beginning in July, with new coupon books going out to residents in June.

On the traffic and accident scene over the Easter weekend…Ridgway based state police responded to an accident in Wilcox Saturday Morning at the intersection of Clarion street and Route 321. According to state police reports, Alexander Szymanski, 89, of Wilcox attempted to cross Route 321 when he didn’t see a vehicle operated by Jeffery Maze, 23, of Kane. The Szymanski vehicle was hit on the left side. Charges are pending against both drivers and only minor injury was reported by a passenger in the Maze vehicle.

And Coudersport based state police investigated an accident along Breezy Hollow Road Saturday after the driver, Harvey Baldwin, left the scene around 4:00pm. Apparently Baldwin hit an embankment traveling 180 feet before going over an embankment.

And burglary in Keating Township has charges pending against 43 year old Jay Raymond of Smethport after he kicked in a door at the Robert Rittburg residence on Sunday. According to Kane PSP, an altercation took place before Raymond left the Rittburg residence Sunday morning around 3:30am.

Criminal mischief at the Wine and Spirits Store in Smethport remains under investigation after someone threw a rock through the front window yesterday morning. Kane based state police are investigating.

A fire at the Wolfel residence in St. Marys yesterday afternoon was determined to be accidental in nature according to Ridgway PSP who investigated with the assistance of the state police fire marshal. No injuries were reported.

A known male reportedly made harassing phone calls to Bonnie Sue Grey of Austin early yesterday morning. Coudersport PSP are continuing their investigation.

Nine hundred dollars in damage was done to a Smethport man’s vehicle Saturday between midnight and 2:00am as someone kicked several dents in a vehicle owned by Daniel Lawrence. Those with further details are asked to contact state police in Kane.

Charges are to be filed against an Olean man for trespassing on property belonging to a Shinglehouse man Saturday. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM Justin Smith, 27, also harassed Jason McClane before leaving the scene.

And a Johnsonburg man told state police someone apparently took $100.00 and 3 bottles of prescription medication while he was hosting a party Saturday morning. The investigation continues.

And an escapee of the Erie County Correctional Facility may have been cited locally. Ralph B. Phillips is wanted by NY authorities after escaping from the Alden facility April 4th. Nothing is certain, but Phillips may have been seen in several places in the Bradford area over the weekend. He is described as being a Native American male, 235 pounds, 6 feet tall with brown hair and a ponytail. He may also have 3-4 days of facial hair and a mustache. Residents are reminded to keep all doors locked and use common sense.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…according to our checks with state police in Kane, Coudersport, Ridgway and Emporium all was quiet. There were no related incidences to report either.

Criminal trespass Wednesday in Benezette was investigated by Ridgway PSP after someone entered an unlocked fruit cellar door at the residence of Christine Robinson. Nothing was reportedly taken.

Those traveling Route 219 in the Bradford area should expect more changes to traffic pattern next week. As the Bradford Bypass work continues, Mill Street is set to close. The close will be until further notice, according to PennDOT. Also, while lanes are widened, one lane will be closed from Elm Street to the Kendall Avenue exit area.

Queens resident Walter Escobar-Vega, who apparently had an inappropriate relationship with a teen is still being held in the Cattauragus County jail on $30,000 bail, pending federal charges. Escobar-Vega is being investigated by authorities from Queens, NY to Olean and Coudersport. Escobar-Vega was taken into custody March 19th in Olean at a hotel he and the teen were seen at. In nearby Cattauragus County he faces third degree charges in addition to endangering the welfare of a child.

Kane school officials would not comment on the exact reason for the resignation of a teacher and coach. However, they did say that Rich Bouch’s former positions were being filled by the district. Superintendent Sandra Chlopecki would not give elaborate details about the departure and the official reason. No comment was given on Bouch’s apparent two week’s off before his resignation.

And a Basic First Aid and Adult CPR course will be held at the American Red Cross chapterhouse April 19th. Pre-registration is required no later than Monday. The class begins at 5:30pm.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…A one vehicle accident along Rattlesnake Road yesterday afternoon left a Brockway man with minor injury as Donald Senior, 57, was traveling north when he lost control of his 1996 Nissan before the truck struck a tree and fence, spun and came to rest. Senior was cited for careless driving.

And Courtney Dangro of Roulette was the operator of a vehicle involved in a hit and run on the 8th according to Coudersport PSP. Dangro was driving along Route 607 when she struck an embankment before driving through private property and then leaving the scene. Witnesses identified Dangro and her passenger, Bradley Jones, also a Roulette resident. Dango has been charged with various traffic violations.

Identity theft by a known person between November 1st and Tuesday of this week occurred and is being investigated by Kane PSP as a known person may have used personal information from a known person to purchase several items. No further details were released by state police.

Fire of undetermined origin a month ago in Hamlin Township, 1 mile west of Lantz Corners left a Kane man with about $80,000 in damaged after Daniel Shields’ garage caught fire the afternoon of march 13th.

Criminal mischief in the parking lot of Kightlinger Excavating of Lewis Run occurred recently as someone entered the parking lot and spun their tires, striking a 2005 Chevrolet Dump Truck and breaking the windshield. Those involved then fled and anyone with further details is asked to contact PSP.

Harassment was investigated at the Appleby residents along Route 155 on Wednesday as Ronald Appleby apparently harassed his wife, Neola. Kane based state police investigated.

And theft from a Benezette residence on the 11th is being investigated by Ridgway PSP after someone took medication and an undetermined amount of money from the home of Christine Robison between Noon and 4:30pm.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…three accidents in our listening area occurred yesterday according to our checks with state police in our listening area.

Ridgway based state police responded to an accident along Route 219 around 3:00pm. Andrew Lewze, 19, of Ridgway was operating a 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier southbound while Susan Durham, 67, of Ontario, Canada was traveling north in a 2001 Volkswagen Golf. Lewze failed to stop for a vehicle making a left turn. He swerved to avoid the other vehicle only to enter the path of Durham’s vehicle. Durham’s vehicle hit the Lewze vehicle before impacting a sign, according to PSP. Both operators were using seatbelts and only Lewze received minor injury.

A 20 year old Ulysses man died as the result of an accident along Cowley Hill Road in Keating Township, according to Coudersport based state police. Ryan Snay was operating a 2002 Suzuki R-GSX Motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a right curve, crossed the westbound lane and struck a 1994 Jeep Cherokee operated by John Erskine, 43, of Emporium. Upon impact, Snay was thrown from his bike…landing in the westbound lane. He was pronounced dead by Potter County Coroner Kevin Dusenbury. Erskine was not injured.

A two vehicle mishap yesterday morning was responded to by Ridgway based state police shortly after 11:00am. The incident occurred as Janet Warmbrodt, 54, of Johnsonburg was operating a 1999 Subaru Impreza southbound when she approached the intersection of Mefferts Run Road and Glen Hazel road, failing to stop at a posted stop sign. The Warmbrodt vehicle then entered the intersection and the path of a 1999 Ford Taurus driven by Cynthia Braum of Wilcox. Following impact, both vehicle came to rest. Charges are pending against Warmbrodt and only minor injury was reported by Braum. Three passengers in the Braum vehicle also escaped injury.

In other state police news, troopers from the Coudersport and Emporium barracks will be out during the Easter weekend, which runs from Friday through Sunday.

Several overweight debris hauling trucks were cited yesterday morning by Ridgway based state police at Greentree Landfill.

Andrew Titus, 36, of St. Marys was the victim of a reported act of burglary s someone took 16 maple logs from his property between late November of last year and this past Sunday. The investigation into the $10,000 in missing timber continues by Ridgway PSP.

Official word from the McKean County Coroner on the identity of the man who perished in a fire on Champlin Hill road Sunday has not been released. However, in today’s Bradford Era, a James Bogardus is listed as having died in a fire Sunday.

A body found in Tuna Creek Sunday in Bradford has been identified as Alan Sheldon, 38, of Bradford. McKean County Coroner Mike Cahill listed the official cause of death as accidental in nature. No autopsy was performed according to those involved with the investigation.

Harassment Saturday has a Ulysses man in trouble after Guy Seeley, 34, made repeated phone calls to Cheryl William, also a Ulysses resident after Seeley was told not to do so by the victim. Seeley was cited by Coudersport based state police.

A know female reportedly took two checks from Gerald Desantis of Ridgway between March 31st and April 2nd. Coudersport based state police are investigating.

An unidentified Bradford School District employee may, according to reports, have a communicable disease. The unnamed custodian won’t be named under HIPPA laws.

Motorists are reminded to remove studded tires by April 15, or be prepared to pay a fine ranging from $35.00 to over $100.00.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday… DUI by an Emporium man this morning was investigated by Kane troopers after they stopped 24 year old Shane Goss of Emporium along Route 59 in Keating Township. Charges were filed.

DUI by a Lewistown man on Saturday was investigated by Coudersport based state police after Ryan Natanni, 18, was stopped along Thompson Road in Ulysses Township just before midnight. The accused was stopped for questioning over an incident of disorderly conduct at Pin Log motel when troopers found Natanni was DUI.

Charles Bova, 25, of Bradford was stopped along Route 346, at the Main Street intersection in Foster Township. Kane PSP conducted the stop just after 3:00am yesterday. Bova was stopped for traffic violations when troopers discovered the accused was intoxicated. Bova was charged with DUI.

DUI left a Lewis Run man arrested after Kane troopers stopped Michael Lipps, 43, for an equipment violation. A strong alcoholic odor was detected, Lipps was given 3 sobriety tests and then arrested after failing all three.

A fatal fire in Champlin Hill Road in Keating Township yesterday morning was responded to by Kane troopers after fire broke out just before 7:00am. Three fire departments were on the scene. The incident remains under investigation.

Disorderly conduct Sunday along Route 6 left a Lewistown man in trouble with Coudersport based state police after Brandon Rauch, 19, fired a 303 British rifle at a camp near the Pine Log Motel someone around 11:30pm Charges were filed.

Criminal trespass at Rick’s Used Auto Parts in Fox Township was investigated by Ridgway troopers Saturday when they determined the incident didn’t occur.

A Johnsonburg man was the victim of a reported incident of criminal mischief as someone damaged the driver’s side quarter panel of his 2003 Dodge Truck Saturday afternoon as the truck was parked at the St. Marys Wal-mart. Those with further information are asked to contact Ridgway PSP.

A 2 vehicle accident along Route 255, just north of Plum Street in Jay Township Saturday was responded to by Ridgway troopers just after 6:00pm. According to the report issued, Stephanie Partner, 41, of Holidaysburg had stopped when her 2002 Ford van was struck from behind by a 1999 Ford Van being operated by Michelle Ripple of Penfield. Only a 2 year old passenger in the Ripple vehicle received minor injury. Ripple was cited for following too close and failure to use a safety restraint device for a child.

Two 20 year old Ridgway residents were caught by Ridgway troopers consuming an alcoholic beverage on Millcreek Run. The incident occurred Saturday, just before midnight.

Two Kersey residents were the victims of a reported act of criminal mischief on Friday or Saturday when someone moved belongs of David and Wacinda Catalano of Lovers Lane, Fox Township. The person or persons involved also placed a sign on the victims’ carport door. The investigation continues and those with further information are asked to contact state police or Elk County Crimestoppers.

And simple assault against a known female juvenile on Friday left a Coudersport man jailed after Coudersport PSP charged Kevin Lunn, 24, with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. Lunn reportedly was involved in an argument with the teen when he pointed a loaded 9MM rifle at the victim.

A man, possibly in his mid-30’s was found in Tuna Creek, near the Sports Café in Bradford Sunday afternoon. The investigation continues and Bradford City police could only say that the death is being treated as accidental at this time.

Jay Township, Elk County is set to receive $180,000 tomorrow for use in the purchase of a new fire truck. The money is comprised of a loan for $85,000 with the remainder being a grant. Federal Representative John Peterson will be present to hand over a check to the fire department.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…according to our checks with state police in our listening area, all was quiet. There were no related incidences to report either.

Retail theft from the Emporium Sheetz was investigated by state police there after Tracy Charlton, 21, of Emporium placed an item from the store in her pocket and walked out of the store on Thursday.

Simple assault between two Duke center residents Wednesday occurred in Duke Center around 9:00am, according to Kane troopers who responded. The report issued states that Diane Carpenter, 43 and Danny Holly, 34, were involved in an altercation along Kansas Branch Road before the incident moved on to their residence. Carpenter was charged with harassment while Holly was taken into custody and charged with simple assault, harassment and resisting arrest. He was placed in the count jail on bail.

Emporium based PSP tell WQRM a crash occurred Wednesday morning, shortly before noon as Patricia Boothman of Dubois was traveling Route 120 when she lost control of her 1993 Buick LeSabre, sending the car into a culvert. Boothman received only minor injury to her hand, according to state police.

And a truck driver is wanted by state police after Claude Butler, 45, was asked to leave a residence in June of 2002. Following the choking of a man, Butler caused damage to the residence he was at, at the time. Butler has been known to frequent the Port Allegany and Eldred areas. He’s described as being a 5’6" white male with brown hair and blue eyes, weighing about 185 pounds. If seen you’re asked to contact PA Crimestoppers at 1-800-4PA-TIPS.

Following the irresponsibility of PennDOT surrounding the most recent snowfall, Representative Martin Causer contacted the DOT and was told that a full investigation is underway. Causer stated that his Bradford office received several calls about the situation

St. Bonaventure offices will be closed for Easter from Thursday through Monday of next week. Normal operations will resume Tuesday.

On the traffic and accident scene over night and yesterday…Cindy Austin of Eldred was the operator of a vehicle in an accident along Route 155, 5 miles north of Port Allegany yesterday morning. Austin was traveling 155 around 7:15 when she lost control of he vehicle on the icy roadway, sending her vehicle off the roadway and rolling. Austin and a juvenile passenger were wearing seatbelts. Both were taken to Charles Cole for treatment of minor injuries.

An accident along Route 155 yesterday morning left an Olean man uninjured after William Kcomt, 39, was operating a 2005 Toyota Tacoma southbound. Kcomt lost control of his truck on the icy roadway, sending it off the west berm and into the guidrail before it re-entered the roadway and struck a 1990 Freightliner driven by Joseph Tomaski of Weedville. Kane based state police tell us Kcomt has been cited in the inicndet.

A 27 year ood Kersey man has been cited for illegally entering the St. Marys Wal-mart Wednesday. Gerald McCracken was told by staff of the store not to return, however he did, according to Ridgway PSP who investigated.

Criminal mischief along Route 49 in Harrison Township on Wednesday is under investigation by Coudersport troopers after Timothy Prichard of Ulysses was operating a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer when he heard a popping sound and his passenger’s side window shattered. Pritchard was not injured and those with further details are asked to contact Coudersport PSP.

A non-reportable accident along Brandy Camp Road, just south of Route 948 is under investigation by Ridgway based state police after someone slid off Route 948 and caused minor property damage to someone’s property. Those with further details are asked to contact troopers in Ridgway.

Theft from property owned by a Lakewood, NY man’s property along Mason Hill Road in Gibson Township, Cameron County was investigated by Emporium troopers after someone removed about 2 cord of split firewood from Patrick Walker’s property.

A Port Allegany man was charged after he reportedly followed another Port Allegany man along Route 6 Sunday evening. Jason Saltsman, 34, was cited by Kane PSP after he reportedly followed Kevin Saulter, also of Port Allegany. Coudersport based state police investigated.

And those with further details on an incident at the Austin School ball field between March 30th and April 1st are asked to contact Coudersport troopers. According to PSP, someone pried open an Aquafina vending machine and removed around $100.00 in cash, in addition to causing around $250.00 in damages.

A dispute over promotions and managing techniques was possibly the cause of several accidents yesterday as PennDOT and agency leaders at the local level spend precious time arguing instead of clearing roadways after additional snowfall. During the complaining session, local road crews picked up the slack for the state.

Around 6,000 tons of nuclear ash won’t be making its home in Elk County any time soon. An official with the Onyx Greentree Landfill in Elk County sent out a notice, noting the decision to withdraw from the possibility of having the polluted ash dumped in Elk County had been made.

With a vote of 146 to 50, Pennsylvania’s minimum wage is one step closer to becoming realty. The house passed the bill, hiking the wage by $2.00 by July 2007. The increase does not apply to those working their first 60 days of employment who are under the age of 20.

Representative Martin Causer will hold constituent hours today from 11:00am to Noon at the Port Allegany Borough office. He will also be in Eldred from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.

On the traffic and accident scene, despite slippery roads, all was quiet according to our checks with state police in our listening area. We do have this to pass along…Route 219 from Lantz Corners to Route 770 is closed at this time. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route of travel. Also, we have a 2 hour delay for Smethport Area Schools this morning.

Disorderly conduct yesterday along Route 321 in Wetmore Township brought out Kane troopers after two teens were involved in an incident with a 16 year old. Reportedly, the 16 year old was running for track practice when he was approached by a 17 year old male in addition to 18 year old Larry Walters. Walters, according to PSP attempted to start a fight with the 16 year old. Both of the accused teens have been cited.

Ridgway based state police tell WQRM a box was found along Route 255 near the entrance to the St. Marys High School. The box contains part of a vehicle. For more information or to claim, contact the barracks and describe.

Fire of undermined origin is being investigated by the state police fire marshall after $1,000.00 in damage was done to a 1992 Ford pick-up owned by Jean Powley.

And another fire of undermined origin caused around $40,000 in damages for Anne Newcombe of Bradford after the fire occurred on Bellview Avenue in Bradford on Saturday. Kane troopers investigated.

Two 84 Lumber stores are being axed after company officials decided its in the best interest of the company to downsize and try to boost the bottom line by 2009 to $10 billion in sales. It was announced yesterday that the store in Olean and the one in Kane will close, eliminating as many as 12 employees. Company-wide, as many as 600 employees will be affected. According to a sign at the Lantz Corners location, that store will relocate to Falls Creek near Dubois. On a brighter note, officials are planning to open dozens of new stores in faster growing areas in as many as 20 states over the next 36 months. The company began in the late 1950’s in the town of Eighty Four.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…our checks with state police in Kane, Coudersport, Emporium and Ridgway turned up an all was quiet. There were no related incidences to report either.

Theft from a Wilcox woman’s front porch is under investigation by Ridgway troopers after someone removed a wicker chair from the front porch of Nancy Immke. The chair was then tossed over an embankment. Those with details can contact Ridgway PSP.

An investigation into the death of a Genesee resident continues by Coudersport troopers after Christa Stone, 31, was found in her home Monday morning. No further details have been released by state police at this time.

An accident along Route 6 in Pike township on Sunday was responded to by state police from the Coudersport barracks around 9:00pm. Apparently Arleen Baker, 44, of Galeton had been operating a 1995 Mercury Sable eastbound when she struck a deer. A passenger, 34 year old Christopher Kefover of Galeton was transported to Charles Cole for treatment of his moderate injuries while Baker was uninjured.

And An Eldred resident was injured in an accident March 31st along McCrea Brook Road, Ceres Township. Kane troopers tell WQRM Carrie Pearsall, 40, was operating a 1986 Honda Rebel 450 when it traveled onto the berm, struck an embankment and spun around before landing on Pearsall. She was taken to Olean General for treatment according to state police.

Fire at a Roulette business last evening brought out personnel from Roulette, in addition to 6 companies for mutual aid. The first cal went out around 9:20 for a reported fire at C&S Lumber Company on Main Street. A second call was made just after 10:30 for additional personnel. The cause of the fire was not immediately available.

Bids for Route 6 bridge work in Port Allegany will be received this fall, with demolition possible sometime around March. The two spans over the Allegheny River and the Norfolk Southern Railroad is expected to be finished by October of next year. Main vehicle traffic will be detoured onto Route 155 to Route 446, rejoining in East Smethport, while the bike route will continue on Route 6, then onto Brooklynside Road. Also, Brooklynside Road is expected to be widened to 24 feet according to Steven Fantechi of PennDOT. In other Port Allegany Borough Council news, Bill Burleson excused himself during the executive session of council when he learned it supposedly pertained to his and his wife’s suit against the borough over the 500 block development he wanted to begin some months ago. Burleson and the Council would not go into detail over what is going on pertaining to the suit filed.

The Old Jail Museum will open for the season today, from 1:00 to 4:00pm. It will then be open from 1:00 to 4:00pm Tuesdays and Thursdays through May. June’s hours will be Monday through Friday from 1:00 to 4:00pm. In August, hours will return to the Tuesday and Thursday schedule, with the season ending September 30th.

The Onyx Greentree Landfill in Fox Township is likely to be the final home to 12,000 cubic meters of nuclear-contaminated ash from the Pittsburgh area. The contaminated ash is currently under the "ownership" of Kiski Valley Water Pollution Control Authority. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Fox Township Supervisors is set for tomorrow evening at 6:00 in the Fox Township Building.

And a $10,000 reward is being offered for information pertaining to the fire which destroyed Fritz Auto Center on the Million Dollar Highway in St. Marys in October of 2003. The business was illegally entered before those involved ransacked the business and set several fires. Those with details on this fire can contact Elk County Crimestoppers. On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…An Emporium man was stopped just south of Cowley Hill Road yesterday. State police there tell WQRM Todd Swartz, 39, was stopped for a traffic violation around 7:20 for driving 76 in a 55 MPH zone. At the time of the stop, it was determined Cowley was DUI. Charges are being filed.

A Ridgway man was not injured in an accident Saturday along Route 255, 1 mile north of Route 948, Fox Township. State police from Ridgway tell us Daniel Swanson, 24, was operating a 1995 Ford Escort southbound when he lost control, while trying to answer his cell phone. His car crossed 3 lanes of traffic, left the roadway, traveled over an embankment and rolled onto its roof. Swanson is being cited by state police for the incident.

Criminal mischief on Oknefski Road in Ridgway Township between March 26th and April 2nd left a window at a camp owned by a Ridgway man damaged. State police state that someone threw a log through the window at the camp owned by Joseph Quattrone. No further details were released.

A Port Allegany man was taken into custody Saturday by Kane PSP Saturday after an incident at the home of Norma Ostrander of Port Allegany. Kane PSP tell us Glenn Gallup, 50, was involved in an argument with Ostrander when he entered the victim’s residence and assaulted the victim before leaving.

A Mills man was charged by Coudersport troopers after he used obscene language and harassed a Mills man on Saturday. Reuben Manny, 41, was cited by troopers for the incident against Douglas Hand.

A Rockville, MD woman was severely injured while a Milton, VT man received no injures in an accident along Route 219 Saturday. Kane troopers tell us Jo Beth Windt, 57, was traveling north in a 2005 Ford Mustang and Russell Smith, 53, was traveling south in a 2005 Freightliner. Windt crossed the center line and hit the side of the truck being operated by Smith. Windt’s car then spun counterclockwise, hitting the guiderail. The accident remains under investigation.

An accident along Route 244, west of Smoker Road on Saturday left 3 Genesee people uninjured. Coudersport PSP tell us Betty Lou Knauer, 67, was traveling west when she attempted to adjust her car’s heat, only to lost control, swerve into the eastbound lane and strike a 1988 Chevrolet 15000 operated by Rusty Lampman. Jewel Lampman, a passenger on the Lampman truck was also uninjured.

Theft in Wharton Township between March 24th and this past Saturday remains under investigation by Coudersport troopers after someone removed a satellite dish from the side of a garage owned by Robert Hunsinger of Austin. Those with further details are asked to contact state police.

The scattering of rubbish on an Oxford, PA man’s property between March 11th and Saturday is under investigation by Coudersport troopers.

Criminal mischief at Jose’s Bar in Lewis Run on Thursday remains under investigation by Kane PSP after someone broke a rear window of a car owned by Tina Reinard of Bradford while it was parked at the establishment.

A PFA order against a Greenville, SC man was violated Wednesday as Tyrone Harvey phoned Leslie Guerreo of Roulette. Charges were filed.

Simple assault against a Sinnamahoning man on the 28th left an Emporium man charged after Fransisco Soto, 20, was involved in an incident late last month involving Chad Delp.

Burglary at Our Homestead Hotel in Emporium is under investigation by troopers there after someone removed several items.

And harassment in September of last year has a Westfield man in trouble after Stacey Moon, 36, phoned Crystal Kinchen of Ulysses approximately 10 times and hung up. Charges were filed.

A Port Allegany Borough Council member has filed papers to settle a mess involving the zoning of property in the borough. Bill and Jeanette Burleson are supposedly asking for what was lost in the matter, which began 2 years ago.

And the McKean County Comprehensive Plan meeting will be held April 12th at 7:00pm in the Foster Township Municipal Building. The meeting is being held for residents to voice their opinion on what they want for their county and town in the future. The meeting is open to the public and all residents of McKean County.
