On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an Ohio resident escaped unharmed after an accident on Route 446, just south of McCrea Brook Road around 3:35pm. Kane based state police state the Naseeb Kaleel, 19, was attempting to navigate via a GPS unit while passing several vehicles when his 2004 Volvo Sedan struck a guiderail after Kaleel lost control of his vehicle, all while the vehicle ran out of gas. The operator was cited for driving too fast. No injuries were reported.
A hit and run between Wednesday and yesterday occurred and is being investigated by state police from Kane. An unknown person was driving along Old Mill road in Wetmore Township when they struck two metal reflectors owned by Andrew Stanley of Kane. Those with information are asked to contact PSP.
An accident on Route 6, 1 mile west of Coudersport occurred as Wellsboro resident Brian Booth, 20, was attempting to negotiate a corner. Booth became distracted, veered into the opposite lane before attempting to steer his 94 dodge Ram 1500 back into his own lane. He lost control and ascended an embankment before his truck rolled, coming to rest in the westbound lane. No injuries were reported.

ter of Shinglehouse moved out, taking with him several personal items of Carpenter, in addition to making personal calls from Carpenter’s phone. The investigation continues.A missing New York woman’s body was found on South Nine Mile Road by a state trooper yesterday. Machias based state police say that a body believed to that of Allegany resident Barbara Fowler was found and taken to Olean General hospital, where identification took place. The missing Allegany resident’s body, who was reported missing in late November, will be autopsied. The investigation continues.
And a wallet belonging to Dustin Stafford of Bradford is in the possession of Kane based state police. Those having information as to the whereabouts of Stafford are asked to contact police.
No increase in taxes was needed during the passing of the 2006 budget by Bradford Township supervisors. The meeting held yesterday also saw the township enter into an arrangement for emergency services with the City of Bradford.
Three Port Allegany residents currently attending different seminary schools will be speaking during church service at the Port Allegany Evangelical Covenant Church this Sunday. Those speaking will be Matt Guncheon, along with Nate and Nicole Robinson. The service will begin at 10:00am in the church’s fellowship hall, with a coffee hour to follow. The public is invited.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…A hit and run occurred yesterday on Skinner Creek Road in Liberty Township. Kane based state police state that the incident occurred between 2:00 and 3:40pm when someone hit power lines connected to a pole and the home of Barbara Spencer. The lines were ripped from the Spencer home during the incident, which was not reported. Those with information are asked to contact state police.
Two juveniles escaped injury following an accident last evening on Route 219 in Ridgway Township. State police from Ridgway state that the operator was driving a 93 Mercury Topaz when they fell asleep at the wheel, sending the vehicle across the northbound lane and into a utility pole.
And an accident yesterday evening on Route 321 just south of Flickerwood Road was responded to by Kane PSP after 35 year old George Hinson III of Jacksonville, FL lost control of his 96 Chevrolet when it slid into a 94 Toyota Truck driven by Gaylon Gardner of Ridgway. Both drivers were taken by Elk Regional for treatment.
A two vehicle accident on Route 6, just east if Gibbs Hill Road in Hamilton Township was responded to by Kane PSP Monday evening. Archie Ackley, 60, of Neptune, NJ was operating a 2004 Chrysler Sebring when it slid on the slippery roadway and into a 91 Plymouth Sundance driven by Clarendon resident Marlin Peachey. Following impact both vehicles were driven to the northern shoulder. Both vehicle sustained moderate damage. Both operators were wearing seatbelts and received no injuries.
A body found by police recently is believed to that of missing Allegany resident 59 year old Barbara Fowler. Fowler was last seen walking her dog on November 30th. An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine the cause of death.
A sugar Grove resident was taken into custody by Warren Based state police after he made threats to burn down a home between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. According to reports, Paul Kocur was at the home he shares with his mother when the two became involved in an argument. Kocur was taken into custody before being taken to Warren General Hospital for evaluation. Charges have been filed.
Representative Martin Causer will hold constituent hours January 5th from 9:00 to 10:00am at the Emporium borough office. He or one of his representatives will also be at the Port Allegany borough office from 10:30 to 11:30 on the 5th.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in our listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.
State police in Coudersport have cited a Long Valley, NJ man for failure to control an alarm after they were dispatched to his seasonal residence on the Little Phoenix Road in Hector Township yesterday afternoon. Howard Ehmann was cited after his camp’s alarm system tripped for the fourth time in the past year.
A known female has been investigated after she reportedly wrote a bad check out to the Valley Farm Market in Weedville. State police from Ridgway investigated the incident.
Burglary at a private residence between November 1st and Monday of this week remains under investigation. State police from Coudersport state that 2 apartments on Main Street in Austin were entered when someone took several items from apartments rented by Adam Correll and another rented by Jamie Vanhorn. The investigation continues.
A one vehicle mishap on Monday in Wetmore Township, McKean County was responded to by Kane PSP around 5:30pm. Connoquenessing resident 42 year old Barbara Schubert was traveling south in a 98 Chevrolet Blazer when her vehicle slid off the east side of Route 66, struck a ditch and rolled on to its roof and came to rest. Schubert was not injured, according to troopers.
And a Harrison Valley teen was cited for harassment against another resident there on Monday. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM Dustin Skelton subjected Nancy Skelton to unwanted physical contact. No injuries were reported.
A leak from a tanker hauling tar yesterday between Limestone to Ellicottville closed that part of Route 219 for some time. A truck owned by Crossett of Warren had been traveling 219 when it started leaking around 5:50am. A lose cover on the tanker is to blame for the leak, which after the substance leaked it caused car tires to melt. The driver, Leyo Griffin of Limestone, was cited for failure to properly secure the load on his vehicle.
Next year will see a rise in water rates for those in the City of Bradford. The BCWA will raise the rate $1.00 to $16.00 per month. The City Water Authority last raised water rates 4 years ago.
Those just north of the border will see a rise in wages if they work for the minimum. This Sunday will see the hourly rate go to $6.75 per hour. The last increase was the beginning of this year when the hourly wage went to $6.00.

A one vehicle accident along Route 46, 8 miles north of Emporium in Shippen
Township was responded to by Emporium troopers Sunday evening. Eldred resident James Howard was traveling north when he lost control of his 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer on the ice covered roadway. The vehicle rolled and came to rest on its side facing south. All occupants of the Howard vehicle were taken to Elk Regional for treatment. All were wearing seatbelts.An Austin resident was not injured during an accident on Friday on Route 872, in Keating Township, potter County. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM Jeremy Glover, 32, was southbound in his vehicle when lost control, sending the vehicle across the northbound lane, off the berm and into an embankment.
Charges are pending against an Austin resident following an accident on the 21st in Shippen Township. State police from Emporium state that Jeffery Burger was traveling south when his 94 Ford Truck exited the roadway, traveled 300 feet and struck a trailer and tow boom along Route 155. Burger was wearing his seatbelt and received no injuries.
And a blood drive will be held today at the Adelphia building at 1 North Main in Coudersport. Hours are 9:00am to 2:00pm. Those eligible to give are encouraged to stop by and use the West Street entrance to the building.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…a hit and run occurred Sunday afternoon on the Keystone Road in Horton Township, Potter County. State police state that Terry Crawford of Brockway was northbound on Keystone Road when another unit crossed the center line, striking the Crawford 94 Ford Truck on the driver’s side. The unknown vehicle then continued on Keystone Road toward Jefferson County. Unit one is believed to be a maroon colored vehicle. Those with further information are asked to contact state police in Ridgway or Elk
County Crimestoppers.An accident at the Route 449 and 244 intersection in Genesee on Saturday was responded to by state police from Coudersport around 11:00am. Melissa Jo Walsh of Wellsville was attempting to pull onto Route 449 from Route 244 when Thomas Truax of Genesee failed to see Walsh, subsequently hitting the left front side of the Walsh vehicle. Both drivers, along with 2 passengers in the Walsh vehicle were transported to Wellsville’s Jones Memorial hospital for evaluation.
And accident at the intersection of Route 948 and Lamont Road in Highland Township was responded to by Ridgway PSP on the morning of Christmas Eve. Warren resident Gary Hoffman was traveling west when William Walton of Kane pulled into the path of the Hoffman vehicle. Hoffman applied the brakes, only to slide into the Walton’s 96 Ford Explorer. Walton’s SUV then spun, hitting a third vehicle parked in front of the Highland Hotel. Both the Walton and the third vehicle owned by Timothy Lubold sustained minor damage. Hoffman’s 96 Plymouth breeze was disabled. Only Hoffman received minor injury as a result of the accident.
An investigation into a fire which destroyed a 2 story garage owned by David Downs of Bradford continues by state police from Kane along with the state police fire marshall. Kane PSP tell WQRM a truck, car and sailboat were lost in the fire.
Ridgway based state police are investigating an incident of harassment which occurred Saturday in Kersey when a known male was charged in connection with an incident involving a Kersey female resident.
And route 255 through Fox Township along with Route 948 in Kersey will be the roads heavily covered by state police in an effort to watch for speeders and raise awareness to police presence.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…our checks with state police in Kane, Coudersport, Emporium and Ridgway turned up an all was quiet. There were no related incidences to report either.
An accidental fire at the home of Scott and Sharon Miller of Kane was investigated by the state police fire marshal after fire broke out in the Miller's garage on Burning Well Road early this morning. The original was determined to be within the shed attached to the garage. The cause was an electrical malfunction. Damage is estimated at $45,000.00.
Scattering of rubbish on Forks Road in Hector Township remains under investigation by state police in Coudersport who are asking for your help in identifying the person or person responsible for dumping 3 to 4 bags of garbage just north of Parker Hill Road.
Theft and harassment on Wednesday occurred in Genesee. Coudersport state police tell WQRM a known person subjected Wanda Wight and a 12 year old to physical contact before stealing a wallet. The investigation continues and charges are pending.
An accident on Route 6, just east of the McKean/Potter County line in Roulette Township occurred Wednesday. Daniel Kerr Jr. was eastbound. While waiting to turn left into Bidwell’s Garage when he thought a vehicle approaching him from behind was going to hit him. He then pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by Jennifer Sisson of Roulette. Both operators received only minor injury.
Harassment at Kane High School occurred and was investigated by state police there on Wednesday. 3 known juveniles were involved in a scuffle at the school when troopers arrived. The investigation continues.
Weeks passed and its official Jamie Himes Dana will be able to adopt her bomb sniffing dog, Rex. The bill, awaiting Senate approval yesterday, will now go to the White House for the President’s signature. Dana was injured in Iraq when a roadside bomb detonated when the vehicle she was in passed the area.
Charges were field against two Lewis Run residents after an incident Wednesday on High Street in Bradford. State police from Kane tell us Jeffery and Tracey Kandare were arguing, when pushing and kicking became part of the incident.
State police from Kane were checking on a suspicious vehicle on Sartwell Road when an unknown white powder was found. The investigation continues.
And state police from Emporium remind motorists that an increase in reportable accidents has occurred on Route 120, Route 46 to the McKean County line over the past several winters. They remind you to use caution and stay alert in this area. Patrolling of this are will also increase as a result.
Pittsburgh’s Mascaro construction was the low bidder in bids opened for the Route 219 bypass, which is set to see activity next year. Officials will not make sure the necessary paperwork is done and that the company is qualified to do the job.
Representative Martin Causer will hold a holiday open house/appreciation day Thursday at his Bradford office, from 1:00 to 4:00pm. The office is at 78 Main Street, 1st floor.
The Johnsonburg High School will hold an open house January 3rd from 6:30 to 8:00pm in the library. The event is open to students and their parents for those in senior high school. For more information contact Judy Allegretto at the high school.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Coudersport based state police responded to several accidents yesterday.
A Ulysses resident was not injured during an accident along Route 49 early. Coudersport troopers state that Lynn Harmon, 27, was eastbound when her 2000 Pontiac Grand Am hit an ice patch and began to fishtail, sending the car into an embankment. The car then spun 360 degrees and came to rest. A 6 year old passenger was also not injured. Both occupants were using seatbelts.
A Williamsport resident escaped unharmed after an accident just east of Route 44 in Hebron Township yesterday morning. Erin Kritzer, 24, was eastbound in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee when her vehicle began fishtailing on the snowy and icy roadway. Attempting to regain control, Kritzer’s vehicle hit a snow bank and rolled onto the driver’s side. A Williamsport resident and passenger Robert Boos, also escaped unharmed.
Two vehicles were involved in an accident on Route 255 Wednesday. State police from Ridgway tell WQRM Jesse Jones, 25, of St. Marys was in 2004 Ford Taurus heading south. The Jones vehicle began to spin counterclockwise, then clockwise when it crossed the center line, striking a 93 Oldsmobile Cutlas Ciera driven by Allis Brinkley, 29, of Kane. Following impact, the Jones vehicle continued north, while the Brinlkey car continued south before coming to rest. Charges are pending against Jones for failure to drive at a safe speed.
An accident along North Hollow Road in Eulalia Township yesterday just after 7:03am left a Coudersport resident with minor injuries. Harvey Sell IV was traveling south, according to troopers, when his vehicle left the roadway, rolled and landed on its roof. Sell was taken to Charles Cole for treatment of his injuries. There’s no word on if he’ll be charged for failure to drive at a safe speed.
Theft from a Harrison Valley resident’s property occurred between November 24th and Tuesday of this week after someone removed 2 Lamanch Boar-Goats. Those having further information are asked to contact state police in Coudersport.
Simple assault against a juvenile by a known person was investigated by state police. A verbal altercation took place on the West Valley Road. Saturday when the victim was punched in the face. No charges were filed.
Corey Cochran, 27, of Smethport was traveling north on Route 46 Friday when he lost control of his 2002 GMC Envoy on the ice covered roadway, sending the vehicle across the southbound lane and into an embankment. No charges were filed.
And Nathan Elkin, 23, of Smethport was not injured in an accident on Friday along Route 46, just north of Smethport. Kane based state police state that Elkin was southbound when his 99 Ford Taurus hit an ice patch, sending the car off the west side of the roadway and into a culvert.
No decision has been made in the case for a native of Hazel Hurst and her desire to adopt her bomb-sniffing dog, Rex who was with her when she was injured.
An Emporium man received only minor injuries as a result an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police say 82 year old Mark McLean was looking at the gun when it fired into his hand.
Those traveling the halls of the Olean Schools after classes have dismissed for the day may want to bundle up. Tuesday’s meeting of the board saw the decision made to shut the heat off after 3:00pm, in an effort to save money. The thermostat has already been turned back 3 degrees in an effort to trim costs. Another option is for the school to look into the cost of replacing the 15 year old heating system.

Retail theft at Wal-Mart in St. Marys yesterday left 20 year old Brittany Beaver of Johnsonburg charged by Ridgway based state police after she reportedly removed one bottle of Aleve valued at $9.99.
Burglary last Thursday in Spring Creek Township was investigated by state police from Ridgway. Jamie Keech, 36, of Brockway was sent to the Elk county jail after an incident involving property owned by David Kirkland of Hallton.
Forgery by a known person between the 12th and the 14th of this month is under investigation by state police. Ridgway troopers tell WQRM a known person forged a personal check in the amount of $650.00 on an account belonging to Maxine Frantz of Ridgway.
And checkpoints will be conducted throughout this and next month in Elk County by Ridgway based state police.
The future of the Bradford Route 219 bypass will be opening tomorrow. The state DOT will open bids for work on Route 219 which will include replacement of the concrete surface and replacement or repair of several bridges. The first phase of roadwork is to last through 2006’s construction season.
Progress toward being able to keep a bomb-sniffing K-9 may come as early as today for Jamie Himes Dana, a native of Hazel Hurst, who was injured in combat. Dana’s request is said to be like no other in history.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Emporium based state police tell us a gray Dodge pick-up was eastbound on Route 120 just west of Emporium yesterday afternoon when several items fell from the bed of the truck and into the past of a Ford Bronco being operated by Edward Lakes of Emporium, causing minor front-end damage.
Harassment in Shippen Township yesterday afternoon was responded to by state police after two Emporium residents were involved in a verbal argument. Rebekah Afshar, 23, ended up striking Sarah Afshar in the elbow. Charges are pending.
Burglary was investigated by state police in Ridgway after Jamie Keech, 36, of Brockway broke into a shed owned by David Kirkland of Halton, removing a battery and electrical wiring and boxes. The accused was sent to jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
And charges are pending against a Westfield and Wellsboro resident after the two were involved in burglaries between August 1st and October 16th. Around 13 burglaries occurred in Potter County over the 2 and ½ month period being investigated. Both men are currently in the Tioga County Jail pending additional charges.
Additional costs for licensing and related bingo expenses may force volunteer fire departments to shell out more to meet additional legislation working its way through the Senate Finance Committee.
A fire at Austin’s Emporium Specialties Sunday will cost the company around $200,000. An insurance adjuster is to arrive at the business today to assess the damage. Its expected to take several weeks to get things back in working order, according to officials.
The Smethport Chamber will meet tomorrow at 8:00am at the Visitor’s Center. Elections to fill 3 board seats will be held at this time.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…numerous accidents throughout our listening area were responded to by state police.
Coudersport based state police responded to an accident Saturday on Cross Fork Road just after 2:30pm. Varley Fuller, 46, of Genesee was traveling north on Cross Fork Road when a person operating a snowmobile at a high rate of speed in the opposing direction forced Fuller off the road. Fuller’s 2000 Dodge Neon then hit a tree. Minor injuries were reported by Fuller and her passenger, 7 year old Wyatt Fuller. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact state police.
Ridgway based state police responded to a one vehicle accident on Saturday on Route 120. Renee Schaberl, 354, of St. Marys lost control of her 94 Ford Ranger on the snow covered roadway, sending it off the roadway and partially up an embankment before spinning clockwise. The Ranger then went airborne for 20 feet before coming to rest. No injuries were reported.
An accident along Route 144, just south of Oleaona in Potter County was responded to by state police from Coudersport around 3:15pm on Friday. An Altoona resident sustained minor injuries when his 1992 Buick Skylark hit an ice patch, crossed the oncoming lane and struck a tree. Troopers state that William Knox, 56, was taken by ambulance to Charles Cole for treatment. His passenger, Betty Rinker, was not injured.
A Galeton man was not injured during an accident on Friday in Stewardson Township, Potter County. State police state that Keith Dimon was westbound in a 2001 Honda CR-V when he lost control on the snow covered roadway, sending the vehicle into the guiderail.
Burglary between last Wednesday and Friday is under investigation by state police from Ridgway. Someone entered the residence of Gary Jones of Ridgway through an unlocked entrance, taking approximately $2,000.00. Those having information are asked to contact state police.
An accident at 11:00pm on Saturday in Benezette Township, Elk County was responded to by state police from Ridgway. David Wannett Jr, 22, of Commodore was severely injured after his 2005 Nissan Titan left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle then went airborne, landing on the passenger’s side and roof. A passenger, Nicholas Toney, 19, of Mahaffey was ejected from the vehicle. Both driver and passenger were taken by ambulance to Elk Regional. Careless driving has been given by state police as the reason for the accident.
An accident on Route 6 in Roulette Township Friday afternoon left a Roulette resident with only minor injuries. Joel Perry, 18, was traveling east on Route 6 when his 19990 Oldsmobile cutlass began to spin. Perry overcompensated before the vehicle exited the roadway, striking a utility pole. Charges are pending.
Harassment between twin Dagus Mines residents was investigated by state police in Ridgway. Troopers state that Nicholas and Nathaniel Poirier, 21, were involved in a scuffle when the accused threw Nathaniel Poirier to the floor before striking him in the ribs several times. No further details are available.
And bad check writing at Larry’s Sports Center in Galeton left a Woodland resident in trouble after 3 checks was written with insufficient funds available. Richard Casher was charged with 1 summary count of bad checks along with 2 misdemeanor counts.
A fire at Emporium Specialties in Austin remains under investigation after fire broke out at the manufacturer on Sunday. Four fire companies were on hand battling the blaze, with more on stand by. The fire remains under investigation and no damage estimate is available. A Hazmat crew from Elk County was on-scene to assist with cleanup.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a one vehicle accident yesterday morning was responded to by Emporium based state police just after 6:00am. Austin resident Thomas Simms was traveling south on Route 155, just north of Four Mile Road when his 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan struck a deer. Simms was not injured.
Kane based state police are seeking information pertaining to the theft of gas on Thursday from The Hub here in Smethport. Someone driving a blue 90’s Ford T-Bird exited the passenger’s side of the vehicle, pumped nearly $38.00 in gas and then left with the driver. Those with information are asked to contact state police in Kane.
And criminal mischief on Monday in Eulalia Township, Potter County left a Galeton resident with charges after James Poklar kicked the garage door, breaking the jam, at the residence of Theresa and Michael Poklar of Coudersport.
Mayor-elect Norman Stuckey of Austin has passed away. Stuckey was to take office in January. He was 71. No details have been released as to the next step in electing a replacement.
Two more businesses in Bradford are going to disappear. Nancy Bliese, owner of The Lunchbox has made plans to close, citing financial and health as her decision makers. And the Hotel Bradford is for sale.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a 24 year old Smethport resident was the operator of a 2001 Ford Windstar involved in an accident yesterday afternoon. State police from Kane tell WQRM Amy Irons was traveling north on Route 46 in Farmers Valley, as was 19 year old Susan Scott, also from Smethport. Scott slowed to turn, when her 94 Geo Tracker was struck from behind by the Irons vehicle. Scott’s vehicle then left the roadway and struck a tree before coming to rest. The Irons vehicle traveled north before coming to rest along the eastern berm. No injuries were reported by either driver.
An accident Tuesday on Route 6, just east of Roulette was responded to by troopers from the Denton Hill barracks in Coudersport. The report given to WQRM states that 24 year old Melvin Machwitz Jr was westbound in a 96 Ford F-150, while a 99 Ford Taurus driven by Sharol Ludwig of Roulette was eastbound. Wachwitz entered the eastbound lane, striking the Ludwig vehicle. No injuries were reported by either driver or a passenger in the Ludwig vehicle, 36 year old Jacki Daniels of Roulette.
And burglary between August 20th and November 17th of this year occurred at a residence along Iva Jen Road in Harrison Valley. Coudersport based state police continue their investigation, where someone removed the victim’s registration plate. Those with information are asked to contact state police.
The director of the PA Regional Planning and Development Commission has been placed on leave indefinitely. At the center of a debate several years ago, Ron Kuleck has been on leave since November 28th, with salary and benefits. Until things are ironed out, Deputy Director Howard Glessner is taking control of things.
A representative of the Governor’s Veterans Outreach and assistance center will be on hand next Wednesday from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the Bradford Careerlink offices. Those with questions can call 800-352-0915 for further information.
A meeting of the Smethport community will be held for those interested in assisting with activities for the Vietnam Moving Wall, which will be in Smethport June 1st through the 5th, 2006. The meeting is set for 6:30pm today at the American Legion.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…according to our checks with state police in our listening area, all was quiet. There were no related incidences to report either.
A known Byrnedale female is being investigated in connection with bad check writing at Delollo’s Supermarket in Weedville a month ago. State police from Ridgway state that the individual wrote a check for $10.74 on an account with insufficient funds on November 17th.
A crash on private property in Cameron County was investigated by Emporium based state police Monday afternoon. The incident occurred as Autumn Lukaschunis, 18, of Emporium was traveling east on Ensign Hollow Road in Shippen Township. Approaching a railroad crossing, the operator was unable to stop in time, and impacted a train traveling through the area. The train pushed the Lukaschunis 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix for about 10 feet, turning it clockwise. Lukaschunis was not wearing a seatbelt and received only minor injury.
And the third individual involved in an incident of public drunkenness on Sunday has been identified as 21 year old Aaron Quinn of Derrick City. A disorderly conduct charge has been filed against Quinn in connection with this incident on Sunday.
The City of Bradford has opted to transfer their trash out of state to the Chautauqua County landfill in Ellery to the tune of only $21.50 per ton.
The Our Town Smethport segment produced by WPSU-TV, with help from locals, will air this evening on Channel 3 at 6:00pm. The segment is only available on cable, unless your dish is set up to receive the Clearfield broadcast. The Smethport: Our Town segment, the 34th of its kind, will be aired during the station’s winter on-air campaign.
An Olean man is set to go to trial 2 months from now in the stabbing death of Olean resident 30 year old Kurtis Billingslea Jr. The two were reportedly in a scuffle before Billingslea was stabbed.
And Senator Joe Scarnati will hold constituent hours tomorrow at the Lewis Run borough office from 10:00 to 11:00am.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a collision on the Cowley Hill Road in Keating Township, Potter County yesterday morning was responded to by troopers from the Denton Hill barracks around 7:30am. Austin resident Richard Glover, 28, was northbound when he l
ost control of his vehicle on the slippery roadway. Glover crossed into the path of a vehicle driven by St. Marys resident Daniel Cunningham. Unable to avoid a collision, both vehicles made contact. A passenger in the Cunningham vehicle, Dora Cunningham, was taken by ambulance to Charles Cole for treatment. The investigation continues.Burglary at a camp along Shadley Hill Road in Spring Creek township between Saturday and yesterday is under investigation by troopers. Ridgway based state police state that someone broke into a camp owned by David McGee of Gibsonia. About $300.00 in damages were done by those involved. Those involved then broke into a shed owned by Brookville resident Kenneth Rowan, taking a chainsaw and 2 gas cans, valued at approximately $500.00. Those having information about these incidences are asked to contact state police.
Assault and terroristic threats by a resident of Sweden Valley Manor on Monday in under investigation. Coudersport based state police state that the individual made the threats against another resident at the manor.
Simple assault by a known person against a Kersey resident between the 11th and the 12th remains under investigation by troopers in Ridgway. Reports state that the known person arrived at a Main Street location, where they struck Tracy Nichols, caused damage to the residence and then left. Charges are pending.
Kane troopers are investigating an incident of public drunkenness, which occurred Sunday in Duke Center. Jason Waid, 22, of Duke Center, Eric Quinn, 21, of Derrick City and a third individual were seen walking along Route 346. Confronted by troopers, all three began to run. Waid and Quinn were eventually located and taken into custody, while the 3rd person has yet to be located. Those with information are asked to contact troopers.
And criminal mischief on Saturday or Sunday in Driftwood remains under investigation. Emporium based state police tell WQRM someone drove through the borough playground on Route 555. Those with information are asked to contact troopers.
James McMahon, convicted of killing Link Dowell III 4 years ago, is asking for a new trial, with a hearing scheduled for January 27th at 9:00am, before President Judge John Cleland. Being considered during this hearing may be the intoxicated state of McMahon March 8, 2001, when the incident occurred in Bradford.
And the Meals on Wheels Program through the Potter County Human Services Area Agency on Aging is in need of donations. On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…a one vehicle accident occurred early yesterday along Route 555 as Shannon Hoover, 31, of Clearfield was traveling west. She lost control of her 2003 Ford Escort before the vehicle exited the north shoulder, traveled up an embankment and rolled onto its roof. The Hoover vehicle then came to rest across both lanes of traffic. Hoover was found by troopers to be DUI. Charges were filed. Hoover received only minor injuries as a result. A passenger, 24 year old Clearfield resident Nicole Hurd was wearing a seatbelt and received no injuries.
Emporium state police responded to an accident along Route 120, 3 miles east of Emporium Saturday night. Driftwood resident Melinda Sherry, was traveling east on Route 120 when she lost control of her 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee while attempting to avoid a deer. The SUV struck an embankment where it came to rest. Sherry was not injured. However, a passenger, Jeffery Sneal of Driftwood received minor head injuries.
An Austin resident escaped injury Friday in an accident along Route 872 around 8:00am. State police from Coudersprot state that Tonia Butler was traveling Route 872 too fast for conditions when her 2001 Pontiac Grand AM SE traveled down an embankment after Butler lost control. The Butler vehicle came to rest 70 feet from Route 872. Butler has been cited for failure to drive at a safe speed. The investigation continues.
A one vehicle accident in Force, Jay township on Thursday was investigated by state police from Ridgway. Aileen Feldman, 68, of Penfield was northbound on Route 255 when her 2000 Honda Civic LX drifted off the roadway, striking several logs and a PennDOT sign. Feldman then overcompensated and crossed both lanes of travel, only to strike the guardrail. The car then went airborne, flipped over and came to rest on its wheels. Feldman was taken to Dubois Regional for treatment of her minor injuries.
Kane based state police responded to an accident along Route 59, 3/10 of a mile west of Smethport Wednesday evening. Bradford resident, 22 year old, Trisia Hammond was traveling west when her 94 Pontiac traveled onto the north berm and into a ditch. Hammond received minor injures after her car traveled the ditch for over 200 feet before striking the ditch wall.
Harassment in Kersey on Sunday, shortly before 7:30pm was investigated by state police in Ridgway. Charges are pending against a Kersey resident after John Schloder, 49, along with 2 Penfield residents, 22 year old Jeanette Frantz and 32 year old Andrew Reigle were at the Schloder residence. According to troopers, Schloder threw several objects at Frantz and Reigle. The accused also reportedly struck Frantz in the mouth. Charges are pending.
And theft from the St. Marys Wal-Mart on the 9th is under investigation by troopers from Ridgway after 2 female juveniles removed items from the store without paying.

ort based state police state that a Whitesville resident was eastbound on Route 49 yesterday around 5:00pm when her 98 Pontiac Bonneville hit a deer entering the roadway. Lynette Coleman was wearing her seatbelt and received no injuries.The government is one step closer to changing the rules in a positive way. A Virginia federal senator stated earlier this week that a an exemption may be added to the Defense Appropriations bill, making it possible for Jamie Himes Dana to adopt her bomb-sniffing dog, Rex. Such a move is believed to be the only of its kind.
A Bradford resident is being investigated by the PA Attorney General for insurance fraud. Its been reported that 71 year old Lauren Dart illegally claimed he received prescriptions, to the tune of over $117,000. Claims include prescriptions from an Elma, NY pharmacy. As part of the investigation receipts were compared, only to find that the ones Dart submitted significantly differ from those used by the pharmacy.
Only 30 days following the election to fill a board position on the Kane School District board of Directors and the person elected has resigned. Mike Holtz submitted his resignation during the half hour meeting of the board Thursday evening. Employment duties were given by Holtz as the reason for his declination of the position. Several other resignations were also accepted during the board’s meeting. And two board members were recognized for their service.
Items collected during the Wintersongs shows tonight and tomorrow at Port Allegany High School will be donated to Port Allegany Community Services. The concert features students in grades 4 through 12. A holiday band concert will be held next Thursday, beginning at 7:30pm. Non-perishables will also be collected during this concert.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in Kane, Coudersport, Ridgway and Emporium. There were no related incidences to report either.
Harassment on Monday left a Galeton resident in trouble with state police in Coudersport. Randall Pierce Jr, 20, was arrested for phoning an unnamed victim at all hours and harassing the individual.
McKean County DA John Pavlock has asked for the assistance of doctors and pharmacists in the county to keep an eye on commonly abused drugs. Pavlock says that he, along with the drug task force, are stepping up efforts to curb illegal use of drugs in the county. A letter sent by Pavlock just over 2 weeks ago provided examples of substances being misused.
Hamlin Memorial Library in Smethport used funds provided by the federal Library Services and Technology Act to upgrade their computers and add a network. The upgrade also allows the library to place their materials online at www.hamlinlibrary.org.
Jill Cyphert will present information on the new prescription program, Medicare Part D, at 6:30pm Wednesday, December 21st at 6:30pm at the Greater Bradford Senior Center.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past 24 period…a 51 year old St. Marys resident was behind the wheel of a 2003 Jeep Liberty around 10:00pm last evening when her vehicle was involved in an accident along Route 219. Kathy Wright lost control while traveling north in Ridgway Township. The Jeep crossed the southbound lane, struck an embankment on the west side, spun counterclockwise several times and then came to rest. Wright was taken by ambulance to Elk Regional before being flown to UPMC for treatment of her moderate injuries. Ridgway based state police continue their investigation.
Kane based state police responded to an accident yesterday along Route 446, 2 miles north of Route 346 in Eldred Township. Nancy Seal, 52, of Eldred was northbound when her vehicle struck a deer. Seal was not injured, according to troopers.
Eldred resident Alfred Cochran Jr. was traveling east in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee when a deer entered the roadway. The Cochran vehicle hit the deer before Cochran pulled over and had the vehicle towed from the scene. Cochran was wearing a seatbelt and received no injuries.
Criminal mischief on Monday or Tuesday of this week was investigated by Ridgway state police after someone placed silly putty on the end of a spring transfer pipe in Benezette Township. The act caused pipes to freeze before officials were able to correct the situation. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact troopers.
Criminal trespass in Shippen township on Friday was investigated by state police after someone entered a known person’s property on Meadow Road.
Brian Russell of Port Allegany was robbed on the 28th or 29th of November when someone removed a tree stand of his on property just south of Route 49 in Allegany township, Potter County. Coudersport based state police state that Russell planned to return, and hunt in the same spot, only to find the stand was missing. Those with information are asked to contact state police.
And perjury charges were filed against an Austin resident after she reportedly lied about her knowledge of the happenings surrounding the death of Officer Steve Jerman. Michelle Nelson was found to have made inconsistent statements.
The Port Allegany Elementary School multi-purpose room was filled during Monday evening’s meeting. Of those in attendance were many in support of a school sponsored soccer team. School officials and board members said they’d take the suggestions into consideration, but as pointed out previously, money was an issue behind the decision against such an activity.
Those working in Port Allegany can expect to see a rise in their Emergency and Municipal Services Tax, formerly the Occupational Privilege Tax. Council members discussed the increase during Monday’s meeting. One of the highlights of raising the tax would be property tax reduction. Some were in favor of such a move, while other were not.
And Lou’s Shoe Repair, Bradford’s only shoe repair shop will close, according to owner Gene DeFrank. December 29ht will be the last day of business at the Congress Street business, which DeFrank has owned since 1960, when he bought the business from his father.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in Kane, Ridgway, Coudersport and Emporium. There were no related incidences to report either.
Theft from a Judson Hollow location, 2 ½ miles east of Loucks Mills Road is under investigation. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM someone took approximately 100 gallons of off-road diesel fuel between Friday and yesterday. Those involved took the fuel from equipment in the area before fleeing. Cost of the illegally taken fuel is approximately $300.00. Those having information about this theft are asked to contact state police in Coudersport.
Kane based state police are asking for help in locating a 26 year old Duke Center resident. 26 year old Andrew Loveless has been missing since Sunday afternoon after he was last seen outside his Duke Center residence. He is described as being 5’4", 150lbs., clean shaven with brown hair, blue eyes and wearing blue jeans and a gray and maroon flannel shirt with hood. Those with information on the whereabouts of Loveless are to contact state police in Kane.
Two Otto-Eldred School Board members were re-elected during Monday’s meeting. Re-elected as president and vice-president were Steve Hepfer and Joe Bennett, respectively. The board also okayed the purchase of textbooks and reviewed board policy, which will be adopted later.
In Smethport Borough Council news…several council members backed Greg Bees requests for the former Smethport Auto Parts store, pending state approval. Also discussed was the excessive costs of paving projects. Council will make plans to meet with officials regarding the additional $19,000 plus dollars being charged for services.
And a weekend art show is planned for this Friday and Saturday at the Kane Depot on Fraley Street. Hours are 6:00pm to 9:00pm Friday and Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm. There is no admission charge.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…2 Mckeesport residents escaped without injury after an accident along Route 872 in Grove Township, Cameron County on Sunday. State police from Emporium state that Ronald Jackowski, 50, was driving a 93 Chevrolet Lumina Van south on Route 872 when the van left the left side of the roadway and then traveled back onto the roadway before Jackowski lost control on the snow covered roadway. The van eventually came to rest on its roof in a ditch. Jackowski and a passenger, Harry Coddington were not wearing seatbelts.
Coudersport based state police tell WQRM a California resident escaped injury after an accident Sunday morning, just after 4:00 on Baker Creek Road, Eulalia Township. John Dubots, 38, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer when he was involved in an accident. Dubots was found to be under the influence. Charges were filed.
A hit and run at the Wal-Mart in Fox Township on Saturday, between 2:00 and 5:45pm was reported by a Kersey resident after someone hit a 98 Chevrolet Blazer owned by Michael Guido. The investigation continues. Those with information are asked to contact troopers.
Theft on Sunday in Eldred Borough remains under investigation by state police in Kane after someone entered the Manor residence on Edson street between 5:50 and 7:15am. Those with information are asked to contact state police.
DUI on Saturday, shortly after midnight, left a Dagus Mines resident charged by state police from Ridgway. Nicolas Poirier was stopped at the intersection of Route 255 and Homestead Road when troopers realized the driver was under the influence. Charges are being filed.

In New York, you can phone 1-800-847-8929. You can also turn to your local radio station for more information. State police ask that you not phone the barracks.
State police from New York state are searching for a missing Nine Mile Road resident. 59 year old Barbara Fowler of Allegany was last seen November 30th. Fowler is 5 feet 7 inches tall, 140 pounds with brown hair and eyes. Those having information pertaining to the whereabouts of fowler are asked to contact New York State Police.

Kane based state police are in search of information leading to the discovery of the whereabouts of 25 year old Lewis Run resident Eric Bradybaugh. According to troopers, Bradybaugh has been missing since Thursday around 6:30am. He was last known to be driving a green Ford Thunderbird in an unknown direction. According to troopers, he made threats to hurt himself. Those having information leading to Bradybaugh’s whereabouts should contact troopers.
A known suspect is being investigated by Emporium state police after they used personal information of Raylene Baker of Emporium to make long distance calls between early August and mid-September.
And Johnstown resident 28 year old Christopher Way was the victim of a thrown rock when a known juvenile threw the object at Way’s 96 Truck Tractor Wednesday evening along Route 255. Those having further information about this incident are asked to contact troopers.
It was announced earlier this week that both Colgan Air Inc and Regions Air Inc of Nashville are interested in providing service to Bradford Regional airport. Former carrier Mesa Air Group failed to provide a bid for service. The airport director stated that they’d like to no longer be part of the Essential Air Service program and find a hub for those flying from this area that is an actual destination. Both Washington’s and Cleveland’s International airports were mentioned.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a hit an run investigated by Emporium based state police yesterday around 8:20pm occurred on the Four Run Mile Road in Shippen Township. An unknown person was northbound when his older Jeep 4 door SUV drifted off the roadway. It then traveled along the edge for about 170 feet when it struck a mailbox and post. The vehicle then crossed Four Mile Run Road and struck an embankment. A witness described the driver as a white male in his 50s or early 60s. Those with information about this incident are asked to contact troopers.
A burglary between October 2nd and November 30th at a Sharon Township seasonal residence remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police. The incident occurred as someone entered the residence owned by Linda Gies of St. Marys, searched through cabinets, ripped a gas heater of the wall and then departed. Those having information about this incident should contact troopers in Coudersport.
And a hit and run investigation in Wetmore Township on the 22nd of November has been completed by troopers from Kane. Charged was 46 year old Beth Jenkins-Zerwin of Kane. As we reported earlier on this accident, the operator drove their vehicle into a garage owned by Nellie Rostan of Kane. The operator drove through the garage doors, into a wall on the north side and then into another wall as they attempted to back up. Jenkins-Zerwin was charged with careless driving, driving at a safe speed and trespass by motor vehicle.
The rise of the Allegheny River yesterday brought out Star Hose Company officials just before noon as a family in the vicinity of Coleman Mills called for help as rising water jeopardized their home. Eight people were taken to higher ground while two others declined the assistance. When officials arrived, the rising water was reportedly knee deep.
Plans are underway to bring the Vietnam Moving Wall to Smethport by the American Legion and VFW, in addition to others in Smethport. The wall is set to arrive May 31st around 4:00pm. Set-up will be gin on June 1st. The wall will then be available for viewing until June 5th. No pets, food, smoking or cell phones will be permitted near the wall. A closing ceremony is set for the 4th.
Weather permitting, snowmobile trails in the Allegheny National Forest are set to open December 13th. The system will stay open for riders through April 1st, depending on conditions. For up to date conditions riders can phone 1-877-766-6253. Updates are done on Tuesdays and Fridays.
And the Coudersport Falcon Football team moves one step closer to becoming state champs with a game this Friday in Clarion.
