On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…A one vehicle accident occurred Saturday in Jay Township, Elk County. According to our checks with Ridgway based state police, Bruce Fuller 54, of Kane was traveling north along route 255 when the rear axle of his 91 Ford Ranger broke. The truck then continued north, coming to rest along the east berm. Fuller and a passenger, Christopher Yoder, 29, also a Kane resident were uninjured.
Emporium based state police tell WQRM criminal mischief was investigated by their department over the weekend. According to the report given to WQRM, someone damaged a mailbox owned by Joseph Rosette, 64, of West Creek road. The investigation continues.
Troopers in Ridgway tell us they have charges pending against Hope Turnbull, 44, and Dennis Carr, 51, both Weedville residents after an incident yesterday morning. According to a report issued, the individuals were involved in a physical altercation stemming from an argument. Both received minor cuts as a result of the incident.
Emporium based state police arrested Toby Hanes, 20, of Kersey following an investigation of a non-reportable accident along Route 120, Shippen Township.
Ridgway troopers tell us a protection from abuse order was violated Friday between 9:15am and 4:15pm by a known male adult from Byrndale. A report issued states that the accused contacted Darlene Fuenffinger, 51, of St Marys by telephone. Charges are pending.
Coudersport based state police found Michael Jordan, 19, of Cuba and Anthony Fuller, 20, of Portville to be in violation of the underage drinking law between Thursday evening and Friday morning in Coudersport borough. Both individuals were found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Jordan was also found to be possessing a prescription drug. No further details are available about the outcome of this reported incident.
Jason bird, 31, of Port Allegany was stopped in a 2001 dodge truck on Thursday by Coudersport based state police. Troopers there tell WQRM they initially stopped the accused along Glass Place in Port Allegany for a traffic violation. Charges are pending.
Edward Hand, 41, of Emporium was operating a 95 Ford F-150 when his truck went out of control along Route 120, while turning north onto Route 155. After going out of control on the snow covered roadway, the Hand vehicle struck a stone wall on the east side of Route 155. Hand was wearing his seatbelt, and received no injuries.
Checking with Coudersport based state police, troopers there tell us they investigated a simple assault, which occurred last Wednesday. According to the report given, Clifford Bowser, 30, of Roulette struck the victim, 48 year old Christina Bowser, 48, also a Roulette resident. Charges are pending.
Bad checking writing in Johnsonburg, at Paper City Jubilee, was investigated by Ridgway based state police. According to the report issued, a known 32 year old female wrote the checks between January 21st and the 26th. Total amount of the checks was $580.80.
Coudersport based state police investigated an incident of unlawful taking or disposition from an incident on January 22nd from the Procuri residents in Genesee Township. The victim, Sean Procuri, 24 told troopers in Coudersport that sometime on the 22nd someone took his cell phone, running up the bill by over $1,700.00. Anyone having information about this incident should contact Coudersport based state police. The investigation is ongoing.
And a burglary between December 11th of last year and this past Saturday is being investigated by Ridgway troopers. WQRM was told that unknown actors arrived at the camp of William Lokhaiser, a Bulter resident. Once on the property those involved gained entry by breaking several windows. Once inside, those involved broke several items and then left the scene. Anyone with information about this incident should contact Ridgway based state police.
And officials with the city of Olean have told the Olean airport that fund for repairs to the airport are not available at this time. Among the dollars asked for was an amount of $31,000 for repairs for leaking pipes. The airport office has sustained damaged to its roof as a result of ice falling from the adjoining hanger.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was reportedly quiet according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area.
Emporium based state police tell WQRM someone took 2 sets of log skidder tire chains between Wednesday and Thursday of this week, from property approximately 2.5 miles off of Route 46, Shippen Township, Cameron County. The chains were removed from a skidder belonging to Jerry Johnson of Kane. Anyone having information about this theft can contact Emporium based state police.
A one vehicle crash along Rich Valley Road in Shippen Township was investigated by Emporium troopers. A report issued states that a juvenile male, age 16, of Emporium was operating a 94 Subaru Sedan when the operator lost control on the icy roadway before the vehicle struck a tree. The juvenile sustained only a minor leg injury.
An accident at the intersection of Spruce Street and 4th Streets in Emporium was responded to by state police there, who tell WQRM Betty Clingan, 81, of Emporium was stopped at a stop sign on Spruce street, waiting to pull onto 4th Street. Failing to notice a 2004 GMC truck operated by Jeffrey Nearling of Ridgway, the Clingan Buick LeSabre struck the Nearing vehicle. Both operators were wearing seatbelts, receiving no injuries.
And Emporium based state police remind motorists to use caution while driving between Route 46 West to the Elk County line. According to the barracks, an increase of accidents has been reported in that area, due to road conditions and operator carelessness.
And Coudersport’s Christ Episcopal Church will have a Swiss steak dinner buffet from Noon to 3:00pm Sunday. There is a fee for the dinner, with tickets available at the door. Takeouts will also be available.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Ridgway based state police tell WQRM a hit and run occurred yesterday morning around 6:45. According to the report issued, a white male driving a white colored Jeep rear-ended a 96 Chrysler driven by Maria Scott of Weedville, while the Scott vehicle was stopped at a stop sign on route 948. The unknown person failed to stop and provide information during the incident. Anyone with information about this incident can contact Ridgway troopers at 776-6136.
Retail theft at the Wal-Mart in St Marys is being investigated by Ridgway based state police who tell WQRM someone fled the store with approximately $14.00 worth of merchandise yesterday between 8:15 and 8:30pm.
Kane based state police tell us they are charging Donny Lee Smith, 26, Josh J Bodistow, 20 and Russell Scott Ferraro, 25, all Kane residents with theft by unlawful taking after they reportedly took a vehicle owned by Andrea Swartz of Kane. The vehicle was taken without permission before being driven to Buffalo, where it was located by Erie County authorities. The vehicle was used to pick up drugs in that area.
A traffic accident on Sunday in Hamlin Township was responded to by Kane based state police who tell WQRM they responded to find Bradley Swanson, 37, of Mt Jewett had been traveling west along Route 6, when the operator lost control of the 2004 Ford F-150 he was operating. While negotiating a curve, the operator lost control before the truck rotating 180 degrees, striking a guiderail.
An assault in Coudersport at the jail on the 9th is being investigated by Coudersport based state police. They’re investigating an incident where William Morgart, III of Shinglehouse received head injuries of an unknown means while the victim was incarcerated at the jail.

orted that PennDOT was the victim of a theft on the 7th. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM they are investigating the incident where someone removed 2 Motorola Talkabout Radios from a maintenance garage in Pike Township. Anyone with information about this theft can contact troopers.Sentencing of the Rigases has been set back yet again, according to an AP report. John and his son Timothy were originally scheduled to be sentenced in January. The new date is now set for March 24th, by Judge Leonard Sand. The date has been bumped due to the lawyers making arrangements for restitution.
And Smethport Mayor Bernie Carr has decided to not seek re-election. Carr has cited the demands of his local business in Smethport as a reason for not seeking re-election.
FCI-McKean has announced that they are once again on lock-down. This after an incident earlier in the month, which gave staff reason to believe a problem could arise. The lock-down centered around concerns over the inmates inability to smoke at the facility, as a result of a national No-Smoking Initiative. According to Monica Recktenwald, executive assistant, the lock-down will last indefinitely.
A meeting will be held today for the Olean Common Council, for the opportunity to discuss the lifting of the tax on clothing on items under $100. According to estimates, Olean count lose up to $90,000 as a result of the dropped tax. The only thing dropped will be 1.5% of the current tax. The state and county will still collect their share of the tax.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an accident occurred yesterday afternoon along Route 6. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM Jeanette Smith, 30, of Eldred was eastbound in a 99 Chevrolet Venture when the vehicle left the roadway, crossed the east and westbound lanes and then left the roadway on the north side of Route 6. The Smith vehicle then impacted a utility pole. Route 6 had to be closed for approximately 3 hours. Smith was wearing a seatbelt, receiving no injuries.
A one vehicle crash along Route 449 in Allegany township was responded to by Coudersport based state police Monday evening around 11:00pm. Seth Morley, 24, no town given, was operating a 2000 Chevrolet Sedan along Route 449, when he lost control due to the icy conditions. The vehicle then crossed the westbound lane and struck the guiderail, before spinning and striking the guilderail again before coming to rest. Morley and a 16 year old passenger were uninjured.
And a camp along East Fork Road in Wharton Township was broken into some time between January 3rd and February 18th. Taken were a cast iron griddle, 14 inch cast iron skillet and a spatula. Anyone with information can contact Coudersport based state police.
The owner of Microtech Custom Knives is said to be very excited about moving to Bradford and setting up operation in the former Bradford Electronics site. Anthony Marfione’s hope is that the business will be up and running by mid year.
And the Smethport Chamber’s Events Committee will meet Thursday at 5:00pm at the Country Porch.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet on area streets and highways according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.
Ridgway based state police tell us a crash occurred Sunday along SR 4009, Jones Township, Elk County. The investigation continues at this time by the barracks.
Retail theft on Sunday at the Wal-Mart in Fox Township was investigated by Ridgway based state police who tell WQRM they have charged Chrystal Ambuski, 19, of St Marys and Angela Spinda, 20 and a 15 year old female, both Kersey residents. Those involved took price tags from less expensive items and placed them on more expensive items, resulting in a theft worth $153.86.
A DUI related crash occurring on the 19th was investigated by Coudersport based state police who tell us Randy Pekarski, 33, of Buffalo was operating a Chevrolet Sedan on Route 44 in Sharon Township when he lost control of the vehicle, allowing it to exit the west side and enter a ditch. Upon investigation, troopers found Pekarski to be DUI. He was arrested and taken to Charles Cole for a BAC test.
A one vehicle accident along route 155 in portage township was responded to by Coudersport based state police. A report issued states that Zareyfah Ramadhan, 34, of Austin was traveling along Route 155 at a speed to great for the road conditions. The 2000 Chevrolet Tracker being operated struck the guiderail, then traveled across the 155, where it struck the embankment, coming to rest in the left lane.
A hit and run on the 17th in the parking lot of the Old Tannery Inn in Costello was responded to by the Coudersport based state police. Troopers tell WQRM they are incestigating the incident, which included damage to a vehicle owned by Lee and Kimberly Vasko of Austin.
A crash on Thursday of last week in Costello was responded to by Coudersport troopers, who tell us Mary Peterson, 19, of Austin was southbound in a 93 GMC Jimmy when she lost control of the vehicle on the icy roadway. Over-correcting the vehicle led to the vehicle entering the northbound lane. The GMC Jimmy then left the western berm, landing in a creek and some shrubs. Both Peterson and a 9 year old passenger were wearing seatbelts. No injuries were reported.
Criminal mischief between the 14th and the 15th in Coudersport was investigated recently by their PSP barracks. A report to WQMR states that someone used a yellow object to smash in the front right corner of a vehicle owned by Danae Babcock of Shinglehouse. Estimated damage is $300.00.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…Ridgway based state police tell WQRM a DUI related collision occurred Saturday morning around 1:00am. Troopers responded to the accident along on Boot Jack Road, Route 219, Ridgway Township, Elk County. Once on the scene, they found 34 year old Andrea Wipperman of Richmond, VA had been traveling south in a 99 Oldsmobile Cutlass when the car spun out of control of ran unknown reason. The car then hit a tree before traveling back on to the west berm on Route 219, where the vehicle came to rest. Wipperman was taken into custody and arraigned before the on-call district justice. Wipperman has been charged with several summary traffic violations, in addition to DUI.
A one vehicle accident occurred Friday along Route 219 in Jones Township, Elk County, according to our checks with Ridgway based state police, who responded. Troopers there tell us Rusty Harp, 38, of Mt Jewett was operating a 91 Honda when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then left the roadway and struck a ditch. Harp was not wearing his seatbelt, receiving minor injuries as a result.
Coudersport based state police tell WQRM Ebeling Bus Garage in Millport, Sharon Township, Potter County was the victim of a reported theft Thursday morning. According to the Coudersport barracks, those invo
lved put shaving crème on the outside of 3 busses before entering one of the buses and cutting 5 seats.Ridgway based state police investigated a theft from a camp along Maple Lane in Jones Township, Elk County recently. A report issued states that a camp owned by Lynn Rimer of St Marys was entered between January 29th and February 18th. Those involved entered by prying a lock on the door lock. The actor or actors then entered and removed a Miller Light bar light and a multi-colored flannel shirt.
Representative Martin Causer tells WQRM that time is running out for those interested in applying for a state grant for fire and ambulance companies. Everyone is invited to take advantage of this opportunity to help those in need who are receiving blood through the Community Blood Bank and BRMC in Bradford.
In related news, the Community Blood Bank of Western New York will hold their first community blood drive today at the Olean YMCA from 8:00am to 2:00pm.
Bradford Regional Medical Centers monthly Heart to Heart series will be held tomorrow from 5:00pm to 6:00pm in Human Resource Room B. The program is free and open to the public.
Thursday saw Port Allegany’s Main Street Revitalization Corporation receive $300,000 in state grant money for use in helping their efforts to improve the downtown area, including the town square, Maple Street Commons and Pearl Street.
And the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development has helped bring a portion of Florida based Marfione Incorporated to the area. The company received a $1.62 million financial package. A subsidiary of the company, Microtech, will reportedly hire as many as 253 people. Of those 253 people, hired will be everyone from the top to the bottom of the ladder.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Ridgway based state police tell WQRM they responded to a collision along Route 255, 5/10 of a mile south of Route 948, Fox Township. According to t6he report issued, Heather Seele, 18, of Ridgway lost control of the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am she was operating. The car exited the east side of Route 255 and struck a utility pole. Selle and her passenger, 19 year old Jay Fox were both wearing seatbelts, receiving only moderate injury.
According to a report issued by Coudersport based state police, George Barnett, 70, of Shinglehouse was traveling south on Baker Creek Road when he failed to maintain control of the 98 Plymouth Grand Voyager on the snow covered roadway. While negotiating a right curve, the vehicle struck an embankment where it became disabled. Barnett and his 3 juvenile passengers were all wearing seatbelts, receiving no injuries.
Checks with Coudersport base state police tell us they are not charging anyone in connection with an incident on the 14th on property owned by Kenneth Risser of Ulysses. Apparently, no crime had been committed.
And we’re told by Coudersport based state police they also investigated a possible act of criminal trespass the residence of Lori Jeffers of Ulysses on the 14th. Again, no crime had actually been committed.
Nearly a week into the lockdown at FCI-McKean and the interviews with inmates have been completed by the staff. Reportedly, the inmates refused to eat on the 10th due to concerns over the No-Smoking Initiative implemented last month.
Potter County felon Mark Jadlowski, 37, has been apprehended. Jadlowski was released by a jail in Ohio on January 3rd. Due to threats on officials, he was considered armed and dangerous. He reportedly faces 51/2 to 16 years in state prison on various counts. He may also face charges in New York state.
And McKean County Commissioners learned recently that they may be able to tax cell phone towers within the boundaries of the county. Officials stated Thursday that the county has at least 20 towers.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Coudersport based state police tell us Angela Valenti, 24, of Austin was eastbound on Route 6, ½ mile east of Route 449 in Ulysses Township when she
lost control of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer she was operating on the icy covered roadway. The vehicle slid across the roadway, exiting along the north berm. The vehicle then traveled down a 75 foot embankment, overturning and coming to rest on its roof. A passenger, Laura Valenti, 23, of Austin was taken to Charles Cole for treatment of moderate injuries. The operator, Angela Valenti and another passenger, Denise Valenti of Austin were wearing seatbelts, receiving no injuries.Ridgway based state police tell WQRM a crash occurred yesterday morning around 7 along Route 555, Benezette Township, Elk County. Roger Knisley, 52, of Driftwood was rounding a curve in a 2000 Chevrolet Tracker when the vehicle struck the guiderail. Knisley wasn’t injured.
And a hit and run in Eldred Borough is being investigated by Kane based state police who tell WQRM someone driving along Route 446 struck a legally parked 2002 GMC Envoy owned by Russell Morris of Rushford. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Kane based state police.
Senator Joe Scarnati will hold constituent hours today at the Lewis Run borough office. Hours are from 10:00 to 11:00am.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…according to a report this morning in today’s Bradford Era, in addition to a report on this morning’s Channel 10 news, a 78 year old St Marys man died, while his 51 year old son was injured in an accident Tuesday afternoon. According to reports by other media, Paul Mordan, 51, was northbound in a 92 Dodge Caravan on Locust Road when he failed, for unknown reasons, to stop at a posted sign. The van then went airborne, traveling across South Michael Road, coming to rest on the other side of the roadway before striking an embankment. Neither Mordan, or his father, 78 year old Jack Mordan, was wearing a seatbelt. Paul Mordan was extricated and transported to Elk Regional, while his father Jack, was pronounced deceased by Elk County Coroner Lou Radkowski as a result of blunt force trauma.
According to our checks with Ridgway based state police, a theft occurred some time between Monday at 1:00pm and yesterday around 6:30am. The report issued states that someone removed a DVD movie from the mailbox of Christopher Ruffner of Kersey. Anyone with information can contact troopers in Ridgway.
A burglary at a camp owned by William Pichler, of Kersey, was investigated by Ridgway based state police recently. Troopers tell WQRM someone attempted entry into the camp along Maple Lane in Jones Township, Elk County. The incident between the 6th and 15th of this month caused damage to the building, at a cost of over $200.00.
Sarah Dixon, 18, of DuBois was traveling south along Route 948, Fox Township, Elk County on Monday, when she lost control of the 90 Nissan Maxima she was operating. The vehicle exited the roadway, striking a PennDOT sign and then traveling about 56 feet befoe coming to rest. Nixon was wearing her seatbelt, receiving no injuries.
A collision on Monday in Clara Township was investigated by Coudersport based state police. Troopers there tell WQRM Crystal Babcock, 23, of Shinglehouse was southbound along Route 44 when she failed to maintain control of her 2001 Chevrolet Tracker on the icy roadway. The vehicle traveled off the roadway along the western edge, before climbing an embankment. The Tracker then rolled and slid onto the roadway, coming to rest along the western side of Route 44. Babcock was wearing her seatbelt, receiving no injuries.
Jessica Trimm, 19, of Port Allegany was stopped by Coudersport based state police in Roulette township on Sunday. A report issued by the barracks indicates that Trimm was initially stopped for a signal violation, while turning from Route 6. It was determined Trimm was DUI. Charges have been filed.
Ridgway Middle School Principal Scott Shaw had his retirement request accepted by the school board during a meeting on Tuesday. Shaw taught for 32 years. His resignation is effective June 29th. The next regular meeting is scheduled for 6:30pm, March 14th in the elementary school cafeteria.
The Elk/Cameron counties Multiple Sclerosis Self-help Group will meet today at 6:00pm at the LIFT office.
And a chicken and biscuit dinner will be held today from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Roulette Firehall. Dinner includes chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes, vegetable and dessert. There will be a cost.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a one vehicle accident occurred yesterday afternoon along Route 255. According to Ridgway based state police who responded, Tracie Dempsey, 37, of St Marys was traveling north in a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe. While attempting to negotiate a left curve in the roadway, she lost control, causing the vehicle to slide off the road, where it struck a tree and came to rest over a small embankment. Dempsey was taken to Elk Regional for treatment of her minor injuries.
Kane based state police tell WQRM Theresa Chiapuso, 34, and Michael Cramer, 30, both Eldred residents, were involved in an argument on Sunday. According to the report issued, when Chiapuso slapped Cramer in the face, in addition to throwing a plastic Pepsi bottle, striking Cramer. Charges of harassment are pending.
And Kane troopers tell us they are continuing their investigation into drug possession at Papa Nick’s bar. During an interview, troopers discovered suspected drug paraphernalia, which was seized and sent to the lab in Erie.
A report in this morning’s Bradford Era states that the Federal Corrections Institution McKean is still on lock-down status. Reportedly, the situation began Friday after inmates refused to attend scheduled meal times. At this time, the staff is going through the lock-down conducting interviews with inmates.
Port Allegany resident, Timothy Maben, is being charged with aggravated assault and simple assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Reportedly, an incident occurred after his child was born October 10th. The infant has reportedly lost sight and hearing due to being shaken between December 24th and January 31st.
The first blood drive of the Community Blood Bank in Western New York will be held Monday at the Olean YMCA.
A press conference will be held next Tuesday at 4:45pm at the new 911 center. According to a release from the county commissioners, Howard Brush, representing the Governor’s Northwest Regional office, will present information on Homestead Exclusion for property tax relief. Interested residents are encouraged to attend.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…Kane based state police tell us a 1 vehicle accident occurred Saturday morning around 3:00am. According to the report, Aaron Winsor of Mount Jewett was eastbound on Route 6, when he fell asleep at the wheel before driving his 92 Buick Centry off the south side of Route 6 before impacting a road sign and then a handrail. Winsor was wearing his seatbelt, receiving no injuries.
Kristopher Haviland, 29, of Saint Marys was traveling south on Route 255, Jay Township, elk County on Friday, when he swerved to miss a Jeep Cherokee traveling north in the southbound lane. Haviland swerved to miss the other vehicle, only to lose control of his 2001 Pontiac Sunfire. His car went off the roadway, striking a drainage ditch and coming to rest. Haviland, in addition to a passenger in the Haviland vehicle, Joelle Palmer of Emporium, was not injured. Anyone with information about the other vehicle is asked to contact Ridgway based state police.
Coudersport based state police tell us a collision occurred Thursday morning along Route 6 in Eulalia Township, ½ mile west of Coudersport Borough. According to their report, John Welch, 25, of olean was traveling east on Route 6. While negotiating a curve, he failed to maintain control of the 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier he was operating on the snow-covered roadway. The vehicle slid across thee westbound lane and up an embankment. The car then left the embankment, hitting the pavement and rolling onto its roof, where it came to rest. Welch was wearing his seatbelt, receiving no injuries.
A crash in the village of Gold, Ulysses Township, Potter County on Friday, the 4th, was responded to by Coudersport based state police. Troopers there tell WQRM a 96 Volvo dump truck, operated by David Smoker, 48, of Genesee, was stopped at the intersection of Route 49 and 449. Smoker began to enter the intersection, only to pull into the path of a 92 Geo Prizm, driven by Simon Gigee, 34, of Westfield. Smoker was wearing his seatbelt receiving no injuries. Gigee and his passenger, 29 year old Jason Meise, both received injuries as a result of the accident.
A theft between Saturday and Sunday is being investigated by Coudersport based state police, who tell us someone removed several traps from property near Fesseden Road in Roulette Township. Anyone with information can contact troopers in Coudersport.
And Kane based state police located and charged 18 year old Tony Bonini of Mount Jewett with underage drinking after he was reported to be wandering around several residences Friday morning in Mount Jewett Borough. Bonini was charged with Public Drunkeness, Disorderly Conduct and Underage Drinking.
Port Allegany Elementary School registration will be held March 17th and 18th. Children who will be 5 on or before September 1st are eligible. To pre-register, call the school office weekdays between 10:00am and 4:00pm, before March 14th. At the time of the visit, parents must provide the child’s birth certificate, social security card and immunization record.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a hit and run occurred last evening in Fox Township, Elk County at the Elementary School. According to Ridgway based state police, a 200 Chevrolet Silverado owned by Wesley Meyer of St Marys was parked a the school, between 8:00pm and 10:00pm. During this time, another vehicle hit the rear of the Meyer truck before leaving the scene. Anyone having information about this incident can contact Ridgway based state police.

sport based state police tell us that Debra Saulter of Port Allegany was westbound on Route 6 on Tuesday when her vehicle struck a large rock which had fallen into the middle her lane. Saulter, who was wearing her seatbelt, was transported to Charles Cole for treatment of minor injuries.And Dale Allen Walker, 55, of Smethport was approached by Kane based state police on Tuesday during a traffic stop. Troopers investigating found suspected drug paraphernalia. Charges will be filed.
Kane school board made the decision during their Thursday evening meeting to begin baseball and softball in the spring of 2006. According to a report, the plans for the softball and baseball programs have been in the works for several years.

Coudersport based state police tell us they investigated a reported harassment after a Hector Township meeting on Monday. A report issued states that Virginia Knapp of Westfield told Coudersport based state police that she was harassed by a known individual. At this time troopers told the alleged victim that the complaint did not fall under guidelines set in the PA Crimes Code.
And Charges against Joseph Bruno Manno, 29, of Johnsonburg have reportedly been dropped. According to an article in today’s Bradford Era, two counts of official oppression were dropped for lack of evidence. District Judge Alvin Brown of Emporium heard the case, in place of Judge Tony King who excused himself for a conflict of interest.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet on area streets and highways according to our checks with troopers in the WQRM listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.
Ridgway based state police tell WQRM a 2 vehicle accident occurred on Monday along Route 255, at the intersection of Cherry Avenue in Weedville, Jay Township. According to the report issued, the collision occurred as Gary Hanes, 28, of Weedville was traveling west on Cherry Avenue. Unit 2, an 89 GMC Truck driven by Edward Perigo of Coudersport was southbound on Route 255. The Hanes vehicle failed to stop at a posted stop sign. The Hanes vehicle struck the front driver’s side of the Perigo vehicle, before the Perigo vehicle veered to the right, leaving the west side of the roadway. The Perigo vehicle then came to rest in a parking lot. The Hanes vehicle spun 108 degrees and exited the left side of the roadway, impacting a tree. Hanes then preceded to leave the scene on foot. Charges are pending.
Harassment was investigated on Monday by Ridgway based state police, who tell us Jessie Wolfe and Michelle Wolf, both St Marys residents, were involved in a physical altercation in Coal Hollow, Jay Township.
A theft in Clearfield is being investigated by Ridgway based state police. A report issued states that between the 4th and this past Monday someone removed a Fill-Rite fuel transfer pump from a tank on a construction site where Greenland Construction was doing work. Anyone with information can contact Ridgway based state police.
And an incident in Howard, Shippen Township, Cameron County on the 6th was investigated by Emporium based state police. Troopers at the barracks tell WQRM Steve Donahue, 19, of
Brockport was traveling west on Route 120 when Brett Studer, 28, of Brockport drove up behind the Donahue vehicle, flashing his lights in an attempt to get Donahue to pull over. When that didn’t work, Studer pulled around the Donahue vehicle, applying his vehicle’s brakes after pulling in front of the victim. Once Donahue came to a stop, Studer got out of his vehicle, came up to the Donahue vehicle and preceded to use a tire iron to break the driver’s side window. Once the window was broke, Studer grabbed Donahue around the neck, while making threatening remarks. Donahue was treated at Elk Regional and released. Studer was charged with simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief, in addition to several traffic violations.An unnamed Lewis Run resident has been given 10 days in which to pay is long overdue water bill, before service is disrupted. The customer in question has a water bill of $1,400, which dates back 2 years.
Hopefully, as of March 1st Race Buick and Edmond Chevrolet will become one. Steve Hopkins, GM of Edmond Chevrolet/Ed Shults Toyota Scion says plans are being made to acquire Race Buick. Hopkins went on to say that they Toyota franchise will remain at the Edmond Chevrolet location, while the Chevrolet and GMC franchises will relocate to the current Race location.
And Senator Joe Scarnati is holding constituent hours Friday in Bradford from 10:00am to 11:00am at the Chamber of Commerce. He’ll also hold hours from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at the Kane borough office.

Coudersport based state police tell us someone cut down an "Entering Potter County, God’s Country" sign on property owned by the Potter County Visitor’s Association. The incident occurred some time yesterday between midnight and 6:30am. Those involved then tossed the sign over a nearby embankment. Anyone with information can contact Coudersport based state police.
Kane based state police tell WQRM a simple assault occurred Sunday morning between Tammy Lynn Robertson and John Paul Robinson, both Lewis Run residents. According to the report issued, an argument between the two escalated into the accused, John Robinson, pushing the victim, Tammy Robertson, to the ground and striking her in the face. The actions caused bleeding to her upper lip. Charges were filed in Smethport and the accused was arraigned and remanded to the count jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
Coudersport based state police tell us they stopped a vehicle driven by Kelly Moore, 18, of Roulette on the 4th for a speeding violation. At the time of the stop it was also discovered that Moore was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Silvia Moore of Emporium told troopers there that sometime on the 14th of last month someone gained access to her checking account, removing an undetermined amount of money.
Thursday saw Coudersport based state police charge 38 year old Judy Risser of Ulysses with criminal trespass. The alleged incident occurred on Wednesday when the accused arrived at property owned by Kenneth Risser of Ulysses. Risser then became engaged in a verbal argument before being ordered to leave the premises several times. Failing to leave, the accused struck Risser with a closed fist, in addition to damaging eye glasses owned by Lori Jeffers, also from Ulysses.
And water rates in Port Allegany are set to rise. This after a rate was announced last month. Borough Secretary Susan Cater-Roboski said during a meeting held Monday that calculation error in the previously announced rate was the reason for the difference. The difference equates to a $5.46 increase, to $79.14 per quarter.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…30 year old Carolyn Meiser of Kersey was stopped yesterday morning along Route 948 in Fox Township. The stop was conducted for traffic violations, at which time it was discovered the accused was under the influence of alcohol.
A one car accident occurred Saturday in Allegany Township, Potter County. Coudersport based state police investigating tell WQRM Robert Cavallari, 46, of Coudersport was operating a 2001 Ford Taurus along Route 49 at a high rate of speed. Cavallari drove off the north side of the roadway and onto the berm where he began to lose control of the car. The car traveled across the roadway, striking a utility pole. The car then continued through an electric fence and into a pasture, striking a wagon feeder where 3 cows were eating and subsequently injured. The investigation continues.
A DUI related crash along Route 144 involving Perry Kern of Stevens was responded to on Saturday by Coudersport based state police. Once at the scene, troopers found Kern had traveled north of Route 144, when he lost control of the 2004 Chevrolet Truck he was operating. Leaving the road, the truck struck a guiderail and telephone pole before coming to rest. Kern was taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital. Charges for DUI are to be filed.
Coudersport based state police responded to a crash along Route 872 in Wharton Township in Friday. At about 6:45am Susan Ritsick, 53, of Austin was stopped in the northbound lane. Edward Goodenough, Jr of Coudersport was also northbound when he failed to stop in time, impacting the rear-end of the Ritsick Ford Escort. The impact pushed the Ritsich car north, where it overturned and came to rest along the east berm. Only Ritsick sustained minor injury.
Summit Manor Motel in Ridgway Township was the victim of a theft on Friday. The person or person involved entered restrooms, breaking the toilets, clogging the sinks and loosening the valve on the toilets. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM they have in their possession a mountain bike and a fleece sleeping bag. The items were found along Route 44 in Hebron Township. To claim, phone the barracks.
Coudersport based state police tell us Route 49 is closed from North Hollow Road to Kidney Road. An alternate route of travel is advised.
Saturday saw Coudersport based state police investigate an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. According to the report issued, a known 21-year-old from Westfield took a Chevrolet S-10 extended cab pickup owned by Lisa Jean Outman of Ulysses.
A crash along Irish Settlement Road in Genesee Township occurred on Thursday. According to Coudersport troopers who responded, Francis McGarvey, 69, of Genesee was eastbound in a 2000 Ford F-150 when the truck slid off the roadway. McGarvey was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
A crash along Route 155, ½ mile south of the McKean County line in Potter County was responded to by Coudersport PSP on Thursday. A report issued states that Kelly Doane, 19, of Julian was northbound on Route 155, and Jeffery Wilcox, 42, of Coudersport was northbound on 155 when the Doane vehicle’s back end slid counter clockwise. Attempting to correct the problem, Doane turned the 99 Ford Escort clockwise, and into the southbound lane, where it was struck by the Wilcox vehicle. Charges are being filed against Doane.
Cheryl Coole, 30. Of Oswayo was operating a 97 Chevrolet Blazer when she was involved in an accident on the 3rd. According to a report issued by Coudersport PSP, Coole was northbound on Route 44 when she lost control of the vehicle on the snow covered roadway. The blazer crossed into the oncoming lane, where it hit a ditch and rolled onto its roof. Both the operator and a juvenile passenger refused treatment.
Kane based state police tell us an attempted burglary occurred between 5:45am and 5:00pm on the 31st of last month at the home of Jason Stanley of Kane. Someone attempted entry through a side door. Anyone with information can contact troopers in Kane.
And F and L Coal Sales in Brockport was the theft of $250.00 in coal on January 22nd as a known person passed a check on a closed account. The investigation continues by Ridgway based state police.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Kane based state police tell us a 2 vehicle accident occurred yesterday afternoon along Irons Hollow Road, Keating Township. The incident occurred as Kenneth Gardner of New Castle was traveling east on route 6, while rounding a sharp curve. While rounding the curve, Gardner attempted to slow for a vehicle driven by Daniel Tucker of Wilcox, who had slowed for a vehicle in the ditch. The Gardner vehicle’s trailer began to rotate clockwise on the icy roadway. The Tucker vehicle was struck by the rear tires of the tractor trailer driven by Gardner. Gardner’s truck continued east before coming to rest in the eastbound lane. The Tucker vehicle came to rest along the north berm. Tucker and a passenger, Maryann Tucker were taken to Kane Community Hospital for treatment. Another passenger in the Tucker vehicle, Courtney Tucker was taken to Bradford Regional for treatment.
Criminal mischief was investigated by Emporium based state police recently after an incident on Wednesday. Reportedly, Joanne Smyre of Millersburg broke a window on a residence owned by Barry Bates of Emporium. Charges are pending.
And Ridgway troopers tell us a theft occurred on Tuesday in Kersey. According to the report issued, Sonya Kline of Kersey was selling an item on eBay. After receiving payment in excess of the asking price she was asked to send the extra cash to another country.
It was announced yesterday that Adelphia will attempt to do away with nearly $2 trillion in claims, which are a result of duplicate paperwork. Nearly 18,000 claims have been made against the company which is contemplating sale of the company after emerging from bankruptcy.
McKean County Commissioners opened bids for police radios during their meeting on Thursday. Three bids were opened for some of the equipment, with the low bidder being Lewis Security of Port Allegany. The radios will allow deputies to reach others in the county. And the county should have high speed internet service some time next month.
And Verizon has announced expanded broadband service to their customers in Smethport, with the addition of 1,800 lines.

Coudersport based state police tell us an accident occurred on Sunday along Route 6 in Roulette. According to the report issued, Jeffery Pappas, 41, of Virginia Beach was eastbound on Route 6 when he noticed smoke coming from his 94 Ford F-150. Pulling onto the berm, Pappas popped the hood and noticed a flame coming from the engine. He instructed a passenger, Candace Gayheart, also from Virginia Beach to exit the vehicle. Both were able to escape unharmed before the vehicle was ruined by the fire.
Jones Township residents are doing everything they can to bring back their police force, which was dismantled over a decade ago. Residents gathered Wednesday to discuss the options, of which one is to raise mil
lage to 14 mills. Doing so may raise up to $50,000 toward a police force.In business news, federal credit unions in St Marys and Kane have merged. Meanwhile, a charter for McKean County, with charters already existing in Elk and Cameron Counties under the St Marys credit union. On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a one vehicle accident occurred yesterday morning along Route 46. According to our checks with Coudersport based state police, Jerry Medard, 33, of Laurelton, NY was travelling north when his 2000 Freighliner went off the road for an unknown reason. The tractor trailer then went into the ditch on the east side of the road, where it rolled a number of times, striking a utility pole and concrete culvert. Medard was taken to Bradford Regional for treatment of his minor injuries.
Kane based state police tell WQRM John Kirkman, 42, of Smethport were investigating a criminal trespass when it was discovered Kirkman was on probation and in violation of the same. Kirkman was subsequently arrested for various counts and remanded to the county jail.
And Sue Ann Taylor of Driftwood was the victim of a theft some time last month. Between the 2nd and the 31st someone removed approximately $4,500 in cash from a money box at her residence. Anyone with information can contact Emporium based state police at (814) 486-3321.
The bidding deadline for Adelphia’s assets has passed. With that, a company spokesperson declined to reveal any of the bidders by name. It was also noted that bids could be opened at any time, if the company chooses to go that route. Adelphia, now headquartered in Greenwood Village, Colorado, was formerly based in Coudersport.
