On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a two vehicle accident yesterday morning left only one passenger injured. Coudersport troopers responded to the accident along Route 49, near Connie’s Market in Bingham Township. The incident occurred as Bonnie Norton was operating a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier. Stopped in the eastbound lane, and waiting to turn left her car was struck from behind by William Potter’s 19991 Mercury Grand Marquis. Potter’s vehicle then continued into a ditch where it came to rest. Ruth North, a passenger in Norton’s vehicle was taken to Charles Cole for treatment of her minor injuries. Potter was cited for summary traffic violations.
A one vehicle accident along Route 449, just over 2 miles north of Route 6 in Ulysses was responded to by state police from Coudersport. Between midnight and 7:00am, Chad Casher, 22, of Wellsboro was traveling north on snow covered Route 449 when he lost control of his 1992 Chevrolet Corsica LT on a curve. Casher then entered the west berm, pulled off the berm and into a pull off area where he struck a tree. Casher and his passengers, Amanda Allman of Oliver, NY and two other unknown persons the fled. Those with further details are asked to contact Coudersport PSP.
Five hundred dollars in damages were sustained to a log skidder owned by Michael Merritt of Kersey some time between Saturday and Monday as it was parked in a secluded area near the Greentree Landfill in fox Township. Ridgway troopers are continuing their investigation.
A Shinglehouse man was not injured in an accident Sunday afternoon along the Eleven Mile Road, Oswayo Township. Coudersport based state that Matthew Triponey, 39, was traveling north in a 1998 Dodge Stratus. While rounding a curve Triponey’s vehicle hit snow in the roadway, sending his car into a spin before it crossed the center line, hit several fence posts and a tree. Triponey was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
And criminal mischief on Wednesday is under investigation. Ridgway based state police tell WQRM two known persons damaged doors on the James City Union Church in Highland township.
After much fuss over Port Allegany’s aging sewer system, they were turned down for a Pennvet grant for up to $3.2 million. The funds would have been used to replace up to one third of the town’s system. Their first hurdle was never passed when DEP turned down the application.
Bonaventure University has an interim Director of Media Relations. Bryan Smith of Wales, NY will fill the position tomorrow. Smith, who holds a Bachelor’s in Communications from Edinboro, has worked in the airline profession for the past 20 years, including Jetblue most recently.
And free breakfasts will be served at the Smethport Senior Center beginning tomorrow. The continental breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 10:00, with donations being accepted.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…a Roulette man was not injured as the result of an accident on Saturday along Route 6, 2 miles east of Port Allegany. Kane troopers tell us Ronald Metzler, 58, was traveling Route 6 when his 1997 Chevrolet Lumina slid off icy Route 6 and landed in a ditch. Metzler was found by state police to be DUI and subsequently arrested.
A Rockton man was stopped by Ridgway PSP on Saturday along Route 255. Robert Kutsel, 52, was found by state police to be DUI. Charges were filed.
Brian Glatt, 39, of Kersey was stopped by state police from the Ridgway barracks around 4:00pm Sunday. Stopped for a traffic violation., state police found the driver to be DUI. Charges for the same and other offenses were filed.
Nancy Martini-Chicola of Kersey told state police in Ridgway over the weekend that someone stole her prescription medication while at her residence between the 15th and yesterday. The investigation continues.
An Erie woman received minor injuries as the result of an accident along Route 948, Brush Hollow Road on Thursday. Amanda Fields, 20, had been traveling north in a 2003 Dodge Durango when she lost control of the SUV on the snow covered roadway. The vehicle crossed the center line, slid counter clockwise and rolled over, coming to rest along the west berm. Fields was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
An Emporium woman was arrested by state police there following a stop along Route 120 Thursday. Becky Andrus was arrested after a traffic stop was conducted and it was determined she was DUI.
A Denver Colorado man received minor injuries as the result of an accident responded to on Thursday by state police from the Ridgway barracks. Michael Royce, 27, was traveling south on Route 66 when he lost control of his 2006 Ford Taurus before it exited the roadway, slid clockwise and impacted a tree. The car came to rest facing east. Royce was cited for driving too fast.
A 17 year old male has been charged following an argument with a 16 year old female on Saturday. Kane based state police state that the two were involved in an argument on Klondike Road in Corydon Township just after 8:00pm, when it turned physical and the accused pull the victim’s hair in addition to shoving her.
An Austin School district student is being charged following a terroristic threat toward a teacher on Thursday. Coudersport based state police state that Cathy Dewey was threatened by the student around 1:00pm.
Between Monday and Tuesday of last week, Emporium troopers state that someone used a blunt object to damage a mailbox owned by Richard Clark. No further details are available.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a Ridgway man was not injured in an accident along Route 948, north of the borough there, according to troopers from their barracks. State police state that William Lorenzo, 48, was traveling north when he lost control of his 2000 Chevrolet Impala. It crossed the southbound lane entered a ditch and crossed a private driveway, turned 90 degrees and came to rest.
A St. Marys man received minor injuries as the result of an accident along Route 555, the River Road yesterday morning. Ridgway based state police state that John Wehler, 70, was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado southbound. Attempting to negotiate a left curve, Wehler lost control of his vehicle sending it spinning before it crossed the southbound lane, left the east side of Route 555 and struck an embankment. It then continued southbound where it rolled and came to rest on the roof.
And Victoria Smith of Shinglehouse has been charged and arraigned after a simple assault incident yesterday with Daniel Calhoun, also of Shinglehouse. Coudersport PS state that the two were involved in an argument when Smith struck Calhoun several times. Smith was taken into custody, charged, arraigned and released on unsecure bail.
Aggravated assault in Roulette early yesterday brought troopers to that area after Jennifer Pinchock was found along side Main Street bleeding from an apparent head trauma. According to state police, Pincock was airlifted to Robert Packer in Sayre, where she’s listed in stable condition. Supposedly, Pincock called someone for a ride home after drinking in Port Allegany. During the ride home, the two were involved in an argument when Pincock jumped from the vehicle she was in. The investigation continues by state police. hanty Road in Lafayette Township is under investigation. Kane troopers state that someone smashed a mailbox owned by Barry Burritt, along with one owned by Richard Button. Those with further details are asked to contact state police.An a Ulysses man will be charged in connection with fleeing and eluding troopers after an incident Wednesday along Route 6. James Hoopes, 24, was speeding along Route 6 when a traffic stop ed initiated. Hoopes failed to stop, sending state police on a chase of approximately 1 mile before he was taken into custody.
Penn-York college night is planned for March 28th from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Reilly Center on the SBU campus. Dozens of college, military, technical school and university officials will be on hand. Financial aid presentations and representatives will also be on hand. Further details can be obtained by contacting your school’s guidance department.
Adelphia will team up with the American Red Cross today from 9:00am to 2:00pm for a blood drive at the Adelphia gym. To schedule an appointment, phone the ARC at 1-800-448-3543 or you can stop by, using the West Street entrance.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a one vehicle accident on Route 949, just after 2:00pm was responded to by state police from the Ridgway barracks. Samantha Delhunty, 20, of Ridgway was southbound in a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier when her car entered the south berm. Overcorrecting to reenter the roadway, Delhunty’s car spun, crossed both lanes of travel and struck an bank. The car then traveled along the bank before striking a culvert. Delhunty was cited for the incident according to troopers.
According to Ridgway based state police, an incident of harassment occurred this morning around 2:00am as a know 46 year old male argued with Michelle Swanson as she arrived home. The suspect then kicked Swanson. Charges were not filed at the request of the victim.
Possession of unstamped cigarettes by a known 48 year old female is under investigation by Kane troopers after the individual troopers saw what seemed to be suspicious to them. Upon receiving consent from thew woman to search her car, they found 237 packs of unstamped cigarettes.
State police in Ridgway cited two vehicles at the Greentree Landfill in Fox Township after they discovered they were more than 1,000 pounds over the weight limit set by DEP.
A fire in Wilcox investigated by the state police fire marshall was determined to be accidental in nature after fire caused $30,000 in damage to a home owned by John Price. No one was reportedly injured in the fire which occurred Tuesday afternoon.
An accident Tuesday on Route 219 in Brockport was responded to by Ridgway troopers just before 6:30pm. State police tell WQRM charges are pending, completion of their investigation. A know 17 year old male driver was stopped in the northbound lane, ready to make a left turn into a driveway when David Pearsall, 33, of St. Marys failed to see the stopped 88 ford Truck, striking the vehicle causing moderate damage. Pearsall, his passenger, Trena Pearsall, and the other driver were all taken to Dubois Regional for treatment.
The theft of $150.00 from the Paper City Jubilee in Johnsonburg continues by Ridgway troopers. No further details are available.
A $40.00 chain delivered to a mailbox owned by Craig Novosat of Ridgway was taken by an unknown person according to state police at the Ridgway barracks. The incident occurred between the 4th and the 12th of this month and is still being investigated.
A camp in Highland Township, owned by a Sharpsville man, was entered by someone between December 17th of last year and February 4th. Various items were taken, according to reports before those involved fled. Those with information are asked to contact state police or Elk County Crimestoppers.
According to Potter County EMA Director, John Hetrick, a state-wide test is planned for the Emergency Alert System at 10:10am, March 17th. The test will be conducted with cooperation from PEMA and the National Weather Service. Over 300 radio and television stations are included in the EAS network across Pennsylvania.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a hit and run last evening on Route 49 is under investigation by Coudersport troopers. Around 6:00pm someone driving what is described as possibly a tan or silver late model 4 door sedan attempted to pass a vehicle driven by Derek Hamilton of Ulysses. As the unknown person re-entered their vehicle clipped the corner of the Hamilton vehicle. Hamilton continued until it was safe to pull over and exchange information. The unknown person never stopped and is now wanted by authorities. Those with further details are asked to contact Coudersport based state police.
Criminal attempt yesterday in Roulette Township is being investigated by Coudersport troopers after someone called Ronald White, telling him he had won a prize, and asking for his bank account information. Those with further details or a similar incident are asked to contact troopers.
And criminal mischief on the 20th or 21st on the North Fork Road in Harrison Township is being investigated. Coudersport PSP tell WQRM someone smashed the mailbox of Ralph Snyder. Those with further details are asked to contact state police.
After all the fuss and support was gathered, the Limestone School Board voted 6 to 3 to keep the elementary school open. According to reports, 400 or more people attended the meeting in the gymnasium yesterday. Everyone from the Limestone Mayor to children to business owners attended the meeting.
The IU9 accepted the resignation of Donavan Jennings as their business manager, effective March 3rd. Jennings has accepted a position with the Stroudsburg Are School District. Assistant manager Anita Danielson was promoted to the vacated post effective March 6th.
It was determined that McKean County DA John Pavlock had an allergic reaction to something he ate and a sinus infestion last week when he left the courthouse during on meeting on whether or not James McMahon should receive a new trial.
The Christmas Inn, owned by the Simms family has been purchased by Nate and Theresa Smith, owners of Smith’s Ace Hardware in Olean, Salamanca and Bradford. The Inn was built over 100 years ago for Orlo Hamlin, as a wedding gift from his father, Henry.
And a benefit for the Doutt family of Crosby who lost their barn in a fire January 4th will be held this Friday, February 24th at the Norwich Township firehall from 5:00 to 7:00pm. The fish fry and shrimp in a basket dinner will cost $7.00. Take outs are available. Dinners will also be held each Friday through April 14th at the firehall on Route 46 South in Crosby.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a 2 vehicle accident on Route 255, in front of Burkes Home Center in Fox Township occurred around 1:00pm and was responded to by state police from Ridgway yesterday. Donald McCluskey was stopped in the left southbound lane, while Louis Dill was waiting to turn into a private driveway when he was struck from behind by Dill’s 1993 Ford Truck. McCluskey’s 2005 Chevrolet Truck was pushed approximately 100 feet before coming to rest. Witnesses stated that Dill was traveling at a high rate of speed. Charges are pending. Dill received minor injuries while McCluskey was not injured.
An accident Sunday on Cowley Hill Road in Portage Township, Potter County was responded to by state police from Coudersport around 10:30am. Saint Marys resident Angela Asti, 19, was traveling east. While negotiating a left curve in the roadway, she lost control of her 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier, sending the car across the westbound lane and into an embankment. She was apparently traveling too fast for conditions, according to troopers.
Harassment on Monday is under investigation by troopers from the Coudersport barracks after 37 year old Angela Simms of Austin received a threatening call from an unknown person.
And criminal mischief on Friday was investigated by Ridgway troopers. Sometime between 9:00am and 3:00pm someone broke windows on a dozer, excavator and roller owned by Kersey business Pollino Excavating. Those involved also drive the dozer into the woods and into a tree, according to state police.
An inmate at the prison in Elk county reportedly tried hanging himself yesterday afternoon. Warden Dan Shannon would not release the inmate’s name. However, he did state that the individual was okay.
And by the end of April, the Public Defender and HR for McKean County will be packing their bags and moving. According to Richard Casey, County Administrator, HR will be located where the public defender was previously. While the planning department is moved to the Old County Home on Route 6 and a holding cell is constructed on the third floor of the court house. The holding cell will be used during open court sessions, to hold those waiting to go before the judge.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…numerous accidents over the weekend were reported by state police in our listening area.
Ridgway based state police tell us that around 11:30am Sunday, a Brookville man was northbound on Chicken Hill Road in Fox Township when he failed to negotiate a curve and his 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier impacted the embankment before it rolled back onto the roadway. Shawn Miller, 23, was the operator, according to state police. He was cited for careless driving and failure to drive at a safe speed. His 18 year old passenger, Joseph Costanzo III of Kersey received minor injuries, while Miller escaped injury.
DUI was the reason for an accident involving a 25 year old Ridgway man on Sunday on Route 219 on the Boot Jack Hill. State police from the Ridgway barracks state that David Kennedy lost control of his 1999 Oldsmobile Sedan while traveling north. His car left the east side of 219, crossed the north and southbound lanes and struck the guiderail. It then slid sideways across both lanes, coming to rest, facing north. Kennedy has been charged with DUI and several summary traffic violations.
Coudersport troopers tell us a Ulysses woman was cited after an accident along Route 449, 2 ½ miles south of Route 6 in Ulysses Township Saturday morning. Rachel Bachman, 21, was not injured after her 1998 Dodge Stratus fishtailed following a turn onto Route 449 around 10:35am. Her car traveled off the west side of the roadway, rolling onto its roof. Bachman was cited for several summary traffic violations.
And theft on Saturday in Weedville is under investigation after someone pumped $29.44 in gas and then drove off without paying. Those with information are asked to contact Ridgway based state police.
A passenger in a Rochester, PA man’s vehicle received injuries as the result of an accident on Saturday along Route 146, south of Bloomster Hollow Road in Sergeant Township. Kane troopers tell WQRM Kirk Chester, 34, was operating a 1979 Ford F-150 when he lost control on the snow covered roadway, sending his truck off the east berm and into an embankment before it rolled onto the passenger’s side. A passenger, Timothy McGonigal Jr., 33, of Pittsburgh was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected. He was transported to Bradford Regional before being taken to Hamot Medical Center. Chester was found to be DUI. And a second passenger was not wearing a seatbelt, and received no injuries.
Kane troopers responded to an accident along Route 321, Hamilton Township on Saturday after a Kane woman was involved in an accident just after 8:00pm. Troopers tell us Michele Bundy, 31, was operating a 1993 ford Ranger XL Sport. While traveling north, Bundy lost control on the snow and ice covered roadway, sending her truck across the northbound lane and into the guiderail before it went airborne and struck a utility pole. Bundy was taken to Kane Community Hospital for treatment of her minor injuries.
Harassment at the McFarland House Saturday was responded to by state police from Ridgway. Just after 1:00am state police tell us a known Johnsonburg woman grabbed Angela Iozzo of Johnsonburg by her hair, pulling her to the floor. Further details are not available.
Disorderly conduct by an Elizabethtown man on Saturday was investigated by Kane troopers after 26 year old Bret Shank was observed urinating on Welsh Street in Kane. Charges are being filed.
A Freedom, PA man’s camp was vandalized according to Kane troopers. Sometime between November 29th of 2005 and Friday of last week someone kicked open the back door to John Kirish’s camp along Eschrich Road in Lafayette Township. Taken was a $30.00 DVD Player, only after those involved consumed a bottle of whiskey. Those with information are asked to contact state police.
A Brockport woman’s home was damaged following a break-in on Wednesday. Ridgway troopers are investigating a break-in at the home of Danielle Torrez after someone damaged 4 windows, took a bottle of whiskey and departed.
And 2 Bradford woman and a girl from Utica, PA were all cited following an incident on November 14th in Lewis Run. Kane troopers state that Tasha Elliot, 21, of Bradford and 26 year old Diane Lozada of Utica were charged after calling Stephanie Gallik several times, leaving her harassing messages. Gallik was also cited for filing a false claim for an incident which didn’t take place.
The Eldred Community Group will meet tomorrow at 1:00pm at the Senior Center to discuss community related projects and organize committees. The public is invited.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet, according to state police in our listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.
Caution is advised, as winds are picking up and its expected to stay very windy into this afternoon for McKean Potter, Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties in our listening area.
Coudersport based state police investigated an incident of criminal mischief after an incident on Tuesday or Wednesday. Crystal Kinchen of Ulysses told troopers that someone damaged a section of electric fence surrounding her horse pasture. According to state police, no horses were injured as a result.
The scattering of rubbish by someone on an Austin man’s property on Tuesday is under investigation. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM someone dumped beer containers near his mailbox, hindering the delivery of mail on Tuesday. Those with details on this incident are asked to contact Coudersport based state police.
An theft in Roulette is under investigation by Coudersport PSP after an incident between December 14th and January 25th. Christina Bowser told troopers that a known person transferred approximately $3,000 from her account into a Paypal account.
A University of Pittsburgh at Bradford student is awaiting transfer to Chicago following a murder for hire scheme. Raquel Jaques, 24, was apprehended, taken before Judge Yoder by Sheriff Brad Mason, processed and detained.
Revisiting a story we did on Wednesday…The library in Wilcox may close as early as November of this year if their financial situation doesn’t improve. Serving Jones Township, patrons in that area would be forced to travel to Johnsonburg in addition to paying a fee at that library for the services they use. Library Director Barb Deponceau stated that if each resident gave as little as $20.00, the library would be able to keep services at their current level for as much as one year. The library was created in 1963 following the fold of the Wilcox School district.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…A DUI/Drug arrest was made on a man from Manheim, PA yesterday afternoon, according to Coudersport troopers. Steven Daggett, 42 was stopped along Route 872 at a checkpoint. The accused was found by troopers to be in possession of a small amount of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia. He was taken into custody, transported to Charles Cole and a blood test was done. The investigation continues and charges will be filed later.
Disorderly conduct Tuesday in West Branch township was investigated by state police from the Coudersport barracks. They tell us a goat owned by Dan Mock, 48, entered property owned by 38 year old David Burrous, also of Galeton. According to troopers, Mock had been warned to keep his animals off the victim’s property in the past. A citation was issued.
A one vehicle collision along SR2007 on Tuesday left a Johnsonburg man with minor injuries. Ridgway based state police state that Jason Jacob, 23, was traveling north when he failed to round a left hand curve. His 1998 Chevrolet Malibu left the east side of the roadway, entering a ditch before continuing north in the ditch before reentering the roadway and then entering the ditch once again where it came to rest. A 2 year old passenger also received minor injuries.
Vicki Kelly of Genesee told Coudersport based state police recently that someone stating he was a representative of First Citizens Bank of Philadelphia had told her she was entitled to a $10,000 grant. To receive the money, she would need to verify her account information. Needless to say, her account was debited nearly $400.00 and she has not seen the grant money. Those with details on this or any similar incidences are asked to contact state police in Coudersport.
A Galeton man has been arraigned after an incident Sunday at a Ulysses woman’s residents. Coudersport troopers state that Charles Culp, 33, ignored a PFA order while at the Crystal Kinchen residents when he prevented her from leaving, in addition to throwing her phone and making verbal threats. He was arrested, arraigned and released on bail of $3,000 unsecured.
And the furnishing of alcohol to minors was investigated by troopers from the Coudersport barracks after a parent of a known 12 year old female told troopers a 14 year old boy gave her daughter alcohol on January 15th. The investigation continues.
The board of the S.W. Smith Library in Port Allegany took another step toward acquiring the former property used by the Evangelical Methodist Church on Pine Street in the Port Allegany borough. An offer by Joe and Sue DeMott was also declined after much thought by the trustees of the library.
Treasures and Tales will be the theme of the 2006 Zippo/Case Swap meet to be held the weekend of July 21st and 22nd. The first Zippo/Case Swap Meet was help in 1995.
And the meeting of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Board of Directors scheduled for this evening has been canceled.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet, according to our checks with state police in Kane, Coudersport, Emporium and Ridgway. They tell us there were no related incidences to report either.
Kane troopers report they have filed charges against a Bradford man following an incident of harassment which occurred at midnight today. Richard Miller, 35, along with Katherine Meeks, 32, of Gifford were involved in a dispute when Miller pushed Meeks.
DUI by a Kane resident on Friday was investigated by state police there after they stopped terry Montgomery, 55, for erratic driving along Route 6. Charges were filed.
And burglary between the 3rd and the 14th of this month in Lafayette Township remains under investigation by troopers in Kane. Darell Myers of Erie told troopers he was renovating a home along Vira Drive. Upon his returning, he noticed someone had broken a window and then entered the home. Nothing appears to have been disturbed. Those with further information are asked to contact troopers.
The library in Wilcox was forced to reduce hours following the discovery that the library will have a lack of funds to cover extra activities. For more information on the new hours, contact the library.
After a delay with the DA being taken to a nearby hospital for coming down with something. John Pavlock was in attendance at the meeting to determine if James McMahon should receive a new trial for the stabbing death of Link Dowell in March of 2001.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an accident yesterday morning around 8:00am in Sharon Township ooccurred and was investigated by state police from Coudersport. Troopers tell WQRM Robert Burkett, 27, of Allegany, NY lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway, while traveling east of Honeoye Street. His vehicle traveled off the right berm and into a ditch. It then continued east and up an embankment where it flipped onto the driver’s side. A hit and run some time between the 1st and yesterday is under investigation. State police from Coudersport tell us someone struck a parked 2000 black Pontiac Grand Am owned by Josh Williams of Ulysses. Those with information are asked to contact state police.
And burglary on Monday is under investigation as someone broke into the Tracey Carnahan residence on Main Street in Kersey. It was discovered by state police from the Ridgway barracks that once inside, the actor, Gari Saline of Kersey, damaged property and then fled. Saline was apprehended and sent to the county jail in lieu of bail.
The Smethport School District Board of Directors spent much of last evening’s meeting taking care of financial matters. Other items taken care of during the meeting included acceptance of a bid for replacement mats for track and field, which were damaged in a fire in 2005 and approval for the 2006-2007 school year calendar.
In Otto-Eldred School Board news, an increase in lunch prices was approved, beginning the first of March. It will result in a 20 cent increase at the Elementary School and 15 cents at the High School, with a 25 cent increase for faculty and staff members.
A community-wide meeting will be held in Smethport to discuss the first 2 years of a 3-year planning grant made possible through the PA Route 6 Heritage Corporation. The meeting is planned for 7:00pm at the Court of Angels on Main Street

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…DUI by an Eldred woman on Sunday was investigated by state police from Kane. Cynthia Murphy, 43, was stopped by troopers after her erratic driving was called into troopers around 2:30am. Once troopers arrived, Murphy was identified and arrested.
An vehicle fire along SR 1010, just south of the Hickox Road in Genesee Township was responded to by Coudersport PSP Sunday afternoon. They tell WQRM the 1995 Dodge Ram 3500 began smoking before it became inoperable. No injuries were reported.
A Port Allegany teen was not injured after an accident on the Barnum Road in Eldred Township. Kane trooper state that Daniel Roche, 18, was driving a 1997 Saturn when he swerved to miss a deer, only to traveling off the east berm, over a 10 foot embankment and land in a creek.
Assault by a Coudersport resident against a known 17 year old female occurred last Tuesday, according to Coudersport based state police. Amanda Lunn, 25, is accused of engaging in a verbal argument with the teen before she reportedly shoved the teen to the ground. Lunn has been cited for harassment.
Theft from the Red Fern Restaurant in Kersey yesterday occurred and is being investigated by state police from Ridgway after Angeline Feldbauer, 58, of St. Marys and a known 73 year old, also from St. Marys ordered food and then departed without paying. Both individuals have been charged.
Theft from the Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad in Jones Township occurred some time on the 8th, 9th or 10th of this month as someone cut and departed with approximately 2,800 feet of copper wire. Anyone with information about suspicious vehicles in the area of a railroad crossing are urged to contact police as the cutting if the copper wires creates a safety hazard.
And burglary at a camp along the Caledonia Pike in Jay Township, Elk County occurred between the 1st and the 10th as someone forced their way into a camp owned by Ernie Warren of North Hun
nington, PA. Removed were 2 rifles, a compound bow, several portable radios, CDs, DVDs, a meet slicer and surround sound speakers. Those with details regarding this incident are asked to contact state police.Richard Truesdell, 46, a former funeral director in Portville has plead guilty to charges for 3rd degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. He must now register as a sex offender and serve 3 years probation. The incident involved a 13 year old girl. Truesdell, who operated the Guenther Funeral Home, will be sentenced in May.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Ridgway based state police tell us two teens were involved in an accident yesterday along Long Level Road in Ridgway Township yesterday afternoon. The 16 year old female driver was traveling toward Route 219 in a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier when she lost control on the slippery roadway. Panicking, the operator locked the brakes, sending the car downhill backwards at a slow speed. The car left the roadway, rolled onto the driver’s side before ending upside down on a short, but steep bank. The 17 year old passenger was transported to a medical facility for treatment of her minor injuries.
A Port Allegany woman was injured in an accident along Baker Road in Keating Township, McKean County early Tuesday morning. Kane based state police state that Diane Batt, 59, was traveling west when she moved to the berm to pass another vehicle. Doing so, her 20000 Chrylser LHS Sedan traveled into deep snow, traveling approximately 40 feet before striking a tree. Batt was taken to Charles Cole for treatment of her injuries.
Kane PSP tell WQRM a theft occurred between January 1st and February 4th as someone gained access to a checking account belonging to Kathy Jo Frontino of Smethport. The unknown person then withdrew $84.85 and called Frontino, posing as an employee of Wal-Mart, offering the victim a promotion. According to troopers, Frontino accepted the offer, which began the transaction from her checking account. Those with details about this incident are asked to contact state police. The investigation continues.
Criminal mischief on Patsy Cline road in Ridgway Township was investigated by state police from the Ridgway barracks after someone used a BB gun, small pellet gun or small caliber firearm to damage a street light. A front window on a dwelling owned by Anthony Dottore of Mentor, Ohio was also damaged.
McKean County Commissioners took action yesterday to save the county nearly $80,000 by refinancing bonds at lower interest rates. The saved money will be set aside for capital improvements or for a contingency fund, according to Commissioner Egbert.
In other McKean County news…6 persons are in the candidate pool for the county warden position, according to Legal Affairs and HR Director Michele Alfieri. The deadline for submitting qualifications is today. Alfieri said that of those applications received, some were local, while others from were out-of-state.
Officials with Weyerhauser in Johnsonburg have stated that rumors circulating as to the sale of the plant are just that. According to Ron King, PR Director, rumors have been floating around since late last year as to the sale of the Johnsonburg plant, which was purchased in 2002 from Willamette.

A Kersey teen has been charged in connection with a theft from the St. Marys Wal-mart, according to Ridgway based state police. Justin Stover, 18, reportedly entered the store and attempted to remove a Hugo Boss watch.
A one vehicle crash on Reed Run road in Keating Township on Tuesday left an Emporium man with minor injuries. State police from Coudersport state that James Roberto was operating a 1994 Toyota Truck when it left the roadway and struck an embankment. It then rolled onto its roof. Roberto was transported to Charles Cole for treatment.
And someone reportedly removed 3 playstation games and a DVD set from the residence of Nathaniel Assalone of Force. This according to Ridgway PSP who continue their investigation.
And a Megan’s Law violation by a Bradford man was investigated by Kane troopers. Thomas Barnes, 40, a registered offender, was charged with two felony counts and 2 misdemeanor counts for failure to provide accurate employer information. He was arraigned and sent to the county jail lieu of $5,000 cash bail.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…according to our checks with state police in Emporium, Kane, Coudersport and Ridgway, all was quiet and there were no related incidences to report either.
Underage drinking by a known juvenile Monday was investigated by state police from the Kane barracks. The juvenile was cited for the incident.
Assault by a Rixford woman toward two people on the 2nd occurred along Dennis Hollow Road in Otto Township. State police from Kane tell WQRM Deniece Abbey, 38, was accused of engaging in a verbal argument with William Foster of Rixford and Regina Lawson of Duke Center. Abbey was charged for the incident.
Talks, which started last year ended with Smethport Borough employees receiving a 3 percent hike in their pay. Council approved the hike in an executive session Monday during their meeting. Council also agreed to being a co-signer for a Hamlin Library application for a Keystone grant.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet despite the blowing and drifting of snow. There were no related incidences to report either.
Theft from a residence along Brooklynside Road in Port Allegany was investigated by Kane PSP yesterday after it was reported that a wallet was taken from the home of Patricia Larson. It was discovered that the said wallet was taken by Paula Larson, also a Port Allegany resident. No charges were filed.
A crash along Route 219, just north of Burning Well in Sergeant Township was responded to by Kane troopers Sunday evening. Anton Barkov, 32, of Toronto was traveling north in a 1992 Lexus on the snow and ice covered roadway. While attempting to pass another vehicle Barkov lost control of his vehicle while attempting to re-enter his own lane. The Barkov vehicle traveled off the east side of 219, impacted an embankment and rolled onto its roof. Barkov escaped injury, according to troopers.
Simple assault charges, among others, were filed against 33 year old Brett Kaple of Roulette after an incident Saturday in his home. Coudersport based state police state that Kaple verbally confronted Clarissa Connelly after the two arrived back at their shared residence. Numerous items in the apartment they share were destroyed by Kaple before Kaple injured Connelly and placed her in fear of being injured further. Kaple was charged with simple assault, harassment, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Criminal mischief in Emporium on the 3rd or 4th is under investigation after someone pushed over a mailbox belonging to Mary Stuckey of Meadow Road.
A 2 vehicle accident along Route 155, ½ mile south of Champlin Hill Road in Annin township was responded to by Kane troopers around 3:00pm. The collision occurred as Rita Greville, 50, of Kane was trav
eling north in a 1996 International UPS truck. Casey Freeman, 18, of Shinglehouse was operating a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina in the southbound lane. Greville hit a patch of ice, sliding into Freeman’s lane where she was struck by Freeman’s car. Freeman was taken to Charles Cole for treatment of her minor injuries.The fate of 1,300 employees of Adelphia is still in limbo. The company is one step closer to being absorbed into Time Warner and Comcast. Time Warner will obtain the Coudersport buildings, with a commitment to keep at least half the workforce for 1 year. On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…a fatal crash along the Toby Road in Fox Township on Sunday claimed the life of a 12 year old girl, according to Ridgway based state police. Troopers state that a 17 year old driver was operating 1995 Dodge Caravan at an unsafe speed when she lost control, and traveled down an embankment before the van rolled. The decedent and a 14 year old were not wearing seatbelts, both being throw from the van. Another passenger, 19 year old Benjamin Austin was using a seatbelt as was the driver. The 14 year old male thrown from the van was taken to Elk Regional before being sent to UPMC in Pittsburgh. The investigation is ongoing.
A Kane woman may be charged after a hit and run Sunday along Route 446 in Eldred Township. Kane state police tell us Lisa Swartwood, 38, was northbound when she lost control of her 96 Chevrolet Van,
sending it into the guiderails before entering a yard and rutting the same. Swartwood then left without contacting the property owner.DUI on Sunday has a Wilcox man in trouble with state police from Ridgway after John McMahon, 58, was stopped Sunday along Rasselas Road in Jones Township for a traffic violation, when they determined he was DUI.
DUI in Genesee Township Saturday has a Belmont teen in trouble. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM Jamie Buzzard was found to be DUI after an incident just before 5:00am. Numerous charges were filed: DUI, purchase, consumption and possession of an alcoholic beverage.
Dustin Jacoby, 19, of Smethport was the driver of a 1995 Plymouth Neon involved in an accident Saturday morning along Route 59. Kane PSP tell us Jacoby was traveling east when he swerved to miss a deer, sending his car into the guardrail. Jacoby’s car crossed both lanes of traffic, left the roadway and entered a ditch. The car then crossed both lanes again and impacted the guiderail. Jacoby exited the car and walked away, according to troopers who investigated. He was later found at an apartment in Smethport. Charges are pending.
A Galeton teen was not injured following an accident along Route 144, south of Pigeon Road in West Branch Township. Coudersport based state police tell us the 17 year old male lost control of his 1995 Dodge Spirit on the icy roadway, sending the car into the embankment on each side of the roadway.
DUI by aCoudersport man on Saturday was investigated by state police there after Drew Watson, 26, was traveling east on Chestnut Street in the borough. He was seen by troopers committing a traffic violation, when they stopped Watson. He was taken to Charles Cole for a BAC test and will be charged with DUI, failure to stop at posted signs and failure to use a seatbelt.
Stephanie Geci, 34, of Austin was not injured after an accident Saturday 3 miles south of Route 607 in Portage Township. Coudersport PSP tell WQRM Geci was traveling north when her 1998 Ford Explorer left the roadway and struck an embankment. Geci was cited for not driving at a safe speed.
A Reynoldsville man was not injured during an accident Friday along Route 255, in Jay Township, Elk County. State police from the Ridgway barracks state that Seth Bowker, 20, was northbound on Route 255 when his rear brake light caught fire. Bowker stopped the vehicle at that time and attempted to extinguish the fire.
Disorderly conduct by a Ulysses man Sunday near the Walheim Bar in Abbott Township left Greg Grant with charges pending after he was seen just after midnight relieving himself.
A Johnsonburg man was found in the ANF in Jones Township, Elk County after being reported as missing by Johnsonburg Boro Police on Friday. Ridgway based state police state that John Huber, 58, was found after an extensive search late last week.
Criminal mischief by 15 18 year olds Friday in the St. Marys Wal-mart was investigated by state police from the Ridgway barracks after those involved broke a bag of flour in the clothing department, in addition to tipping over a ball display. Those with further details are asked to contact state police.
Known person were involved in a theft Thursday in Roulette. Those involved, according to Coudersport PSP, removed about 34 prescription pills from a residence. The investigation continues.
And Jose’s Bar in Lewis Run was the sight of a reported incident of aggravated assault after Jennifer Hensley, 28, of Bradford pulled out a knife and stabbed Daniel Benner, also from Bradford, in the arm pit. Hensley was arrested and sent to the McKean County jail on $5,000 cash bail.

Underage drinking in Potter County on January 15th is under investigation by state police in Coudersport. According to their report, a known 12 year old female consumed an alcoholic beverage provided by a known 14 year old male.
Millions of dollars are expected to be spent in a renovation at St. Boneventure University in Allegany. $8 million is to be spent in a facelift of Hickey Dining Hall and residence halls. A 5,000 foot square foot addition to the dining hall is also planned.
And the next meeting for the McKean County Comprehensive Plan will be held Wednesday at 7:00pm at the Port Allegany Moose Lodge.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a Weedville woman was not injured in an accident along Route 555, just east of the Caledonia Pike Road in Jay Township. Ridgway based state police tell WQRM Coleen Kronenwetter, 45, was operating a 2000 Ford F-250 eastbound when the truck crossed the southbound lane, left the north side of the roadway traveling east and entering a ditch where it ascended an embankment and hit a tree. Charges for careless driving are pending.
An accident on Route 49 yesterday morning was responded to by Coudersport based state police after a two vehicle incident just before 10:30am. The incident occurred as Robert Dorociak, 33, of North Tonawanda, NY attempted to make a U-turn while traveling west on Route 49. Kevin Miller, 38, of Coudersport attempted to overtake the Dorociak vehicle, according to troopers, causing a collision. No injuries were reported, however, Dorociak will be cited for the u-turn.
Erie Insurance’s location in St. Marys was investigated after a fire on Wednesday where a 2001 Ford Explorer was damaged, to the tune of $2,000. The fire was determined to be accidental.
A domestic dispute at a residence in Bingham Township on Tuesday was responded to by Coudersport troopers. The investigation continues into an incident where Lawrence Thompson and Jennette Moon pushed each other.
A parking meter along the Old Kersey Road just south of Route 255 was found in Kersey on Tuesday. Those with information on how the meter was removed and relocated are asked to contact state police in Ridgway.
A hit and run in the parking lot of Wal-mart in St. Marys occurred and was investigated by state police from Ridgway on January 29th. The report issued states that someone hit a legally parked vehicle before fleeing. Those with details of the incident are asked to contact state police.
And Coudersport based state police tell WQRM a high tech trespass incident occurred as a known person used a computer owned by john Harmon of Genesee between January 22nd and the 29th, sending unwanted e-mails and removing names from the victim’s mailing list. Charges were not filed.

Criminal mischief along Looker Mountain Trail in Otto Township was investigated by state police in Kane after someone damaged a 1991 Toyota truck owned by Jessica Lupold of Rixford.
Theft from a Kersey Man’s residence occurred Sunday or Monday as someone removed the license plate on a vehicle owned by Ronald Billotte.
Coudersport troopers tell us they are investigating an incident of harassment by a known 56 year old male with a 14 year old.
And burglary some time in January is still under investigation by Coudersport troopers after someone entered a barn owned by Randy Cornelius of Roulette, removed a set of tire chains from a farm tractor. Those with further details are asked to contact state police.
There’s no word at this time as to if Honeywell workers began a strike at midnight as was planned. According to an article in today’s Bradford Era, negotiations had taken place over the past weeks, with no suitable offer made as of Friday. Honeywell has locations in 95 countries.
