On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a collision occurred yesterday morning along Route 44, near the Hungry Hollow Road intersection. State police from Coudersport state that a Cross Fork man, James Churchill, 21, was traveling south when he lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway, sending the Churchill vehicle across the northbound lane and into an embankment, where it flipped and came to rest on the driver’s side. Churchill was taken to Charles Cole for treatment of his minor injuries.

Criminal mischief in Cameron County is under investigation by state police in Emporium after someone struck a mailbox owned by rose Moore of Beechwood Road. The incident occurred between Saturday and Monday.

A similar incident, involving Christopher Haas’ mailbox on the Moore Hill Road was also investigated by state police in Emporium, who tell WQRM the incident occurred on the 28th or 29th.

Retail theft from the ST. Marys Wal-Mart has charges pending against a known juvenile after the individual attempted to take an unnamed item.

Criminal mischief between Friday and Monday in Lewis Run Borough left a rear passenger window on a vehicle owned by Jennifer Otto of Lewis Run damaged. The incident was investigated by state police from Kane.

Vandalism at the Maxwell Run Cemetery on Spring Creek in Elk County is under investigation by state police from the Ridgway barracks after someone removed several headstones, taking them to the edge of the cemetery and breaking them. Those with further details are asked to contact state police.

An accident along Route 120 in Driftwood occurred Sunday as Ralph Stoltenburg Jr of Butler was traveling east in an 89 Toyota 4 Runner. He lost control on a patch of ice before the vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof. Stoltenburg and a passenger, Kay Robinson, also from Butler, were wearing seatbelts and received no injuries.

A New Jersey man escaped injury after an accident along Route 46 on Sunday. Emporium troopers tell us Terence Bane, 39, of Leonardo was operating a 1999 Ford F-150 in a southerly direction when his truck slid on ice, sending it off the western side and into an embankment. It then spun clockwise, striking an embankment again.

Kathleen Morton, 22, of Emporium was injured during an accident along Route 46, north of Old North Creek Road in Shippen Township. Emporium based state police tell WQRM Morton was operating a 1997 Chrysler Cirrus when she lost control on the ice covered roadway. The car crossed both lanes of travel before hitting an embankment. The vehicle then slid back across both lanes, coming to rest against the guiderails. Morton was transported to Elk Regional for treatment by Emporium rescue personnel.

Harassment by an Emporium man on Thursday was investigated by state police there after 38 year old Paul Powell was involved in a telephone conversation with 22 year old Lacey Singer, of Emporium. Powell, according to troopers, threatened to shoot the victim.

Burglary charges, among others, were field against an Emporium man after he made a false claim to troopers regarding a controlled substance. Michael Leightley was charged with criminal trespass, false reports to law enforcement, receiving stolen property and theft, along others for an incident on the 21st.

And DUI by a Kane man on the 30th of December was investigated by state police in Kane. Kenneth Johnson was driving south on Northwest Road when he stopped at the intersection with Route 6, where two police cruisers were parked. He attempted to back down and turn around when troopers stopped him and determined he was DUI.

A meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow evening at 7:00 for parents of those students who will be in 8th grade at Floyd C. Fretz in Bradford during the 2006-2007 school year. Those attending the meeting, in the high school cafeteria, are asked to use the auditorium entrance. Those with questions can contact the guidance office at Fretz.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…DUI by a Ridgway man was investigated by state police on Sunday after Christopher Severence, 29, was stopped at the intersection of Elk Avenue and South Street in Ridgway Borough. Severence was determined to be DUI, arrested and charges are forthcoming.

A hit and run in the parking lot of the Mountain Inn in Sergeant Township on Saturday or Sunday remains under investigation after someone in what is described as a two-tome extended cab truck backed into 97 Mercury Tracer owned by Christopher Hamilton of Mount Jewett. The unknown driver then backed into a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am owned by Deana Calla of St. Marys. Those with further details are asked to contact state police in Kane

Kane based state police tell WQRM Scott Nickerson, 26, of Port Allegany was the operator of a 1998 Toyota Camry involved in a hit and run on Saturday in Duke Center. Nickerson was traveling west when he crossed the center line, entered a ditch, traveled approximately 40 feet and then struck a cement culvert. Nickerson failed to notify troopers about the accident. Several charges have been filed.

Criminal mischief by several people is under investigation by state police in Kane after someone struck approximately 20 mailboxes in Lafayette Township. Those with details are asked to contact state police.

Frederic Cook of Seweckley was the operator of a 2001 Lincoln Continental driven on Saturday when an accident occurred along Laurel Mill Road in Ridgway Township. State police from the Ridgway barracks state that Cook was traveling west when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway, sending his car into a ditch. It was determined that Cook was DUI. A passenger, Susan Bell of Ridgway, was not injured.

An investigation into the death of a Brockport man continues by state police in Ridgway after 47 year old Michael Moline was found in his home, unconscious and not breathing. Moline was taken to Elk Regional where he was pronounced deceased

Kane based state police tell us a mail scam is going on throughout the area. The scam includes a fake international lottery, where they request 5% of your winnings to receive the entire amount.

Cruelty to animals by a Smethport man is under investigation by state police from Kane after Frank Hudak Jr. is being charged after reportedly shot a 2 ½ year old Labrador owned by James Arthurs Jr, also from Smethport. Charges are being filed and the canine later died.

And theft from Ski Denton in Potter County between the 21st and the 27th is under investigation after someone took a pair of Rossignal TDI skis and poles belonging to a known 17 year old male. Those with details are asked to contact state police in Coudersport.

St. Marys is set to gain another chain restaurant as Hoss’s Steak house opens in the former Bonanza and Finney’s restaurant on Haller Road. The new restaurant is set to open in early April, according to the district manager.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…according to our checks with state police this morning, all was quiet. There were no related incidences to report either.

A Germania teen is in trouble with state police in Coudersport after an incident on Thursday. State police tell us the known 17 year old male was found to have consumed an alcoholic beverage. Charges have been filed.

And Kane troopers tell WQRM a Kane woman has been charged with serving a minor after an incident on the 15th in Smethport. Krystle Causer, 21, will be cited for the incident.

According to reports, Smethport teen Sarah Gee who was involved in an accident along Route 770 on the 15th is still in the ICU at Hamot Medical Center. Her condition was not available as of yesterday, according to a report in today’s Bradford Era.

The first piece of steel is set to be placed today in the Seneca Nations Salamanca Hotel project. The ceremony begins at 8:00am. The hotel is set to create up to 450 new jobs at the Seneca Allegany Casino.

And money raised from this evenings spaghetti dinner at the Bradford High School in the cafeteria will go toward the Choral Boosters Scholarship Fund. The dinner will be available from 4:30 to 7:00, with take-outs available.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…A Ulysses man was behind the wheel of a 2005 Ford F-350 when it was involved in an accident at the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum in Ulysses Township. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM Stephen Heck Jr, 39, of Ulysses was traveling in a southerly direction when he lost control of his truck on the slippery roadway, sending his truck into a speed limit sign. Both Heck and a passenger, 21 year old Scott Crumrine were using seatbelts. No injuries were reported.

Coudersport based state police investigated an accident along Route 44, 1 mile south of Route 49 yesterday morning after 25 year old Amy Bittner of Shinglehouse was involved in an accident. According to troopers, Bittner was traveling south in a 1994 Eagle Sedan when she lost control of her car on the snow covered roadway. The car slid off the roadway, overturned and struck a ditch. Bittner was transported to Charles Cole for treatment of her minor injuries. She will be charged by state police for failure to drive at a safe speed and driving while privileges were revoked.

A 2 vehicle accident along West 5th Street in Emporium yesterday morning was responded to by trooper there. Regis Malizia, 45, of Emporium was traveling east on West 5th Street. While attempting to stop his 1997 Jeep Cherokee, his vehicle slid on an ice patch, through a stop sign and into a 1992 Orion II Bus operated by 65 year old Walter Holly of Emporium.

Theft from the Wal-mart in St. Marys left a St. Marys man, 22 year old Joseph McClain, in trouble Wednesday with state police from Ridgway. The report issued states that McClain was stopped by Wal-Marts loss prevention team and will be charged with retail theft, pending court proceedings.

Burglary from a South Maple Street home in Emporium is under investigation by state police there. Sometime on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week someone entered the home of Martha Morse through the open front door, removed a wallet and change purse and fled. The investigation continues.

A hit and run Tuesday on the South Kersey Road in Fox Township left a Kersey teenager charged after he was traveling south on the South Kersey Road, crossed the northbound lane in his 1995 Dodge Neon, striking a mailbox and continuing south. State police from Ridgway state that Craig Holterback, 18, then traveled across a yard, striking a tree. Holterback then had the moderately damaged car removed from the scene by a known person, without notification to the property owners of the mailbox he damaged or to police. Holterback, who was not injured during the incident, may be charged with failure to drive at a safe speed, among other offenses. A passenger in the Holterback vehicle 24 year old Kersey resident Adam Krivonyak was also not injured. No details were released regarding a female 16-year-old passenger in Holterback’s car.

Theft from Sylvania Restaurant on Route 6 in Ulysses Township has a York, PA man along with a 17 year old in trouble with state police in Coudersport. Jacob Howard Shaffer, 18, and the unnamed 17 year old were apprehended at a seasonal dwelling after they departed the restaurant without paying for food they had purchased. They were also wanted for a burglary earlier at a camp owned by Richard Tobias and a theft from Connie’s Market on Monday. The juvenile was sent to the juvenile detention center in Wellsboro while Schaffer was placed in the Potter County jail.

And harassment charges were filed against a Coudersport woman after she allegedly became involved in a verbal dispute with 19 year old Erica Geci of Austin. Coudersport based state police state that Brooke Pelchy, 22, will be charged with harassment and criminal trespass for her involvement in the dispute.

McKean County food and shelter programs are set to receive nearly $27,000 from the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. To be eligible, the organization must be private, volunteer based and have a volunteer board, among other stipulations. Public or private organizations interested in applying can contact the United Way of the Bradford Area.

And Representative Kathy Rapp announced that the Kane Senior Center has been awarded a grant for $5,565 for use in purchasing a dishwasher, dining tables, and swivel chairs. The money is through a Community and Economic Development grant.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…despite additional snow fall, making some roads slippery we have no incidences to report on the traffic and accident scene. Thus far, there have also been to reported school delays.

Ridgway based state police tell us an act of criminal mischief on the Sunday or Monday occurred on property owned by Mario Sidelinger Jr. of Byrnedale. According to the report issued, two small chips were found in the windshield of the victim’s 1990 GMC truck. Those having information are asked to contact state police.

Theft from a vehicle owned by Mary Hengst of Ridgway is under investigation by state police there. Some time Monday between 3:00 and 3:30am the victim’s stereo was removed from her unlocked vehicle. The stereo is a Panasonic brand, valued at $120.00. Anyone with information about this is asked to contact state police in Ridgway.

Burglary from an Emporium apartment occurred Saturday as someone entered an apartment rented by Karen Foley and Tina Bargerstock. After entering through an unlocked door, the person or persons involved took prescription medication, cigarettes and about $30.00 in cash. The investigation continues.

And harassment between January 13th and the 20th in Ridgway occurred as someone engaged in annoying and alarming behavior along Route 948. No further details are available.

Yesterday morning saw students in the Bradford High School in lockdown. According to Principal Ken Coffman, a search of lockers was done by the state police and a drug detection canine. Any illegal substances found would be handled by the district administration, according to Coffman. Superintendent Sandra Romanowski added that the service by the state police is at no cost to the district. Coffman also added that those students found with an illegal substance stand to be suspended or expelled, with drug counseling mandatory. The exercise is conducted yearly.

An ongoing dispute between 3 Bradford residents and the city has come to an end. The citations against Tom Riel, Dianne Thompson and Fred Pysher for allegations they improperly posted signs was dismissed by the District justice during his last day in office, December 31st. The incident stemmed from a signed posted by Riel mentioning his opposition to Bradford City government.

And over $300,000 is set to be used on new voting machines for McKean County, set to arrive just in time for the May Primary. According to County Administrator Richard Casey, the county would like to see at least one machine in each district with back-ups that can be moved as necessary. Casey also stated that 70 voting machines could be coming to the county, with 42 needed for the districts in the county. Director of Elections Judy Ordiway stated that tabulation of the votes will still be done in the elections office.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Coudersport based state police responded to and accident along Route 44 around 12:20pm yesterday. They state that David Elliott, 64, of Dalmatia was traveling north on the snow covered and slushy roadway when his vehicle began to fishtail, crossing the center line and striking a tree before coming to rest. Elliott’s 2001 Ford F-150 was towed from the scene. Elliot escaped injury.

A Johnsonburg man and his wife escaped injury following an afternoon accident yesterday along Route 219, just south of the Route 948 intersection. Ridgway based state police tell us John McGonigal, 79, was operating a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado, with Antoinette McGonigal as his passenger, when his vehicle left the roadway along the eastern berm, entered a ditch and struck a culvert.

The investigation into a fire yesterday continues after a single family home occupied by the Comilla family of Bradford received heavy damage. State police from Kane are being assisted by the Bradford Township Police Department and fire Department.

Burglary between the 16th and this past Saturday was investigated by state police in Coudersport after someone illegally entered the Richard Tobias camp along Victory Lane in Ulysses. Taken were a DVD/VCR Player, various beverages and a Red Rider BB Gun.

An unknown person confronted a Westfield man Saturday along North Branch Road in Westfield. Coudersport based state police state that Jason Howell was confronted and struck after a road rage incident around 12:30pm Saturday. The accused is described as a white male, possibly in his mid 40’s, approximately 6’0" with a stocky build. He was driving a dark blue or black full sized Dodge or Ford pickup. Those with further details are asked to contact state police in Coudersport.

Bad check writing by someone at Connie’s Market in Harrison Valley occurred recently. No details were released by Coudersport PSP as to the identity of the person involved.

And harassment on the 17th by a known 16 year old occurred along Route 49. State police tell WQRM the incident occurred between two 16 year old juveniles. The accused will be charged with harassment.

The Wilcox library may cease operations soon, if budget shortfalls are not made up. The library is asking for residents to donate a minimum of $20.00, in an attempt to make up for the lack of funds. Should the library close, those funds currently going toward the library would be distributed to another community.

And the 4th Annual Westend Trailblazers Winterfest will be held this Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Kaple’s Farm in Roulette. The event will offer food and beverages, a DJ, sleigh rides and much more. The event will be held snow or shine.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…An accident Saturday afternoon along Brizzie Hollow Road in Potter County left an Oswayo man uninjured following a 5:00pm accident. State police from Coudersport tell us Barton Landon, 55, was operating a 19991 Oldsmobile southbound when he left the roadway to avoid a bear. His vehicle hit a culvert, causing damage to the undercarriage of the car.

Kane based state police tell us a Rew man will be charged following an accident along Route 646. Charles Thomas Jr. was stopped by two state troopers shortly before 9:00pm on Saturday. He was found to be under the influence.

Ridgway troopers are charging a Kersey man after they determined Randal Rippy, 21, was DUI during a speeding incident Friday evening in Dagus Mines, Fox Township.

Trespassing by an Emporium resident on Sunday left Kay Baker charged by state police there after she reportedly entered property owned by Fred Garber of Wykoff Run Road.

Public drunkenness by a Mount Jewett man was investigated by state police from Kane after Jason Wall was found walking along Route 6, staggering in an intoxicated state while carrying his 2 year old child shortly before 3:00am Saturday.

Theft from a Wilcox man’s garage is under investigation by state police in Ridgway after someone removed a box end wrench from a garage owned by Gerald Sidelinger. Those involved then fled the scene. Those having further details are asked to contact state police in Ridgway or Elk County Crimestoppers.

Another incident on property owned by Fred Garber of Wykoff Run Road occurred between Saturday and Sunday when someone removed key from the victim’s vehicle.

Charges are pending against two known 20 year olds after an incident in Roulette on Saturday. Coudersport PSP tell us the male actors were involved in a fight on Main Street, after one of those involved reportedly pushed a female juvenile to the ground. During the investigation by troopers, it was discovered that the juveniles were under the influence.

Underage consumption by an Austin woman was investigated by state police Friday morning. Coudersport authorities tell WQRM Crystal Smith, 20, was involved in an accident along Railroad Street in the borough. A summary charge has been filed.

And the Committee of the Whole meeting planned by the Port Allegany School Board for today has been canceled.

On the traffic and accident scene over night and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in Ridgway, Kane, Coudersport and Emporium. There were no related incidences to report either.

A state police fire marshall investigation into a fire at the home of Bruce and Tracy Stone of Looker Mountain Trail, Otto Township continues. The home, owned by Frank Barton of Rixford, was damaged to the tune of approximately $150,000. Five fire companies were on the scene the yesterday afternoon fighting the blaze.

A one vehicle accident on Tuesday along Route 46, 3 miles south of McKean County in Shippen Township left a Crosby resident unharmed. Emporium troopers tell WQRM Tanya Comfort, 23, was operating a 93 Toyota 4 Runner in a northerly direction when she lost control on the ice covered roadway, sending the vehicle across th4 southbound lane and into a ditch where it flipped onto its side. Comfort was wearing a seatbelt.

And an investigation into the death of 58 year old Genesee resident Thomas Truax was ruled as natural after someone had noticed the deceased had not picked up his mail in a week. State police from Coudersport investigated.

Adelphia was the topic of a meeting held by Ridgway borough council recently. Other topics discussed was the traffic pattern near the Kwik Fill on West Main Street. The next council meeting is slated for February 20th in the council meeting room at 7:00pm.

Representative Martin Causer is still pushing for the passage of legislation to create a new EMS agency. Causer introduced House Bill 1282 last fall. The legislation is also backed Kersey Representative Dan Surra.

And Governor Rendell is pushing for Republicans to join him in the push for a minimum wage increase. Originally proposed was a $2.00 increase over 2 years. A smaller bill has been sent through for an increase of only $1.10 an hour.

The youth recreation center in Limestone has closed indefinitely. The committee of the center, located behind the elementary school, will hold an organizational meeting January 30th at 7:00pm at the center. Interested persons are invited to attend. Those with questions can attend the meeting or contact Sandy Tully, youth director.

Johnsonburg kindergarten registration will be held February 23rd for those who will be 5 on or before August 23,2006. Registration will take place at the Elementary School for the 2006-2007 school year. Hours are 9:00am to 11:30am and Noon to 2:30pm. You should take with you your child’s legal birth certificate, immunization proof and vaccine records. Those with questions can contact the elementary school.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…A Shinglehouse man was not injured after an accident along McCrea Brook Road yesterday morning. State police from Kane tell us Ronald Willetts, 19 was operating a 2004 Dodge Dakota when he lost control, hitting 3 parked cars. No injuries were reported. Charges are pending.

A one vehicle accident yesterday morning along Route 6 in Wetmore Township left a Kane woman uninjured. Troopers from the barracks in Kane state that Chara Ayars, 30, was eastbound when her 94 Buick Century spun counterclockwise on the icy roadway, entering the westbound lane. It then slid off the north side of the roadway before striking a tree. Ayars was cited for failure to change his registration address.

And DUI left a Pittsburgh man with minor injuries after his 1998 Lincoln Navigator left Route 255 last evening. Ridgway PSP tell us Dennis Postufka, 45, attempted to negotiate a right curve while passing another vehicle. Re-entering the northbound lane, his vehicle began to spin counter-clockwise, before crossing the southbound lane, exiting the west berm and hitting a utility pole. The vehicle then continued, only to hit another tree. Charges are pending.

An accident along Route 49 Tuesday was responded to by state police around 7:45pm. 56 year old Janine Morley, from Genesee, was operating a 2002 Ford Taurus eastbound on Route 49 when she lost control. The car began fishtailing before it rotated clockwise before entering the south berm and hitting a bank. The Morley vehicle then rolled onto its roof before coming to rest in a ditch. Morley was not injured according to troopers from Coudersport.

State police from Kane responded to a one vehicle accident on the West Eldred Road Tuesday evening. According to troopers, Lynn Gatz, 59, of Randolph, NY was operating a 96 Oldsmobile Sedan when he lost control, sending the car off the east side and into a utility pole. Gatz was taken to Bradford Regional for evaluation. He was also cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

An Oswayo man is being charged in connection with damage to tail lights on a vehicle owned by a Cyclone man, involving an incident Tuesday. Coudersport based state police investigated the incident where Derick Taft, 20, reportedly committed the act of criminal mischief around 8:00pm on Tuesday in front of the John Vandeerman residence.

McKean County could become a bit wealthier if funds from a real estate tax on cell phones follows through. Twelve taxable cell towers will be on the tax rolls, possibly bringing in an additional $16,000.

Chairman of the McKean County Commissioners stated recently that he hopes to see the completion of talks over the end of the Solid Waste Authority. If all goes as planned, the SWA could dissolve in 2007, pending the payment of two bonds.

And a benefit for Sam Scott will be held Saturday at 6:00pm at Byllye Lanes in Bradford. Scott had 2 organ transplants in late December. Money raised will go toward costs associated with his transplants. There is room for one more team for the benefit.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a crash along Route 255 around 8:00pm yesterday left a St. Marys woman with minor injuries. State police from Ridgway tell WQRM Linda Heidrich, 57, was operating a 1999 Plymouth Neon in a northerly direction when she lost control on the icy roadway. Heidrich was cited for not driving at a safe speed.

A Harrison Valley woman was investigated after state police from Coudersport looked into an incident where Etelka Mattison’s vehicle was borrowed and not returned as agreed upon. According to troopers, Tonya Sparks agreed to return the Mattison vehicle the next day. She kept the vehicle for approximately 2 months.

Burglary between November 1st and the 15th of this month is under investigation by troopers from the Ridgway barracks after someone removed various auto parts from Brendel’s Auto Sales in Ridgway.

And a Rochester man is a fugitive from justice. State police based in Coudersport tell WQRM Sean Piccareto, 29, was wanted by New York authorities, when they charged him for an incident on the 10th. He’s awaiting extradition to New York.

Someone in the cafeteria in the Smethport school district stands to lose their job, under a restructuring by the school board in an attempt to balance the budget. After the layoffs, 3 part-timers will be gone and 4 full time employees will be dropped to part-time status.

In Chapter 11 bankruptcy since 2002, Adelphia Communications is asking to erase over $3 billion in claims. Now based in Colorado, Adelphia mentioned the move in a SEC filing. A hearing is set for early March.

Free health screenings will be held by Charles Cole during a January 23rd Health Fair at the Emporium Health Center. The Sizerville Road wellness center are open to the public, appointments are not needed and hours will be 10:00am to 2:00pm.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…several accidents yesterday were responded to by state police in our listening area.

State police from Kane tell WQRM Erika Hess, 24, of Bradford was traveling south on Route 646 when she lost control of her 1994 Chevrolet S-10 while rounding a curve. The truck left the roadway, impacted an embankment, re-entered the roadway and came to rest along the northbound lane of Route 646. Hess was charged with failure to drive at a safe speed. She also received minor injuries as a result of the accident.

A Harrison Valley man received minor injuries as the result of an accident along Whites Corners Road in Harrison Township yesterday morning. Coudersport based state police state that 75 year old James Keating was driving north when he lost control of his 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer while negotiating a right hand curve. Nancy Nick, 67, of Smethport was not injured following an accident along Route 446 yesterday afternoon. State police from Kane tell WQRM Nick was operating a bus when she reached for a book bag, crossed the southbound lane and impacted a dirt embankment. Nick was charged with careless driving. A 7 year old passenger received minor injures as a result.

Courtney Housler, 22, of Emporium told troopers there she was the victim of an incident of burglary on Monday after someone entered her residence through a basement window. Once inside, according to troopers, approximately 80 to 85 vicodin tablets were removed from Housler’s bedroom. The investigation continues.

DUI by an Austin resident was investigated by state police from Coudersport Sunday morning as Jerry Marks was stopped along Route 872, 1 mile north of Austin after driving at a high rate of speed.

Criminal mischief on the 14th or 15th in Genesee is under investigation by state police from Coudersport. Lori Witucki told troopers that someone punctured a tire on her vehicle. Those with further details are asked to contact state police.

Emporium troopers investigated an incident of criminal mischief after someone damaged a mailbox owned by John Richnafsky of Pine Tree Road.

And the Smethport Chamber will meet tomorrow at 8:00am at the visitor’s Center.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…A two vehicle collision on Route 255 in Jay Township occurred yesterday afternoon. Ridgway troopers tell WQRM Steve Fantechi, 37, of Weedville was traveling north while Jerome Trenn, 56, of St. Marys was traveling south. Fantechi attempted to turn left into Delullo’s Market when he pulled into the path of Trenn, causing Trenn to hit the Fantechi vehicle. Only minor injury was reported for Tenn. No charges were reportedly filed.

A Smethport teen was severely injured following a Sunday afternoon crash along Route 770, just west of Route 646 in Keating Township. Kane based state police state that Sarah Gee was traveling west of 770 when her 96 Saturn hit an ice patch, sending the car across the roadway and into a tree. It then flipped, landing on the passenger’s side. Gee was flown to Hamot Medical Center for treatment.

A Coudersport woman was moderately injured as a result of an accident on Route 872 Saturday, 1 mile south of Route 6 in Eulalia Township. Cheryl Ianson was traveling south in an 88 Dodge Ram when she lost control on the ice covered roadway, sending her vehicle off the roadway before overturning. Ianson and a 13 year old passenger were both treated at Charles Cole for unknown injuries. Coudersport based state police continue their investigation.

Theft from a Kersey residence is under investigation by Ridgway state police after a known person took 2 blank checks from Rose Gabor.

A Johnsonburg woman told troopers from Ridgway that some time Saturday someone broker her vehicles driver’s side mirror. The incident occurred as Julie Padasak’s vehicle was parked at the East Branch River Restaurant in Jones Township.

The McFarland House in Wilcox was the victim on a reported theft as someone left without paying for their room on the 11th. The investigation continues.

Seven incidences of bad check writing, all by known persons, occurred at Delullo’s Market in Kersey between July and late October of 2005. Ridgway based state police investigated.

And DUI by a Johnsonburg resident was investigated by state police from Kane Thursday. Eric Nelson, 25, was stopped along Route 321 when troopers found the accused to be DUI. Charges are pending.

The residence of a James City man was forcibly entered by an unknown person over the weekend. Those who entered then removed approximately $800.00 in cash. Those with information are asked to contact state police in Ridgway.

Harassment on Saturday in Weedville by an unknown person is under investigation after someone yelled at Sherry Coffey, David Nellis and Jacob Moser, all Weedville residents.

And harassment January 4th at a Weedville business left a St. Marys man charged after Howard Mazzaferro, 41, shoved Dawn Wendel, 38, of force into a machine at the business. Charges were filed.

Criminal mischief on Thursday is under investigation after someone destroyed a 16 foot blue spruce on property owned by Frank Lyautey of Shinglehouse. According to Coudersport based state police, the tree trunk was cut ¾ of the way using a hand saw. Those with information are asked to contact state police.

Underage consumption by a female in Roulette was responded to by Coudersport based state police Wednesday evening. Upon their arrival it was discovered the juvenile was in possession of 2 cans of beer. The accused has been cited.

And the scattering of rubbish between the 2nd and the 9th is under investigation after someone dumped numerous items along Waldy Run Road in Shippen Township. Those with information are asked to contact state police.

A financial aid session will be held January 25th at the Oswayo Valley High School in the library beginning at 6:00pm. Representatives from Northwest Savings Bank and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will be on hand. For more information contact the high school guidance office.

A theft, fraud and forgery incident between December 10th and January 9th left a Rochester resident in trouble with Coudersport PSP. State police tell WQRM Sean Piccarrreto, 29, reportedly stole a book of checks belonging to Thomas Wheeler of Harrision Valley, using several of those checks at Kibbe’s Busymart. Piccarreto is currently being held in the Potter County jail on $20,000 straight bail.

A Remington Shotgun was found in the vicinity of Turtlepoint by state police in Coudersport. Those with further information should contact state police.

Bradford Nugas was the victim of a reported theft which occurred between December 26th and January 11th as someone removed 4 tank gas regulators and 100 pounds of propane.

DUI and a suspended license left a Kane man in trouble with troopers there on Tuesday. Scott Banner, 48, was stopped by troopers after a call was received about an erratic driver along Route 219. Banner was later stopped by troopers at the intersection of Routes 219 and 6 in Hamlin Township.

Burglary and DUI on Tuesday left a Lewis Run resident in trouble after Kane based state police investigated an incident of burglary at the home of David Baker of Lewis Run. Patrick Dowell forced his way into the Baker home Tuesday evening, before attempting to collect $1,600.00 owed to him. Several threats were made by Dowell before the victim was able to contact state police.

Criminal mischief in Jay Township, Elk County on Sunday left the windshield of a vehicle owned by Lisa Nesbitt of Byrnedale with damage after a known person spun their vehicle’s tires near the victim’s vehicle. Ridgway based state police investigated.

Harassment by a known person on Sunday toward Daniel Chamberlin on his cell phone was investigated by state police in Ridgway. No further details are available.

Jennette Moon of Genesee is being charged after Coudersport based state police conducted an investigation into bad check writing at State Line One Stop in Genesee on February 22, 2005.

And a known person is being investigated after someone removed an inspection sticker from a vehicle owned by St. Marys Equipment. No further details are available at this time, pending the completion of the investigation by state police in Ridgway.

An unnamed man has purchased the former Jack and Jill Shop in Bradford according to Penn Laurel Realty officials. The unnamed individual is from out of town and reportedly purchased the building for nearly $65,000.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a Port Allegany woman was not injured in an accident yesterday morning. Kane based state police tell us Suzanne Evens, 44, was southbound on Route 155, just south of Route 446 in Eldred Township when she fell asleep at the wheel, sending her 2001 Pontiac Sedan off the roadway and into several trees. Evens was cited for careless driving.

A two vehicle crash along Route 321, 5 miles north of Route 6 in Wetmore Township occurred at Noon yesterday. State police state that Erin Bowen and Nathan Mealy were both traveling south on Route 321 when Mealy attempted to turn left. At that time, Bowen attempted to pass Mealy’s vehicle, only to impact the left front fender. Bowen attempted to regain control of her 96 GMC Jimmy, only to overcompensate, sending her SUV across the center line. The vehicle then slid counter clockwise and rolled. Bowen was wearing her seatbelt and received only minor injuries. Mealy was also wearing a seatbelt and received no injuries.

Criminal mischief along Route 346, just over 2 miles west of Route 446 in Eldred Township occurred Monday or Tuesday as someone cut a gate handle to an electric fence on property owned by Joanna Calkins of Eldred. Those involved then threw the handle into the field and fled. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact state police.

And Coudersport based state police responded to an accident involving an Austin resident on Monday along Cowley Hill Road. Sharon Geci, 59, was operating a 2000 Ford Explorer in an easterly direction while attempting to negotiate a left hand curve in the roadway. Her vehicle then began to fishtail and slide across both lanes of travel when it hit the guiderail on the southern berm. The vehicle then continued to rotate clockwise and strike the guiderail again before rolling and coming to rest in a ditch. Geci received only minor injuries. A 5 year old passenger also received minor injuries. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts.

A Warren woman was sentenced to life behind bars following a trial over the death of her 2 and 8 year old daughters in May. Amy Nicole Niver, 29, was sentenced Monday on two counts of second degree murder in connection with a fire that claimed the liver of her kids May 22nd. A first degree murder charge would have given her the death penalty.

And a public hearing on the development of the former Castle Restaurant site in Allegany is set for 7:00pm at the Senior Center on January 31st. Proposed is a setting of retail shops, restaurants and office space. Last month saw developers toss out the idea of an apartment complex.

Harassment charges were filed against an Emporium resident after kicking the victim. Emporium troopers tell WQRM Ernest Reuthers, 52 reportedly kicked Theresa Reuthers, 45, in the ankle last evening. No further details are available.

Kane troopers cited a Kane resident in connection with the scattering of rubbish following their investigation earlier this month. Jeffery Eastman, 24, was charged in connection with the incident on Jo Jo Road in Wetmore Township.

And state police from Coudersport are investigating an incident of cruelty to animals after someone killed a puppy belonging to Richard Nelson Jr. of Coudersport. According to troopers, the dog was possibly shot after being hit be an unknown vehicle. Those having further details are asked to contact state police.

Following six years of service to the Bradford School District, Robert Tingley gave the Bradford School board his resignation during the board’s meeting Monday, citing personal matters for his reason to depart. Tingley was appointed president in 2001.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…an accident yesterday morning left a Smethport resident with moderate injuries following a 6:25am incident along Route 46, south of North Creek road in Shippen Township. Troopers from Emporium responded after Carrie Kisko, 51, had crashed. Kisko told troopers she was driving south on a 2002 Jeep Liberty when she lost control on the snow covered roadway, sliding across both lanes of traffic, rotating clockwise and striking the guiderails.

A one vehicle accident Saturday afternoon along Grant Road in Ridgway Township left a 17 year old driver with minor injuries. While attempting to round a curve, the 93 Ford Explorer being driven spun counter-clockwise, clockwise and then sideways before leaving the east side of the roadway, descending an embankment and striking a utility pole. The SUV then rolled onto its roof. The driver and 2 juvenile passengers were all wearing seatbelts, with the 2 passengers also receiving minor injuries.

A one vehicle accident involving a Genesee resident occurred Saturday afternoon along Route 49, west of Cobb Hill Road. State police from Coudersport tell WQRM Elizabeth Paisley, 18, was traveling west when she had slowed to pass a stopped vehicle along the north berm. Paisley’s 96 Ford Explorer slid off the north berm before rolling and coming to rest on the driver’s side. Paisley escaped injury.

Two Coudersport residents were not injured after an accident Saturday evening along Route 449, south of Genesee. State police from Coudersport tell us Adam Knapp was driving a 99 Pontiac Grand AM northbound when he attempted to negotiate a curve, only to slide off the roadway, strike a guiderail and disable the car. Knapp was wearing a seatbelt, while his passenger, Steven Bernard, was not.

DUI by a Kersey resident left 42 year old Gordon Gent charged after Ridgway based state police stopped the accused along Route 948, Fox Township Saturday morning. Gent was stopped during a weekend checkpoint.

DUI left a Genesee resident in trouble with state police in Coudersport after she was stopped at the intersection of Routes 449 and 244 in Genesee Township. State police tell us Jackie Bracey, 49, was stopped after violating a traffic law around 1:40am. Charges are pending.

DUI by a Scotland, Pa resident Sunday morning left David McKenrick arrested after he was found parked along Route 120 in Grove Township by state police from Emporium.

The scattering of rubbish along Jo Jo Road in Wetmore Township recently is under investigation by state police from Kane. Three boxes of trash, in addition to animal carcasses were disposed of. Those with further details are asked to contact state police.

Theft from a Whitehead Road seasonal residence between December 10th and this past Saturday occurred in Bingham township, Potter County. Coudersport based state police state that during the time mentioned, someone took a 20 pound propane tank and regulator from a camp owned by Gill Contant of Coudersport. The items are valued at $70.00. Those with information are asked to contact state police.

Theft from a Westfield man’s wood pile occurred this past Wednesday or Thursday. Coudersport based state police state that incident occurred on property owned by Joseph DeAngelis Jr of Westfield.

Theft from a Genseee woman’s purse while it was at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital occured Wednesday as someone removed $150.00. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact state police.

Ridgway based state police tell WQRM our listeners are urged to use common sense when purchasing items over the internet. They recently investigated an incident where James Smith of Ridgway attempted to purchase snowmobile from someone in London, England. Smith reportedly sent the money but received no response as to the whereabouts of the snowmobile.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet on area streets and highways according to our checks with state police. There were no related incidences to report either. Roads may be snow covered and slippery in spots. Caution is advised.

Emporium based state police responded to a one vehicle accident on Wednesday, along Route 120, 3 miles east of Emporium Borough. Jeannie Hoffower, 45, of Emporium was traveling west when she lost control of her 2000 Dodge Neon, sending it off the north side of Route 120 before it rolled. Both Hoffower and her passenger, Kim Guisto of Emporium were taken to Elk Regional for their injuries. Hoffower was wearing a seatbelt, Guisto was not.

Approximately $25,000 in damage was done to a 2 story home occupied by David James of Ridgway on Thursday. State police there tell WQRM around 3:45pm the fire was responded to by the Ridgway Fire Department. Troopers tell us the 16 by 40 foot structure fire was found to be caused by an electrical malfunction. James was taken to elk Regional for effects of the fire.

A home in Johnsonburg was destroyed by fire Thursday morning. According to Ridgway based state police, the fire at the Jana Miller and Robert Reeves home on Penn Street is still under investigation. No one was home at the time of the blaze.

False imprisonment by a known person on Thursday occurred and is being investigated by state police in Ridgway. Monica Lenhart of Weedville told troopers someone forced her into their vehicle before taking her to her residence and releasing her.

An unknown female was the driver of a get-away car transporting two unknown males who took approximately $2,000 in merchandise from the Wal-Mart in St. Marys Wednesday evening. The investigation continues.

Ridgway based state police have in their possession a Road Master Mountain Climber mountain bike. To claim, phone the barracks.

Theft from property owned by G&W Railroad Company occurred between Monday and Thursday of this week as someone took 5,000 feet of copper wire from a location the railroad. Those with information should contact state police.

St. Boniface Church in Kersey was the victim of a theft as someone took a nativity figure, disposing it along Garr Road.

Criminal mischief on the 30th or 31st of last month occurred as someone hit mailboxes belonging to Gardeau Road residents John Miller and James McLeod Jr.

After being established some 97 years ago, the Olean Moose Club had its license pulled Tuesday by New York state after serving alcohol to non-members and allowing gambling on their property. The club will remain closed until Wednesday, the 18th.

The investigation into an early morning fire yesterday in Crosby continues. State police from Kane tell WQRM a barn owned by Kenneth Doutt was destroyed. There were no human injuries, however a cow and several chicken were lost in the blaze, which brought out 5 fire companies, with 2 on standby.

Criminal mischief on Tuesday or Wednesday is still under investigation. Someone scratched a vehicle owned by James Hart of Wilcox as it was parked at the intersection of Old Kane Road and Horner Road in Wilcox. Ridgway based state police are investigating.

Burglary between November 28th and Christmas Day in Millstone Township was investigated by state police from Ridgway after someone entered the residence of James Ellenburger of Mt. Pleasant. Once inside those involved damaged several items and then departed.

Theft from DCNR in Emporium occurred as someone damaged the flood light laminating the flagpole at the Forestry office. The flag was also removed.

A hit and run on November 29th remains under investigation after someone driving a black 2003 Chevrolet truck struck a sluice pipe on property owned by Kathryn Cook of Shinglehouse. Damage is estimated at $400.00.

Bad check writing at State Line One Stop in Genesee occurred in mid-February of last year. State police from Coudersport tell WQRM they are investigating the incident where a check was written for $20.00.

Former Shinglehouse resident William Stavisky, currently the Superintendent of the Greater Latrobe School District, has been named Superintendent of the year in Pennsylvania. Stavisky graduated from Oswayo Valley High School in 1966 and has been Superindendet of school in Latrobe since 1992.

Representative Martin Causer or one of his representatives will hold constituent hours today from 9:00 to 10:00am at the Emporium Borough office, he’ll also be at the Port Allegany Borough office from 10:30 to 11:30.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet on area streets and highways according to our checks with state police in Kane, Ridgway, Coudersport and Emporium. There were no related incidences to report either.

A DUI related crash occurred Monday along Route 44, just south of old Route 49 in Eulalia Township. Heidi Honey, 27, of Coudersport was attempting to negotiate a curve when she lost control of her 92 Dodge Daytona. Honey was found to be DUI and charges were filed.

And burglary on the 2nd or 3rd in Weedville, Jay township was is being investigated by state police in Ridgway after someone pried open a metal door at Gap Enterprises on Redwood Avenue. Several items were removed by those involved. Those with information should contact state police.

One department of the McKean County government will see an increase in hours after a request by Judge Cleland. Cleland requested that the probation department’s hours be increased with an additional cost to the county of $20,595. There were various reasons for the requested increase. Among those being contract issues with CYS.

In Smethport Borough Council news…Greg Rounsville was elected President during the council’s re-organization meeting Tuesday. The oath was also taken by newcomers Ed Althouse, Patty Witchen, Paul Raymond and Josh Costa.

In Port Allegany Borough Council news, the council heard from S. W. Smith Library board of trustees president Marge Healy that the library has outgrown its current location on church Street. Healy is looking into funding for the construction of a new library, with a possible location yet to be set in stone.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a crash involving 2 Bradford residents occurred yesterday on Route 155, just south of Rock Run Road, Liberty Township. David Lipps, 22, was operating a 2002 Ford Mustang GT. While attempting to pass another vehicle the Lipps car spun out of control, spinning off the roadway and striking a utility pole. Casey Abbott, 20, was taken to Bradford Regional for treatment of minor injuries. Lipps was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

Burglary at the Valley Farm Market in Weedville yesterday morning by 3 males in their late teens to early 20s occurred around 2:38, according to Ridgway based state police. 2 Pepsi machines along with one Coke machine were entered with the aide of a pry bar. No money was removed from the machines, although $689.00 in damages occurred. About $300.00 in damages was caused to the store also, as those involved broke the store’s front door glass. Once inside an alarm sounded and those involved fled. According to Ridgway PSP, nothing was removed from the store. Those involved reportedly fled in what is described as a red colored vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Blazer. Those with information should contact state police in Ridgway.

Two Genesee Township teens were cited after using foul language and hand gestures in the presence of another teen yesterday. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM the victim was also struck in the eye and forehead by the actors.

Public drunkenness on News Years day, shortly before 1:00am in Jones Township occurred and was investigated by state police from Ridgway after a known 33 year old St. Marys resident was found by troopers walking along Route 219 near Joy Gardens Road just before 2:00am. A public drunkenness charge is pending.

Criminal mischief on the 1st at 5:00pm at the Willow Bay Boat Launch occurred and was investigated by state police from Kane. Wesley Pire of Bradford told troopers that some damaged a screen at one of the cabins, in addition to stuffing one of the commodes with tissue.

Carl Anderson of Brockport was the victim of a reported criminal mischief incident on New Years Eve in Elbon, Horton Township. Ridgway based state police are charging 3 male juveniles from Brockport for their involvement in the incident when they sprayed mustard and broke several eggs on Anderson’s car in addition to bending the victim’s vanity license plate.

A Wilcox resident was the victim of a reported act of criminal mischief which occurred at the St. Marys Wal-mart on the 29th. According to troopers, Alan Stravena was in the store when someone broke the antenna on his vehicle. No further details are available.

Criminal charges for simple assault at the McKean County Prison are being filed against a warren resident after he punched Terry Isadore of Smethport. Darryl Sherlock and Isadore are both serving time at the prison.

Harassment against a known 3 year old is being investigated by state police from Kane. Reports state that James Baker, 19, of Smethport is being investigated for putting hot sauce in his in the child’s mouth in an attempt to quiet the child. Baker has been charged with harassment.

Fire at a Portville resident’s home yesterday occurred and was responded to by firefighters around 1:25pm. Fire broke out in a chimney at the home of Andrew Boser of Promiseland Road Acres. The flames caught the nearby garage on fire before Boser was able to knock the flames down with snow. 22 men and several trucks from Westons Mills were on scene for nearly an hour.

The Seneca Building, on Main Street in Bradford, has been donated to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Home to Seneca Eye, among others, the tenants are being offered the chance to stay or move. The donation is worth $1.2 million and was given in memory of Dr. Paul Keverline, who died in 2002 and was a partner in Seneca Eye Surgeons with Dr. Robert Weiss.

And the meeting of the Seneca Highlands Snowmobile Club has been moved for this evening. The meeting will be held at 7:30pm at the Smethport Senior Center.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…a Kane resident escaped injury after a one vehicle accident on Sunday in Hamilton Township. Adrienne Lee, 18, was negotiating a curve on Route 6, near Wildcat Road when her 92 Pontiac Bonneville traveled off the roadway, struck the guiderails and became disabled. Lee was cited by Kane troopers for failure to drive at a safe speed.

Kane based state police tell WQRM a Lowber resident received minor injuries after an accident on Route 321, Wetmore Township on Saturday. Angela Allegretto, 22, was operating a 96 GMC Jimmy. While attempting to turn left off Route 321, she lsot control. Attempting to regain control, Allegretto over-steered, sending her vehicle off the east side of the roadway where it rolled and became disabled. Allegretto and her 3 juvenile passengers were taken to Kane Community Hospital for evaluation. Only Allegretto was injured. Kane troopers cited the driver for failure to wear a seatbelt and drive at a safe speed.

A 3 vehicle accident the morning of the 31st on Route 255 left all 3 operators involved uninjured. Ridgway based state police state that Steven Fledderman, 21, of St. Marys lost control of his 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 on the snow covered roadway while traveling north. His truck began spinning when it crossed the center line, striking a 1995 Pontiac Grand AM driven by 50 year old Jean Welton of St. Marys. Debris from this collision then struck a 99 Ford Tauraus driven behind the Welton vehicle by Debra Emmert of Kersey. Fledderman’s truck struck the west berm before he was able to regain control. Fledderman was cited by Ridgway troopers for not driving at a safe speed. A passenger in the Fledderman vehicle, 18 year old Andrew Weis, was not injured. The other drivers escaped injury.

And DUI by a Kane resident on December 30th got 58 year old Dennis Rockwell stopped by Kane troopers along Poplar Street in Kane. Kane PSP observed the accused turning without signaling, when the stop was conducted. Rocwell was taken to Kane community Hospital for a BAC. Charges for Dui and summary traffic violations have been filed.

A charge for public drunkenness on Sunday in Jones Township has been filed against a 33 year old St. Marys resident by Ridgway PSP after the accused was seen walking along Route 219 just before 1:00am.

Criminal mischief by unknown persons between December 24th and the 30th caused $500.00 in damage to property owned by Edward Lyons. Kane troopers continue their investigation where someone drove through Lyons’ property on Sweitzer Drive on two separate occasions. Those having information are asked to contact state police.

Harassment by a known person toward another known person occurred between December 23rd and the 29th. Kane troopers are investigating an incident in Keating Township where the person or person being investigated called the victim twice. No further details are available at this time.

Emporium troopers cited Dennis and Nora Cressley of Emporium with harassment after an incident Saturday at their residence in Shippen Township. According to the report given the two were involved in an argument when the altercation turned physical. The couple were taken into custody with bail set at $1,000 for the wife and $2,5000 for the husband.

Unknown persons reportedly contact a Coudersport resident on the 30th by phone. Troopers from the Denton Hill barracks state that someone called Joseph Dubots and verbally threatened him and his property. Those with further information are asked to contact state police in Coudersport.

An incident at Kane Community Hospital on Friday remains under investigation by state police there after two known persons were involved in a scuffle where one person was pushed.

Burglary at the Roulette Fish and Game Club on Seymour Drive in Roulette Township occurred on December 29th or 30th as someone used a blunt object to gain access to the club. Once inside, doors and a cash register were entered. Those having information about this incident should contact state police in Coudersport.

Theft from the Gold General Store in Genesee between the 26th and the 29th is under investigation after someone took a blue and red neon open sign from the store on Route 49. Coudersport based state police are investigating.
