On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet on area streets and highways according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.
Simple assault on Wednesday remains under investigation by Ridgway based state police. A report issued states that Clint Medred of Ford City and Melissa Jack of Leechburg were involved in a verbal argument, which turned physical. Medred suffered a wound to the back after being struck with a fire place poker, while Jack reportedly fled before police arrived.
And theft between Saturday and Wednesday remains under investigation after someone removed an electric cart from the Laurel Mill Golf Course in Ridgway Township. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers in Ridgway.
Representative Martin Causer has announced that during the Senior Expo on Friday, August 5th, his Bradford and Coudersport offices will be closed. The expo is being help from 9:00 to 2:00 at the UPB Sports and Fitness Building gymnasium in Bradford. His district offices will reopen, with regular hours, on Monday, August 8th.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a crash yesterday afternoon, at the intersection of Route 6 and Campbelltown Road in Hamlin Township was responded to by Kane based state police. They tell WQRM Jodie Holmberg, 31, of Smethport was traveling west along Route 6 in a 2002 Pontiac Aztek. Stopped at the intersection, Holmberg was preparing to make a left turn, while Gloria Heffner, 60, of Cyclone was traveling east along Route 6. The Heffner vehicle left its lane of travel, striking the Holmberg vehicle along the front driver’s side. The heffner vehicle then traveled back across the eastbound lane, striking a telephone pole. Heffner was transported to Kane Community Hospital, before being life flighted to Hamot Medical Center with unknown injuries. Holmberg escaped with no injuries.
Suicide yesterday morning in Lafayette Township was investigated by Kane based state police. They tell us they arrived at the residence of Richard Peterson of Bradford to find the victim had died as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Theft from a motor vehicle between Tuesday and Wednesday was investigated by Emporium troopers who tell us Matthew Reed reported that someone took 120 CDs and a nylon CD case, valued at $1,610.00 from his truck, while it was located along Greenwood Street in the borough.
Criminal mischief between Monday and Tuesday in Hebron Township remains under investigation by Coudersport authorities. Dale William, 34, of Coudersport reported that someone had possibly embedded 6 drywall screws into the tires of his 2003 dodge pickup. Anyone with information pertaining to this incident are asked to contact troopers.
And criminal mischief in the village of Force, Elk County between Tuesday and yesterday remains under investigation by Ridgway based state police. WQRM has been told that someone arrived at the Deborah Oldham residence before throwing several eggs at her residence. Anyone with information is asked to contact Elk County Crimestoppers or Ridgway based state police.
The future of the old Angell’s Entertainment facility is still up in the air. An application submitted by Roger Feura was turned down by the City of Bradford and the Historical Review Board. Feura wants to tear down the building and put in a parking lot for customers of his Bradford Pharmacy.
The Community Blood Bank in Bradford is appealing to residents in the WQRM listening area to donate blood. With the supply below normal since Memorial Day, donors are urged to donate at the CBB at 24 Davis Street in Bradford. Hours are 3:30 to 7:30pm Thursday and Saturday from 9:00 to 1:00. Appointments are not necessary.
And the McKean County Historical Society will host a Dutch relative of the namesake to Smethport this Friday, beginning at 2:00pm at the Old Jail Lecture Hall. The public is invited and there is no charge for the program.

On the traffic and accident scene throughout the WQRM listening area…Chad Setzer, 29, of Roulette was the operator of an 88 Chevrolet Celebrity traveling along Fishing Creek road yesterday at 3:00pm. Setzer, according to Coudersport troopers, was traveling south, while a 2001 Dodge Ram was traveling along Route 6, and being operated by Brian Merry, 31, of Rixford. Setzer pulled into the path of Merry, at which time his vehicle impacted the Merry vehicle at the left front fender, spinning clockwise. The Setzer vehicle then came to rest 27 feet from the point of impact along Route 6. Setzer and a passenger, 23 year old Pamela Sue Hammond, of Roulette, were both taken to Charles Cole for treatment.
A one vehicle accident along Route 66, with in Russell City, Highland Township, elk County occurred last evening short
ly before 6:00pm as Justin Dunkin, 18, of Knox Dale was traveling north in a 98 Dodge Avenger. At this time, the front axle failed, causing the front tire to turn left, at which time Dunkin lost control. The Avenger then left the roadway, struck a speed limit sign and then came to rest. Dunkin and a passenger, 50 year old Barbara Beck of Reynoldsville, escaped unharmed.Criminal mischief yesterday in Jones township was investigated by Ridgway troopers, who tell WQRM Debra Zuchowski was the victim of a reported incident where juveniles entered her boat and caused damage to a tarp and other items.
And reckless endangerment yesterday sent 41 year old Matthew Pearce of Duke Center to the McKean County jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. Kane troopers tell us Pearce phoned his wife, while in the residence, telling her he was going to shoot her. At this time, he also shot at the TV.
Naomi Goff, 34, of Smethport was arrested after Kane based state police learned that she was wanted by West Virginia authorities in connection with concealment of a child. Goff was taken into custody, arraigned and taken to the county jail in lieu of $10,000 straight bail, pending extradition. The child in question was turned over to the father.
Criminal mischief at Keller Oil in St. Marys was investigated by Ridgway troopers recently after someone reproted that an unknown person damaged 2 glass windows at the business along Route 255. Damage is estimated at $800.00.
Representative Martin Causer will offer free information on various state programs during the Potter County Fair, Monday August 1st through Friday, the 5th. A table will be staffed from 4:00 to 9:00pm each day.
And Smethport Band Boosters will meet Thursday at 7:00pm in the High School band room. Purpose of the meeting is to discuss the upcoming year’s activities.

On the traffic and accident scene over night and yesterday…all was quiet, according to our checks with state police barracks in our listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.
State police barracks in Kane and Ridgway will be patrolling roadways in McKean and Elk Counties in the near future, in an attempt to identify and arrest impaired drivers. The effort is an undertaking by authorities to cut back on the number of DUI crashes and violations.
And Coudersport based state police tell WQRM burglary between June 6th and the 9th along Fesseden Road in Roulette remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police. A release issued states that someone entered the home of Danielle Parrish, removing a generator valued at approximately $500.00. Those having information pertaining to this incident are asked to contact Coudersport based state police.
A Minard Run Road resident in Bradford was killed by a lighting strike in the early hours of Monday. Gerald Passley, 49, was reportedly hit around midnight as he was taking care of his horses. Mike Cahill, McKean County Coroner, pronounced Passley dead just after 1:00am at BRMC.
And Port Allegany High School once again has an Assistant Principal. Sharon Daniels, a Port Allegany resident and PAHS alumna, was hired during Monday’s evening meeting of the Port Allegany School Board. Several other appointments were also made by the board.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…David Georgia, 20, of Shinglehouse was involved in an accident along SR4017, .2 mile south of Oswayo Street in Sharon Township in his 99 Pontiac Grand Am when he swerved to miss a deer. The car then traveled off the east berm, where it struck a tree and became disabled. Georgia was wearing his seatbelt and received no injuries.
DUI was the cause of an accident investigated by Kane PSP, who tell WQRM Thomas Austin, 312, of Shinglehouse was traveling north along Route 44 when he lost control of the vehicle he was operating. The vehicle then crossed Route 44, slid sideways, impacted the hillside, spun 180 degrees and struck the hill again. The Austin vehicle then traveled across both lanes of traffic and impacted the guiderail before eventually coming to rest. Austin was taken to Charles Cole for treatment of his moderate injuries.
Graybill’s Marina along Route 321 was the victim of a reported retail theft yesterday, according to Kane troopers who are investigating. An unknown person or person in a blue SUV pumped $21.00 in gasoline before departing without paying. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers.
A missing 62 year old woman from Jay Township, Elk County was found in good health after a search was initiated Saturday. Ridgway based state police state that the woman was reported missing after her husband awoke and was unable to find her.
David Nelson, 45, of Johnsonburg told Ridgway troopers a known 37 year old male entered his property before the individual started screaming and yelling obscenities at Nelson. Nelson attempted to talk with the individual, at which time the suspect became combative, striking Nelson in the face 3 times. Criminal charges are pending.
Burglary, which occurred between Friday and Sunday, remains under investigation by state police in Ridgway, who tell WQRM someone removed a window mounted air conditioner from a window at the residence of Edward Anderson in Kersey. The suspect reportedly then fled by exiting through the back door.
And Kane based state police are asking for your help in locating escapee Mark Mullins. Mullins is described as a white, 24 year old male, 5’9", weighing 150 pounds. Mullins also has blonde hair and brown eyes. He was to report back to the County Jail after work through the work release program. Mullins may be headed for the Emporium area or Florida. Anyone with information about his where about is asked to call 778-5555.
A Sunday brush fire at the home of Gary Hults of Lower Grimes District in Port Allegany was the cause of the Hults home being destroyed. Deputy Chief Jim Rankin said the structure was fully engulfed when the first trucks arrived at about 3:00pm. Five trucks, including 30 firefighters, from Smethport and Port Allegany were on the scene until about 5:10pm.
Coudersport based state police are looking for the person who tied a tow rope to a Pepsi machine at Connie’s Market in Ulysses before dragging the machine along Route 49 and then along Burt Road. Anyone with information about this act of criminal mischief is asked to contact Coudersport based state police.
A hit and run Thursday remains under investigation by Coudersport authorities after someone, possibly in a yellow vehicle, struck a vehicle owned by Robert Jones of Genesee as the Jones vehicle was parked along the north berm of Genesee Street. Debris was found at the scene to indicate that damage was done to the right front turn signal. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers in Coudersport.
Sherry Kalansnik, a Ulysses resident, told Coudersport based state police that some time between Thursday and Friday someone arrived at her residence, smashed her mailbox and then left by unknown means. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coudersport barracks.
A crash on Wednesday of last week left Walter Cheplic, 54, of Austin with minor injuries after he swerved to miss a deer after cresting a hill in Homer Township. The Chepnic truck then struck an embankment. Chepnic was taken to Charles Cole for treatment of his minor injuries.
Coudersport based state police have charged Lawrence Kelley, 18, of Roulette with harassment after an incident at the swimming pond in Roulette involving a known 17 year old male.
And theft between June 29th and July 15th remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police after someone at the Fox Run club reportedly tampered with a meter owned by Tri-County Rural Electric. The amount of the theft is unknown at this time. Anyone with information about this theft should contact troopers in Coudersport at 274-8690.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a collision yesterday morning along the Toby Road in Fox Township was responded to by Ridgway based state police, who tell WQRM Matthew Carlson, 19, of Brockport was operating a 2004 Honda Motorcycle when he hit a deer which had entered the roadway. Carlson was wearing a helmet and received only minor injuries.
And a Kane resident was the victim of a reported theft sometime between June 29th and July 6th. Kane based state police tell WQRM someone took Norman Nelson’s vehicle, drove it 1 mile from his home and vandalized it before leaving. According to the report issued, all the windows were smashed, causing several hundred dollars in damages. Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact Kane based state police.
According to reports, an unnamed individual was involved in an accident yesterday evening around 7:00pm at the water hole in the Coleman Mills area. No details are currently available as to the person’s identity, age, or hometown. The man involved was reportedly flown to an Altoona hospital.
And alleged murderer Tyrone Malone, 29, of Olean will have his case heard by a grand jury. A meeting scheduled for 11:00am Thursday was waved by the accused. Malone is accused of killing David Billingslea Jr during an altercation in the early morning hours of July 13th near the Catholic Charities building in Olean.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an accident involving 2 vehicles along Lower Grimes, near Port Allegany, occurred yesterday afternoon. At approximately 4:45pm Pennsylvania State Police from Kane tell us Nathaniel Howard, 23, of Port Allegany was pulling from a driveway, at which time he also pulled into the path of a 93 Pontiac driven by Tenille Daugherty, also a Port Allegany resident. Both vehicles sustained major damage and both drivers were transported to Charles Cole for treatment of their minor injuries.
Burglary this morning in Force, Elk County remains under investigation by troopers in Ridgway. Someone entered the Cheryl Shimmel residence. Nothing was reportedly taken. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers at 776-6136.
WPSX-TV and WPSU-FM, both part is Penn State Public Broadcasting, will consolidate names. Beginning with the fall season, WPSU-FM will air on 91.5 in central PA, along with 100.9 in Bradford.
The Potter County Education Council will be opening an center in Port Allegany effective September 6th. For more information, phone the Galeton or Coudersport office.
And Ex-Portville Central teacher James Molyneaux was convicted on all counts of related sexual abuse Tuesday. Molyneaux, 62, faces up to 50 years in prison for 2 counts of sodomy, with the possibility of an additional 7 years for a second-degree sexual abuse conviction. The victims were a 16 and a 21 year old.

Bad check wiring by Angelica Ramirez, 28, of Austin was investigated by Coudersport based state police recently after a check was written out to Pop Top Distributor in Austin.
A 1-vehicle crash Monday in Fox Township was responded to by Ridgway troopers who tell us Monica Dragich, 19, of Kersey was traveling south along Hogback Road when she lost control of her Ford Explorer, sending it into a tree after it exited the roadway. Dragich and a passenger, Angela Dragich, also a Kersey resident, were both taken by ambulance to Elk Regional for treatment.
Criminal mischief Saturday remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police, who tell WQRM someone used a baseball bat or a similar object to smash mailboxes owned by 3 Dingham Run Road residents and 2 residents along Lehigh Drive in Coudersport. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers.
And Coudersport based state police report that they are investigating an incident of criminal mischief after someone shot a sliding glass panel at the home of Harry Long, a Main Street Austin resident. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact troopers.
Bradford City’s Water Authority is making plans to hand over land situated at the intersection of West Washington Street and Dorothy Lane. The University of Pittsburgh, Bradford Campus will buy the land, measuring 95 feet by 60 feet, and appraised at $1,750. According to reports, the University would like to erect a sign at that location, similar to one greeting visitors from another entrance along West Washington Street.
The offices of the Cameron Elk McKean Mental Health Retardation have officially relocated to the fourth floor of the MedExpress Building in Ridgway. The move was initiated after McKean County chose to end its affiliation with the organization.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…we’re told by all police barracks in the listening area that all was quiet on area streets and highways overnight and yesterday. There were no related incidences to report either.
Burglary yesterday from a front porch freezer on property owned by Patricia Marshall of Genesee remains under investigation by troopers in Coudersport. Troopers tell us an undetermined amount of food was removed before 4:30pm.
A known 16 year old driver will be charged in connection with eluding police after an incident last evening in Byrnedale, near the post office. Ridgway based state police tell WQRM the juvenile was traveling at a high rate of speed, with 3 juvenile passengers when a pursuit began. The chase lasted for 16 miles, at which time the driver stopped the vehicle along Old Bliss Run Road. Charges will be filed with Elk County Juvenile probation.
Rebecca Sena of Roulette told Coudersport troopers recently that someone stole a Mongoose brand bicycle from her front yard between Sunday and yesterday. The investigation continues and anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact troopers.
A 1-vehicle accident occurred along Route 6 Sunday, according to Coudersport based state police who responded. Jason Andring, 21, of Marienville was traveling west when his 2005 Yamaha R6 bike hit a deer. Andring sustained minor injuries as a result.
3 person told Coudersport based state police that someone damaged their mailboxes between Saturday and Sunday in Coudersport. Mailboxes damaged by an unknown object were owned by Sandra Whitman, John Braten and Robert Renziehausen Jr. All residents live in the Woodland Heights area.
Disorderly conduct Saturday left Brandon Tuttle, 21, of Westfield charged in connection with the incident involving 2 14 year old females, where he hit one victim with a glass bottle. The breaking glass subsequently hit the second victim.
Ridgway troopers tell us they investigated in incident at the Jay Township Sportsmen’s Club after someone threw rocks threw several windows at the facility.
A hit and run Sunday was investigated by Ridgway troopers, who tell us someone hit a 2003 Subaru owned by Daniel and Angela Walter of St. Marys.
And Unique Transporation of Jersey City, NJ was cited by Ridgway based state police for operating an over-weight vehicle yesterday.
The Kane American Legion was victimized between the 15th and yesterday morning as someone cut down and stole the American Flag on the American Legion burial plot at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Anyone with information pertaining to theft crime is asked to contact troopers in Kane.
Olean City Police tell us Tyrone Malone, 29, of Olean has been arrested and charged in the stabbing death of Kurtis Billingslea Jr. during the morning hours of July 13th. According to a spokesperson, no other arrests will likely be made in the case.
The mother of an infant who died in January of 2004 has been given a sentence of 48 days to 23 ½ months in jail, followed by probation and community service. The sentence was handed down for Arlene Avis Haines’ part in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Serena Powell, at the hands of the mother’s boyfriend. Clinton JamesWatson, Powell’s boyfriend at the time, was given a sentence of 12 ½ to 25 years.
And the Smethport Chamber will meet tomorrow morning at the Visitor’s Center at 8:00am.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…numerous accidents were investigated, according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area. A hit and run yesterday morning, between midnight and 7:00am occurred at the Redmond residence along Dill hill road in Ridgway Township, Elk County. Troopers there tell us someone traveling south exited the west side of the roadway striking tree branches along the way. The vehicle involved then struck a mailbox before fleeing in a southerly direction.
Charges were filed against Lery Transportation of Clifton, NJ after one of their trucks was seen transporting municipal waste in a truck not properly maintained.

gway was traveling south in a 96 Dodge Avenger. While attempting to negotiate a left curve, the unit left the roadway along the western side. The car then re-entered the southbound lane before crossing the northbound lane, leaving the roadway and striking an embankment and then a tree. Charges are pending for not driving at a safe speed.Burglary from the Fox Township Building over the weekend remains under investigation after someone entered the building between Saturday and yesterday. No further details area available.
We’re told a DUI related incident occurred yesterday morning along Route 555, east of Gray Hill Road. Merle Stewart, 57, of Benezette was traveling east when he said he swerved to miss an elk. Losing control of the 88 Suzuki Samurai being operated, Stewart then crossed both lanes of traffic where the Suzuki struck a ditch where the vehicle rolled and landed on the passenger’s side. Stewart was extricated and transported to Elk Regional, where he was found to be under the influence. Stewart was subsequently arrested for DUI.
A collision involving a 16 year old Austin resident occurred Saturday at the intersection of North Hollow Road, Long Hollow Road and Gross Hollow Road in Allegany Township. Coudersport based state police who investigated tell us the operator attempted to make a sharp right turn onto Gross Hollow Road while approaching the intersection. Skidding through the intersection, the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox being operated left the roadway, went over a small embankment and struck several small trees. The driver escaped unharmed.
Ridgway troopers tell us Mary Launer, 46, of Johnsonburg was traveling south along Locke’s Hill in Jones Township Friday evening, when she lost control of her 2002 Chrysler Concord on loose gravel. The car left the roadway and ended up in a ditch. Launer was not injured, while her passenger, Wanda Cooney, also a Johnsonburg resident, received minor injuries.
A 2 vehicle accident along Rocky Run Road in Jones Township was responded to by troopers from Ridgway Thursday. Brian rice, 19, of Bradford was traveling west in a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, while Leo Biel, 82, of Wilcox was traveling east. Both operator’s vehicle made head-on contact on a curve in the roadway. Rice received minor injuries, while his passenger Michael Wofel, along with Biel, both escaped unharmed.
And simple assault Friday in Emporium was investigated by troopers there. They tell WQRM 36 year old Jamie Causer of Emporium was arrested for simple assault after an altercation involving Sheila Causer and Randall Main, both Emporium residence. The accused was remanded to the Potter County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Police in Olean are searching for a man possibly involved in a murder there last week. Tyrone Malone is being searched for by authorities in connection with the incident, which occurred around midnight July 13th. Malone is said to be armed and dangerous.
And a representative of the Governor’s Veterans outreach Center will be at the Bradford Careerlink Wednesday, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Those veterans interested in meting with the representative should bring with them, their DD-214. Homebound veterans can also make arrangements for a home visit by phoning 1-800-352-0915.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet, according to our checks with state police in the listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.
The name of a stabbing victim in Olean has been released by police there. Reports state that the victim, 30 year old Kurtis David Billingslea, was stabbed during an argument in the parking lot next door to the Catholic Charities facility Wednesday morning. Anyone with information about this incident are asked to contact Olean Police.
Kane troopers tell us they have a bicycle, found by a Kane resident, at their barracks. To claim, phone the barracks at 778-5555.
Coudersport troopers investigated a reported harassment, which occurred Wednesday evening at the Easton residence in Genesee Township. The report issued states that Sean and Cathleen Easton became engaged in an altercation after the husband came home in an intoxicated state. Sean Easton, after arriving home, pushed his wife, in addition to pushing and choking a 17 year old female also at the residence. While the 17 year old attempted to leave, the accused threw rocks at her car, breaking the rear window and the windshield. The investigation continues and neither of the victims were injured.
Harassment between Janice and Joseph Pandullo of Kersey was investigated by troopers from the Ridgway barracks recently. In the end, Joseph Pandullo was charged by troopers for allegedly striking and shoving his wive.
A collision Tuesday in Highland Township left 35 year old Kevin Dinger with minor injuries after he was traveling along Route 66 south. Losing control of his 86 Chevy S-10, the truck left the roadway and rolled onto its roof. Charges are pending.
And Coudersport based state police tell us a PFA order was ignored after Christopher Dexter, 23, of Shinglehouse arrived at the home of Heather Coon, 21, also a Shinglehouse resident.
Ridgway based state police tell us a speed display will be placed along Route 255 in the village of Force after residence there complained of excessive speeders in that area. The device will be placed near St. Joseph’s Church. Motorists in that area can expect to see State Troopers monitoring the speed passing motorists.
As we mentioned earlier this week, the Rollerdrome in Bradford was purchased with the plan to demolition the facility and use the land for a strip mall plaza. We’re told this morning by the Derrick City Volunteer Fire Department that they responded to hat was determined to be an arson related fire at the structure yesterday morning. It was mentioned in today’s Bradford Era that the cause of the fire was kids firing bottle rockets.
A tour of the Railroad Room at the Old Jail Museum in Smethport is set for 2:00pm today. The tour will include a discussion on the history of the BR&P or B&O Railroad which traveled from Salamaca to Punxsutawney.
A meeting for interested Annin Township residents has been scheduled for Tuesday at the Community Park, for those interested in the recently discussed nuisance ordinance. The meeting begins at 7:00pm.
Bradford’s Summerfest begins today at 10:00am. Activities continue until 8:00pm. Many activities are palnned, including craft vendors beginning at 10:00am and food vendors until 8:00pm.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a hit and run yesterday afternoon was investigated by troopers from the Emporium state police barracks. They tell us during the incident, an arrow sign owned by Emporium Borough was damaged.
Ridgway based state police tell us criminal mischief between the 7th and yesterday remains under investigation by their barracks after someone broke a window at the Jones Township Senior Center. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers in Ridgway.
Coudersport based state police responded to an accident Tuesday along Fishing Creek Road in Roulette Township shortly before 8:00pm. Dale Barney, 47, of Roulette was traveling north in a 76 Chevrolet Corvette, with his passenger, Lynette Barney, when his car left the roadway along the east berm. It then traveled back onto the roadway, crossing the southbound lane, before crossing the northbound lane where it impacted an embankment. We’re told by troopers who investigated that Barney then left the scene. He was later located at his residence, where troopers determined that Barney was under the influence before arresting him.
With an original reporting date of September 19th, Judge Leonard Sand has decided that John and Timothy Rigas, both charged in connection with the down fall of Adelphia Communications, may remain free pending their appeals. Judge Sand stated that the appeal could take upwards of a year or longer. Sand also made it clear that he believed it was in the best interest of Michael Rigas that another judge hear that Michael’s re-trial.
The apparent murder of an Olean man remains under investigation by Olean City Police. The man’s name has been withheld, pending the notification of next of kin. According to reports, the stabbing death of the individual occurred near the intersection of West State and North Fifth streets. No further details relating to any arrests are available at this time.
During the recent Hamlin Township supervisors meeting, supervisors decided to look into the demolition of the former hotel in Lantz Corners, between Allegheny Crossroads and Beckwith Machinery. It was discussed how the building was being used by transients and could become a meth lab.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a crash last evening, shortly after 6:00pm was responded to by Coudersport based state police. James Cress, 76, of Coudersport was traveling too close to a vehicle operated by Nicholas Marzo, 18, also a Coudersport resident. When the Marzo vehicle stopped for another vehicle, it was impacted from behind by the Cress vehicle. Both James Cress, operator of the second vehicle, and his passenger, 70 year old Lise Cress, sustained minor injuries.
We’ve learned that the Potter County Coroner’s office investigated the death of 70 year old Wayne Clendenin of Kirkwood recently. We’re told by Coudersport based state police that Clendenin was operating a 4-wheeler in Finch Road Sunday evening, when he stopped shortly before collapsing. CPR attempts proved unsuccessful by a family member.
And Michael Clark, 37, of Avis was stopped by Coudersp
ort based state police on the 8th along Route 6 in Ulysses Township. Troopers stopped the accused for a traffic violation at which time it was also discovered the operator was in possession of a large amount of unstamped cigarettes. Clark was issued a non-traffic citation and released.More time was given to convicted murderer James McMahon by Judge John Cleland in McKean County Court yesterday. McMahon is serving a life sentence in the stabbing death of Link Dowell in March of 2001 at the Bradford Hotel bar.
Demolition of the Bradford Rollerdrome is scheduled to begin today. New owner John Kohler stated that he became the new owner of the property yesterday morning. In phase 1 one the project, Kohler plans to build a 14,000-square foot strip mall plaza, with one tenant already planned to move into the facility.
Nearly 20 federal, state and local representatives along with contractors and organizations met yesterday afternoon at the Port Allegany Borough offices to discuss the Streetscape project. Among the plans are the addition of planters, sidewalk improvements, an information display and new parking spaces. It was also decided to hold meetings on an as-needed basis.
Jamestown Community College is expanding, with the addition of an office in Allegany County. The office, to open in the near future, will be used to better serve those attending from Allegany County. Officials have enrollment from Allegany at 250, with total enrollment at 3,826.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…we’re told by troopers in the WQRM listening area that all was quiet. There were no related incidences to report either.
Harassment yesterday by Benjamin Gregori, 73, of Weedville was investigated by Ridgway based state police. We’re told Gregori threw rocks at 54 year old Peggy Coppolo numerous times.
Burglary yesterday in Coal Hollow, Fox Township remains under investigation, according to Ridgway troopers who are conducting the investigation. A known 15 year old forcibly entered the home of Gerard Holterback before stealing several bottles of beer, in addition to a .22 caliber rifle.
Theft Sunday remains under investigation by Emporium troopers, who tell WQRM 28 year old Joshua Patton of Emporium told troopers someone stole his was wallet while he was swimming. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers.
No injuries were reported during a fire yesterday morning along Derrick Road in Derrick City, shortly before 11:00am. Kane based state police who investigated tell us a toaster is most likely to blame for the fire at the home of Claire Pusateri. Damage was estimated at $30,000.
Criminal mischief between Saturday and Sunday is still under investigation by troopers from the Ridgway barracks. David Smith, 28, of Wilcox told troopers someone smashed a window out of his 89 Cadillac while it was parked at the McFarland House. Damage is estimated at $75.00.
July 1st saw Emporium based state investigate an incident of harassment between Adam Weston, 23, and Crystal Leydig, 18, both Emporium residents. According to troopers who responded, Weston was cited in the incident.
And the McKean County Planning Commission meeting scheduled for 5:30pm today has been canceled.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…Charles Murphy, 31, of McKeesport was operating a 1992 Roadmaster station wagon Saturday along River Road in Millstone Township when he lost control, allowing the vehicle to leave the roadway. The car, according to Ridgway troopers, then rode up an embankment, rolling onto its roof. As a result of the accident, Murphy’s legs became pinned under the dash. During their investigation, Ridgway PSP found Murphy was DUI. Charges are pending.
A crash involving Vivian Fisher, 41, of Kersey and a Harley Davidson occurred Saturday at the Irwin Run Bridge in Elk County. Fisher reportedly lost control of her bike on loose gravel around 7:20pm, before the bike impacted the bridge, resulting in serious leg injuries for Fisher. No helmet was worn.
Harassment yesterday afternoon in Keating Township left Donald Valerius, 39, of Smethport charged in connection with an incident of harassment against 27 year old April Valerius of Bradford. The charges stem from a verbal altercation at the Valerius residence.
Charges were filed against Michael Neigh, 50, of Benezette after he left a tractor trailer containing municipal waste in a parking lot south of Route 255 in Jay Township on Sunday.
Kane based state police tell WQRM Randy Rockwell, 28, of Ludlow was charged with public drunkenness after he was found by troopers leaning against a truck on Eschrich Road around 9:45am.
Coudersport based state police tell us criminal mischief between last Thursday and Friday along West Branch Road was investigated by their barracks. According to the report given, Philip Herter of Galeton told troopers someone struck his mailbox with a blunt object.
Our checks with state police in Ridgway turned up an accident Saturday along Route 555 in Benezette Township. Robert Larkin, 48, of Ridgway was traveling east on a 1999 Harley Davidson Road King, while Barry Fitchner, 39, of Gilbertsville, was operating a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche in a westerly direction. While Larkin was attempting to negotiate a right curve, his bike crossed the center line, where it struck the driver’sside of the Fichtner vehicle. After making contact, the bike continued on in an easterly direction, where it struck the guiderail. Larkin, who was not wearing a helmet, was then thrown from the bike, coming to rest along the eastbound lane. Larkin was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Elk County coroner. All occupants of the Fichtner vehicle escaped unharmed. The investigation continues.
Underage drinking Friday left a known juvenile charged in connection with the incident investigated by Kane based state police. They tell WQRM a suspicious vehicle was seen at the Anderson Saw Mill around 12:45am Friday. Upon further investigation by troopers, 3 individuals were found in the vehicle.
Criminal mischief between Thursday and Friday in Millstone Township was investigated by troopers from the Ridgway barracks. Their report states that someone slashed 3 camping tents and a screened tent belonging to Brockport resident, Timothy Baxter. Damage is estimated at $340.00.
And criminal mischief between June 28th and this morning occurred at the residence of Daniel Ritter, 47, of Kersey. Ritter told troopers someone also caused damage to his lawn with an ATV during this crime.
Two rabies cases, one involving a fox, the other involving a bobcat, have been reported in WQRM coverage area. A fox along Dingman Run Road in Potter County was found on Wednesday. To help avoid such cases, residents are reminded to not leave their pet’s food outside, especially overnight. In a related note, a rabies clinic has been scheduled for Austin’s Firehall on July 30th, the Shinglehouse Park on August 27th and Roulette’s Firehall on September 10th.
Eldred Township VFD will hold several events in August and September, including an All-You-Can-Eat spaghetti dinner August 13th. Doors open at 4:00pm for the dinner. In September a country music festival is planned for the 4th, from 2:00 to 10:00pm. A fee will be charged. Admission is by pre-sale ticket only. For more information, contact a fireman.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yest4erday…all was reportedly quiet on area streets and highway. However, an accident did occur Wednesday along the Summit Road in Hebron Township, Potter County, according to our checks with state police in Coudersport. Their report states that Alicia Aldrich, 18, of Mt. Wolf, Pa was traveling west when she failed to negotiate a right turn while riding an ATV. The ATV then traveled across the southbound lane, rolling into a ditch when the operator lost control. Aldrich was taken to Charles Cole for treatment of her minor injuries.
Burglary Wednesday remains under investigation by Coudersport troopers. We’re told that sometime on Wednesday someone entered a garage owned by William Butler of Ulysses. Removed was approximately 550 square feet of R-19 insulation, 750 feet of R-21 insulation and 4 61.7 pound buckets of sheetrock joint compound. Anyone with information pertaining to the missing items, valued at $500.00, is asked to contact troopers.
And Kane based state police tell us a theft occurred June 24th at Pine Acres Pro Shop along the Warren road in Lafayette Township. Kirk Russell, of Bradford told troopers that a Cleveland Classic Launcher gold club was removed between 12:00pm and 12:45pm.
Former Hazel Hurst resident U.S. Air Force Tech Sergeant Jamie Himes Dana continues to improve after being injured nearly 2 weeks ago in a blast while serving in Iraq. She was reportedly taken off a respirator yesterday, and is now breathing with the help of an oxygen mask.
And the Holy Rosary Festival in Johnsonburg begins today with their kick-off at 6:00pm. Activities continue through Saturday and Sunday.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a hit and run at the Wal-Mart in St. Marys was investigated by Ridgway PSP. They tell us someone struck a 93
Chrysler LeBaron owned by Richard Geci of St. Marys. No further details are available.Coudersport troopers responded to an accident along East Fork Road, just north of Summit Township on Tuesday. A report issued states that Eric Nelson, 36, of Dover was traveling along East fork Road on a Harley Davidson in a northerly direction, while Doris Ianson, 64, of Austin was traveling in the opposing direction in a 2002 Dodge Durango. To avoid a collision, Nelson headed for the ditch. A tire on the Nelson bike made contact with a tire on the Ianson vehicle. Nelson escaped with only minor injuries.
A hit and run Tuesday along Water Street Extension in Ridgway was investigated by troopers there. An unknown vehicle traveling south left the roadway and struck a guide wire attached to a utility pole. The pole broke, while the vehicle continued and struck a fence owned by Albert Casilio of Johnsonburg.
Theft by deception at the Wal-Mart in St. Marys remains under investigation by troopers from the Ridgway barracks. According to their report, someone presented 4 checks on a closed account between June 10th and the 15th.
Those with information into the illegal use of a credit card belonging to Patsy Duplessis of mount Jewett are asked to contact troopers in Kane. They’re investigating an incident where someone used the credit card to rack us $1,450 in charges on moster.com.
A major employer in Potter County has made arrangements to sell off its long distance service. Adelphia Communications is working with Pioneer Telephone on the arrangement, which will transfer 110,000 customers in a deal reportedly worth $1.2 million. Adelphia long distance spans 27 states. A hearing in Manhattan will take place on the matter on the 26th.
The Elk County Salary Board created a full-time position for Field Assessor and Transaction Specialist during their regular meeting held Tuesday. Unanimous approval was received for the opening. The next board meeting is slated for October 4th in the Elk County courthouse Annex.
David Paul Davis, 25, has been charged in connection with his attempted escape from the County prison on Sunday afternoon. Davis awaits extradition to North Carolina on a warrant after becoming a fugitive from justice.
Officials at Bradford Regional Medical Center tell WQRM efforts are continuing in their search for a replacement for 2 doctors previously employed by BRMC. A replacement, according to Communications Manager Kim Maben, for Drs. Lau and Burd are still being sought.
Senator joe Scarnati will hold constituent hours Friday from 11:00am to Noon at the Bradford Chamber office. He will also be in Kane at their Borough office from 12:30 to 1:30.
Old Home Days in Port Allegany are set for the 25th through the 30th. The carnival will open nightly at 6:00pm, with a matinee planned for Wednesday and Friday. Other activities planned include bingo and a kiddie parade. Advance tickets are on sale at Jubilee in Port Allegany each Friday and Saturday.

The cause of a fire investigated by the state police fire marshall and the Horton Township Fire Chief recently
concluded that a fire that destroyed a mobile home owned by Frank Irwin was started by an electrical malfunction of an unknown kind. The home was a total loss at $80,000.Kane troopers tell us a drug investigation continues. According to the release issued, a trooper arrived to find several marijuana plants behind a residence just outside Port Allegany proper.
And a hit and run July 4th at the boat launch in Hamilton Township left Kimberly Williamson of St. Marys charged in connection with the incident. Troopers tell WQRM Williamson was pulling from the Kiasutha boat launch Monday when her boat trailer struck a 2001 Dodge 2500 owned by Theodore Race of Kane.
Tuesday’s McKean County Commissioners meeting saw some new positions added and salaries set for those and others in county government. With a salary of $28,000 to $38,000, an assistant position was created in the CYS department. In other matters, a shift supervisor opening was created at the prison.
Bids were awarded during the Tuesday meeting of the Benezette Township supervisors. One bid awarded was to New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company for street widening. The next supervisor meeting is set for August 2nd at 7:00pm.
Lunch in the Square in Bradford planned for today, from 11:30am to 1:30pm, at Veteran’s Square has been rescheduled for Friday.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a fatal crash last evening along Route 49, east of Mills in Harrison Township left Dustin Chapman, 19, of Harrison Valley dead, according to our checks with Coudersport based state police who investigated. The report issued states that Chapman was traveling east when his 94 Eagle Vision traveled off the roadway, struck a road sign and then a tree. The investigation continues at this time, according to troopers.
Driving under the influence yesterday morning in Roulette Township left Joel Predmore, 25, of Coudersport charged in connection with not reporting an accident. A release from Coudersport based state police states that Predmore was also found to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused was taken into custody and transported to Charles Cole for blood testing, where he refused to take part. Charges are pending.
Forging plates, expired registration and theft were among the charges lodged against 22 year old Wade Lampman of Ulysses after Lampman was stopped along Rowley Road in Bingham Township yesterday at 6:00pm. Coudersport based state police who stopped Lampman have charged the accused with altering or forging documents and plates, possession of a controlled substance, receiving stolen property along with numerous traffic violations.
The Benezette Store along Route 555 in Benezette Township was the location of a theft still under investigation by Ridgway based state police. The incident, occurring between Sunday and yesterday, left at least $559.00 in cash and various alcoholic beverages stolen. Damage to the building is estimated at $1,700.
A known 14 year old from Kersey was the victim of a reported theft where someone stole a Diamond Back bicycle Saturday. According to Ridgway troopers who investigated, the $275.00 bike was recovered by the barracks.
Wal-Mart in St. Marys was the victim of a reported theft on Friday as 2 known juveniles attempted to remove items from the store, before being apprehended by store employees. Both juveniles were cited and released to their parents.
And Dennis Cummings of Natrona Heights told troopers from the Ridgway barracks state sometime between June 30th and July 1st someone entered his camp and removed a microwave and cordless drill.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…Ridgway troopers stopped 19 year old Erik Swackhammer of Weedville this morning shortly after midnight along Route 255, 1 mile south of the Force post office in Jay Township. Swackhammer was initially stopped for a traffic violation at which time it was discovered that he was also under the influence of alcohol.
Coudersport based state police tell WQRM Allen Worrell, 40, of Roulette was operating a vehicle along Route 6 last evening when it was observed that his registration plate was not securely attached to the vehicle being operated. At this time, troopers conducted a traffic stop, when it was noticed that Worrell was also driving under the influence. A search of his vehicle revealed a small amount of marijuana. Charges are being filed.
Terrance Henderson, 57, of Cambridge, Ontario was involved in an accident Saturday along Route 144, 5 ½ miles south of Galeton Borough. Coudersport troopers who responded tell WQRM Henderson was northbound when a deer entered his lane of travel. The 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 bike he was operating struck the deer before sliding on its side and ejecting Henderson. The operator was taken to ECMC in Buffalo for treatment of broken ribs and a punctured lung.
Criminal mischief yesterday along Route 46, north of Smethport remains under investigation by troopers from Kane. They tell us someone damaged a mailbox belonging to Clair Sweeney before fleeing.
Kane troopers responded to an accident in Hamilton Township, just west of Route 321 Saturday evening. The report issued states that Beverly Lemchak, 58, of Wexford was traveling east in a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu when, and for unknown reasons, she traveled off the roadway and struck a cement culvert. The car rolled twice before coming to rest. Lemchak was transported from the scene and onto Erie for treatment.
And Terry Smoker, 23, of Roulette was charged in connection with fleeing or attempting to elude police, after an incident Friday along Fishing Creek Road in Roulette Township. A report issued states that Smoker failed to stop after being approached by a marked police car, with flashing lights, shortly before 5:00pm. Smoker turned onto North Street within Roulette, before attempting to turn into River Street. At this time he was stopped within the village.
And the Smethport Historical Society will present a program, entitled "Recollections" at 7:00pm on August 11th in the Smethport High School Auditorium. Jim Johnson, chair for the event, asks that any veterans from world War II interested in taking part contact the McKean County Historical Society. The program is free and open to the public, with a free will donation being accepted.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…DUI left Brian Glatt, 38, of Kersey being charged with DUI after Ridgway based PSP stopped the accused this morning around 2:41. Glatt was stopped along Route 255, within Fox Township, for a traffic violation when he was found to be under the influence.
A collision yesterday afternoon along Route 446, south of Slack Hollow Road in Eldred Township was responded to by Kane troopers, who tell us Paul Burns, 78, of Port Allegany was traveling south when his 98 Buick Sedan left the roadway, entered a yard and impacted an embankment. Burns escaped unharmed, while his wife, Gloria received an unnamed injury.
Port Allegany police had Maple street in the borough closed off after they received a report of someone brandishing a weapon just after 10:00pm. No further details are available as to who may have been involved.
Criminal mischief, according to Ridgway troopers, was investigated last evening after someone threw a plastic gallon container of water from a vehicle, striking a vehicle owned by Patricia Sporres of Weedville. Damaged sustained to the 2002 Pontiac Montana was estimated at $100.00. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers in Ridgway.
Coudersport troopers tell us an undercover state trooper purchased illegal fireworks from Albert Lingeris of Galeton yesterday at Fat Albert’s Fruit Stand along Route 6 in Pike Township. Lingeris was taken into custody and charged with 2 felony fireworks violations, 1 misdemeanor violation and 1 summary offense. The accused was then arraigned and released.
And accident Wednesday along Route 59, west of Smethport was responded to by Kane troopers who tell WQRM a known 17 year old male was operating a 95 Ford F-150 eastbound when he fell asleep before traveling off the roadway and striking a ditch. The driver escaped unharmed.
A collision in Millstone Township on Wednesday was responded to by Ridgway troopers, who tell WQRM Joseph Brosky, 30, of Oakmont was operating a 1980 Ford F-350 when a deer ran in front of him. Brosky swerved to miss the deer, only to hit the guiderail.
Theft by unlawful taking Wednesday between 3:30 and 10:00pm in Wetmore Township was investigated by Kane troopers who tell us someone removed a helmet from a shed owned by April Chittester of Kane. Those involved then fled undetected.
Harassment Wednesday afternoon at the Adelphio Village in Harrison Valley left a known 16 year old charged in connection with an incident where the accused was involved in an argument with a known 13 year old. This incident was responded to and investigated by Coudersport based PSP.
Theft from Allegheny power occurred between the 24th and the 27th of this month at the Beaver Development area in Ridgway Township. We’re told by Ridgway troopers who are investigating that several tools, valued at $700, were removed from a utility truck. Anyone with information about this theft is urged to contact troopers at 776-6136.
Criminal charges are pending against a known person after the accused wrote a bad check for $143.20 for items purchased at Wal-Mart in St. Marys.
And another incident of bad check writing occurred back in January at the same Wal-Mart, as someone wrote a check in the amount of $251.00.
The Community Nurses will hold safe sitter classes beginning July 13th and ending the 15th at The Main Place in Bradford. Classes are for those ages 11 to 15. Registration can be made weekdays, at the Community Nurses office at 15 Main Street, between 8:00am and 4:00pm.
A lecture on "Kushequa: In the Shadow of the Bridge" will be held at 2:00pm today at the McKean County Historical Society'’ facility at the Old Jail Museum.
