On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…we’re told by barracks in the WQRM listening area that all was quiet. There were no related incidences to report either.
Ownership of the former Angell’s Entertainment Center in Bradford is under Roger Feura, but only for a short time, if the Downtown Bradford Revitalization Corporation gets their wish, which is to purchase and refurbish the facility. Feura, owner of the Bradford Pharmacy stated that the DBRC could take the entertainment center for $20,00 plus the cost of repairs and improvements.
A public knitting event will be held in Coudersport July 9th next to Olga’s Gifts and Art Studio. Coffee and tea will be offered and attendants are asked to bring a dessert to pass, along with their current knitting project if they have one. The event is free and open to those who enjoy knitting. The 3rd annual Rally in the Valley will take place August 20th and 21st in Olean. Registration forms and more information can be obtained through the Chamber of Commerce.
And Jamestown Community College in Olean will host a job fair July 13th, from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Five workshops, which are free and open to the public, will be scheduled. For more information, phone the Cattaraugus County One-Stop Career Center.NEWS

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…according to our checks with barracks in the WQRM listening area, all was quiet. There were no related incidences to report either.
DUI and Public Drunkenness, along with careless driving and restraint systems charges were filed against 37 year old Virginia Ferranto after Kane troopers responded to a residence along Philips Street in Mount Jewett yesterday. According to the report issued, neighbors reported a disturbance, which was responded to by troopers.
Ridgway based state police tell us they responded to the Brockport United Methodist Church recently to find that someone had broken a window at the Parsonage before fleeing on foot.
Kane troopers tell us Lauraellen Martin of Ludlow was the victim of a reported theft which occurred last evening. Martin told troopers her vehicle was entered before someone took her purse while her vehicle was at the Elija Run boat launch in Hamilton Township.
Criminal mischief Monday remains under investigation by troopers in Coudersport. During the incident on Monday, someone struck and destroyed a plastic mailbox owned by Thomas Butler of Coudersport. Anyone with information is asked to contact Coudersport PSP.
A DUI related crash occurred Monday evening, according to our checks with state police in Coudersport. Merle Seeley of Westfield was operating a lawnmower when the mower went over an embankment, rolled, and struck a tree. Seeley received moderate injuries as a result and had to be transported to Charles Cole for treatment. Charges are pending.
Criminal mischief between the 5th and Monday of this week remains under investigation by Coudersport PSP, who tell us someone smashed several windows, using nearby firewood, at a camp owned by Russell Yingst of Mt. Holly Spring, PA.
Theft between the 23rd and the 28th is still under investigation by Emporium troopers, who tell WQRM Dave Andrus reported that someone removed a Stihl chainsaw from a job site near West Creek Road in Shippen Township.
And simple assault and resisting arrest charges were filed against 41 year old Frank Hulton of Brandy Camp, after an incident on Monday along Route 219 in Horton Township. Hulton, according to troopers from Ridgway, was involved in an argument with Becky Brown and a 10 year old, both of whom were Brandy Camp residents. The accused was taken into custody and remanded to jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
Despite the hiring on some top officials for the county, the newest member of the New Directions Team stated during the latest commissioners’ meeting that money has still been saved, to the tune of $254,300. Bruce Burdick, who was hired to replace Tom Causer who stepped down to re-enter the private sector, took office in May.
And after an investigation by DA John Pavlock and local police, it was determined that the fireworks tents found around the county are legitimate. Pavlock stated as long as the items being sold are of the variety that are hand-held or set off and stay on the ground, the tents are legally being operated.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Emporium based state police tell us Paul Ball, 17, of Sinnamahoning was traveling east along Route 120 when he apparently fell asleep, crossed the center line and into the northern berm. His 93 Dodge Shadow then struck the embankment and a tree before rolling onto its roof and coming to rest. Ball was taken to Elk Regional for treatment of his injuries.
We’re told by Coudersport troopers that Dale Davis, 57, of roulette was the victim of a reported act of criminal mischief Sunday. The incident occurred as someone damaged Davis’ mailbox and the post the mailbox was attached to. Anyone with information is asked to contact Coudersport based state police.
Information provided by Coudersport PSP indicates that criminal mischief yesterday morning along Kaple Court Lane in Roulette was investigated by troopers there. According to the report, Kenny Simar’s mailbox was removed from its post and placed across the street. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact troopers.
Emporium based state police report that they pursued a red colored street bike operated by an unknown person on Saturday. The pursuit was stopped after 5/10 of a mile, as the violation was minor in nature.
Raymond Banks, 23, of Emporium was assaulted by a known suspect according to our checks with state police in Emporium. Troopers there tell us the incident occurred last Monday and the investigation continues.
We’re told by Kane PSP that a Magnum 606 Express 2 seat Go-Kart was found along Route 446 in Eldred Township. After being displayed in the front yard of a residence in the area in which it was found, we’re told it is now being held by the Kane barracks. To claim phone 778-5555.
Coudersport based state police investigated a burglary, which occurred between May 24th and June 26th at the intersection of Tracey Brook Road and Green Hill road in Hebron Township. Ted Heckman, 49, of Lancaster told troopers someone forcibly entered his camp. Nothing was reportedly taken. This investigation is ongoing.
And Quenna Stilson, 41, of Ulysses was the operator of an 86 Oldsmobile Coupe involved in an incident on the 26th. Coudersport PSP state that
5 to 4 was the vote recorded in the Bradford School Boards records for voting on Act 72, during yesterday’s meeting. With Tim Bean changing his vote and 2 other board members voting for the first time, the board opted out of the option to use gambling revenue instead of raising taxes for the Bradford School district.
It was announced yesterday by the McKean County commissioners that the Galico Bridge, south of Smethport, is now closed. The bridge, along Route 46 which provides access to Irish Hollow, will be closed until repairs are completed on the aging structure, which is awaiting funding for its replacement.
And Olean’s Annual fireworks display is set for Monday at Bradner Stadium.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…an accident yesterday morning along Route 155, 9.3 miles south of Route 6 in Keating Township was responded to by Coudersport troopers. They tell WQRM Holly Kisner, 34, of Port Allegany was traveling south when her 94 Buick Sedan hit a deer. A passenger in the pisner vehicle, 31 year old Travis Trowbridge was taken to Charles Cole for treatment of minor injuries. Kisner escaped unharmed.
An investigation into receiving stolen property continues by Ridgway troopers after Paul Benson, 34, of Weedville was found to have a 99 Ford F-250, valued at over $21,000. The truck was from Mid-town Motors in Warren. The investigation continues.
A 1 vehicle vital crash occurring Friday was responded to by Ridgway troopers, who tell us the incident occurred after a 92 Mercury Cougar LS driven by 31 year old Matthew Oertly of Kane rounded a curve along Route 219. The car then traveled onto the berm before reentering the northbound lane where it began to spin clockwise, striking a mailbox post. The car then continued northeast and struck a utility pole before rolling onto the passenger’s side. At this time, the car became airborne, striking a tree and then coming to final rest. Oertly was pronounced dead on the scene by Elk County Coronor Bert Sorg.
Deborah Oldham, 47, of Force told Ridgway troopers someone illegally entered her home Thursday between 6:30 and 10:50pm, taking $200 in cash.
Theft from property owned by Shirley Snyder of Roulette was reported to Coudersport based state police recently, after someone took Snyder’s propane tank sometime between the 22nd and the 23rd. Anyone with information about this crime should contact troopers in Coudersport.
Ridgway troopers tell us Niccoma Myers passed several checks on a closed account at Delullo’s Supermarket in Weedville between the 9th and the 10th.
And Daniel Gamer, 49, of Washington, PA was stopped by Kane PSP this morning along Route 219. A report issued states that Gamer was swerving in and out of traffic when troopers stopped him. Failing 3 sobriety tests the accused was taken into custody and his vehicle was searched, at whichtime drug paraphernalia was found. The investigation continues.
According to an AP report, more than $9.5 billion could be dished out to creditors involved in the mess with Adelphia. Shares of Time Warner were offered in the deal submitted Saturday in Manhattan.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…we’re told by Coudersport PSP that a hit And run yesterday morning around 11:00 was responded to by their barracks. A 2001 Chevrolet Tracker owned by Edith Tweedie of Genesee was parked at Erway’s Restaurant when an unknown vehicle struck the Tweedie vehicle’s driver’s door.
Ridgway based state police tell us a collision occurred yesterday afternoon around 2:30 along the Quehanna Highway in Benezette Township. 28 year old Eric Lang of St. Marys was traveling west when a deer entered the roadway before being struck by Lang’s 2005 Suzuki Motorcycle. Lang was thrown from his bike during the accident, receiving moderate injuries.
Mandi Johnston, 27, of Mount Jewett was cited for failure to restrain an animal after troopers from the Kane barracks were attacked by the pet yesterday.
A collision Tuesday was investigated by Coudersport based state police. They tell us Kyle Gledhill, 19, of Austin was operating a 2001 Yamaha ATV along Summit Street within the borough, when he lost control while swerving to miss bicyclists on the roadway. Gledhill sustained minor injuries after his ATV traveled off the roadway, where it struck a ditch and rolled after impact. The operator was cited for failure to operate a vehicle in a safe manner, in addition to not having registration and operating an ATV on the roadway.
We’re told by Coudersport based state police that Ramona Thomas of Port Allegany was the victim of a reported theft, which occurred on the 18th along Fishing Creek road in Roulette Township. Those involved reportedly scratched Thomas’ Dodge Neon while it was parked along Fishing Creek Road. Those involved also took the gas cap and broke 2 CDs. Anyone with information about this crime should contact troopers in Coudersport.
The McKean County Amateur Radio Club has made plans to hold a demonstration on emergency communication abilities from 2:00pm Saturday to 2:00pm Sunday behind the Klondike Trading Post on Route 59. More information is available by contacting Bill Edgar.
And a ceremony celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Smethport Memorial Recreation Center will take place Sunday at 1:00pm at the pool on West Willow Street.

On the traffic and accident scene over night and yesterday…a 1 vehicle accident occurred last evening, according to our checks with state police in Ridgway. They tell WQRM Nicholas Zehr, 25, of St. Marys was operating a 2004 Honda Motorcycle along Route 255. While riding the bike, Zehr looked in his mirror to see a passing motorist. When he looked forward again, he saw that the vehicle in front of him had slowed to turn into a driveway. Zehr lost control of the bike while attempting to avoid the collision. While doing so, Zehr fell and slid for about 100 feet. Zehr escaped without injury to himself.
Coudersport based state police report that an accident yesterday at 6:42pm was responded to by their barracks. While attempting to pass Rhonda Miller of Genesee, Charles Jordan, a Galeton resident, struck the rear of the Miller vehicle as it was turning into a driveway. The Miller vehicle spun clockwise off the east side of the roadway where it struck a wooden fence before coming to rest. Miller and a passenger in her vehicle were taken to Charles Cole for treatment. Jordan was not injured.
Joseph Popson, 39, of Johnsonburg has been charged in connection with removing 32 Nava Stone wedges from property owned by Redmond Ready Mix Inc. This according to Ridgway based PSP.
Public drunkenness this morning was taken care of by Kane troopers. They tell us Michael Blauser, 24, of Kane was walking along Fraley Street in Kane when he was stopped by troopers. Upon telling troopers that he was under the influence, Kane PSP charged the accused.
A 1 vehicle incident occurred on the 17th in Jay Township, according to checks with Ridgway PSP, who tell WQRM Jeanette Crater, 31, of Sinnamahoning was traveling south in a 95 Plymouth Neon when she failed to negotiate a sharp curve on Route 555. Her car left the roadway before striking a bank and then a road sign. Charges are pending.
And Jeffery Salvamoser, 36, of Wilcox was traveling north in a 97 Ford F-150 when he lost control along joy Gardens Road. His truck crossed into the west berm and struck a guiderail. The investigation continues and troopers tell us Salvamoser did not report the incident.
Zippo Manufacturing in Bradford has won the second half of their battle with the U.S. Department of Transportation and the TSA. The okay was given to filled lighters Yesterday, with an announcement made by Senator Rick Santorum. Specification were, however, made on how the lighters can be carried on checked luggage.
The Portville Drive-In has made plans to expand with the addition of a screen, measuring 20 feet by 50 feet. Owner Joseph Bordono says the small screen will show older movies, while the larger screen shows new releases. As a result of the addition of the new screen, the parking lot will shrink by half its current size. The new screen is set to be ready by early August.
And residents of Barden Brook Road are advised that their road will be closed from 8:00am to 3:00pm Friday for repair work.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet on area streets and highways according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area. Troopers tell us there were no related incidences to report either.
Coudersport based state police tell us a PFA order was violated yesterday by Christa Stone, 31, of Genesee. Stone was reportedly involved in a scuffle with David Snyder, a Whitesville resident, before troopers took the accused into custody.
Harassment on the 19th was investigated by Coudersport based state police. A report issued states that both David Snyder and Christa Stone were involved in an altercation over the custody of their children. Both are being charged with harassment.
And forgery between the 21st and the 25th of May was investigated by Coudersport troopers, who tell WQRM Teresa Seibert, 21, of Austin was charged in connection with forging checks belonging to Crystal Kelley of Roulette.
Brian Gustafson, owner of Priority Ambulance in Smethport is the new owner of Bradford’s McCormick Ambulance Service. Gustafson purchased the Bradford service approximately 3 weeks ago. Gustafson went on to say that Priority Care has been in business for 10 years. With the purchase of the Bradford service, Gustafson saw no changes in service for the Bradford area.
The search for missing Pittsburgh resident Charles Beltz was called off by Elk County authorities. Those involved stated that over 200 miles surrounding the campsite where he was reportedly last seen had been searched. No real reason was given as to why the search was called off, other than those involved stating that its believed that Beltz is no longer in the area.
Elk County Commissioners held a brief meeting yesterday morning, at which time they opened bids for recycling bin drop-offs and discussed the Force playground. The next meeting is set for July 5th at 10:00am at the Elk County Courthouse.
And the Summerfest car show is set for this Sunday, on the island at Hamlin Lake. Registration is beginning at 9:00am, with the awards presentation set for 3:00pm. Also set for Sunday is a chicken barbecue by the Smethport Fire Police.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was reported as being quiet, according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.
Criminal mischief between the 14th and the 16th of this month remains under investigation by troopers in Coudersport. They tell us tires were punctured on vehicles owned by Henry Deible of Reynoldsville and John Chapman of Brockport while their vehicles were parked along Big Moores Run Road in Homer Township. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact troopers.
Underage drinking around 2:00am today was the reason Tyler Fry, 19, of Kane was stopped by troopers from Ridgway. Fry was reportedly stopped along Route 219 in Jones Township after troopers found the accused along the roadway. Charges were filed.
Burglary between the 18th and the 20th remains under investigation by Coudersport PSP, who tell us the crime occurred at Woodcraft Inc. of Genesee as someone gained entry through a
garage type door. Removed during the crime were 3 Porter Cable pin nailers, 15 Dewalt battery chargers, 10 Dewalt Cordless drills, a box of Router bits, a Porter Cable router, and 2 Porter Cable Laminate Routers with the bits. Also, during the crime a desk was rummaged through before about $10.00 was removed. Reports state that the stolen items are valued at $5,000.00. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact troopers in Coudersport at 274-8690.A garage on property owned by Richard Burton, along Route 144 in Abbott Township was entered between the 15th and the 18th, according to our checks with Coudersport based state police. Once inside the unlocked garage, actors removed 6 gas cans, a Stihl chainsaw, a Stihl weed-eater and a 30 pack of beer. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Coudersport barracks.
The sentencing of the founder if Adelphia along with one of his sons was handed down yesterday in Manhattan. Judge Leonard Sand handed down a sentence of 15 years, possibly a life sentence, for john while his son Timothy received a sentence of 20 years. Sand was stated as saying that had it not been for the elder Rigases health, a tougher sentence would have been given.
The search for a Pittsburgh man continues. In its 3rd week, Ridgway based state police tell us 56 year old Charles Beltz’s van was located at a camp site along River Road on June 11th, 6 days after he was reported missing.
And Representative Causer tells us he has posted a petition on his website for concerned citizens who wish to sign regarding the hiring of more state troopers.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…a traffic accident Saturday in Ulysses Township was responded to by Coudersport based state police. Their report states that Dale Fry, 20, of Roulette was traveling too fast along Route 449, when his 2002 Nissan Frontier went off the roadway, striking an embankment and overturning. This investigation continues. Fry was taken to Charles Cole for treatment of his moderate injuries, while his passenger, 18 year old Megan Lehman was not injured.
Ridgway troopers tell us DUI was the reason for a stop conducted Saturday along Hayes Road in Fox Township. Troopers stopped 67 year old Cecelia Krise around 1:45am after the actor committed several traffic violations. Krise may be charged, according to troopers.
Kple’s Pond along Route 6 in Roulette was the sight of a reported incident of harassment yesterday. Acording to troopers from the Coudersport barracks who responded, David Lesh, 38, of Roulette was the victim of a reported harassment when Lesh was involved in an argument with 3 other individuals. Anyone with information about this incident should contact troopers.
Disorderly conduct yesterday at the Potter County Snowmobile Club grounds in Sweden Township remains under investigation by troopers, who tell WQRM Bryan Neff of Coudersport called troopers to report that those at the club were setting off fireworks at an unreasonable hour.
And Emporium troopers report that Casey Strahl, 18, of Emporium was arrested for committing 5 burglaries last month in Emporium. The accused was arraigned and placed in the Elk County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
The Community Blood Bank of Northwestern PA will be at the Bradford Public Library on West Washington Street, today from 11:00am until 4:00pm. The CBB is the sole provider of blood to BRMC. Walk-ins are welcome.
The Smethport Senior Center will hold a fundraiser Friday at Hull’s RV Barn, beginning at 6:00pm. A tureen dinner will start at 6:00pm, with round and square dancing to start at 7:00pm. Music will be provided by Country Gentlemen Plus One.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an accident yesterday morning around 2:15 was investigated by Coudersport based state police, who tell WQRM Dennis Detrick, 50, of Coudersport was traveling along Route 872 when he attempted to miss a tree in the roadway. While doing so, Detrick lost control of the vehicle he was operating, sending it off the roadway where it flipped onto its roof and into Little Fella Trout Hatchery. Deitrick was taken by ambulance to Charles Cole for treatment of minor injuries.
A hit and run yesterday in Lafayette Township was investigated by Kane based state police. Their report states that someone possibly operating a full size pick-up sideswiped a tractor trailer being towed by Albert Kuppertz of Russell, PA. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Kane PSP.
Under age consumption yesterday left Joseph Milchuck III of Coudersport cited for the same.
Kane based state police tell us theft by deception was investigated by their barracks recently. According to the issued report, Wilma Haupt of Eldred told troopers she received a notice that she was the winner of $200,000. She was reportedly told she had to send a check for $1,800 to cover taxes on the prize. The investigation continues.
Attempted suicide by a known 24 year old Brockway resident was investigated by Ridgway based state police. They tell WQRM the individual was searched for in Jay Township before the individual called his sister to report he was okay.
Tuesday saw Ridgway troopers investigate an incident of criminal attempt at the residence of Patricia Anderson of Kersey. Anderson told police someone attempted entry into her home by breaking the dining room window latches between 5:30am and 4:30pm. No entry was made, according to troopers.
An accident Monday along Markert Road in Jones Township left Heather Piccirillo, 20, of Ridgway with charges pending after she lost control of her 92 Pontiac. Piccirillo was not injured. However, 2 passengers in her car received minor injuries and were treated at Elk Regional.
An investigation into the unauthorized use of Shannon Goss’ 99 Pontiac Grand AM GT on Tuesday continues by Emporium based state police. No further details are available.
And Olivett’s Market in Emporium was the sight of a reported incident of harassment on the 12th. Danielle Manduke told troopers in Emporium that was harassed by a known person.
A proposal in nearby New York state would require repeat drunk drivers to carry special plates on their vehicles, as proposed by Thomas Libous and Nicholas Spano.
St. Bonaventure tells us a limited number of opening remain for local junior high school girls interested in a new camp being held for those interested in learning more about leadership, in addition to being more prepared for college. On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…checks with state police in the WQRM listening area came up with an all’s quiet on area streets and highways overnight and yesterday. There were no related incidences to report either.
Kane based state police tell us theft between the 6th of this month and yesterday remains under investigation by their barracks. Robert Farnsworth told troopers someone smashed all the windows out of his 1990 Ford Bronco, in addition to puncturing 1 tire. Those involved also stole 2 turkey cookers, valued at about $120.00 each. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers.
We’re told by Coudersport based state police that an accident occurred Tuesday along Marvin Hill Road in Allegany Township. 26 year old Drew Watson of Coudersport was traveling north along Marvin Hill Road at a high rate of speed when the right side of his 93 Saturn struck a mailbox pole. The car then continued and struck a mailbox, owned by Jeanette Wragg of Coudersport. After impact the car continued into the woods for approximately 40 feet before Watson left the scene.
Theft between Monday and Tuesday was investigated by Coudersport PSP, who tell WQRM a Congratulations Class of 2005 sign was removed from the median across from Citizens National Bank in Genesee Township, Potter County.
Emporium troopers investigated a theft, which occurred Monday in Shippen Township as someone removed a Oswald Lane sign from a private driveway.
And bad check writing back in January was investigated by Coudersport PSP. They tell us Lea Brownell passed a check for $475.00 onto Gerald Burch. The accused was charged.
During their Tuesday evening meeting, Eldred Borough Council approved a garbage contract with Otto Township. The $14.00 rate for Township residents will also be the rate borough customers are charged. According to Matt Windor, this is an increase in rates, but for the better. In other news, bids for Mechanic Street repairs will be opened at the next meeting.
Kane Council approved a new 5-year deal with their employees during a recent meeting. Details will be announced after their agreement is officially signed.
PCN, the state’s cable channel, will begin airing on Channel 9 on Atlantic Broadband’s system as of Wednesday. Atlantic Broadband services the areas of the city of Bradford, Lewis Run Borough, and Foster and Lafayette Townships.

Emporium based state police tell us they have a bicycle, which was found in the Sy
lvan Hights area of Shippen Township recently. To claim, stop by the barracks.The state police fire marshal was called to the scene of a fire along State Street in St. Marys yesterday after a fire destroyed the kitchen area of a home owned by Mary Hasselman. The entire home suffered heat and smoke damage as a result of the fire yesterday afternoon. Damage, to the tune of $40,000, was determined to be the result of a book being placed on an electric range while a burner was turned on low.
Burglary Monday in Ridgway remains under investigation by state police there. According to their report, Marilyn Thompson’s residence was entered forcefully abetween 6:00pm and 10:00pm. Anyone with information id asked to contact troopers.
Theft from Heather Piccerillo’s wallet, following an accident recently, remains under investigation by Ridgway PSP. They tell WQRM someone removed between $50.00 and $60.00 before returning the money. This investigation continues.
A domestic dispute Monday in Roulette was responded to by Coudersport based state police. Between 9:30 and midnight Tina McGinley and David McGinley, both Roulette residents, were involved in a domestic dispute where the husband was subsequently taken into custody, arraigned and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
A 14 year old male was reportedly involved in a verbal argument with his father on Sunday in Hebron Township. Coudersport based state police state that after an investigation the incident never happened. No charges were filed.
Ridgway PSP found several juveniles parked in a handicapped parking space at Fairview Fuel. Upon being asked to remove their ATVs, one resisted arrest before being taken into custody and released to his parents. The case is ongoing.
The Lori and James Carlson property along Grant Street in Weedville sustained $15,000 damage as the result of a fire, determined to be arson. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Ridgway based state police.
Burglary on Thursday, May 27th remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police, who tell WQRM Roulette resident Lucinda White told troopers sometime between 12:45pm and 2:30pm someone entered her home. Further investigation by troopers found this incident to be unfounded.
And the prosecution in the Adelphia trial is after the maximum. 215 years is what they’re asking for former Chairman, and founder, John Rigas. Both John and his son, Timothy, are planning appeals. John, who has been suffering from several health issues, might see his sentence changed based on his health.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area, all was quiet on area streets and highways. There were no related incidences to report either.
Our checks with Ridgway based state police reveals that a theft occurred between Sunday and Monday of this week along East Branch Dam in Jones Township, as a Kenwood CD Receiver Stereo was removed from a pontoon boat owned by 73 year old Kenneth Minnear of Butler. According to troopers, Minnear stated that the stereo, valued at $210.00, was removed between 1:00pm on Sunday and 9:00am Monday. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact Ridgway based state police at 776-6136 or Elk County Crimestoppers at 1-800-775-2030.
Emporium based state police report a crash along Route 120, in Gibson Township. The incident, which occurred Sunday afternoon, left Gregory Syktich of Marion Center with severe injuries after he failed to negotiate a right curve along Tunnel hill. Subsequently, the Syktich vehicle impacted a trailer being towed by Robert Follin of Smithsburg, MD. Syktich was life-flighted to UPMC in Pittsburgh for the moderate injuries he sustained while riding his 2005 Harley Davidson.
Disorderly conduct Sunday leaving charges pending against 35 year old Daniel Cribbs of Kersey after he reportedly yelled obscenities in front of a residence along Upper Cherry Road in Fox Township. This according to our checks with Ridgway based state police.
Criminal mischief along Route 449, south of Genesee Township remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police. Penny Potter of Genesee told troopers someone poured sugar into the gas tank of her vehicle before fleeing. Anyone with information should contact troopers in Coudersport at 274-8690.
Criminal mischief between June 2nd and the 11th was investigated by Emporium based state police who state that unknown persons took a flag from property owned by Diana Reed of Emporium. The flag was burned by the unknown person or persons.
Attempted burglary between October 17, 2004 and June 10th of this year is still under investigation by Emporium PSP. They tell WQRM someone attempted to gain entry into a camp owned by Joseph Ruths of Danville. Entry was unsuccessful. However, damaged was sustained.
James Burfield of Lumber Township told Emporium based state police that someone damaged his driveway on the 8th. No further details are available.
Kane based state police were unable to located those responsible for damaging mailboxes owned by Eldred residents Robert Trask, William Williard and Alice Thurston. All victims reported their mailboxes were damaged by unknown means on June 7th, by someone who has yet to be identified.
Emporium troopers report an accident which occurred last Monday along Route 120, east of Sterling Run in Gibson Township. Jeffery Snyder of Renovo was traveling west when, and for unknown reasons, his 2004 ford Econoline Van left the roadway along the north berm, where it entered a ditch. After Snyder lost control of the vehicle, the van rolled onto the driver’s side and came to rest. Snyder and a passenger, 45 year old Robert Kyle of Buffalo, were taken to Elk Regional for treatment. Kenneth Rydzynski, another passenger in the Snyder vehicle escaped uninjured. Charges are pending against the driver for various traffic violations.
Criminal mischief along Wykoff Run Road in Gibson Township was investigated Emporium based state police, who state that someone broke a window at the Sinnamahoning Valley Recreation Center between June 2nd and the 6th.
Harassment between April 1st and June 6th was reported by Janice Tallyen, who told Emporium based state police someone made harassing phone calls to her during the reported time period.
Criminal mischief between June 3rd and the 4th along East Allegany Avenue in Emporium remains under investigation by troopers there. They tell WQRM Cheryl McKimm of Emporium was the victim of a reported incident where someone scratched a light cover on her vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers.
Leo Hanes of Emporium told Emporium based state police that some time between the 2nd and the 4th of this month someone broke a window at his residence along Pine Tree Road. No further details are available about this incident.
Pioneer Road residents Linda Andrews, Karen Prosper and Paula Cherry all told Emporium based state police that some one entered their homes between February 20th and March 1st, removing jewelry and prescription medication. The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers in Emporium.
The expensive and expansive deal between Rustick LLC and the Solid Waste Authority has been put on hold, due to some unfinished financial items. The deal was set to be finished up by Wednesday, according to reports. During the most recent SWA meeting, it was learned that someone didn’t do their work, which will in turn move the deadline into July, with an extension of 45 days.
With a vote taken during the Monday meeting of the Smethport School Board, the 2005-2006 budget was passed, including an increase of ½ mill.
In Ridgway, their school board also passed the upcoming school year’s budget, which includes no increase in taxes.
With a lack of participation, Port Allegany school board opted to meet again June 27th, when their budget will be voted on.
PA Cleanways of McKean County has reported that there’s still approximately space for 1,000 tires for their tire recycling to be held this Saturday at the American Legion parking lot along Route 155. On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…Ridgway based state police tell WQRM a collision occurred some time this morning between midnight and 2:30am. According to the report issued, a vehicle owned by Cecelia Krise of Kersey was parked in the parking lot of the Kersey Eagles when a 1995 Chevrolet Corsica struck the Krise vehicle before leaving the scene. No further details are available.
DUI yesterday along Route 255, at the intersection of Plum Street in Weedville kept Ridgway troopers busy. Dana Catalone, 51, of Weedville was stopped for a traffic violation at which time it was discovered the operator was also DUI. Charges were filed.
Ridgway PSP state that on Saturday a search began for missing 56 year old Pitcairn resident, Charles Beltz. Beltz is described as being a 5’11" white male, 200 pounds with blue eyes and gray hair. Beltz was last seen around the 8th at a campsite in the Belltown area. If you’ve seen Beltz, you’re asked to call the Ridgway PSP at 776-6136.
DUI along Route 555 near the Caledonia Pike left McKenzie Meyer, 18, of Grant charged with DUI, pending lab results. Meyer was stopped yesterday morning by Ridgway troopers for an equipment violation.
Harassment yesterday evening in Fox Township left David Neuriter, 33, of Kersey and 27 year old Kersey resident Nichole Koons charged in connection with an incident of harassment. Koons was also charged in connection with driving without a valid license.
A crash along Route 144, 4 miles south of Galeton was responded to by Coudersport troopers on Saturday. John Allen, 26, of Wellsboro was operating a 96 Pontiac around a left-hand curve when he lost control while attempting to miss a deer. He crashed the car after it hit an embankment and overturned. Allen was wearing his seatbelt and received no injuries.
Attempted burglary between June 11th and the 12th at the Coudersport Animal Health Center was report by Coudersport based state police. During the reported time frame, someone attempted entry into the facility by prying on 3 entry doors. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Coudersport based state police.
And Ridgway based state police tell us a crash occurred Thursday along Baumertown Road in Force, Jay Township. According to the report given, Ralph Ryden, 20, of Byrndale was traveling in a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier at an unsafe speed when he lost control while attempting to negotiate a curve. Ryden was not injured. One of 3 passengers in the Ryden vehicle was transported to an unnamed facility for injuries received.
The condition of Eric Carlson, who was involved in an accident Friday morning, has been upgraded to fair, according to a report in today’s Bradford Era. Carlson was eastbound along Route 59 when his vehicle hit a large rock and culvert before the vehicle re-entered the roadway and rolled onto its roof. The investigation into this incident continues by Kane PSP.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…we’re told by Coudersport based state police that an accident occurred yesterday evening around 9:18. According to the report issued, Anthony Reinis, 40, of Cherry Hill, NJ was stopped along Route 6 for excessive speed, at which time troopers found the operator to by DUI.
Harassment Wednesday in Fox Township is under investigation by Ridgway based state police. They tell WQRM someone assaulted Girard Beck outside his residence. Anyone with information is asked to contact the barracks.
Kane troopers are continuing their investigation into a burglary at Recycall, just south of Port Allegany. A report issued states that someone, between Wednesday and Thursday of this week, broke into 2 buildings on the grounds, grabbed the keys to a front loader and proceeded to use the loader to removed 2 loads of top soil. The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact Kane troopers.
Theft between May 1st and June 8th remains under investigation, according to our checks with Coudersport based state police. Approximately 20-30 cords of firewood were removed from property owned by Zelma Brendlinger of Coudersport. Those with information about this incident are asked to contact Coudersport PSP.
And bad check writing May 1st remains under investigation by the Ridgway barracks. Their report states that John Marshal received a bad check from a known person, totaling $450.00.
And officials with The International Group Inc. stated that the Farmer’s Valley plant they just purchased from Honeywell will remain open. It was mentioned that this plant is vital to their operations. The Farmer’s Valley facility began operations as Quaker State about 80 years ago. In 1989, the plant was purchased by Petrowax.
The Railroad Lecture scheduled for today at the Old Jail Museum in Smethport has been canceled. The program will resume next Friday, with a tour lead by Dick Robertson.
And the McKean County Planning Commission meeting scheduled for 5:30pm Tuesday has been canceled.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Kane based state police tell us a 3 car accident occurred yesterday afternoon along Route 44, in front of RAM Forest Products in Ceres Township. According to the report given, Melissa Blanchard, 22, of Shinglehouse and Bonnie Black, 46,were stopped in the northbound lane in their respective vehicles while Brian Clower, 22, of Wellsville, was unable to stop in time. The Clower vehicle then struck the Blanchard vehicle, sending it into the vehicle operated by Black. Clower has been cited for following too closely.
A fire yesterday in Weedville, at the Lori and James Carlson residence remains under investigation by the State Police Fire Marshal. According to Ridgway based state police who assisted, a 2 ½ story wood frame apartment building containing 4 apartments caught fire sometime around 7:30am. Quick action by the Crystal Fire Department contained the apartment or origin. Damage is estimated at $5,000.
Coudersport based state police tell us bail was set at $1,000 for Mark Buffington after he violated a PFA order Tuesday. Buffington, according to authorities, contacted a known female, in addition to verbally abusing said victim and breaking a window.
And forgery between May 21st and the 25th remains under investigation by Coudersport troopers, who tell WQRM someone removed personal checks from the residence of Crystal Kelley, of Roulette. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact troopers.
According to the Associated Press, the trial for John and Timothy Rigas has been delayed yet again. The new trial date is June 20th, with no reason given for the latest delay.
Officials with Honeywell announced that their wax plants, including the one in Farmers Valley have been sold to The International Group Inc. No comment was given on how the sale will affect the nearby plant. The Farmers Valley plant, which produces candles, waxed paper, automobile tires and lipstick, was formerly known as Petrowax and Allied-Signal.
Representative Martin Causer, along with Representative Kathy Rapp announced yesterday that nearly $1 million has been released to help support the rehabilitation of the Kinzua Bridge State Park. Governor Rendell announced in early 2004 that the bridge would not be re-built, after estimates were released pegging costs at $40 million or more.
Senator Joe Scarnati has set hours for Friday in Bradford from 11:00am to Noon at the Chamber of Commerce. He’ll also be at the Kane Borough office from 12:30 to 1:30.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…DUI left Timothy Sette, 41, of St. Marys arrested after a traffic stop was conducted this morning at 1:38. Ridgway based state police conducted the stop, initially for a traffic violation.
Ridgway based state police stopped 20 year old Dustin Hoy of Kersey this morning, shortly after 1:00am. Hoy was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and charges are being filed, pending lab results.
The scattering of rubbish on the First Baptist Church property in Roulette between Sunday and Monday remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police. Anyone with information is asked to contact Coudersport based state police.
Reed’s Market in Genesee was the victim of a burglary between Monday and Tuesday of this week. According to Coudersport troopers who responded, $200.00 in cash and an undetermined amount of cigarette cartons were removed during the crime. An undetermined amount of damage was also sustained by the business during the crime, according to troopers. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers.
Criminal trespass between May 31st and yesterday remains under investigation by Coudersport PSP. They tell WQRM Richard Smith of Rittman, OH was the victim when someone entered his seasonal residence and looked through his belongings. Disorderly conduct Sunday in Caledonia, Jay Township was responded to by Ridgway based state police who are charging Brett Chicola, 20 and Tara Romanic, 2,both Weedville residents, in connection with the crime when they arrived at a location along Route 555 and began yelling at Karen Forester, also a Weedville resident.
Coudersport based state police responded to an accident along North Hollow Road on Saturday. According to reports, Steve Tarr, 53, of Akron, OH was operating a vehicle when the right front wheel displaced itself, leaving the hub assembly to make contact with the roadway. Troopers tell us the accident occurred because several lugnuts were missing. There were no reportable injuries.
Burglary between May 7th and the 28th at property owned by Valerie Klein of Galeton remains under investigation by Coudersport troopers after someone entered her garage forcibly through the garage doors. Anyone with information about this incident should contact troopers at 274-8690.
And burglary in Roulette May 27th remains under investigation by Coudersport PSP, who tell WQRM someone entered the home of Lucinda White by way of the back entrance. Nothing was reportedly taken. Again, anyone with information is asked to contact troopers.
Where was he is the question being asked by those involved in the case regarding Michael John Hancock. In addition to sorting out things and trying to figure out why he shot himself, authorities are sorting through what involvement his father had in the whole thing.
Creditors with Adelphia Communications are asking that the $715 million settlement offered by Adelphia to avoid litigation be tossed out. The country’s 5th largest cable provider is based in Greenwood Village, CO.
During the Monday meeting of Smethport borough Council, council adopted an ordinance requiring solicitors to keep hours from 9:00am to 5:00pm, while conducting their business within the borough. And council decided, after several problems in the past, to keep the gate at Hamlin Lake Park closed to all motorized vehicles.
Blood donors, especially those with Type O positive, are urgently needed for a blood drive to be held today in Bradford at the Community Blood Bank. The drive will take place from 4:00 to 7:00pm at County National Bank on Union Square.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a hit and run yesterday was responded to by Ridgway based state police around 11:40pm. Their report states that someone driving an unknown vehicle was traveling north on Route 255 when the operator failed to negotiate a curve, leaving the vehicle to strike a guidewire and utility pole. Subsequently, the pole snapped interrupting utility service for several hours. We’re told that as of 4:30 this morning, service still was not restored. Anyone with information about this incident should contact troopers in Ridgway.
A 1 vehicle accident yesterday along Route 219 in Lafayette Township was responded to by Kane based state police. They tell WQRM the heavy storm yesterday knocked a tree down, sending a branch through the windshield of a 2003 Chevrolet Truck owned by Allen Buzard Jr. of Jamestown as the operator was traveling northbound. Buzard received minor injuries and was transported to Bradford Regional for treatment.
And Coudersport troopers tell us criminal mischief between Sunday and yesterday remains under investigation by their barracks. An unknown actor reportedly threw eggs at homes owned by Robin Freeman and William Haskins, both Ulysses residents. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coudersport barracks.
It was determined recently by Coroner Lou Radkowski from Elk County that Todd Boardman, who passed away after an accident in April, died as a result of hypothermia. Boardman was found along Route 146 by a passerby on April 17th, following a 2 week search. Radkowski states that the victim had been deceased for 10 days at the time his body was discovered.
The storm that hit yesterday reeked havoc throughout the WQRM coverage area, according to reports. In McKean County, downed trees were reported in several areas. While the storm also hit neighboring Potter County, in addition to the Warren area.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…Emporium based state police tell us a 2 vehicle accident occurred yesterday afternoon along Route 120, 3/10 of a mile west of Hunts Run in Lumber Township, Cameron County. Reportedly, Hollie Rosen, 24, of Sinnamahoning was operating a 98 Nissan Altima while attempting to pass another vehicle. While doing so, the Rosen vehicle collided with a 97 Chevrolet pickup operated by Charles Ullman, 32, of Emporium. The 2 vehicles collided, sending the Ullman vehicle off the roadway before it flipped and ejected Ullman. Rosen sustained no injuries while Ullman received moderate injuries. A passenger in the Ullman vehicle also received minor injuries.
Coudersport based state police tell us a 1 vehicle accident occurred Saturday along Route 44, in Eulalia Township. According to the report issued, Peggy Seibert, 39, of Shinglehouse was traveling north when she applied the brakes and attempted to swerve to miss a deer. Her 92 Pontiac Grand AM traveled off the east berm where it struck a speed limit sign and a utility pole. Seibert was charged for failure to immediately notify authorities after leaving the scene of an accident.
Criminal mischief Saturday remains under investigation by Ridgway based state police. They tell us someone shot 4 paintballs at the residence of Norma Gallagher of Benezette. Anyone with information about this incident should contact troopers in Ridgway.

Terry Carlson, 21, of Kane was charged in connection with furnishing alcohol to minors, who were later involved in an accident, May 26th. Kane based state police continue their investigation.

ice tell us they found a small amount of drug paraphernalia when they encountered 20 year old James Beil of Wilcox, 22 year old Joshua Johnson from Johnsonburg and Andrew Clerkin, 20, also a Johnsonburg resident. Beil and Clerkin were also cited for underage drinking.Coudersport based state police is investigating an incident where known suspects provided juveniles with alcohol during prom. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact troopers.
And harassment on May 1st left Christa Stone of Genesee charged in connection with an incident of harassment May 1st at State Line One stop in Genesee. Whitesville resident Michael Ainsworth was reportedly insulted by Stone during the incident.
A Port Allegany resident is after a new trial for charges of a sex-related nature after he was found guilty by Judge john Yoder a year ago. Billy Jack Vansickles, 23, was found guilty in connection with having a relationship with a 14 year old in 2003 when he was 19. The matter is being appealed to the state Superior Court.
And the McKean County Historical society’s museum is now open weekdays from 1:00 to 4:00pm. A presentation on railroading will be presented every Friday at 2:00pm in the Old Jail Lecture Hall.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an accident yesterday morning around 11:20 was responded to by Ridgway based state police. According to their report, Joseph Mascioni, 42, of Johnsonburg was driving north on Route 219 when a rocking falling from a southbound dump truck caused the Mascioni vehicle’s windshield to break. Mascioni suffer minor injury as a result when glass flew into his eyes. The investigation continues.
A burglary which occurred between May 28th and yesterday at the Ulysses baseball field remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police. They tell WQRM various candy items and a calculator were taken. Damages are pegged at $7.00, while the estimate for the cost of the candy is around $200.00. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact troopers in Coudersport at 274-8690.
Senator Rick Santorum is scheduled to visit Zippo Manufacturing Friday. During the visit, he’ll tour the laser engraving and plating departments. His visit will also be a time to discuss the ban on lighters in luggage.
A series of training courses is slated for June by the American Red Cross. Courses, which include Basic First aid on June 8th, Adult CPR on the 15th and infant and child CPR on the 22nd, will run from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. Pre-registration is required by phoning the Red Cross. A discount will be offered for those enrolling in more than one class.
A clean-up is being organized by the Allegheny National Forest for the area surrounding the reservoir. Work will begin June 11th at 9:00am at the Kinzua-Wolf Run Marina parking lot. On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Kane troopers responded to an accident yesterday morning along Big Shanty Road in Lafayette Township. Their report states that Shannon Scott, 17, of Lewis Run was traveling north when her 93 ford Sedan hit the east berm and began to slide counterclockwise. The car then impacted an embankment and overturned before coming to rest on its roof. Scott received only minor injuries.
A hit and run yesterday was responded to by the Kane barracks. They tell WQRM some time between 4:00 and 5:15pm a 2004 Honda Accord was parked in the Live-Lite parking lot when an unknown vehicle struck the driver’s side door of the car. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact troopers in Kane at 778-5555.
Ridgway based state police are asking for your help is finding the person or person who are responsible for operating a backhoe owned by Jamie Dowie. The piece of machinery was at the Elk County Fairgrounds Monday, when someone reportedly used the backhoe between 8:00and 9:00pm. The Corydon Hotel was the location of a reported theft between Sunday and Monday of this week. According to our checks with Kane based state police, someone removed a front license plate from a Mazda MX-6 owned by Harrisonburg, VA residents Lindsay Lowry and Nancy Shinaberry. Underage drinking last Thursday near the Kane Hospital left a known juvenile along with Kane resident, 19 year old Ashley Peterson charged with underage consumption.
Coudersport based state police report they investigated an incident where two BBs were discharged into a window on a building in Summit Township, owned by Shirley Fulmer of Collegeville.
Those with information pertaining to a burglary which occurred between April 17th and this past Monday are encouraged to call Ridgway based state police or Elk County Crimestoppers. An incident was investigated where someone entered a camp, by breaking a window. Once inside, various items, totaling over $2,300 were removed.
