On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Public drunkenness yesterday morning in Summit Township, Potter County gave Coudersport based state police reason to arrest Walter and Matthew Brumbaugh, both Lock Haven residents. Both individuals were found to be intoxicated after their vehicle was seen by troopers, parked in the middle of Route 44, near Patterson State Park. Both men plead guilty to their charges.

A collision on Sunday in Ulysses was responded to by Coudersport based state police who tell us Alvin Spencer, Jr. of Westfield was operating a Yamaha Banshee along Loucks Mills Road when the operator lost control of the ATV around 9:30pm. The ATV came to rest along the west side of the roadway before Spencer left the scene and admitted himself to Charles Cole for his minor injuries. Summary charges are pending and the investigation continues.

Criminal attempt from a vehicle on Sunday was investigated by Ridgway based state police. Their report states that an unnown suspect entered an unlocked 97 Buick owned by Larry and Katherine Muth of Ridgway. Those involved also entered a 97 Ford owned by Richard Zameroski, also a Ridgway resident. Nothing has been reported as missing, according to troopers.

A hit and run in the early morning hours of Sunday was investigated by Ridgway based PSP, who tell us Curt Fields,32, of DuBois was exiting Shawmut Road when his 99 Cavalier ascended a hill before rolling several times. Charges are pending.

Ridgway based state police report that a crash Saturday morning along Route 219 was responded to by their barracks. According to the report issued, Michael Gelsick, 77, of Wilcox was southbound in a 2000 Toyota Tacoma when he lost control after swerving to miss a stopped vehicle in his lane. Traveling off the west side of the roadway, his truck struck a parked and unattended vehicle. Charges were filed for not driving at a safe speed.

And an accident Friday in Millstone Township was responded to by troopers from the Ridgway barracks. According to their report, at an unknown time Robert Palmieri, a Cheswick resident, failed to negotiate a right curve along River Road. Palmieri was taken to Brookville hospital by a passerby and charges are pending.

`Today is the day Kane residents remember the tornado that touched down and reeked havoc in their neighborhood some 20 years ago. According to reports, the twister touched down at about 8:14pm. Several residents lost their life as a result and over 200 homes were damaged.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…2 incidences of criminal mischief on Wednesday were investigated by Coudersport based state police. According to the first report, an incident occurred between 3:00 and 3:30pm on property owned by Shawn Crowner of Genesee. Troopers tell us someone arrived at the Crowner residence and smashed the driver’s side window to his Chevy pickup, in addition to 2 windows in a Prowler camper. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coudersport barracks.

And in the second incident, Dusty Wheeler of Harrison Valley was the victim of a criminal mischief act as someone keyed the driver’s side of his vehicle, in addition to dumping sugar in the gas tank. Again, anyone with information is asked to contact trooper in Coudersport.

According to reports, deaths along highways in Elk and Potter counties rise between 2003 and 2004. McKean county also saw a rise in highway related deaths. Elk, McKean and Potter Counties are part of District 2, which also includes Clinton, Clearfield, Centre, Mifflin and Juniata.

In a vote of 7 to 2 during a recent Kane Area School Board meeting, members opted out of the Act 72, which would use gambling money in lieu of raising taxes.

And New York’s DOT got the okay needed to purchase land for an extension of Route 219, from Springville to Ashford. The cost to finish the 28-mile section is estimated between $4 and 5 million. Some time in the future Route 219 will join Route 86 by crossing Seneca owned land.

 

This is WQRM Regional News for Thursday, May 26, 2005

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was reportedly quiet on area streets and highways according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.

Kane based state police tell WQRM disorderly conduct yesterday by a known juvenile against his mother in Eldred was investigated by their barracks. The juvenile was arrested by Kane PSP.

A DUI crash Sunday was responded to by the Kane barracks at about 1:50am. They tell us the crash occurred as Lorinda Szczpak, a Bradford resident, was traveling north along Route 321 when her 2004 GMC Envoy crossed into the southbound lane, traveled off the west side and into a ditch where it impacted the said ditch. After impact, the vehicle rolled over and came to rest facing northeast. During the investigation it was realized that the operator was DUI. Chares will be filed.

On Saturday Kane based state police responded to a residence along Route 66 in Wetmore Township to discover a theft had occurred sometime between 2:00 and 4:00pm. A known male reportedly removed a 93 Olsmobile Silhouette, owned by Barbara Chaphe, a Kane resident. The investigation continues.

A child safety seat check will be conducted today and tomorrow at the Coudersport based state police barracks, along Route 6 east of Coudersport. Hours are from 10:00am to 3:00pm. For more information, phone the barracks at 274-8690.

Bruce Burdick, a Mount Jewett resident, was sworn in as the 3rd county commissioner Wednesday. Burdick replaces Tom Causer, who resigned to re-enter the private sector.

According to Bradford Area School District Superintendent, Sandra Romanowski, 7 reported bomb threats at schools in the Bradford School District were a result of those involved just wanting their 15 minutes of so-called 15 minutes of fame. In spite of names not being able to be revealed, Romanowski did say that action has been taken against those involved.

It was announced yesterday that Adelphia is planning to cease operation of their Long Distance service. After consideration of ceasing operation or restructuring the carrier, it was determined that it would be more feasible to shut down the carrier, which brought in $8.6 million in 2004. Those using Adelphia’s LD service will be given 30 days to find another carrier.

Bradford Area High School has made it to the final 4 in the Scholastic Scrimmage. The episode will be aired on WPSX-TV today, beginning at 9:00pm.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an accident yesterday evening along Route 346 in Eldred Township was responded to by Kane based state police who tell WQRM 18 year old Portville resident Kiesha Kamery was traveling east on 346 when she attempted to steer onto 346 after her 97 Nissan Sedan entered the berm. Kamery lost control before her car slid clockwise and impacted an embankment. The car the continued east and impacted a tree before coming to final rest. Kamery was taken to BRMC for treatment of her minor injuries.

Disorderly conduct on Tuesday was investigated by Kane PSP, who tell WQRM a known juvenile became combative on a school bus before the bus driver stopped at the state police barracks and had the child removed and the parents called.

Theft Monday in Crosby remains under investigation by troopers from the Kane barracks. The report issued states that someone removed $52.00 from a van owned by Randy Green. Those involved then fled on foot. Anyone with information about this incident should contact Kane based state police.

Kane High School parking lot was the scene of an act of criminal mischief on Monday, according to reports. A 94 Ford Ranger was kicked by unknown persons during the crime which occurred between 8:30am and 5:30pm. Those with information are asked to contact the barracks.

Criminal trespass on May 7th at the Wal-Mart in St. Marys remains under investigation by Ridgway PSP. The report given states that a 15 year old female entered the store before she was advised that she is no longer welcome.

Representative Martin Causer reminds volunteer fire companies and EMS personnel that the deadline for filing final reports is June 1st. Those not filing by the deadline will not be eligible for the 2004-05 Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Grant Program. Jamestown Community College has included a tuition increase in its 2005-2006 budget, which was okayed Tuesday. The increase in tuition is $100 for New York residents.

Allegany-Limestone School Board met Monday evening and learned that closing the Elementary School could save $37 for a homeowner with an assessed home value of $50,000.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an accident yesterday afternoon along the Eleven Mile Road in Oswayo Township, Potter County was responded to by troopers in Coudersport. They tell WQRM a 17 year old male, wearing his seatbelt, was traveling west along the Eleven Mile Road when his 95 Buick Regal went off the roadway, along the north berm, and then crossed the roadway and entered the south side of Eleven mile Road where it struck a tree, leaving the operator with undisclosed injuries. The driver was taken the Charles Cole for treatment, in addition to being cited for not driving at a safe speed and staying in his own lane of travel.

Theft between Friday and yesterday remains under investigation by the Ridgway barracks who tell us J. Little Oil Servicing was the victim of a theft where someone removed a 24 inch aluminum pipe wrench, 2-24 inch steel pipe wrenches, a 36 inch aluminum pipe wrench, a chain and binder along with a 5 foot digger bar. Anyone with information about these missing items should contact troopers in Ridgway.

Emporium based state police report that criminal mischief on Friday at the Cindy Geelen residence was investigated by their barracks. They tell us Zachary Pifer, 34, of Emporium removed a fence belonging to Geelen, an Emporium resident, before discarding it on the property.

Patricia Jones of Emporium was the victim of an act of criminal mischief between the 19th and 20th, when someone knocked her mailbox off its pole. Those with information about this incident should contact troopers in Emporium.

Disorderly conduct on the 15th left 7 juveniles being cited in connection with an incident on the property of William Bailey, according to Emporium troopers.

Emporium based state police tell us they have found a bicycle, along the Meadow Road in Shippen Township. To claim, call the barracks.

And Krise Bus Service in Punxsutawney was the victim of a reported criminal mischief incident between the 13th and the 15th. A report from the Emporium barracks states that someone entered 2 of the school busses. Nothing was reportedly damaged.

The deal between the SWA and the Rustick LLC is reportedly nearing completion. A June 15th date has been set for closing. No comment was given by the SWA regarding the organizations future and any payments to be made by the future owner of the landfill in Hutchins.

After a quarter century of service in the Bradford School District, announcement has been made of the plans to retire by Dr. Terry Hoover. Hoover is reportedly credited with creating what is now Fretz Middle School.

In a decision during Monday evening’s meeting, Port Allegany School Board opted out of Act 72, with a vote of 5 to 2. It was also reported during the meeting that life insurance will increase by $5,000 to $30,000 and teacher aides were added to the coverage.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…Ridgway troopers tell WQRM they stopped a known 16 year old male along Ridge Road. The juvenile was stopped for several violations, at which time it was discovered the youth was also intoxicated. Charges will be filed for DUI in addition to multiple traffic violations in Elk County Juvenile Court.

Coudersport based state police along with Kevin Dusenbury, Potter County Coroner, ruled the death of 24 year old Genesee resident Philip Tomak as a suicide after he was discovered over the weekend.

A hit and run Saturday is still under investigation by Kane PSP, who tell us the incident occurred as a 2002 Dodge Truck was traveling east along Route 346 in Duke Center. As the truck was leaving the eastbound lane, it struck a 98 Chevrolet. The Dodge, operated by James Gleason, 31, then struck a 97 Volkswagon, which caused the Volkswagon to move forward and strike a 2002 Toyota. Gleason then pulled away and continued along Route 346 and on to Prentisvale, where his truck was later located by authorities. Gleason was determined to be DUI and charges will be filed.

A collision Saturday was responded to by Coudersport based state police, who tell WQRM the incident occurred around 1:45pm when a 14 year old driving an ATV attempted to ascend a hill on private property in Austin. The ATV flipped over and onto the driver and an 11 year old passenger. Both individuals sustained only minor injuries.

Criminal mischief between Friday and Saturday in Highland township remains under investigation by Ridgway state police. They tell us someone broke the side windows and windshield out of a 1982 International Truck owned by ARG Resources in Conshohocken. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers in Ridgway.

Donna Bloomfield of Roulette was the victim of a reported simple assault and harassment between May 13th and the 15th. A report issued by Coudersport based state police states that Jerry St. Clair, 25, of the same address in Roulette struck, shoved and choked Bloomfield during the incident. St. Clair was arrested and placed in the Potter County jail in lieu of $3,500 cash bail.

Criminal mischief on Saturday, the 14th, was investigated by troopers in Coudersport, who tell WQRM Sandra Eicholtz of Cross Fork was the victim of a reported act of criminal mischief when 3 known juveniles, 2 from Genesee and 1 from Ulysses, shot paintballs at her vehicles.

And a ring was found by Coudersport based state police in the Eulalia Township area. To claim, phone the barracks.

A free roundtable will be held June 1st from 9:00am to 2:30pm at the Coudersport American Legion. Discussed will be on Energy, Utilities and Aging. Information on home energy, low-income utility programs and insurance issues will be available. Registration is limited to the first 125 persons. And dog obedience classes will be offered by Penn State Cooperative Extension in Coudersport, Tuesday afternoons from May 31st through July 5th. Space is limited and registration must be made by May 27th. Those attending should bring with them a 6 foot lead and a choke collar to the first session.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Ridgway based state police tell WQRM a hit and run occurred early this morning in Jones Township, Elk County. According to their report, the hit and run occurred when a truck described as being a newer model, possibly a Chevy extended cab, white in color side-swiped the driver’s side of a 98 Chevrolet truck owned by Glenn Hickman of Niles, OH. Anyone with information about this incident should contact troopers at 776-6136.

At 12:540am today, Kane based state police responded to an accident along Route 155, south of Route 446, Eldred Township. According to the report given, Robert bowman, 64, of Coudersport was traveling south when his 2000 Oldsmobile left the roadway and struck a tree. The car then spun and came to rest off the east side of Route 155. Bowman was transported from the scene by Eldred Borough Ambulance. A passenger, Scott Johnson, of Port Allegany received only moderate injury, according to reports.

Theft between yesterday and 5:30 this morning in Hazel Hurst was investigated by troopers in Kane. They tell WQRM William Walker of Hazel Hurst reported that someone took a Alpine Stereo CD Player from his vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kane barracks.

Emporium based state police tell us criminal mischief yesterday was investigated by their barracks after Cecelia Malizia of Emporium told troopers that a known juvenile attempted to gain entry into her residence. The suspect was apprehended on the scene and a juvenile allegation was filed with the probation office.

A sewer replacement bid for Port Allegany work has been awarded to Bradford’s bob Cummins Construction. At a price tag of $188,877. Work to be done will be on Vine and Ransom streets in the borough. Four other bids were received ranging from nearly 243,000 to just under $363,900.

Bradford’s Summerfest is set for July 15th and 16th. This year’s events will be under the direction of the East Bradford Business Association, according to Mike Smith. Events planned include sidewalk sales, craft vendors and Zippo Days.

And a Mount Jewett Ecumenical Service is being planned by the clergy there for Thursday at 7:00pm at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church. An offering will be taken to help the Mount Jewett Hunger project.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an accident yesterday morning in Kersey was responded to by troopers from the Ridgway barracks. TTheirreprot states that troopers responded around 10:00am to find that an accident had occurred after a Ford F-150 driven by 37 year old Thomas Slaughenhaupt of Kersey had entered the path of a Chevy Impala driven by 70 year old James Sheeley of Dagus Mines. Slaughenhaupt told troopers that his foot slipped off of the clutch while attempting to stop at a stop sign. Both vehicle sustained some damage and charges will be filed. Sheeley sustained minor injuries as a result of this accident. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Burglary on Wednesday at the Kane Country Club remains under investigation by troopers from the barracks there. They tell WQRM someone entered a building on the grounds and took liquor, beer, sunglasses, money and a t-shirt. Anyone with information about this crime should contact troopers.

Retail theft from the Wal-Mart in St. Marys yesterday left Timothy Sanchez of Ridgway and Mark Jundzilo of Johnsonburg charged with retail theft.

Coudersport based state police tell us a known 17 year old has been charged with falsely reporting an incident to authorities after they conducted an investigation into a personal act Tuesday.

Criminal mischief between Tuesday and yesterday in Fox Township remains under investigation by troopers in Ridgway. Troopers there tell WQRM someone intentionally drove through the yard of Lori Schlimm of Kersey. During the crime those involved destroyed a pitching net valued at $99.00.

Approval by one of the 3 judges who must sign off on the charges against the Rigas family did so yesterday. In excess of $1.5 billion in assets was turned over by the Rigases yesterday in Manhattan. Proceeds will go toward compensating those who lost when the country’s 5th largest cable provider came crashing down.

This is WQRM Regional News for Wednesday, May 18, 2005

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Ridgway based state police responded to a 1 vehicle accident along Route 219, 2 miles north of Route 948 in Ridgway Township. Their report states that Ernest Hampton, 22, of Ridgway was traveling north on Route 219 when he fell asleep before his 97 Dodge Intrepid entered a left curve. The vehicle then drifted onto the east berm when Hampton attempted to correct the problem. The car then crossed the northbound lane, entering the southbound lane and re-entering the northbound lane. At this time, the Hampton vehicle exited the roadway, struck a ditch and flipped onto its roof. Hampton was transported to elk Regional for treatment of his minor injuries. The operator was cited for careless driving and failing to wear a seatbelt.

Coudersport troopers are investigating a theft from Wagner Ace Hardware in Ulysses. Some time between Monday and Tuesday of this week, someone entered the store, removing cash from the area of the store’s office. Anyone with information is asked to contact Coudersport based state police at 274-8690.

DUI on Monday was the reason Coudersport troopers are charging 38 year old Joseph Cirko of Roulette. Cirko was stopped Monday afternoon in Roulette.

Coudersport based state police tell WQRM 21 year old Jason Becker of Galeton was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia Monday in Galeton.

And Coudersport based state police tell us they arrested Sean Easton, 37, of Genesee after he entered the residence of Emily Edwards and Heather Haring on Sunday. Easton was found to be intoxicated.

In other news, the next several weeks could see a decision in regard to contract negotiations between prison workers and McKean County. A meeting has already been held between both parties and the decision is now in the hands of an arbitrator.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet on area streets and highways according to our checks with state police barracks in the WQRM listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.

Disorderly conduct in Roulette on Saturday was investigated by troopers in Coudersport. They tell WQRM Dustin Mahon, 21, of Roulette and Donald Snyder III, 30, also a Roulette resident were involved in a physical altercation. Charges of disorderly conduct were filed against both individuals.

Theft from a Jelliff Auction on April 30th was investigated by troopers from Coudersport. Their report states that a known suspect took 4 items from the auction, valued at $150.00.

And Coudersport based state police tell us theft by unlawful taking between December 2nd of last year and May 8th remains under investigation by troopers in Coudersport. They tell us John Kearse told troopers that someone took 1-100 pound cylinder of propane from his camp. Anyone with information about this incident should contact troopers.

In a decision Monday, the US Transportation Security Administration reversed the no lighter ban for lighters. Leaving the ban in place could have cut into Zippo’s profits by as much as 30%, according to reports.

St. Marys City Manager has been authorized by the city council to issue a check in the amount of $100,000 to be given to St. Marys City police Chief Gary Eckert and his attorney. The check is being cut in connection with Eckert’s firing in September of 2002.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend a one vehicle accident occurred yesterday morning around 2:30 along Rebo Hill Road in Jay township. Ridgway based state police tell WQRM Jeffery Vanzanten, 21, of Johnsonburg was traveling north when he failed to negotiate a sharp curve. His 2001 GMC Sonoma left the roadway and struck several trees and a pole owned by Ducom. Charges are being filed against Vanzanten. Neither Vantanten or his passenger, 22 year old St. Marys resident Jeffery Kronenwetter were wearing seatbelts. Charges for DUI and summary traffic violations have been filed against Vanzenten.

A 2 vehicle collision occurred Saturday in Kersey, according to our checks with state police in Ridgway. They tell us Rachelle Wolfe, 24, of St. Marys was stopped at the intersection of Route 948 and Skyline Drive. A 1995 Chevrolet 1500 driven by Dennis Rakieski of Ridgway was travelling north on 948. Both vehicles attempted entry into the intersection at the same time, resulting in the Rakieski vehicle making contact with the Wolfe vehicle. Charges are pending against Wolfe.

Trooper sin Ridgway are asking for your help in connection with a hit and run, which occurred Thursday in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart in St. Marys. A report issued states that a 2000 Buick Lesabre owned by James and Cynthia Kmetz of St. Marys was parked at Wal-Mart when an unknown vehicle struck the passenger side of the Kmetz car. Those involved then fled undetected. Anyone with information about this incident should contact troopers at 776-6136.

Emporium based state police report that an act of criminal mischief over the weekend occurred and was investigated by their barracks. According to their report, unknown persons drover over a mailbox owned by Clint Weekly of Emporium. Those involved then fled undetected.

Known juveniles were the actors involved in criminal mischief investigated by Emporium troopers yesterday. Those involved knocked over a mailbox owned by Chuck Ullman in addition to removing several Bradford Era paper boxes.

A 1 vehicle accident along Moore Hill Road was responded to by Emporium based state police on Friday. Their report states that around 2:45pm Catherine Lyon, 61, of Emporium was traveling east when she fell asleep at the wheel of her 89 Oldsmobile. Her car traveled across the roadway, striking an embankment, which caused the Lyon vehicle to roll onto its side and come to rest. Lyon sustained minor injuries and her car was towed from the scene.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was reportedly quiet on area streets and highways according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.

Ridgway based state police tell us they investigated a burglary recently. According to their report, the incident occurred some time between the 5th and yesterday along Route 948 in Kersey. Someone entered Martell Salvage. Once inside those involved broke into the safe, taking up to $200 in coins, cash and jewelry.

Coudersport based state police tell us Carol Kibbe, 41, of Genesee was cited in connection with disorderly conduct which was responded to by troopers on Wednesday. The incident involved Kibbe and Penny Potter, also a Genesee resident.

Burglary between April 24th and May 6th was investigated by troopers from Emporium based state police. Their report states that someone entered a camp owned by Gary Simpson, 53, of Elizabethtown. Those involved took a bag of turkey calls, according to troopers.

Theft between the 1st and the 6th in Gibson Township, Cameron County was investigated by troopers from Emporium. They states that someone took a splitting maul and some hamburgers from a camp owned by Richard Henry of State College.

Burglary between June of last year and last Wednesday remains under investigation by troopers in Emporium. They tell WQRM someone forced open a window and then entered a camp owned by Rhett Parham of Woodland Park, CO.

Emporium based state police tell us another burglary occurred. This one occurred between last Monday and Tuesday at the Cameron County Little League Field in Shippen Township. Those involved kicked in the door to one of the buildings, entered and removed various food items. The investigation continues and anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact troopers.

Rosanne Smoker of Thompsontown was the victim of a theft which occurred between April 23rd and May 7th. Emporium based state police tell WQRM the crime occurred as someone cut 2 locks and then proceeded to steal them. A window at the Smoker camp was also broken during the crime.

And Emporium based state police tell us a theft on Sunday at the Rick Cool residents was investigated by their barracks. The crime occurred as someone entered the residents through an unlocked front door. Once inside, those involved proceeded to take approximately $350.00.

The Port Allegany School district Music Department will present "Once On This Island" tonight and Saturday evening, beginning at 8:00pm in the High School auditorium. Tickets are on sale now at the high school office, in addition to being available the evening of the show.

The Stuart Family Singers will perform Sunday at 3:00pm at the Port Allegany United Methodist Church. Five members of the Maze family will present country gospel and old hymns of the church. The public is invited and refreshments will be served following the concert.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Ridgway based state police tell WQRM a crash occurred yesterday morning along Route 948 in Kersey, Fox Township, Elk County. Nancy Martini, 40, of St. Marys was reportedly traveling west in a Kia Sportage when she failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. Her vehicle then traveled off the roadway and through private property where it impacted a mailbox, road sign, a parked vehicle owned by Joseph Cook, a small tree and a wagon. Charges for not driving at a safe speed and careless driving were filed.

Kane troopers tell us the Kane Country Club was the victim of criminal mischief between 9:00pm Tuesday and 6:00am yesterday. Someone damaged several greens by driving over them and spinning out with a 4-wheeler. Anyone with information should contact Kane PSP.

Attempted burglary between April 17th and yesterday remains under investigation by troopers in Ridgway. Their report states that someone attempted entry into a camp owned by Andrew Pannelle. Those involved removed a backstop for a range during this crime. Those with information about this crime are asked to contact Ridgway PSP at 776-6136.

The 13th Annual World War II Model Show will be held in the Cameron County high School cafeteria, Monday from 6:00 - 8:00pm. The public is invited to stop by and see the display.

Charles Cole Memorial Hospital’s Long Term Care unit’s spring bazaar will be held today from 8:00am to 3:00pm. The bazaar will be in the link between the hospital and the Irwin Medical Arts Building.

Otto Township has set cleanup days for the week of June 13th. Fee is $30.00 per 1,000 pounds. An extra charge of $5.00 for appliances and a $3-$5 charge for tires. Payment must be made by June 9th.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet on area streets and highways according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.

Criminal mischief between Monday and Tuesday of this week remains under investigation by troopers from the Ridgway barracks. They tell WQRM someone struck a mailbox owned by Anne Cleer of Kane. Those involved then fled undetected. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact troopers.

Coudersport based state police tell WQRM a theft occurred between May 2nd and May 9th in Bingham Township. According to their report, approximately 18 gallons of off-road diesel was taken from the Caravelle Farms in Ulysses. Those with information about this theft should contact troopers.

Criminal mischief on Saturday was investigated by troopers from Coudersport. Inez Bull told troopers that someone damaged 2 flower planters and a window cover at the Ole Bull Museum.

An investigation into the theft of a gray 18x20 foot tarp from a cabin owned by Judy Althoff of New Oxford is continuing by troopers from Coudersport. Anyone with information should contact troopers.

And a burglary on April 30th is still under investigation by troopers in Coudersport. They tell WQRM Mike and Barbara Bowman of Middletown reported that someone entered their seasonal residence and removed various items, in addition to 5 radiators from vehicles n the property.

Smethport Police Chief Ryan Yingling is asking area residents to lock their car doors. Yingling stated that 3 vehicles were vandalized overnight Monday. Anyone with information about these incidences should contact Yingling or call 911.

During the annual awards banquet, Coudersport Area Chamber of Commerce presented Telcove the Business of the Year. Telcove, formerly known as Adelphia Business Solutions, has seen the fall of it’s former owner and the expansion of its own business, including an acquisition which has expanded their Coudersport presence.

Representative Martin Causer or one of his representatives will hold constituent hours Thursday, from 9 to 10 at the Emporium borough office, from 10:30 to 11:30 at the Port Allegany borough office and from 12:30 to 1:30 at the Eldred borough office.

And Senator Joe Scarnati will hold constituent hours Friday from 10 to 11 am at the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce. He’ll also hold constituent hours in Kane from 12:30 to 1:30 on Friday.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet on area streets and highways according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.

Ridgway based state police tell us charges are pending against 3 known Kane juveniles after a fire caused $50,000 in damage to a garage in Kane, which was owned by John Carlson. Smoke damage was also sustained by Judy’s Place, which was located next to the garage. 6 fire departments responded to the fire and the investigation continues.

And Ridgway troopers tell WQRM disorderly conduct on Monday left Beth Cameroni and Lynn Edington, both Force residences, charged in connection with an incident last evening when both were involved in a physical altercation.

A replacement for Tom Causer, former county commissioner, has been selected. In a statement released yesterday, President Judge john Cleland announced that the panel had selected Bruce Burdick. Burdick, a Mount Jewett resident brings with him a solid business background, according to Commissioner John Egbert.

During their Monday evening meeting, Port Allegany school board tentatively okayed the 2005-2006 at an increase of over $330,000.

And an agreement was signed by the Johnsonburg police department for a new patrol car. The car will cost the borough $20,000, to be paid in 2 annual payments of just over $10,489.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…Ridgway troopers tell us an accident occurred yesterday Friday morning along Route 255, Jay Township, Elk County. According to their report, Wendell Brooks, 23, of Chesapeake, VA was traveling south when a turkey flew into the path of the 2003 Infinity Sedan being operated by Brooks. Brooks received only minor injuries.

And Ridgway based state police tell us they investigated an incident of cruelty to animals after an incident on Saturday. Kenneth Sheasley of Ridgway reported that someone chased his guinea fowl, in addition to hitting them. Anyone with information should contact troopers.

Glenard Hodges, 64, of Upper Marlboro, MD was operating a 2000 Ford F-350 while Julius Toth, 42, of Vine Grove, KY was operating a 2005 Kenworth tractor trailer on Sunday. Both units were traveling south along Route 219 when the Toth truck was struck by a bag of onions. Toth applied his breaks, at which time Hodges was unable to stop in time. Neither operator was charged.

Friday saw Kane based state police respond to an accident along Route 46, north of Smethport. A report issued states that Stephania Bruno, 22, of Castanea was traveling south when her 99 Plymouth Breeze was struck by a deer. Bruno and a 1 year old passenger escaped injury.

Arson on Sunday in St. Marys is under investigation by troopers in Ridgway. They tell WQRM someone set a plastic garbage can containing trash on fire, which in turn spread to the nearby skate board ramp. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact St. Marys City police.

Charges are pending against Jason Sipe, 25, of Weedville after he as stopped by Ridgway based state police on Sunday. Troopers tell WQRM Sipe was found to be in possession of possible drug paraphernalia after an initial stop for an equipment violation.

And a men’s mountain bike was found by Ridgway based state police on Saturday. To claim the bike, which was found along Silver Creek Road, contact troopers.

Nearly 80 were evacuated from an apartment building in Kane early Sunday morning. Reports states that fire broke out around 8:00am at the Central Towers, where a toaster was to blame for the fire which called out 7 fire companies.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…A one vehicle accident yesterday evening in Ridgway Township was responded to by troopers there. They tell WQRM Carrie Tucker, 27, of Dagus Mines was operating a 2001 Harley-Davidson north along Route 948 when she lost control while negotiating a curve. The bike left the roadway and crashed when Tucker attempted to re-enter the roadway. Both Tucker and her passenger, 26 year old Clinton Tucker received injuries. The operator is also being cited for not being licensed to operate the bike, in addition to the bike not being registered or insured.

Harassment yesterday evening in Fox Township was investigated by troopers in Ridgway. They tell us Alan Mazzaferro was arrested for harassing his wife, Pamela Mazzaferro. The incident occurred after an argument turned physical and the accused pushed the victim.

Criminal mischief between Wednesday and Thursday remains under investigation by troopers in Ridgway. They tell us someone pushed a bench over an embankment and into the Clarion River along the rails to trails near the water treatment plant in Ridgway Township. Those who may have information about this incident can contact troopers or Elk County Crimestoppers.

Emporium based state police are continuing their investigation into a theft which occurred Tuesday. Gary Small of Emporium told troopers someone removed his cell phone from his mothers truck.

A theft from the Industrial Timber and Lumber Company in Ridgway remains under investigation by troopers in Ridgway. A report issued states a truck picked up a load on the 3rd at 10:30am. Yesterday, another driver arrived with paperwork for the load picked up on the 3rd. The company which ordered the load did not in fact schedule pick up of what was taken on the 3rd.

Theft by unlawful taking on Tuesday is still under investigation by troopers in Kane. They tell WQRM Frank Albney, 72, of Eldred told troopers someone took approximately 12, 4 inch by 12 foot metal field pipes from his residence. Anyone with information about this theft should contact troopers in Kane.

A crash on Monday was responded to by Kane based state police around 9:25am. According to their report, Laura Catalone, of Smethport, was traveling along Route 146 when she lost control of the 99 Toyota Tacoma she was operating. Her truck crossed a small grass berm before it impacted a tree. Catalone escaped with only minor injuries. She walked home and was then transported to the hospital for treatment.

Emporium based state police report that they stopped Robert Uber, 38, of Emporium on Saturday. Uber was stopped for a traffic violation when it was discovered he was also driving under the influence.

Theft on the 29th of April remains under investigation by troopers in Kane. According to their report, a deposit of over $163 was prepared by Crosby Mini-Mart employees in Lewis Run. Upon review of the bank statement it was discovered the money went missing.

And theft by unlawful taking between April 10th and May 4th is still under investigation by troopers at the Kane barracks. They tell WQRM Joseph Dumanski of Erie reported that someone took 40 4x8 sheets of plywood, 4 4x6 16 footers and 20 2x4 16 footers, totaling $900.00 from his camp. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers.

A half a dozen persons have shown interest in the seat given up by Tom Causer last week, outgoing McKean County Commissioner. In other news, 17 applications have been received for the opening of Director of Emergency Services.

And the Smethport Area youth Memorial Walk-a-thon is set for May 15th in Smethport. Registration is set to begin at 1:00pm, with the walk starting at 2pm. Donations will be accepted, but not required. Donations can be made by picking up a form at either of the school offices or the Smethport branch of Northwest Savings Bank.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a 2 vehicle accident yesterday afternoon in Galeton borough was responded to by troopers from the Coudersport based state police barracks. They tell us the accident occurred as a 2002 Dodge Neon, operated by 84 year old Jane Finch of Galeton, was traveling north on West Street in the borough. While attempting a left turn into the Galeton Plaza, the Finch vehicle struck a 2001 Dodge Neon driven by Galeton resident, 88 year old Maurice Delgrosso. Finch and Teresa Delgrosso, a passenger in the Delgrosso vehicle, were both taken to Charles Cole for treatment of their injuries. Finch was cited in regard to turning left.

And DUI was the reason for an incident yesterday morning in Pike Township, Potter County as Michael Dunlavey, 42, of Galeton was observed by Coudersport based state police operating his vehicle under the influence. Charges were filed.

A strike was averted by the PAEA and Port Allegany School Board, by last minute negotiations which ended in the early hours of Tuesday. With over 7 hours involved in the latest meeting, according to reports, a tentative agreement was reached according to PAEA officer Tracy Kio.

And due to increased competition, Castle Cinema in Allegany closed their doors for good. The Bordanero family, which owned the cinema, stated that there was no pressure from the land owner to close. The land is owned by St. Bonaventure University.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was reportedly quiet on area streets and highways according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.

Ridgway based state police tell us burglary yesterday in Ridgway Township remains under investigation by their barracks. Someone entered the residence of Dorothy Wickwire, by means of an unlocked door. Once inside, those involved took the victim’s purse, discarding the contents along West Main Street. $300.00 was also removed from the purse. Anyone with information about this burglary is asked to contact trooper or Elk County Crimestoppers.

Criminal mischief between Monday and yesterday remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police. They tell WQRM someone damaged a mailbox owned by Bessie Yoder of Austin. During the act, the red flag was bent downward. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact troopers.

Indecent assault charges are pending against a known person after an act of indecent assault against a known female juvenile. According to Ridgway based state police who investigated, the incident occurred Saturday, April 30th.

During their Tuesday evening meeting, Elk County Commissioners designated EMS Director Mike McAllistern as an agent for obtaining assistance pertaining to the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. The next meeting is set for 10:00am, May 16th in the courthouse annex.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Coudersport based state police tell us Daniel Skinner, 27, of Roulette made a right turn off Route 155, 2 miles south of Route 6 yesterday afternoon around 1:00pm. While proceeding across a set of railroad tracks, the log truck operated by Skinner was impacted by a train, operated by 34 year old William Nuttle of East Aurora, NY. Nuttle claimed he didn’t see the log truck, therefore he took for corrective action to avoid impact. The log truck was pushed approximately 200 feet before coming to rest. Skinner was flown to Sayre Hospital for treatment of his severe injuries.

Criminal mischief between April 25th and yesterday morning in West Branch Township, Potter County remains under investigation by troopers from the Coudersport barracks. They tell WQRM someone shot 3 speed limit signs. The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact troopers in Coudersport.

Another act of criminal mischief in West Branch Township remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police. They tell us a total of 5 signs were shot by someone. Someone also ran over several signs during this crime. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers.

Ridgway troopers have cited Bobby Carlson of Kane with a traffic violation after they stopped the accused while traveling Route 321, in Jones Township on April 30th. Carlson was also found to be under the influence.

And theft in Ulysses Borough between April 22nd and the 25th remains under investigation by troopers from Coudersport. They tell us that signs for the political office Lisa Burton is running for that were previously mentioned as missing several days ago were actually taken down by the property owners for personal reasons. However, other signs through Potter County went missing and the investigation into those cases remains under investigation.

During their Monday evening meeting, Mount Jewett borough council accepted the resignation of Connie Packard. Packard served the borough as secretary for over 10 years, according to Wil Antrim, Council President.

A bid by foster Brook Glass and Mirror was accepted by Foster Township for replacement of the Township’s municipal building. 14 windows will be replaced at a cost of $5,450.

And the next Lafayette Township Planning Commission meeting is set for this evening at 7:00pm at the municipal building.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…Kane based state police tell WQRM a 1 vehicle accident occurred yesterday morning around 230am as Steven Hollobaugh of Kane was traveling north on Route 321 in Wetmore Township. Hollobaugh fell asleep at the wheel of the 2005 Ford Taurus he was operating. He swerved his vehicle after it entered the east berm. The car then entered the west berm before re-entering the east berm. Hollobaugh’s car then continued off the roadway where it impacted an embankment with the undercarriage. At this time the car slid sideways over the embankment, struck a culvert and rotated counterclockwise before coming to rest against the culvert. Hollobaugh was transported to Kane Community Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.

Ridgway troopers responded to an accident along Glen Hazel road in Jones township on Sunday around 2:30am. Travis O’Connor, 22, of Johnsonburg was reportedly traveling south when his 95 Pontiac Grand Prix left the west side of the roadway and struck the guiderail. The car then traveled along the guiderail for approximately 100 feet before it struck a 2000 Jeep Wrangler owned by Paul Schwabenbauer of St. Marys. This in turn pushed the Schwabenbauer vehicle into a 95 Sunline Solaris Camper Trailer owned by Susan Erich of St. Marys. Charges are pending against Scwabenbauer for careless driving in addition to other offenses.

A DUI related accident yesterday morning, shortly after midnight, in Fox township was responded to by Ridgway troopers who tell WQRM Lucy Kopp, 49, of St. Marys was stopped for numerous traffic violations near the intersection of Routes 948 and 255. DUI and related charges were filed.

Kane based state police responded to an accident along Route 446 in Eldred Township yesterday morning. A report issued states that Tyler Nolan, 20, of Shinglehouse was traveling north when he fell asleep before his 87 BMW hit the guiderail after taking a right curve in the roadway. The BMW continued another 150 feet before coming to rest. Nolan was wearing his seatbelt and received no injures.

According to Ridgway based state police, retail theft at Wal-Mart on Friday was investigated by their barracks. According to the release issued, Anita Imbrongo, 37, of St. Marys was observed taking a DVD from its original package and placing it in her purse before attempting an exit from the store. She was subsequently apprehended.

Simple assault yesterday morning in Ridgway Township was responded to by Ridgway based state police who tell WQRM James Bloom, 22, of Ridgway was taken into custody after a second incident in which he engaged in a physical altercation with the victim, Shannon Candalor, 26, of Ridgway. The victim called after a second incident occurred later in the day. Bloom was taken into custody with bail set at $10,000.

Fern Musisko of Kersey was the victim of an assault and harassment which occurred Saturday. Ridgway based state police tell us Robert Bellotti, also a Kersey resident, pushed Musisko several times, in addition to spraying shaving cream on the victim’s face and in her eyes. Charges are pending.

Coudersport based state police tell WQRM Gary Fessenden of Roulette was the victim of a reported theft which occurred between Saturday and yesterday throughout Roulette. A person or person took campaign posters which were located throughout the village. Those with information about this theft should contact troopers.

Theft by unlawful taking in Wilcox remains under investigation by Ridgway based state police. Frank Milliard, 32, of Wilcox told troopers his noticed two books of checks missing from his residence. The incident occurred between January 15th and April 30th of this year. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers or Elk county Crimestoppers.

Theft at Moe’s Bar in Port Allegany was investigated by Kane PSP on Friday. According to their report, Darian Dunsing of Port Allegany took a vehicle owned by Robert Mellett while it was parted at the bar Friday morning. Densing took the vehicle, heading toward Route 46 by way of route 6. After wrecking the vehicle the accused fled on foot before stealing a second car, which he drove until he rammed the rear of patrol car and landed in a ditch. Dunsing was taken into custody and remanded to the McKean County jail on $20,000 bail.

And criminal mischief, which occurred between April 17th and yesterday remains under investigation by troopers from the Kane barracks. They tell us someone broke a window at a camp owned by Anthony Mastrano of north Cambria. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers.

And the Smethport Chamber of Commerce will meet Wednesday at 8:00am at the Smethport Senior Center.
