On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday… An accident along Route 346 in Corydon Township was responded to by Kane troopers last evening.  James Kemick Jr of Bradford was traveling west on a 2002 Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom.  Traveling at a high rate of speed, Kemick lost control, sending the bike across the east bound lane, onto the south berm and into a bridge.  The bike then continued west before entering a yard where it rolled several times and ejected Kemick, leaving the operator with minor injuries.  Kemick will be charged by state police with not driving at a safe speed.

A known 55 year old Kersey resident was found to be DUI in Kersey just before 1:00am yesterday.  State police from the Ridgway barracks have charges pending against the individual.

Coudersport based state police are investigating an incident where someone used a dozer belonging to Edwin Knecht Jr of Lock Haven between May 26th and yesterday.  The dozer was reportedly used to  grade about a 250 yard section of Road leading to the Potter Recreation Center in West Branch Township .  Those with additional information can contact state police.

Burglary at the Jeffery Wonderly residence in Wilcox occurred between 2:00 and 3:30pm on Tuesday as someone attempted entry by prying on a locked door knob.  The investigation continues by Ridgway PSP.

Public drunkenness by a Kersey man Monday left Paul Flynn, 53 in trouble with Ridgway PSP after he was found to be walking along Taylor and Main streets in Kersey Monday evening.

A Roulette man was arrested and charged with DUI after Coudersport troopers stopped Raphael Eckert Jr, 41, along Reed Run Road Sunday morning.

The Ride of Pride will escort the Vietnam Moving Wall into Smethport today from the Marienville area.  Bikers will line up in the area of Byromtown Road , 5.5 miles north of Marienville.  Bikers are asked to like up by 11:15 .  Following a blessing, the ride will leave around 11:45 .  The Wall will be on the peninsula at Hamlin Lake Park from tomorrow through Monday.  Keep it here on WQRM for mini features with Bud Rosenswie later this morning.

The former President of Rustick LLC, owner of the former Hutchins Landfill, is suing Rustick LLC for alleged fraud by officials while in the midst of the landfill.  Maria Casey was removed as President by phone vote by those she’s got a suit against, including Dick Welsh, Michael Figge and Richard Godshall.

A Heathrow, FL cable company is suing Time Warner and Comcast for what is described as antitrust and monopolization of the cable industry.  The America Channel would offer much of the programming the Comcast and Time Warner already offer their customers.  Therefore eliminating an competition should TAC not be permitted to broadcast on either system.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Coudersport based state police responded to an accident at the Old Tannery Inn on Costello Road in Austin yesterday morning.  Just before 2:30am state police arrived to learn a patron of the bar struck a sign in the parking lot.  The driver then continued south on Route 872.  The investigation continues.

Criminal trespass at the Curwensville Bank is being investigated by Ridgway PSP after unknown persons entered the building by breaking a window on the front door on Monday.  Two additional windows were also broken during the incident.

Harassment at the Denise Geci residence in Austin was responded to by Coudersport based state police Sunday.  During the incident Denise Geci subjected Karen Gaines, 28, of Emporium to unwanted physical contact.  Charges were filed.

Criminal mischief on Saturday or Sunday on South Branch Road in Hebron Township occurred as someone damaged one van and three junked vehicles belonging to Raymond Nagel of Coudersport.  According to PSP, stones were used to break the windshields.

Aggravated assault has an Eldred man in trouble and wanted by state police.  Kane based state police tell us they are searching for 45 year old Brian Miller after he reportedly fired shotsat a 13 year old female along with Joanna Calkins of Eldred.  Charges were filed.

Smethport resident Joshua Vangorder has been charged by Kane based state police for possession after an incident Saturday at the Pensy Pond in Seargant Township.  While investigating PSP found the accused had assaulted Crystal Pribesh and Kimberly Conn, both Smethport residents.

Criminal charges are pending against a known male after Kane troopers found the youth to be in possession of a possible controlled substance on Friday along Route 155, south of Port Allegany.

A known female is being investigated after an incident last Friday when they person assaulted Joseph Reagle, 51, of Bolivar.  Kane based state police are investigating.

A Smethport man’s car windshield was smashed by an unknown person Friday as it was parked in front of Robert Madley’s residence along Route 46 South.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…Bradford teen 19 year old Zachary Weart was traveling south in a 1993 Chevrolet Lumina early yesterday morning along Route 321 in Lafayette Township when he lost control of the car while negotiating a curve.  Weart’s car struck several large rocks along the left hand curve.  State police from Kane determined Weart was DUI.  He was charged with the same and arraigned.  Waert received minor injuries as a result of the accident.

A 2 vehicle accident along Route 46, at the entrance to the Cameron County Fairgrounds in Shippen township occurred Saturday evening, shortly before midnight .  State police from the Emporium barracks responded to the accident after 37 year old Russell Barnhart of Emporium backed his 1991 ford Escort onto Route 46 and into the past of Clara Burgoon, 23, also from Emporium.  Burgoon struck Barnhart’s 1992 Toyota Carolla on the driver’s side before the Burgoon vehicle traveled down a private driveway of the Fairgrounds.  Barnhart received minor injuries and will be charged by state police.

Smethport teen, 18 year old Kyle Field, was injured in an accident along Route 6, ½ mile west of Brooklynside Road in Port Allegany on Saturday.  Kane PSP tell WQRM Field was operating a 1992 Chevrolet S-10 when he went through the guiderail and over an embankment, overturning the truck.  Field was transported to Charles Cole for treatment.  Filed was found to be DUI and charges have been filed.

An 8 year old from Ohio was moderately injured while riding an ATV Saturday along the Timberline ATV Trail near Russell City in Highland Township , Elk County .  Ridgway based state police state that youth was operating a 2003 Polaris 90cc  when he struck a tree.  The juvenile’s father has been charged with allowing an 8 year old to operate an ATV without the proper training.

An accident along Route 219, 1.5 miles south of Lewis Run Borough left a Ridgway resident uninjured after Kathleen Thomas was operating a 2000 Buick Century.  While negotiating a curve, the car began to slide before leaving Route 219 and hitting a tree.  Thomas was cited by Kane troopers for driving at a save speed.

Harassment in the parking lot of the Roulette Firehall occurred and was investigated by Coudersport based state police yesterday morning around 2:00am .  The report issued states that Bardley Lannager, 45, of Roulette was cited for punching Frances Ayers, 26, of Coudersport.

A Smethport couple were involved in an argument Saturday morning just before 2:00am when the accused, Frank Hudak, 31, reportedly struck the victim, 29 year old Deanna Hudak.  The accused was arrested, preliminarily arraigned and jailed on $5,000.00 after failing to post bail.

A known person was involved in an argument with Troy Renner of Port Allegany Saturday morning.  Kane PSP state that Renner and the known person had a verbal argument, which turned physical when the suspect struck Renner with a baseball bat.  The investigation continues and Renner was taken to Charles Cole with unknown injuries.

And burglary at the Ox Yoke Inn in Pike Township is being investigated by Coudersport based state police after the incident occurred Friday between midnight and 6:30am .  An actor or actors forced their way in to the establishment through a basement door.  Once inside, an undisclosed amount of money and alcohol was removed.  Those with additional information are asked to contact state police.

 

This is WQRM Regional News for Friday, May 26, 2006

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a 2 vehicle accident occurred last evening around 7:30pm on Route 255 at the intersection of 255 and Linewood Road in Fox Township .  Ridgway based state police tell WQRM a 17 year old female was stopped in a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire while 22 year old Ashley Maletto of Kersey was southbound in the passing lane of Route 255 in a 1998 Ford Escort.  Maletto struck the rear of the other vehicle before traveling 50 feet and coming to rest.  The other vehicle traveled approximately another 140 feet before coming to rest.  Charges are pending against Maletto for not driving at a safe speed, in addition to other charges.  Maletto received minor injuries and the other driver received moderate injuries.

Harassment by an Otto Township man against another Otto Township man occurred Wednesday.  Kane based state police investigated the incident where Guy Eastman, 57 was yelling at Raymond Neureiter, 32 when he also threatened Neureiter.

Burglary in Harrison Valley on Tuesday or Wednesday is under investigation by Coudersport PSP.  Reportedly, someone gained entry into barns located on Fox Hill Road .  Once inside Holstein calves belonging to Thomas Kibbe and Calvin McCutcheon were removed.  Those with additional information about this incident can contact Coudersport based state police.

Theft from property owned by William Vanetten of Harrison Valley occurred on the 10th according to Coudersport troopers who are continuing their investigation.  Someone entered a barn on Whites Corners Road, removing a brown and black Holstein cow from the victim’s pasture.  Those with details are asked to contact PSP.

And Luann Matteson, 51, of Roulette was charged with theft after the accused took approximately $3,000.00 from a checking account belonging to Christina Bowser of Roulette.  Matteson was arraigned and sent to jail with bail set at $2,5000.00 unsecured.

Favorite shows of those living in the Bradford area will cost more beginning next month.  Atlantic Broadband is raising their rates for limited, value and digital services, with notices already going out.  Affected customers live in Bradford , Lewis Run Borough and Foster and Lafayette Townships .  Rates were last increased for these customers 2 years ago.  In our listening area, rate increases will also take place in the Warren and Salamanca systems.

Those served by Allegheny Power can expect a new bill format effective next week.  One of the changes includes a new line-up of customer information, making it easier to find.  Usage information will also still be available.

After the shooting a week ago in Salamanca , school district officials are questioning safety in the district.  Following the shooting at St. Patrick’s Parish, where the alternative high school and head start are, a lockdown was initiated and students were eventually bussed home using an entrance opposite the side of the school where the shots were fired.

Representative John Peterson made the announcement yesterday that $100,000 will be spend on the East Branch Clarion River Lake in Elk County .  Dollars will be spend on the electrical system for camping, in addition to the addition of a new registration area and camping entrance.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in our listening area.  There were no related incidences to report either.

Simple assault against a known 11 year old Monday is being investigated by Ridgway based state police after a known 14 year old reportedly put the victim into a headlock, causing the teen to lose consciousness.

And arson in Lewis Run Sunday is being investigated by Kane PSP after someone set fire to a home owned by Jamie Macias of Lewis Run.  There were no injuries.

Approximately 200 of Adelphia’s Coudersport workforce will be staying upon the take-over of Adelphia by Time Warner this summer.  As of now, less than 300 of the current Coudersport employees may lose their jobs.  The take-over of Adelphia by Time Warner and Comcast may come as early as the end of July.  Adelphia’s remaining Coudersport workforce will be employed by Time Warner.  Much of the saved jobs in nearby Potter County are in Customer Care and the high speed internet services division.

Once one of the larger ways of receiving recycled cullet, recycling of glass in McKean County will return following a partnership between Port Allegany’s Saint Gobain Container Corporation along with Rustick LLC, the owner of the former county landfill and RecycALL.  Upon the takeover of the landfill by Rustick, recycling of glass was suspended as pieces could cut the lining of the cells at the landfill.  According to  County Commissioner John Egbert, the county plans to have a Recycling Coordinator hired by the beginning of July.

Those interested in the purchase of a park in nearby Olean can contact the mayor’s office.  Mayor David Carucci would like to see Gargoyle Park sold, as the land is a loss to the city each time its rented.  The land is taxed as it actually sits in the town of Allegany .  Gargoyle Park was given to the City of Olean in the 1950’s by the Sacony Vacuum Company.

Closed just months ago, the Lantz Corners location of the former 84 Lumber store will be purchased by East Resources Inc.  East Resources has over 100 employees in McKean and Forest Counties in their well development program.

A child safety seat check will be conducted by the barracks of the PA State Police in Kane May 30th from Noon to 3:00pm .  The check will be held at the Mount Jewett Firehall on Main Street .

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a one vehicle accident in the parking lot of Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport was responded to by state police from the Coudersport barracks around 1:00pm .  Ronald Gooley, 49, of Port Allegany was about to enter the parking lot when his gloves got stuck on the throttle of his 1998 Suzuki 800 causing the bike to strike the curb and then the hospital.  Gooley received only a minor leg injury.

Manny Senna of Coudersport was the victim of a reported harassment occurring yesterday afternoon.  State police from the barracks in Coudersport tell WQRM Edward Stevens, 59, of Ulysses became angry during a conversation involving washer fluid.  Stevens reportedly grabbed Senna after Stevens was asked to leave the property.  Harassment charges were filed.

Criminal mischief on Friday in Abbott Township is being investigated.  Coudersport based state police are investigating the incident where someone pushed over a small wood sided shed on property owned by the Galeton School District .  The shed was then pushed down a small embankment.

The burn ban in McKean County has been lifted following several wildfires across our area.  A ban in the ANF was lifted earlier this week.

With only two “nay” votes, supporters received backing from the Port Allegany School Board to add soccer and cross-country to the list on extra-curricular activities.  Previously, cross-country was possible through an arrangement with Smethport.  Superintendent Tony Flint stated that the additional funding needed for coaches for cross-country and soccer won’t break the bank.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…An accident jus hours ago in Elk County was responded to by Ridgway based state police.  Brockway resident 54 year old Richard Moore was traveling north on Route 219 when a deer entered the roadway.  Moore, who was wearing his seatbelt, received on injuries.

An Eldred woman is in trouble with state police after Denise Windsor, 29, was involved in an argument with Matthew Windsor, 38, also of Eldred.  Kane based state police tell WQRM the incident occurred Monday along Edson Street when Denise Windsor struck Matthew Windsor in the eye, in addition to tearing his shirt.  Charges for harassment and disorderly conduct were filed.

Harassment was also investigated yesterday by Emporium troopers.  Eighteen year old Kayla Whiting of Emporium may be charged with harassment after she struck and pushed Theresa Asti also of Emporium.

An incident along Tannery Heights Road in Shippen Township was investigated by Emporium PSP after Thomas Farren Jr. of Emporium was involved in an argument with 28 year old Debra Smith, also an Emporium resident.  State police state that the argument became physical and Farren was charged.

Criminal mischief on Sunday or Monday is under investigation by Coudersport based state police after someone spun their vehicle’s tires on property owned by Joseph Martin of Millersville.  Those with information on this incident can contact Coudersport based state police.

A Corydon Township home along Route 59 was a loss, to the tune of approximately $100,000.  Fire broke out around 8:30am Monday at the dwelling owned by Bruce and Jeanette Burkness, which was ruled arson.  Only one firefighter from Corydon Township was hurt.  That individual was taken to BRMC for smoke inhalation.

Fugitive Ralph Philips, who escaped from the New York Correctional Facility in Alden is said to be back in the Erie County area.  No actual sightings of the fugitive who escaped in early April have occurred recently.  No further details on Philips are available at this time.

And Town-wide garage sales are set for Saturday in Bradford .  The 4th Annual event begins at 9:00am .

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…DUI was the reason for an accident in Wetmore Township this morning, shortly after midnight.  Kane based state police state that Bradley Lundberg, 21, of Kane was operating a 2000 Ford Contour Sedan eastbound on Old Mill Road when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign.  Traveling too fast on Highland Road, Lundberg traveled into a culvert on the east side of the roadway where his car overturned and came to rest on its roof.  Only one of Lundberg’s 3 passengers, Dusti Menteer of Kane, was injured.  Cecil Miller, who was the only occupant using a seatbelt, and Ronald Lucore escaped injury.

A hit and run occurring Saturday along Sunnyside Road in Sharon Township, Potter County is still under investigation.  Coudersport based state police tell WQRM between midnight and 7:45am Saturday someone crossed the southbound lane striking 2 mailboxes belonging to two Shinglehouse residents, Leo Carpenter and Scott Ketcham.  Those with additional details are asked to contact PSP Coudersport.

Criminal mischief on Saturday or Sunday remains under investigation by Coudersport PSP after someone damaged side-view mirrors on vehicle belonging to Bruce Fink, Michael Lewis and Cindy Capatch all of Northwest Street, along with one on a vehicle belonging to Charles Trowbridge of Franlklinville, NY.  The incident occurred while all vehicles were parked at 713 Northwest Street in Coudersport.

Harassment Saturday in Caledonia left a known male charged with the same after reportedly grabbing a 14 year old male by the arm and the suspect drove past the victim on an ATV Saturday afternoon.

A known person or persons will not be charged after an incident Saturday in Hebron Township when the persons involved took firewood from Rlee Van Pelt of Whitney Creek Road.  Coudersport based state police investigated.

Harassment charges were filed against two known persons after Richard Rees, 36, of Kersey and 28 year old Concetta Aiello of Johnsonburg were involved in an argument Saturday when both individuals grabbed each other.  The investigation continues.  Those with additional details is asked to contact PSP.

A Coudersport woman has been charged with simple assault after an incident Friday in Coudersport.  State police there state that Holly Duell, 27, endangered a known juvenile, in addition to harassing the person.

Theft Friday in Mount Jewett is being investigated by Kane PSP after someone removed $120 in 20’s from the residence of Christopher Paar.  Those with additional details are asked to contact state police.

Burglary in Cameron County between May 7th and the 19th remains under investigation after someone broke a rear door of the Jolly Acres camp owned by George Frederick of Strongstown, PA.  Various items were removed before those involved fled the scene, according to Emporium troopers.

And harassment in Shippen Township between April 27th and last Thursday occurred and is under investigation after a known victim received numerous hang up calls.

Looking for a place to stay?  The historic Dudley Inn in Salamanca is going up for sale during auction the end of this month.  Current owner, Sandy Abrams, bought the facility in 2000 with Donald Hill, Western Door Development CEO.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in Kane, Emporium, Coudersport and Ridgway.  There were no related incidences to report either.

Burglary in Austin occurred and is under investigation.  Coudersport based state police tell WQRM someone entered to pool hall on the 17th or 18th through an apartment before prying open a door to the game room.  Once inside, those involved removed candy and approximately $175.00 from various locations.  Those involved also damaged pool tables and a computer game.  Those with additional details are asked to contact state police in Coudersport.

Theft from the Herbert Cooper Company in Genesee occurred and is being investigated.  Coudersport based state police state that some time on Wednesday or Thursday an actor or actors removed 15 wooden skids from the Herbert Cooper Company parking lot.

Harassment by a known person against a known juvenile in Sylvan Heights, Shippen township, Cameron County is being investigated by Emporium PSP after harassing e-mails were sent by the actor.

And Coudersport based state police tell us they have a large quantity of power tools, which were dumped over an embankment in the Genesee Township area back in October of last year.  For more information contact Coudersport PSP.

No one was injured in an incident in Salamanca Wednesday when several shots were fired into the Salamanca Alternative Education School.  City police state shots were heard around 1:00pm and they believe the shots may have originated from a nearby home just feet away.  Those with additional information about this incident are asked to contact Salamanca City police.

A Jones Memorial Hospital staff member has been suspended after failing to file papers and for possible misuse of drugs.  Specializing in internal medicine, Dr. David Graham had been with JMH for nearly 30 years, in addition to having his own practice.  As many as 5,000 patients may be looking elsewhere should Graham lose his license and be forced to close his practice.  Those looking for a new doctor can call Jones Memorial Hospital’s referral line.

Two local colleges have inked an agreement.  Jamestown Community College and UPB’s Bradford Campus have reached an agreement where JCC students are able to participate in the sports and recreation programs at UPB.  Those attending JCC need to hold a 2.5 or better GPA and have at least 60 credits in the approved courses.  Over a dozen other agreements have been reached between both schools for other programs.

A AAA report has Bradford gas prices as being the highest in the western end of the state.  The price is nearly $2.97, while those in other nearby areas pay as little as $2.90.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a Kane man was moderately injured in an accident along Route 321, 1.7 miles north of Route 219.  Kane based state police tell WQRM Timothy Dyne, 34, was pulling onto Route 321 in a 2002 Dodge Stratus when  he lost control of the car, sending the Stratus off the roadway and into a wooded area where it struck a tree and disabled the vehicle.

Simple assault against a Harrison Valley woman occurred Tuesday there, according to Coudersport based state police.  During an argument with Benjamin Post, 21, also of Harrison Valley, the incident between the husband and wife became physical and Post struck Angel Kinchen, 23, in the face in addition to grabbing her left hand and twisting her fingers.  State police charged Post with simple assault and harassment, arraigned him and sent him to the county jail with bail set at $500.

A burn ban set in McKean County several days ago may be lifted Tuesday.  Following the questioning of fire chiefs in the county, John Egbert, County Commissioner Chairman, stated that ban may be lifted during the next commissioners meeting.

Ridgway residents can expect a rise in their water rates.  Council, during their meeting Monday set in motion, the rise in rates with a hike date not given.  The change is being made following the word that Allegheny Color Corporation will close.  The average customer may see their rate go up as much as $9.00.

And St. Marys City Council agreed during their Monday evening meeting to disband the Downtown Blueprint Committee.  It’s not immediately clear what the group was actually used for.

Otto Township C of C spend time during their Wednesday meeting discussing community involvement and their role in different organizations’ plans.  Discussions were had regarding the park and the purchase of newer equipment.  President Mike Miller and the Chamber discussed Spring Flings success

Senator Joe Scarnati will hold constituent hours today for Lewis Run residents from 10:00am to 11:00am at the borough office.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…according to our checks with state police, there were no incidences to report.

State police in Coudersport tell us a burglary in Roulette on Monday or Tuesday is being investigated by their barracks.  Someone time over that period, someone illegally entered the home of James Bruzzi, 31, of Roulette, removing prescription medication.  Those with details are asked to contact state police.

Criminal mischief between Friday of last week and Monday of this week remains under investigation.  Coudersport PSP state that someone smashed the front windshield of a 1983 John Deere 672A grader owned by Abbott Township .  Damage is estimated at $625 and anyone with details about the incident is asked to contact state police.

An Ohio man is in trouble with Kane state police after Todd Smith of Youngstown was cited for firing several shots in the Tohey Lane area of Hamilton Township yesterday.  Charges of disorderly conduct were filed.

Criminal trespass between late October 2005 and this past Monday occurred as someone entered a home owned by Victoria Nenno of Roulette.  The report issued states that cigarette butts and candy wrappers were left behind.

An Eldred man is in trouble with the law after Robert Cooper, 31, was arrested and charged in connection with an alleged incident of rape with a 15 year old female in early April.  No additional details were released.

Theft from a Mount Jewett woman’s vehicle is under investigation by Kane troopers after someone entered a vehicle owned by Susan Lee.  Taken was $614.00.  Those with additional information on this incident can contact troopers in Kane.

Bad check writing by a known male to the Fox Township Fireman’s Club was investigated by Ridgway state police.

The former Bradford Electronics property along High Street is one step closer to being compliant with the Land Recycling and Environmental Remediation Standards Act.  Don Cummins, Cummins Brothers Construction President, owns the property and plans to lease the former BE property.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Kane based state police responded to an accident along Bingham Road in Lafayette Township yesterday afternoon, just before 3:00pm .  The accident occurred as Michael Miller, 33, of Duke Center was operating a 2000 Toyota Tacoma northbound.  While Tina Smith, 42, of Cyclone was emerging from a private driveway into the northbound lane of Bingham Road in a 2002 Ford Escape, she was struck by Miller’s truck.  Smith was cited for entering or crossing roadways.  No injuries were reported.

An accident along SR2007, Fox Township , occurred last evening just before 7:30 .  Ridgway based state police who responded tell WQRM a known 16 year old Ridgway teen was operating a 2002 dodge Intrepid southbound when they lost control on a curve.  The car traveled off the east side of the roadway and struck an embankment.  The driver escaped injury while a 13 year old passenger received minor injury.

A Emporium man received minor injury in an accident Monday afternoon around 5:30 .  State police state that 19 year old Derrick Gribble was operating a 1992 Chevy S-10 eastbound on Pine Tree Road when he attempted to avoid a deer in the roadway, only to travel onto the north berm and roll the truck.  Gribble refused treatment by Emporium EMS.

Charges are pending against a 17 year old male after he was found by Ridgway based PSP operating an ATV along Long Level Road in Jones Township on Saturday.  The teen will be cited in connection with operating an unregistered ATV, which was also uninsured.

Coudersport based state police responded to the Ronald Whitney residence yesterday to find the victim had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  Whitney was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Ken Wingo at 8:00am .

Harassment by an unknown person toward William house of Austin occurred Sunday morning.  Coudersport PSP tell WQRM someone pushed House as he was assisting the Austin Fire Department at the scene of a motor vehicle accident along Route 872.  Those with additional information are asked to contact state police.

And harassment at Adelphoi Village in Harrison Township Sunday left a 16 year old juvenile being cited for striking George Brown, 53, of Mills twice in the face area, breaking the victim’s glasses.

Criminal mischief toward a Smethport business’ equipment was investigated by Ridgway troopers after someone caused $500.00 in damages to a Champion Road Grader belonging to Roy Duffy Trucking.

Bids for the expansion/renovation work the Seneca Highlands Area Vocational-Technical School could be opened in as little as 8 to 10 weeks.  The facility, built in the late 1970’s, would be brought up to code along with additions being added for additional courses.

A unanimous vote by city council Monday will see a home meet the wrecking ball in St. Marys.  The dwelling, owned by Carol and William Frey, has been deteriorating since 2004 when code enforcement officer Matt Young cited the couple for the home’s conditions.  Young stated that over the past 2 years conditions have slid so much that it would cost more than 50% of the home’s value to repair the dwelling.  The latest inspection was done nearly 2 weeks ago.  The Frey’s will have the chance to appeal the decision in court before the home is torn down.

In the on-going battle between Priority Care Ambulance and several municipalities, Lewis Run Borough became the first to be dropped from the lawsuit.  A meeting is to be held by Brian Gustafson, Priority Care’s owner, and Lafayette Township in the near future regarding their stand on things, with the possibility they may also be dropped from the suit, pending the outcome of the talks.

And a work session for the Vietnam Moving Wall will be held in Smethport this evening at 6:00pm.  Those helping are asked to bring shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows if you have them.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…numerous accidents in our listening area occurred over the weekend according to state police.

DUI left a Port Allegany man in trouble with Coudersport troopers Sunday after 21 year old Daniel Fierro was in an accident at Shummaker’s Inn in Austin around 2:30am .  State police tell WQRM Fierro was negotiating a curve when he veered of the roadway, striking a 2006 Ford F-150 owned by Scott Harper of Aiken , SC and a 1999 Ford Ranger owned by Dennis Cooney of Austin .  Fierro then continued along Route 872 where he hit a tree at the intersection with Stiner Street .  Feirro was partially ejected according to PSP.  State police tell us Fierro was taken to Charles Cole before being taken to Altoona .  Charges will be filed.

Mark Papa, 28, of Ridgway was severely injured in an accident Sunday morning along Route 949, spring Creek Township , Elk county.  Ridgway PSP tell us Papa was traveling north when his 2000 Volkswagen Passat left the roadway, entered the east berm, traveled down an embankment and struck a tree.  The vehicle then continued along a ditch, re-entered the highway and crossed both lanes of traffic before coming to rest in the southbound lane.  Papa was eventually flown to Altoona , according to state police.  Reports state that Papa was driving too fast for conditions.  The investigation continues.

DUI has a Shinglehouse man in trouble after Tyler Salada, 20, swerved to miss a deer, only to have his vehicle leave the roadway and hit loose gravel Saturday morning.  Attempting to regain control, Salada crossed both lanes of travel, striking an embankment before his vehicle rolled.

Two Johnsonburg residents escaped injury in a two vehicle accident Saturday along SR 4007.  Ridgway PSP tell us Edward Potts, 32, was traveling eastbound while Louis Robuck Jr., 53 was traveling west.  The wheels on Potts’ 1988 International Tractor Trailer came off, striking Robuck’s 1999 Ford F-150.  Neither driver was injured.

DUI by a Bradford man has him in trouble after 58 year old John Hrin Jr. stopped two state police officers Sunday along West Washington Avenue to make a complaint.  Hrin, being visibly intoxicated, was arrested around 12:49am .

And Christopher Wallin, 46, of Kane was parked along Route 219 when state police stopped to check on the driver.  Wallin was found to be DUI and subsequently arrested.

A Mount Jewett man is being charged with simple assault, harassment and burglary after David Stahli, 35, entered a home occupied by Abby Winsor of Mount Jewett by climbing through a bedroom window early Sunday morning.

Jamie Winters, 39, of Liberty was investigated Sunday morning after ignoring a PFA order for Brandon Baker, 19, of Galeton.  State police from Coudersport investigated.

Larry Button, 29, of Galeton was cited by Coudersport PSP after he reportedly scattered rubbish on property owned by Denise Hand of Mills on Saturday.

A Coudersport woman is in trouble with state police there after Sheila Foust, 43, was involved in an argument with her husband Gary.  State police tell us Foust also subjected the victim to unwanted physical contact during the verbal altercation Friday evening.

A Port Allegany teen has been charged with harassment after making several calls to an Emporium man.  State police in Emporium state that Kimberly Norris, 18, made the calls to Michael smith Friday evening.

Three Emporium residents escaped injury following an accident Thursday along Route 120, just east of South Broad street in Emporium.  State police there state that Jason Bosworth, 22, failed to observe that Rebecca Wright and Janice Fitch were stopped in their respective vehicles.  Bosworth then impacted the rear of the Wright 1989 Pontiac , which rear ended the 2001 Chevy driven by Fitch.

A Genesee woman died as the result of an accident Saturday afternoon.  Coudersport based state police state that Ila Smith, 65, of Genesee pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by Dustin Crosby, 27, of Coudersport.  Smith died as what was described by the Potter County coroner’s office as blunt force trauma.

Those disabled patrons driving to Olean to shop will have to fork over change to park in designated parking spots.  According to Mayor David Carucci, business owners requested the change, which goes into effect June 1st.

A representative of the Governor’s Veterans Outreach and Assistance Center will be at the McKean County Careerlink office Wednesday from 10:00am to 4:00pm .  Those stopping by at that time are to bring with them their DD-214.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a was quiet according to our checks with state police in Kane, Coudersport, Ridgway and Emporium.  There were no related incidences to report either.

Ridgway based state police are investigating a theft which occurred yesterday at the St. Marys Wal-mart.  A release states that Collette McKinney, 30, of St. Marys left $20.00 on the check out.  When she returned the money and the person that took the money were gone.  Those with details are asked to contact PSP in Ridgway.

Residents and others will gather Sunday in Austin to pay tribute to their town’s founder, E. O. Austin.  A replica of the home Austin lived in will be dedicated during ceremonies at 1:30pm .

Ridgway school board met last evening, approving the 2006-2007 budget, with no tax increase.  Adoption of the budget is scheduled for June 12th.  In other news, the board hired Patricia Sloppy as High School Guidance Counselor at a salary of nearly $39,000.  The next board meeting is scheduled for June 12th at 6:30pm in the Elementary School Cafeteria.

The Rustick Landfill in Hutchins is one step closer to increasing their intake.  Pennsylvania ’s DEP approved an environmental assessment needed to move one step closer to the increase.  Rustick is after an increase of as much as 800 daily tons.  Rustick has owned the landfill since 2005, when it purchased the facility from the McKean County Solid Waste Authority.

The winning bid for work at Hamlin Township ’s municipal building went to Taylor and Armstrong for just under $5,000.  Parking lot paving will be done in addition to the construction of a ramp for handicap-accessibility.  The building has been in the spotlight over the lack of ability for those with wheelchairs to get inside, in part due to a drop between ground level and the doorway threshold.

Those itching to get back into skiing will be pleased to know Holiday Valley is making $4.3 million in improvements, including a 62 million gallon lake for snow making, with a new lift planned later.

The Housing and Redevelopment Authority of McKean County will hold their regular business meeting Thursday at 10:00am at their offices.

Theft from a Ulysses woman’s property is under investigation.  Coudersport based state police tell us someone entered a barn owned by Bridgette McNeil, 39, of Ulysses on Tuesday, taking a pet rabbit valued at $40.00.  Those with additional information are asked to contact Coudersport PSP. 

William Kennedy of Kelton was the victim of a burglary being investigated by Coudersport troopers after someone reportedly entered his seasonal residence between May 2nd and the 9th, removing a 22 caliber long rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun.  Two doors were also damaged during the illegal entry.  Those having information about this incident can contact Coudersport PSP.

And a Sinnamahoning woman was found after Amie Deetscreek, 21 hadn’t been seen for several days after last being seen by her parents last Friday.  Emporium PSP investigated.

Bradford Regional Airport’s new carrier, RegionsAir, is set to begin service this fall.  RegionsAir will replace Colgan Air Inc., under the Federal EAS program.  Thirty four seat Saab 340’s will be used to service the airport.

Kane School District’s request for a grant worth around $25,000 for use in alternative energy was sent elsewhere.  According to Sandra Chlopecki, School District Superintendent, 17 of the 18 grants awarded were sent west of the Mississippi.  Chlopecki went on to say the district plans to re-apply for a grant next year.

The Department of Human Services is asking for your help in locating a missing 16 year old last seen in the Veterans Square area of Bradford April 25th.  Natasha Skaggs is described as being 5’4”, about 130 pounds, with dark skin and curly hair.  She also has burn marks on her left arm.  Anyone having information on the whereabouts of Skaggs is asked to contact the Department of Human Services or call 911 and ask for an on-call case worker.

Otto-Eldred School officials okayed the IU9 budget, in addition to naming several to positions such as solicitor and board secretary. 

Otto Township has set clean up days for the week of June 12, with registration due by the 8th.  The fee is $30.00 for the first 1,000 pounds.  Car and truck tires cost extra.  For more information or a form, stop by the supervisor’s office on Main Street.  You can also pick up a form at the Superette and Armstrong Telephone.

And the Community Blood Bank is asking for your help in replenishing the supply of blood in the area by donating.  Hundreds of donors are needed to alleviate the shortage which has continued.  To donate, you can stop by the Community Blood Bank on Davis Street in Bradford.  No appointment is needed.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…DUI by a Pittsburgh man yesterday along Gibbs Hill in Hamilton Township was investigated by Kane troopers when they stopped Frank Pilatowski, 48, for a summary offense around 7:54pm.  Charges have been filed.

Criminal mischief along Lower Portage Road in Liberty Township is under investigation by Kane PSP.  Tell state that someone threw a brick through a window of the Bradley Elliot residence Tuesday.  Those with additional information can contact Kane PSP.
