This is WQRM Regional News for Wednesday, November 30, 2005

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an accident on Horse Run Road shortly after 8:00pm was responded to by Coudersport state police. The accident occurred as Shinglehouse resident 63 year old George Tilley was traveling south when his 89 Lincoln Towncar left the roadway and struck 2 parked cars. One was owned by Langhome resident Edward Termyna JR and the other was owned by Shinglehouse resident John Fretzer. Tilley received no injuries.

Theft from a Ridgway residence between the 14th and Tuesday of this week remains under investigation.  State police state that someone took two "For Sale" signs attached to an ATV while it was parked in Brady Rex's front yard.  According to troopers, this has happened on 2 occasions.  Those having information about this incident are asked to contact troopers.

Emporium based state police have asked us to let you know that Route 120 between Driftwood Borough and the Cameron County Country Club is closed at this time due to flooding.

A hit and run on Rock Run Road Monday between 5:30am and 2:00pm occurred as someone hit a 98 Toyota Tacoma owned by Vermont resident Jeffery Leggio. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact state police in Kane.

False alarm charges have been filed against a Weedville business.  State police from Ridgway tell us Delullo's Supermarket in Jay Township was cited for 4 false alarms in the past 12 months.

A hit and run at the St. Marys Wal-Mart occurred Monday evening. State police state that the incident occurred John Nusbaum Jr of St. Marys hit a 2002 Ford F-150. Charges are pending.

Criminal mischief on Monday on Route 255 is under investigation by state police. Laurie Brennan told troopers her vehicle was struck with a blunt object as she drove along Route 255 around 10:00pm. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact state police.

DUI by a Roulette resident on Sunday left Sara Sallade in trouble with state police from Coudersport after she was stopped shortly after 1:30am for a traffic violation.

And DUI by a East Millsboro resident on Saturday left Christopher Konopka in trouble after troopers from Coudersport stopped the accused in Wharton Township.

A fire at a Smethport residence was started by a floating gas can. Heavy rains gave a gas can in the basement boyancy before it floated past an open flame in the either the furnace or hot water heater. Smethport Fire Department was on the scene for nearly 1 ˝ hours.

Representative Martin Causer will hold constituent hours Thursday from 9:00am to 10:00am at the Emporium Borough office. He’ll also be at the Port Allegany Borough office 10:30 to 11:30 and at the Eldred Borough office from 12:30 to 1:30.

Country fans of Neal McCoy will be happy to know that tickets for the singers show at St. Bonaventure on December 11th are still available. The show begins at 7:30, with the doors opening at 6:30.

Checking the traffic and accident scene from overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in Kane, Emporium, Ridgway and Coudersport.

Burglary some time between the 7th and the 28th of this month occurred at a camp owned by Lewis Run resident Robert Butters. A door was pried open to gain entry. Once inside, those involved rummaged through cabinets, according to police. Nothing was reportedly taken. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact troopers.

And theft on Sunday in Coudersport remains under investigation. State police state that someone driving on Ridge Road took various wood cutting tools owned by Kevin Leonard as the victim was transporting firewood back to his home.

The Red Garter Restaurant atop South Mountain in Salamanca may close for good, according to owner Tom Fenton. At this time, the restaurant is only closed for the season. Fenton stated that he has had inquires about the businesses location. No details were given as to what the property may hold in the future.

And US Air Force Tech Sergeant Jamie Himes Dana may be able to keep her partner and bomb-sniffing dog, Rex. Its currently against Air Force policy to do such things, but a move by politicians including Representative John Peterson along with John Murtha would give the Air Force the funding needed to replace the canine. Nearly 200 signatures supporting the move have been collected from throughout the area in support of Dana being given Rex.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…33 year old Ephrata resident Christopher Hull was traveling along Rauch road in Abbott Township Sunday morning, when Coudersport based state police say the operator lost control of his 96 Chevrolet Blazer on the snow covered roadway. The vehicle then slid off the west berm, struck an embankment, continued up the embankment for about 8 feet, went back down the embankment and back onto the roadway. Hull’s vehicle then slid across both lanes of travel, off the east berm and over an embankment before it rolled onto the driver’s side and came to rest. Hull escaped uninjured.

Four Philadelphia residents were in a 2005 Ford Escape when William Hughes was driving south on Route 872, just south of Austin on Saturday. State police from Coudersport say that Hughes lost control of the car when it rounded a curve on the snow covered roadway. The vehicle then slid off the western side of Route 872. As Hughes attempted to regain control, it slid across both lanes of travel before entering the eastern berm where it struck cement steps leading to Forest Hill Cemetery. No injuries were reported by Hughes or his 3 passengers.

DUI along Route 948 on Saturday left a Ridgway resident on trouble with troopers there. State police state that Bruce Johnson, 41, was stopped for an equipment violation around 1:40am when they determined he was also DUI.

An accident Friday a the Route 6/Pump Station Road intersection left a Crosby resident charged and 2 Smethport residents uninjured. Kane based state police state that Louis Bacha, 41, of Crosby was operating a 2005 ford Truck too close to a 2000 Volkswagen Beatle driven by Barbara Bowman. Bowman was stopped on Pump Station Road while Bacha was driving eastbound on Route 6. Bacha failed to see Bowman stopped and waiting to make a left turn. The Bacha vehicle traveled onto the south berm, impacted the guiderail and then impacted the rear of the Bowman vehicle. Bacha’s vehicle then came to rest, as did the Bowman vehicle.

Harassment on Saturday in Emporium was investigated by state police their. Troopers tell WQRM Emporium Tasha Takosky was involved in a verbal argument with James Fleck, also of Emporium. Charges are pending against both individuals.

And simple assault charges are being filed against a Warren resident after Tiffany Fleming, 22 punched a known juvenile shortly before 8:00pm on Thursday in Ludlow.

Harassment at the Wall residence in Mount Jewett on Thursday left Jason Wall in trouble with troopers from the Kane barracks after he threatened Noell Myers, 19, of Mount Jewett.

Charges against a 39 year old Hollidaysburg resident were filed Saturday by Ridgway troopers. Mary Nelson, 39, reportedly pulled in behind a trooper’s cruiser while the officer was conducting a traffic stop for another person. Nelson was determined to be DUI when she approached the troopers aroun1:40am.

Theft from a Galeton business on October 21st has a Galeton resident in trouble. Todd Putnam, 43, is being charged after he left the lodge without paying for services, in the amount of $212.00.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…state police from Coudersport tell us a 2 vehicle accident at the intersection of Trout Brook Road and Route 6 occurred around Noon yesterday. Both vehicles were eastbound on Route 6 when Debra Brookens, 58, of Port Allegany stopped her 94 Ford Taurus to make a left turn onto Trout Brook Road. At that time David Close of Warren was driving a 99 Dodge Ram behind the Brookens car. At this time Close attempted to avoid hitting the Brookens car, only to collide. Close continued before striking a guiderail at the intersection of Route 6 and Trout Brook. Brookens’ vehicle came to rest just east of the intersection. A passenger in the Close vehicle, Andrew Close, was taken to Charles Cole for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Gwen Hugger, 46, of Ulysses was traveling south in a 94 Chrysler Town and Country when her car hit an ice patch, sending the vehicle off the western side of Phoenix Run Road and into an embankment.  The car then continued southbound along the berm as it rotated clockwise, rolled onto the driver's side and then slid for 40 feet.  Hugger was taken to Corning Hospital for treatment of her moderate injuries.

A crash in the early hours of Thursday was responded to by Ridgway based state police around 2:15.  James Cowen, 45, of Ridgway was northbound on Route 948 when he lost control of his 95 GMC Jimmy, sending the SUV off the east side of the roadway, through a drainage ditch and rolling onto its left side.  Cowan then fled the scene, later to be located by state police and charged with failure to drive at a safe speed and fleeing the scene of an accident.  Cowan received minor injuries.

A Jefferson Missouri resident escaped injury after an early morning accident yesterday.  State police in Ridgway state that Anish Nayani, 25, was traveling north when he lost control of his 2005 Jeep.  The Jeep spun clockwise, crossed the southbound lane and rolled onto its roof.

Criminal mischief on Thursday remains under investigation. Sometime yesterday someone damaged a mailbox owned by Genesee resident Eric Elderkin. Those involved then fled. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact state police.

An act of criminal mischief between 8:00pm Wednesday and 9:00am Thursday was investigated by troopers from the Ridgway PSP barracks after someone damaged the front window of the residence of James Gretti of Route 219, Brockport.  Apparently a BB Gun was used in the incident.

And an accident on Route 646 in Keating Township on Wednesday was investigated by state police from Kane. Troopers tell WQRM Mary Borro, 49, of Bradford was southbound on 646 in a 2003 Ford Taurus when her car slid on a patch of ice while she slowed for a pedestrian. Her car exited on the east berm, traveled southeast for awhile and struck several trees. Borro was taken to BRMC for treatment of her injuries.

Happy Thanksgiving. The complete forecast is on the way. Roads are snow covered, unplowed and very slick. Caution is advised.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday… An 82 year old Emporium resident escape injury after an accident yesterday afternoon in Shippen Township. State police from Emporium state that Samuel Demark, along with a vehicle driven by Russell Lewis, also of Emporium were both southbound on Route 155 when Lewis slowed to make a left turn. At this time the front end of the Demark vehicle struck the rear of the Lewis vehicle. Lewis was taken to Elk Regional in St. Marys for treatment of head and neck pain. Both Demark and Lewis were wearing seatbelts.

A crash on Route 555 just before 8:00am yesterday was responded to by Ridgway state police after Lester Ross, 81, of Benezette was traveling around a left curve when he lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway. No injuries were reported by Ross or his wife Clara.

Theft by deception on September 24th remains under investigation after someone wrote a check on a closed account to Fairview Fuel of Kersey. Ridgway based state police are investigating.

Criminal trespass on Wednesday remains under investigation. At approximately 4:00pm 2 males entered posted property on land leased by Judson Hunting Club in Pike Township. The males, who were tracking a wounded bear, were followed by hunting club members and confronted. Identities of the trespassers were not obtained before they left. However a vehicle registration was obtained and the vehicle’s owner is known. Those having further information are asked to contact state police in Coudersport.

Arson at an abandoned camp in Liberty Township, McKean County was investigated by a Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall recently. It was determined that the cause of the fire at the camp was arson.

Theft by deception involving a known suspect and Farview Fuel of Kersey remains under investigation after someone wrote a check on a closed account between August 20th and the 23rd. Another incident of bad check writing occurred between October 7th and the 8th. This incident is also under investigation.

And with the plea of guilty, the case against Adelphia and the founder’s family ends a drawn out case which begin after filings were discovered to be misleading after an investigation began several years ago. Michael Rigas plead guilty in Manhattan court Wednesday. Rigas now works for another cable provider.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a hit and run in Wetmore Township last evening damaged a garage owned by Nellie Rostan of Kane. An unknown vehicle, possibly a dark colored car, drove through the garage doors on the west end of the Rostan garage before continuing into a wall on the north side of the building. As those invovled backed out, they hit one of the garage walls. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact state police in Kane.

An accident last evening in Lafayette Township left a Bradford resident with a citation for failure to wear a seatbelt. Joshua Godfrey, 22, was traveling north on Route 219 when he lost control of the 2000 GMC Jimmy while driving on the icy roadway. The vehicle then crossed the southbound lane, traveled onto the west berm and continued in a northerly direction where it went up an embankment. The vehicle then rolled onto its roof and came to rest. Godfrey escaped unharmed.

Fire of undetermined origin at a St. Marys business last evening remains under investigation. Ridgway based state police tell us fire broke out in a sawdust storage building at Babcock Lumber on Spruce Street Ext. The structure and contents were a total loss.

Criminal mischief on Peach Street in Weedville yesterday afternoon remains under investigation after someone yelled at the victim as he was in his car with the high beams on. Ridgway PSP tell WQRM Benjamin Gregori, a Weedville resident, told troopers the person involved then fled in a white pick up. Those having further details are asked to contact state police or Elk County Crimestoppers.

Some time between 6:00pm Monday and 8:30am Tuesday of this week someone damaged mailboxes owned by Emporium residents. A mailbox owned by Earl Reed of Bryant Hill Road, and 2 on Moore Hill Road were damaged. The Moor Hill Road owners are listed as Twila Grimm and James Haas. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact state police.

A hit and run at the Wal-Mart in St. Marys remains under investigation by troopers from the Ridgway barracks. This incident occurred around noon when a Chevrolet Monte Carlo was hit by an unknown vehicle. Those with information are asked to contact state police or Elk County Crimestoppers.

Criminal mischief at Delullo’s Supermarket in Weedville was investigated by state police from the Ridgway barracks after someone opened their car door into a vehicle owned by Joni Haas of St. Marys on the 19th around 5:20pm.

And police patrols by the Ridgway barracks of the PSP will be conducted throughout Elk County through December 4th. Emphasis will be on DUI enforcement.

A tourist attraction for decades is making plans to close for ever, unless a buyer comes forward. Celebrating their 70th anniversary this year, America’s First Christmas Store started in 1935 after Leonard Johnson spent several years making displays which by 1935 had become nationally known. Owner Dee Buchanan was quoted as saying that one reason her and her husband Greg are quitting the business is to spend more time with family.

And the family of former Coudersport resident Patrick Ryan is still offering a reward of $10,000 for information leading to the cause of his death in August. Ryan was found in Forest County after a search began when he failed to show up at his girlfriend’s residence. Ryan was last seen at a Clarion bar the evening of August 13th. Those with information are asked to contact Clarion police or Clarion based state police.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Ridgway based state police tell us a two vehicle accident occurred yesterday morning, shortly before 10:30 on Route 219, just south of Appollo Road in Horton Township. Daniel Hart, 29, of Philadelphia was operating a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu northbound. While attempting to pass two vehicles a tri-axle dump truck began turning left. Hart swerved to the left to miss the truck, only to exit on the west berm. The Hart car then re-entered the roadway, crossed both lanes of travel and entered the east berm where it struck a 93 Dodge Dakota owned by Daniel Lines of Brockport as it sat in the owner’s driveway. Hart’s car then continued northbound before coming to rest along the east side of the roadway. Charges are pending against Hart for careless driving.

An accident on SR4001, just south of the Potter/McKean County line in Potter County occurred early yesterday morning as KaSandra Goodrich of Shinglehouse was traveling south. She swerved to miss a deer in the roadway only to strike a culvert. The 99 Ford Ranger she was driving then went airborne for nearly 70 feet before it rolled counterclockwise. It then proceeded 71 feet on its roof, coming to rest in a ditch. Goodrich was taken by ambulance to Charles Cole for treatment of her minor injuries. No charges are being filed.

Harassment at Otto-Eldred High School, along with a residence in Eldred Township early yesterday was investigated by Kane troopers. Three non-traffic citations were issued by troopers to 3 known juveniles for their behavior prior to going to school.

Criminal trespass is under investigation by Ridgway state police after someone trespassed on Jay township Water Authority property yesterday afternoon. State police state that someone rode a Yamaha Rhino, green in color, on posted property on Taylor Street. No further details are available.

Harassment by unknown persons on Monday to a cell phone owned by Deborah Woodel of Brockport was investigated by Ridgway PSP. Woodel reportedly received several text messages between 6:44 and 6:31pm.

Harassment in Emporium yesterday will leave charges filed against an Emporium resident after an incident on Rich Valley Road. Evelyn Kossman and Thomas Kossman were involved in a verbal dispute when it turned physical and Evelyn Kossman reportedly harassment the victim.

A crash on Route 6, 1 mile west of Port Allegany was responded to by Kane troopers Sunday evening. Amanda Freer, 20, of Austin was westbound in a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am when the operator swerved to miss a bear in the roadway. The Freer vehicle then traveled into the east lane before sliding back across the westbound lane before striking an embankment where it came to rest. Freer was wearing her seatbelt and received no injuries.

Harassment on Carson Street in the borough of Emporium on Saturday was responded to by troopers from the barracks there. Two known persons were involved in an argument when the suspect slapped the victim.

Criminal mischief between last Thursday and Friday in Shippen Township was investigated by troopers from the Emporium barracks after someone used a blunt object to strike a mailbox owned by John Miller and one owned by James Geelen.

A long-time business owner in the area passed away Monday. Stanley M. Gleason, owner of SM Gleason Company passed away at his residence after a short illness. Gleason took part in the construction of such buildings as the Zippo/Case Visitors Center and the YWCA in Bradford.

And plans are moving forward for a Sheetz to be located in the city of St. Marys, according to officials. According to City Manager David Greene, talks are ongoing. The next St. Marys city council meeting is set for 7:00pm December 5th.

In sports...Coudersport Falcon Football players continue to win.  Their next trip takes them to Slippery Rock University this Friday.  Kick-off is set for6:00pm.  Pre-game on our sister station, WFRM-AM600, begins shortly after 5:30.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…DUI Saturday left a Butler resident in trouble with Ridgway state police. Daniel Fallecker, 42, was stopped along Route 555 in Bennezette Township around 3:30am and arrested for DUI.

Part of Route 6 was closed to traffic for about 12 hours beginning shortly before midnight Saturday as crews investigated an accident which claimed the life of a Duke Center resident. Kane based state police tell WQRM Donald Causer, 39, was traveling east when his 1998 International Tractor Trailer slid while negotiating a left curve. The truck then rolled onto its roof and slid into an embankment along the south berm, before continuing east. As the tank ruptured, a fire began. Four fire departments were on scene to assist in extinguishing the fire. The accident remains under investigation.

Criminal mischief charges were filed against a Coudersport teen after an incident Sunday morning at Charles Cole Hospital. State police state that Luke Russell was being placed in a Potter County Human Services vehicle to be transported when he kicked out a rear window and climbed out of the vehicle. He was then taken into custody and taken by PSP to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital.

Simple assault charges were filed against a Galeton resident after he reportedly slapped a 4 year old across the face. Michael Bryant was arrested by Coudersport troopers after an incident Sunday morning on Route 872. He was arraigned and then released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

A fire of undetermined origin is under investigation by Ridgway based state police. Fire broke out on a shed owned by Lyle Garner Saturday around 2:30am. The fire then spread to a nearby garage before causing approximately $55,000 in damages. Those having information about this fire are asked to contact Ridgway based state police.

An accidental fire on Saturday in Benezette destroyed a seasonal residence owned by Carol VanVoorhis. Ridgway PSP tell WQRM the fire began in the attic before spreading and causing at least $10,000 in damages.

Criminal mischief on Friday or Saturday is under investigation by Ridgway state police after someone shot at the home of Christina Young of Force. Those with additional information are asked to contact troopers.

Kane based state police state they are investigating an incident which occurred between 11:00pm Friday and 8:00am Saturday. Someone struck a mailbox owned by Daniel Powers of Rixford.

A crash along Route 949, Spring Creek Township, Elk County was responded to by Ridgway based state police after 29 year old Stacy Mitchell traveled north on Route 949 when the operator swerved to miss a deer. She lost control of her 99 Buick Century. The car then left the roadway and rolled over into a drainage ditch.

Burglary at a camp on Smith Hill Road in Jay Township. State police tell us some time between last Sunday and this past Friday someone entered a camp owned by William Gallagher of New Castle by prying open the side door. Once inside removed was a rechargeable spot light, a 12 gauge double barrel, double trigger shot gun, a black and Decker cordless drill and bits, a Super Nintendo game system, two pair of gloves, various canned goods, a jar of 22 caliber cartridges and various coins. Those involved also pried open a storage shed and removed 2-5 gallon gas cans. Those involved then walked 50 feet to another seasonal dwelling where they took a 13 inch color TV, a VCR and about one case of assorted beers. Total estimated damage is at $40.00 with stolen property valued at about $458.00.

And theft from a vehicle between the 10th and the 12th remains under investigation. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM someone took a pair of binoculars and approximately $125.00 from a vehicle owned by David Brown Jr. of Coudersport.

State Representative Martin Causer announced Friday that funds will be given to Potter and Cameron County’s Conservation Districts for use in waterway clean-up and related restoration of nearby land. Funds were given under the

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…our checks with state police in Kane, Ridgway, Emporium and Coudersport told us all was quiet. There were no related incidences to report either.

Two incidences of criminal mischief occurring at about the same time and on the same days occurred in the listening area. Kane troopers tell us someone broke two rails on a fence owned by Howard Sluga of Kane. The incident occurred on the 15th or 16th.

And HRI Incorporated of State College told troopers in Ridgway recently that someone threw a large vegetable at one of their digital construction signs while it was on Route 255, just south of Johnsonburg. Those having information are asked to contact Ridgway state police.

Another permit has been issued by Pennsylvania’s DEP for use in Cameron County for the purpose of mining in Shippen Township. It was mentioned by a DEP information specialist that they will hold the company doing the mining accountable for a period of time before releasing them of any reliability.

One of the owners of 3 local newspaper companies in our listening area is being charged in connection with looting millions. Conrad Black, part owner of the Bradford Era, Salamanca Press and Olean Times Herald is being accused of using company funds to sustain his personal lifestyle. The former Canadian will be extradited by authorities if he fails to show to answer charges.

And a 5 percent hike in taxes in St. Marys will help balance the coming year’s budget. Council made the decision Thursday night to raise taxes, bringing in an additional $73,000 for the general fund.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…our checks with state police in Kane, Coudersport, Emporium and Ridgway turned up an all was quiet. There were no related incidences to report either.

An accident along Route 948 on Tuesday left a 98 Ford Explorer driven by Eric Johnston of St. Marys with severe damage. Ridgway troopers state that Johnston was traveling south on Route 948 when the Explorer began to skid on the wet pavement as the operator attempted to negotiate a right hand curve. Johnston lost control when the SUV traveled off the roadway and on to the west berm. It then crossed both lanes of travel before entering the east berm where it dropped into a culvert and came to rest on its side. Johnston escaped unharmed.

A child safety seat check will be conduct by Emporium based state police next Wednesday from 1:00 to 5:30pm at Cool’s Auto Repair on Route 155, just north of Emporium.

About 18 months after the requests begin to building on the 500 block of North Main in Port Allegany, Bill Burleson has received permission, by unanimous vote of borough council, to build a small shopping complex on property be purchased from the Kennel’s.

Several thousand dollars could be made by Kane borough if the borough police escorted oversized trucks through the borough, as was discussed during a meeting held Monday. A $100 fee could be charged for those traveling through town. A decision could be made during the December 5th meeting. The first escorts could begin January 1st.

The Community Blood Bank in Bradford is celebrating their 6th anniversary of being the sole provider of blood for Bradford Regional Medical Center. An open house will be held at their Davis Street location today from 3:30 to 7:30pm. For more information contact the CBB in Bradford.

The annual Dinner Theatre will be held this Friday and Saturday by the Port Allegany School District. Friday’s performance begins at 7:30pm and Saturday’s begins at 6:30pm.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in the listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.

DUI sobriety checkpoints will be throughout the Coudersport and Mansfield based state police coverage area throughout this and next month. State police remind motorists to wear their seatbelts, don’t drink and drive and make sure their vehicles comply with the state’s vehicle codes.

Harassment yesterday morning at the Winston residence at Dunbar Crossing in Port Allegany remains under investigation by Kane troopers after a known females sent letters to Michael Winston. Phone calls were also received by the same person.

DUI by a Weedville resident Monday was reported by Ridgway state police after Kristine Friday was stopped for traffic violations along Route 948 shortly after 9:00pm. Charges have been filed.

Criminal mischief Monday remains under investigation by Coudersport PSP after someone threw rocks through a rear upstairs window at a residence owned by Kevin Risser of Coudersport. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact troopers.

Bad check writing at Wal-Mart in St. Marys is under investigation after someone wrote a check on a closed account October 9th. Those having information are asked to contact troopers in Ridgway.

Burglary from the residence of Robert Kelly of Smethport is under investigation by state police from Kane after someone entered his residence and removed a laptop owned by Ashley Kelly, also a Smethport resident.

Bad check writing at Wal-mart remains under investigation by Ridgway PSP after a known person wrote 4 checks on a closed account throughout September.

And bad check writing at Wal-mart in St. Marys is under investigation after another known female suspect wrote a check on a closed account.

Senator Joe Scarnati will hold constituent hours in Lewis Run from 10:00 to 11:00am this Thursday. He’ll also be in Kane Friday from 12:30 to 1:30.

Josh Costa received enough votes to obtain a seat on Smethport’s Borough Council. Costa garnered 287 votes in the November 8th election. Also elected to council positions were Paul Raymond, Patty Witchen and Greg Rounsville. And the only candidate for Mayor, Ross Porter received 246 votes.

And Ohio’s Bates Amusements was signed as the 2006 ride and amusement provider for the McKean County Fair. Booking the company now, gives the fair association the opportunity to hold the fair the same week as has happened in years past, which will be August 14th – 19th.

And the Kinzua Dam and Reservoir will receive federal funding of $300,000. Federal Representative john Peterson announced the funds Tuesday, stating that funds were allocated for use in improving the visitor’s center and improvement of fishing on the reservoir.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a fatal crash occurred yesterday, shortly before 5:00pm in Jones Township. Ridgway based state police tell us John Dikeman, 47, of Wilcox was traveling north on Rasselas Road when a deer entered the roadway. He swerved on his 83 Honda motorcycle, lost control and impacted the roadway. Dikeman was taken to elk Regional where he was pronounced deceased due to head trama. He was not wearing a helmet.

An accident yesterday afternoon was responded to by Coudersport troopers around 3:30pm. Coudersport PSP say that Kendra Mesler, 20, of Eldred was traveling west in a 96 Chevrolet Cavalier along Route 44 in Shinglehouse when she became distracted sending her car off the north berm of Route 44. The car then crossed both lanes of traffic, went up an embankment and rolled once before coming to rest. Mesler was taken To Charles Cole for treatment.

Criminal mischief at the Margie Weaver residence in Emporium was investigated by troopers there. State police state that someone damaged Weaver’s John Deere tractor, causing $100.00 in damages.

A Renovo resident was involved in an accident Sunday afternoon in Benezette Township around 5:30pm. State police from the Ridgway barracks state that David Romanak, 53, was traveling west on Route 555 when an bull elk jumped off the hillside and into the path of the Romanak 2003 Dodge Ram. Romanak escaped unharmed.

A DUI related incident Saturday left a Weedville resident in trouble after his accident was responded to by Ridgway based state police. Thomas Barr, 48, was traveling east on Route 555 when he attempted to negotiate a left curve. His 95 Chevrolet Monte Carlo began to slide across both lanes of traffic, where it struck an embankment, causing the car to flip. The car came to rest on its roof, leaving Barr with no reportable injuries. The driver was taken into custody by troopers.

And a one vehicle accident on Route 46 in Keating township left 58 year old Bradford resident John Kohler with no reportable injuries. Kane state police tell WQRM Kohler was traveling north on Route 46 when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway. Kohler’s 98 Lexus GS 400 then rotated clockwise, traveling off the east side of the roadway where it struck a cement wall. Kohler may be charged in connection with leaving the scene without reporting the incident. Charges are also being filed for careless driving.

The Marienville Ranger District of the ANF is seeking substantive public comments on the Environmental Assessment for the Forest Project in Elk and McKean Counties. For more information phone the office at 927-6628.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…DUI on Route 120 Saturday morning left a DuBois resident in trouble with Ridgway state police. Carrie Lecker lost control of her 95 ford Escort, crossing both lanes of traffic and hitting a bank. Ridgway troopers tell WQRM Lecker was wearing her seatbelt and received no injuries.

An incident Friday afternoon was investigated by Kane troopers. Shannon Turk, 58, of St. Marys was attempting to back out of a parking space at Sena Kean Manor when he backed into a 2005 Dodge Durango. Turk then left the scene and was later cited for the incident.

Criminal mischief Saturday along the Bennett’s Valley Highway in Jay Township, Elk County was investigated by Ridgway based state police after someone damaged a parked vehicle owned by James Bonin of Byrnedale. The incident occurred around 8:30pm when someone used a brick to break the left rear tail light on Bonin’s Ford Crown Victoria.

The transport of paintball guns left two 19 year olds in trouble with Ridgway based state police Friday afternoon, shortly before 2:00. The police report issued states that Ryan Keller of Ridgway and Johnsonburg resident Michael Valimont were both charged in the incident.

Criminal mischief between the 6th and the 7th in Lewis Run Borough caused damage to a Chevrolet Truck owned by Curt Cox. Kane troopers tell WQRM someone damaged the Cox ‘s windshield and hood as the vehicle was parked outside Jose Bar in Lewis Run.

Harassment in Lewis Run Borough early this morning remains under investigation by troopers from the Kane barracks. A know person reportedly harassed a known individual. No further details are available according to troopers.

Simple assault on Sunday left a Smethport resident in trouble. Kane troopers tell WQRM Laura and Charles Burdick were involved in an argument when Charles Burdick allegedly struck the victim in the face. He was taken into custody and arraigned, with bail set at $3,000 percentage. Bail was posted and th3e accused was released.

Harassment in Galeton on Sunday left a Brockport resident in trouble with Coudersport troopers after Ronald Repiscak, 63, put his hands on the victim, 69 year old Claudia Wallace of Galeton. He then, according to troopers, pushed her into a chair. The accused was charged with harassment.

Shana Houghtaling, 20, of Shinglehouse was cited by Coudersport PSP on Sunday after troopers discovered the accused was intoxicated around 2:00am in Shinglehouse Borough.

Theft from a motor vehicle in Shinglehouse is being investigated by Coudersport PSP. Someone took Stephanie Amidon’s purse from her vehicle between 2:00am and 7:00am on Saturday.

Sunday Kane troopers were called about a wanted person walking along the old Smethport Road in Wetmore Township around 3:15am. Upon their arrival, troopers found Kane resident 51 year old Teddy Warham in a highly intoxicated state. This was after the accused jumped in front of the troopers marked patrol car. Warham was cited with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Joseph Haines of Mills told Coudersport troopers over the weekend that someone removed a deer stand of his, which was near his property on Marsh Creek road. Those having information about this theft should contact state police in Coudersport.

Theft from property on West Branch Road in Potter County remains under investigation by Coudersport state police after someone, between the 5th and this past Saturday, attempted to remove propane from a tank on property owned by Michael Donnelly of Lancaster.

And false alarms at Coudersport Animal Health Center on the Kio Road left that business in trouble after troopers reported to the business more than the allotted 3 times in the past 12 consecutive months for the same reason.

Over $13 million will be involved in the changing of hands of Atlanta based Georgia-Pacific to Wichita, KS based Koch Industries Inc. G-P is known for it’s Brawny papertowls and Angel Soft tissue. Locally, they make container board products at their Owens Way facility in Bradford. According to stats on the companies website, the Bradford facility employs just over 150 people.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…state police in Emporium tell WQRM Geraldine Pierce, 61, of Emporium was operating a 99 Mercury Sable Sedan eastbound on Route 120 in Lumber Township when she became distracted and lost control. In an attempt to gain control of her car, Pierce’s vehicle crossed the center line, traveled along an embankment and came to rest approximately 250 feet from where she last had control of the sedan. No injuries were reported.

Burglary Wednesday or Thursday remains under investigation. Coudersport based state police state that some time over the two day period someone broke a window at a seasonal residence owned by Scott Treffinger of Pennsburg. Once inside, those involved took a 6-pack, a Philadelphia Eagles blanket and a brown blanket. Those having information about this incident should contact Coudersport PSP.

Criminal mischief on Wednesday left a Roulette resident in trouble. Robert Wright Jr, 30, is accused of kicking in a door at the home of Lisa DeGroat, also a Roulette resident. The accused also threw a phone against the wall. Criminal mischief charges were filed.

A one vehicle accident Wednesday was responded to by Ridgway troopers around 10:30am along Route 219 in Jones Township. 49 year old James Gordon of Johnsonburg was traveling south when a deer entered the roadway. Gordon’s 2005 Chevrolet Colorado struck the animal and then continued south before coming to rest. Gordon was not injured.

An accident along Route 46 at Bordell Crossroads in Keating Township was responded to by Kane troopers after Michael Eaton of Eldred and his passenger were in an accident. State police state that 20 year old Eaton was traveling north on Route 46 when he lost control of the 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse while he was attempting to negotiate a right curve. According to police, he attempted to miss a deer when the car left the roadway and struck a culvert and overturned. The car then slid across both lanes of traffic before stopping along the west berm. Eaton was charged with careless driving. His passenger, 19 year old Duke Center resident Stephania Anthony received moderate injuries. Eaton was not wearing his seatbelt.

East Berlin resident Cory King is wanted by authorities after a chase last evening, shortly after 5:00pm. State police in Kane tell us they attempted to arrest the accused while he was in Smethport to pick up his girlfriend. Smethport police were eluded by the suspect when he fled on Route 6 westbound. A partial roadblock was put in place, which King avoided. He then continued on Route 6 where King again avoided spike strips. After a crash in a field at the Route 6 and 46 intersection, King fled into a wooded area and has not been seen since.

Theft from a Wilcox residence between October 9th and Wednesday of this week is under investigation. Ridgway based state police state that someone removed several checks from a checkbook owned by Elizabeth Loudermilk.

The power outage earlier this week is still under investigation by officials with First Energy. According to Russell Vanhorn, area manager, the outage was discovered in Elk and McKean counties and a switchover was started immediately.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…we’re told by state police in our listening area that all was quiet. There were no related incidences to report either.

Harassment Tuesday in Fox Township, Elk County was investigated by state police from Ridgway. This incident occurred as Craig Holterback, 18, of Kersey stood in the middle of the intersection of Coal Hollow Road and Hollow Street. At the same time Jessie Wolfe was attempting to drive her car along Coal Hollow Road. When Wolfe slowed to avoid hitting Holterback, Holterback called Wolfe an obscenity.

An accident on Monday in Cameron County left a 32 year old Clearfield resident with moderate injuries. Emporium based state police tell WQRM William Webber was westbound on Route 120 in a Lansburry Brothers tri-axle dump truck when he lost control and the truck rolled onto its side. The truck then slid and hit the guiderail before spinning counter clockwise, dumping its load of coal.

Criminal trespass between the 3rd and the 6th on private property in Hector Township, Potter County remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police. Stanley Neu Jr. told troopers someone entered his property and erected a tree stand without his permission. The investigation continues.

A one vehicle accident on Route 120, one mile east of Emporium borough occurred Saturday afternoon. Joseph Barnhart, 36, of Emporium was westbound on a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle when the bike hit a deer and then traveled off the roadway. Barnhart was taken to Altoona Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Theft from an Emporium residence on Friday occurred around 3:00pm when someone removed a purse belonging to the victim, Jodi Guisto while it was in a 4th Street office.

Harassment in Shippen Township on Friday has left Kay Baker of Emporium in trouble after an incident where she made inconvenient phone calls to Marlene Rupp, also from Emporium.

Criminal mischief at the Sanford Cemetery in Shippen Township remains under investigation by Emporium PSP after someone damaged several veteran’s markers and a cross between August and November.

And Emporium based state police have in their possession, a mountain bike. To claim, phone the barracks and describe.

Power came and went last evening throughout parts of the WQRM listening area as a storm rolled through the area. Power first went out in part of our listening area just after 6:00pm in the Bradford area. According to the First Energy website, as many as 10,000 customers were affected by the outage. Its unclear at this time as to what caused the outages.

McKean County DA John Pavlock’s job will become full-time as of the beginning of January. Pavlock stated that under the full-time position the county is responsible for only 35% of his salary, with the state paying the remainder. McKean County stands to save $20,000, according to Pavlock.

The decision was made earlier this week by Lafayette Township to support 3 ambulance services, including Priority Care of Smethport. With the large area covered, it was decided to use Priority Care, in addition to Mount Jewett and Bradford City’s service.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…our checks with state police in our listening area turned up an all was quiet on area streets and highways. There were no related incidences to report either.

Attempted burglary at Wayne Paving in Shinglehouse between Friday and Monday was investigated by state police from Coudersport. According to troopers, someone attempted entry into the office building. Those involved also damaged decorative pavement in the parking lot.

Camp burglaries in the homer Road area on Jones Township remains under investigation by Ridgway PSP. Some time between Friday and Monday someone entered camps owned by Cheryl Scribben of Wooster, Oh and Anthony Carbelli of Indiana, PA. Entry was made after those involved pried on locked doors. The investigation continues and those having information about this incident are asked to contact state police.

A crash on Friday was responded to by state police from the Coudersport barracks around 9:00am. The crash occurred as Amanda Goerner, 21, of Ulysses was southbound in a 95 Pontiac Grand AM. She attempted to turn onto SR1011. A 2000 Dodge Caravan being operated by Corey Stilson was turning onto SR 1018. Goerner reportedly cut the turn short, cutting in front of the Stilson vehicle and causing the two vehicles to hit. Both operators were taken to Jones Memorial in Wellsville for treatment. Linda Klesa, a passenger in the Stilson vehicle was not injured.

Criminal trespass between October 21st and the 23rd left two Lock Haven residents charged with the same. Kane troopers tell WQRM Donald Green and his wife, Linda were cited after trespassing on property belonging to Nicolette Green of Lewis Run.

And bad check writing at Paper City Jubilee is under investigation by Ridgway state police after a known person cashed a check for $270.00 in late August.

In unofficial election results…Region 2 of the Smethport School District was taken by John Kriner for a seat on the school board. Everett Robbins had the most votes in Port Allegany for a seat on the borough council. Crossfiling, Robbins received 228 votes. In the mayoral race in Kane, Doug Caldwell took the position over Democrat Albert Renzi, with 461 votes.

Those in Smethport Borough can breath a bit of a sigh of relief after borough council decided during their meeting Monday to cut the price of garbage. Rates were raised in September by request from Troutman Sanitation as fuel costs continued to climb. The cost is now $1.75 per sticker. The new prices goes into effect December 1st.

And a former Portville teacher received nearly 40 years after being convicted of inappropriate behavior with boys in 1997 and 2000. James Molyneaux won’t be eligible for parole until he’s 99 years of age.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Joyce Ridgway, 44, of Coudersport was traveling north on Big Moore’s Run Road in a 2003 Pontiac Vibe when she became distracted and drove onto the western embankment. The Ridgway vehicle then rolled onto the roof and came to rest. Ridgway was wearing her seatbelt and received no injuries.

A traffic violation and DUI left a Kersey resident in trouble with state police in Ridgway Saturday. Jesse Jones, 29, was stopped on the Dagus Mines Road when troopers discovered Jones was DUI. Charges are pending.

Criminal mischief between October 30th and last Friday was investigated by troopers in Ridgway. State police tell us someone damaged the passenger’s side rear door window on a 94 Chevrolet Blazer owned by Joan Robuck as it was on Old Kane Road in Wilcox. No further details are available.

Theft by deception on June 30th remains under investigation by troopers in Ridgway after the Valley Rainbow in Weedville received a check on a closed account.

Numerous things were on the list of topics discussed during the Monday evening meeting of the Facilities Committee of the Port Allegany School Board. Items discussed included parking, soundproofing, air conditioning and improved drainage for the hill behind the school.

And St. Marys City council approved the building of an animal shelter, with a vote of 4 to 3. Other items discussed included parking and the payment of loans.

A benefit for Duke Center resident Abbie Strait will be held at 7:00pm Sunday at the Otto Township Firehall. Included will be a spaghetti dinner from 3:30 to 5:30. Live music by Wildfire will be provided from 4:00 to 7:00. Tickets will be available at the door and take-outs will be available.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…a collision along Reed Run Road in Keating Township occurred early yesterday morning after Tracey Spencer, 18, of Port Allegany and her 3 passengers were southbound in a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier LS. Spencer attempted to negotiate a curve in the roadway when she lost control sending the car across the roadway where is ascended an embankment and rolled. Coudersport based state police tell us Spencer was taken to Charles Cole and then flown to Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira. To Austin residents in the same vehicle sustained moderate injuries. And James Kelly, 28, of Emporium, another passenger was moderately injured. All 3 passengers were taken to Charles Cole and later released.

Ridgway PSP responded in a 2 vehicle accident late Saturday evening along Rasselas Road in Jones Township. The report issued states Joseph Haines of Langhorne, Pa was backing into his driveway when his driver’s side door was struck by a vehicle driven by David Barber of Wilcox. Haines was cited for limitations on backing and Barber was cited for careless driving. No injuries were reported.

And a Port Allegany man has been charged with harassment after an incident on Friday. Coudersport based state police tell WQRM they have charged Isaac Lannager with harassment after he phoned the victim, 19 year old Jeffery Myers of Coudersport.

DUI on Friday left a Wellsville resident with no injuries and in trouble with Coudersport based state police. Around 10:45pm Douglas Wade was traveling west on SR1010 when he failed to negotiate a curve. Wade’s 94 Pontiac Grande Prix then crossed the center line and traveled over an embankment. The car then traveled a pasture for about 450 feet where it went air borne over a ditch and impacted the ditch on the other side. The vehicle then continued another 375 feet before coming to rest. Wade was found to be DUI by those responding. He was then arrested and taken to the Potter County jail.

Criminal mischief along Heath Road in Homer Township remains under investigation by Coudersport troopers. State police tell WQRM between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning someone tampered with a log skidder, which was parked along Heath Road, 1 mile west of Route 872. Those involved reportedly poured flour into the hydraulic system in addition to flattening 2 tires. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact Coudersport PSP.

Criminal mischief between 8:00pm on Friday and 10:00am Saturday remains under investigation after someone threw eggs at a Toyota Celica owned by Crystal Boyd as the car was parked along East Main street in Harrison Township. Those with information about this incident are asked to contact state police.

Burglary Friday remains under investigation after someone removed several items from a residence on Mt. Church Road in Horton Township, Elk County. Ridgway troopers tell us someone broke a window at a residence owned by Keith Bennett of Brockport. Once inside, those involved removed 4 guns of varying makes and models.

Burglary between September 15th and Saturday is under investigation by Coudersport troopers, who tell WQRM someone broke a wooden front door jam to gain entry into a seasonal dwelling owned by Herbert Smith of Bradenton, FL. Removed by those involved was a 19’ Broksonic color television.

And the scattering of rubbish on the 30th left 29 year old Serena Hold of Roulette in trouble with Coudersport based state police. Reports state that Hold left a bag of garbage on property owned by Erma Yates, also a Roulette resident.

The elimination of third shift at Olean’s Dal-Tile will affect as many as 60 workers. Earlier discussions were had about the closure of either the Olean plant or one in Jackson, TN or the one in Gettysburg. Operations at the Jackson plant were cut instead, to the tune of half what it was.

Two meetings of the Smethport Chamber will be held Wednesday. The first is for the Board of Directors at 8:00am at the Route 6 Diner. The second meeting will be held at 5:50pm at the Visitor’s Center and is for the events committee. Discussed will be Hometown Holidays and dates and activities for upcoming events.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was quiet according to our checks with state police in the WQRM listening area. There were no related incidences to report either.

Theft by unlawful taking between October 15th and Tuesday of this week occurred at property owned by Thomas Bigley of Kane. Those involved then removed a 22 Savage Model 8 rifle owned by the victim from his garage. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact Kane state police.

The investigation into stolen property continues by Emporium troopers after a known 15 year old was found with a bicycle owned by a known 16 year old.

And suspicious activity around the home of Jessica Vanetten on October 30th was investigated by troopers in Coudersport. State police tell us someone was supposedly wandering around the home around 1:00am. Vanetten heard something hit the home before she went upstairs and heard two more objects hit the house. After the second object hit her house she hear her name called. Those involved then fled undetected.

An overheated furnace motor brought out Eldred Borough and Township firefighters to the Eldred world War II Museum early yesterday morning. According to Museum director, Jay Tennies, working parts within the heating system stopped, causing the motor to burn up. This, in turn, set off alarms for the security and alarm system. Personnel were on the scene for nearly a half hour. Tennies stated that the furnace was repaired and the museum was ready to open by 10:00am.

Representative Dan Surra of Kersey announced recently that the Elk County SWA has been given a grant to help with the costs associated with recycling electronic waste. The grant will be used to help keep TVs, computers and small appliances out of the landfill. A complete list of the acceptable items can be obtained by contacting the Elk County Recycling office.

An adult CPR and basic First Aid course is being planned by the McKean-Potter Chapter of the American Red Cross. The Basic First Aid course begins at 9:00am on November 12th, while the Adult CPR course begins at 1:00pm on the same day. Each course will last about 3 hours. Classes will be held at the chapterhouse in Bradford. Pre-registration and payment must be taken care of prior to next Thursday. For more details, contact the American Red Cross.

Criminal mischief and burglary top the news for today. Kane based state police are investigating an incident where a known female threw eggs at vehicles along Main Street in Lewis Run on Halloween evening. Those having further information are asked to contact troopers in Kane.

Burglary between the afternoon of the 31st and 9:00am Tuesday in Norwich Township remains under investigation. Kane PSP tell WQRM unknown persons entered two buildings in Norwich Township. No known items were taken and the investigation continues. Those having information pertaining to this incident are asked to contact Kane PSP.

Harassment yesterday in Byrnedale left 2 Byrnedale residents in trouble with Ridgway troopers after a fight around 11:30am. Troopers tell us Carrie Runyan and Angel Winslow have both been charged with harassment.

And burglary between noon and 1:00pm on Monday is still under investigation by Kane troopers after someone entered several seasonal residences and removed several items. No further details are available at this time.

A 42 year old St. Marys man was apprehended shortly after allegedly robbing a bank in St. Marys. Edward Joshnick has been charged by city police for taking nearly $2,300 from the St. Marys Plaza National City Bank. Joshnick has been arraigned and is currently in the Elk County prison in lieu of $250,000.

Director of the Eldred World War II Museum, Jay Tennies, will speak today at 7:00pm on his recent trip to Russia. The public is invited.

There will be a meeting on Thursday, November 3rd to discuss the by-laws of the Smethport Area Chamber of Commerce. This meeting will be held at 10:00am at the Country Porch. Anyone with interest is invited to attend.

Some time between 11:30pm on the 31st and 7:30am on Tuesday someone egged and scratched a 99 Mercury Cougar owned by Timothy Kimball of Eldred as it was parked on the Barnum Road. Those having information about this incident are asked to contact Kane PSP.

Criminal mischief Halloween evening in Ulysses Township was investigated by Coudersport troopers. Sandra Cramer of Harrison Valley told troopers that around 10:30pm someone smashed pumpkins on vehicles in the vicinity of 2nd Street, Apt. 2. While Cramer was traveling on Route 49 a pumpkin also hit her vehicle.

Theft in Ulysses between 5:15 and 8:30pm on Monday is still under investigation. Coudersport based state police tell us someone removed a woman’s windbreaker, a Verizon cell phone and a digital camera from a stroller owned by Richard Nelson as he took his kids trick or treating. The items were later found.

Theft from a purse in Ridgway between the 30th and the 31st remains under investigation by state police there. Jennifer Cornwall told troopers someone removed approximately $750.00 in cash from an envelope in her purse. Those having information about this theft are asked to contact troopers.

The passing of bad checks in late August has a known 21 year old St. Marys resident in trouble with state police in Ridgway. The suspect passed a check on to Friday’s Gas and Oil in the amount of $16.00. A summary citation was filed.

And theft by deception on October 21st remains under investigation by troopers in Ridgway. A Kersey resident told troopers that she saw an ad in a newspaper for a loan. After contacting the suspect, money was exchanged and the loan was not received. The investigation continues.

Those traveling early this morning through Port Allegany are urged to use caution. As of news time, the borough was without electric. No further details to the cause are available at this time.

Judge John Yoder denied Terry Bundy’s request for a reduced bail as stated in a filing dated November 1st. It was also argued during the most recent meeting on whether or not Bundy has been held longer than is allowed under speedy trial rules. Yoder stated that only 332 days count under that condition. Bundy is a suspect in the shooting case where Bundy supposedly shot at David Kelley in May of 2004.

State Senator Joe Scarnati will hold constituent hours at the Bradford Chamber office from 11:00am until Noon.

And St. Bonaventure University will honor veterans with a ceremony on the 11th. Ceremonies get underway at 11:11am at the Veteran’s Memorial outside the west entrance to the Reilly Center arena. The public is invited to attend.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was reported quiet on area streets and highways. There were no related incidences to report either.

Several men possibly involved in camp burglaries in the area are being searched for by authorities. As of Monday evening, Kane troopers were searching for the men on foot, with help from bloodhounds from Emporium, the assistance of Port Allegany Borough Police and a chopper from Latrobe. One of the men being looked for is Donald Riley, according to Kane PSP. Those involved may be armed, so caution is advised. If you have further details about this incident you’re asked to contact Kane based state police or phone 911.

No new details are available at this time pertaining to the fire which resulted in the death of Kane resident Robert Asel. The home Asel resided in was owned by owned by DuBois resident Roberta Smith. Smoke inhalation is the listed cause of death and the investigation continues. 6 fire departments were on scene to bring the fire under control and extinguish it.

Representative Martin Causer will hold constituent hours Thursday from 9:00 to 10:00am at the Emporium Borough office, from 10:30 to 11:30 at the Port Allegany Borough office and from 12:30 to 1:30 at the Eldred Borough office.

State Representative Kathy Rapp will host an inaugural Senior Expo in Kane from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the Community Center. A variety of state and private agencies will be on hand. Rapp has stated that due to the expo, her satellite hours in Marienville will be canceled.

And Senator Joe Scarnati announced yesterday the awarding of a grant to the North Central Industrial Technical Education Center in Ridgway. The $29,680 grant will be used for job training purposes.
