Theft from Andrews Auto Salvage in Eldred was investigated by Kane PSP after someone removed over 30 tire rims of varying sizes some time this week.
Criminal mischief Wednesday at the home of Debbie Taft was investigated by Kane troopers after someone pushed over a section of fence on the Taft property. A brick was also thrown through a window at the victim’s residence.
Harassment after an incident between two Smethport residents has left one with possible charges after an incident early yesterday morning. Kane based state police tell WQRM Brent and Sherry Vossler were involved in an altercation when Sherry Vossler reportedly used a handbag to strike the victim in the head. The victim was also struck in the head with the fist of the accused during the incident. Charges are pending.
Over a month after the death of former Coudersport resident Patrick Ryan and no cause of death has been determined. Ryan’s body was found in the Clarion area after he went missing in August.

The ANF has announced that several gated roads will be open for hunting season. Roads are expected to be open from October 1st until January 15th.
A Wellsville resident and firefighter has been charged after having inappropriate contact with a minor. According to a report in the Bradford Era, James R. Davison, 35, has been put on suspension by the fire department after an incident at the firehall.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a one vehicle accident yesterday left a Kane resident with minor injuries as a result of a truck rolling. Ridgway based state police tell us Elizabeth McClain, 55, was operating a 2002 Ford Ranger in a southerly direction on Route 948 when the truck left the roadway. The McClain vehi
cle then traveled 100 feet before it began to roll, according to troopers. The truck rolled once, coming to rest in its wheels. McClain, who suffered only minor injury, was cited for careless driving.Bad check writing in Brockport is under investigation by Ridgway troopers after someone wrote 5 bad checks to the Brockport Army and Navy Club. $500 in bad checks were written for the purpose of playing a game of chance.
Criminal mischief between Tuesday and Wednesday of this week remains under investigation by Coudersport PSP. Edward Baer, III of Roulette told troopers that sometime Tuesday or Wednesday someone punctured the tires of Baer’s 2003 GMC Truck. Those having information about this incident should contact Coudersport based state police.
Kane based state police report that they investigated a criminal mischief incident after someone took a blunt object to two out buildings owned by Keating Township. The incident occurring between the 21st and yesterday caused $80.00 in damages.
A collision Tuesday in Galeton borough was responded to by Coudersport based state police after a 17 year old female from Galeton hit her 95 Ford Escort’s brakes to avoid an animal. The car skidded across the center line where it hit the guiderail and bounced off the same before traveling backward and striking an embankment. The driven received only minor injuries as a result.
Two Roulette residents were involved in a physical altercation. According to Coudersport based state police, Bradley Jones and Courtney Dangro were involved in the altercation when Dangro was arrested and arraigned on harassment, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct charges while Jones was cited for harassment.
Coudersport based state police tell us that keys were found in front of the former Jack’s Restaurant on Route 6. To claim, phone the barracks and describe.
Criminal mischief between September 24th and the 25th in Fox Township is still under investigation by Ridgway based state police. According to troopers, Jason Chicola of St. Marys was the victim after someone broke the windshield of his 88 Dodge CP.
And burglary between the 16th and the 25th of this month remains under investigation by Ridgway PSP, who tell WQRM someone gained entry into a building owned by DCNR. The investigation continues and nothing was reportedly disturbed.
The former owned of Zippo Manufacturing Bradford has passed away. Paul C Duke III died while in Watertown, NY after a short illness. Duke, the grandson of George G. Blaisdell was 52.
Union City resident William Menoher, who died after a fall in the Rimrock area on Tuesday died while sightseeing, according to reports. Warren County Coroner Jeremiah Borden stated that Menoher possibly had stepped or jumped over a crevice before losing his footing and falling.
In a schedule change, the Smethport Varsity Soccer game today is set for 6:15, not 4:15. Of course, the game will be held weather pending.
And officials with Kane Community Hospital have mentioned that the flu clinic set for Saturday has been canceled. The decision to cancel the clinic was made after it has become unclear if there will be enough vaccine available.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…all was reported quiet by state police barracks in the WQRM listening area. There were no related incidents to report either.
Several state police barracks in our listening area are investigating thefts. Kane based state police tell us some time between the 20th and yesterday Sena Kean Manor or a resident of Sena Kean gave a large amount of money for Katrina relief efforts. No further details are available and the investigation continues.
Burglary in Hector Township between September 10th and Monday remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police. Some time over the reported period of time someone entered the residence of Kevin Kulish of Sabinsville, removing $15.00 in quarters, 3 Motorola hand held radios, 2 high school rings along with a fraternity pin and a digital camera. Value of the stolen items is said to be $3,716. Anyone having information about these missing items is asked to contact Coudersport PSP.
Theft from property owned by Helen Matthews of Ulysses remains under investigation by Coudersport troopers at the Denton Hill barracks. Between May 1st and September 26th a 22 caliber, Model 929,H and R handgun with a 6 inch barrel was taken. Those having information about this crime are asked to contact Coudersport based state police.
According to Warren based state police they are investigating the death of Union City resident Clyde Menoher, 58. Menoher was in the Rim rock area of Warren County around 1:30pm, Tuesday, when he reportedly fell to his death after slipping from a ledge.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ridgway Township was the victim of a reported theft being investigated by Ridgway troopers. Between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning someone used a blunt object to force open an interior door at the church. It’s not known at this time if anything was taken. The investigation continues.
Burglary at Wilcox Beverage in Jones Township is still under the investigation of Ridgway based state police. They tell WQRM between Sunday and Monday someone gained entry by breaking a window. Once inside an undetermined amount of cash was removed. Those with information are asked to contact the barracks at 776-6136.
And theft by unlawful taking between last Thursday and Friday at Sandy Beach Park in Elk County resulted in over $2,000 being taken from a concession stand. Also taken was 5 gallons of gasoline and a surveillance system.
A Salamanca man was sentenced after assault on an officer November 14th. Christopher Light, 25, was given one to three years in prison for the attempted assault of the sheriff’s deputy. He was also fined for driving while impaired, according to DA Edward Sharkey.
A hospital in the area will hold an open house October 4th. Olean General is holding the event to showcase treatment procedures and products used in quality of life instances. Hours are 9:00am to 1:00pm at 515 Main Street. Physicians and pharmacy staff will be available to answer questions at the event, which is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
The need for additional paid coaches for Port Allegany School sports was discussed during the Monday evening meeting. With only 4 board members present, talks surrounded adding coaches to football and softball. Superintendent Tony Flint mentioned during the meeting his desire to add the positions in March. A decision won’t be made, however, until a board meeting can be held with more members present.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…several accidents in McKean County yesterday were responded to and investigated by Kane troopers.
At 5:00pm along Route 6, Jedidia Ingalls, 19, of Coudersport was traveling east in a 97 Chevrolet Sedan when the operator traveled onto the south berm, striking an embankment. Ingalls received only minor injuries.
A crash along Route 346 just before noon was responded to by troopers from Kane. They tell WQRM Christopher Eaton, 18, of Eldred was operating a vehicle eastbound when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, sending the vehicle off Route 346 and into a ditch. Only minor injuries were reported.
And A crash on Route 46, south of Farmers Valley at 11:00am involved Erma Cox, 43, of Custer City. Kane based state police state that Cox was traveling south when she lost control of her vehicle, causing the vehicle to turn counter clockwise before it left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. Cox was not injured, according to troopers.
Simple assault yesterday afternoon in Brockport was responded to by Ridgway PSP. Gregory Burns, 38, and Samantha Powers, 32, both Brockport residents were involved in a verbal argument before the incident turned physical and Burns was arrested. Powers sustained minor injuries. This investigation continues.
A Kane juvenile was located late yesterday after a bulletin was issued about her whereabouts. Kane based state police tell us 16 year old Kimberly Critelli left the Kane High School around 9:30am.
Another attempt to remove a long-time attorney’s daughter from the ballot as Potter County DA has failed. Residents of Potter County filed a complaint seeking to have Fink removed, and current DA Jeff Leber named. The turmoil surrounding Fink is supposedly over her qualifications for the position.
The investigation into the recent break-in at the McKean County Courthouse continues by Borough Police. Minor damage to the office of the treasurer was sustained. Those with information about this incident, occurring over the Labor Day weekend are asked to contact borough police or phone McKean County 911.
Those with Cellular One service can now make calls in Bradford. The company erected a tower which will increase coverage in that area, and specifically the downtown area.
And although Charlie Brown may not find the great pumpkin there, Pumpkinville is now open for the season. Located along Sugartown Road, hours at Pumpkinville are set for 9:00am to 7:00pm daily through Holloween.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…Coudersport based state police tell us Martin George, 48, of Ulysses backed his 87 Chevrolet S-10 out of a private parking space along the eastern edge of Center street in Ulysses on Sunday around 2:00pm. Backing across Center Street, George hit an unattended vehicle. The accused the fled without leaving information for the owner of the 2006 Audi hit hit. Summary charges are being filed.
An accident Saturday evening along Bingham Road, south of Route 646 in Keating Township was responded to by Kane troopers. Daryl McElhattan, 45, of Cyclone had been traveling north on an 83 Harley-Davidson. While taking a curve in the roadway, the operator lost control of the bike, sending it onto the berm. The McElhattan bike then hit a dirt mound and went airborne before coming to rest. The investigation continues and McElhattan received only an arm injury.
DUI by Ray Carlson of Brockway was investigated by Ridgway based state police yesterday after the accused was stopped for traffic violations shortly after 3:00am.
And arson remains under investigation by Kane based state police and Smethport Borough police after an incident yesterday morning. Kane based state police tell us someone set fire to a pole building on Smethport School district property. Those with information about this incident should contact the borough or state police.
Furnishing alcohol to minors left an Erie resident in trouble with Coudersport based state police over the weekend. Troopers were tipped off to the fact that Colt Stinger, 22, of Erie had been camping along Sheldon Hollow Road in Hebron Township on Sunday. Upon the arrival of state police, it was discovered that the accused was also wanted in Erie.
Criminal mischief at the Lower Grimes Road Faith Church of Charity on Saturday is still under investigation by Kane based state police. Someone attempted entry into the chapel, damaging an exterior door. Those with information are asked to contact Kane PSP.
And retail theft at Knell’s Sporting Good shop in Port Allegany let a known juvenile in trouble with Kane based state police after an incident Saturday. The juvenile reportedly removed items from the store without paying.

Checking the PennDOT schedule for this week…Crack sealing will be done on Campbell Town road, Route 219 from the Elk Conuty line to Lantz Corners and Bells Run. Pipes will be installed on Route 59 in Marshburg and Route 219 in Custer City. In Elk County, Crack sealing will be done on Washington Street. And Shoulder Cutting will be done on Route 948, highland.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Lisa Luff, 19, of Hazel Hurst was traveling north on Lindholm Road in Hamlin Township yesterday afternoon when she attempted to negotiate a curve at a high rate of speed. Her 1991 Ford Ranger left the roadway, returned and began to slide across the northbound lane. Luff attempted to correct the problem, only to over-correct it and cause the pickup to skid across the roadway before it rolled onto its roof. Luff was ejected from the truck while the truck came to rest in the upright position. Charges are pending by Kane based state police who responded around 1:50pm.
Criminal trespass last evening in Keating Township is under investigation by Kane troopers who tell WQRM someone entered property owned by Stanley Dunn of Smethport. Once on the property, those involved entered Dunn’s truck. Nothing was reportedly taken and those involved later fled undetected. Those with information are asked to contact Kane PSP.
Theft between the 8th and the 15th in the Dagus Mines area of Elk county remains under investigation by troopers at the Ridgway barracks. A report issued states that someone the residence of Candace Haight, taking a .357 snubnose hand gun owned Haight, who is a Dagus Mines resident.
Those living in Coudersport and within 50 yards of the water system can hook into it without paying the tap-in fee. Through November 21st, those utilizing a spring or well can register to be hooked into the town water supply. The no-fee period continues until Jun 1st of next year when residents will again need to pay a tap-in fee. To register, contact the water authority at 201 South West Street.
With rumors surrounding the plight of the Bradford Mall, changes at the Shops at Foster Brook and the Rollerdrome are on their way. Changes at the Rollerdrome site may include a Rent-A-Center and another unnamed outfit.
And Smethport is set to be the next in line on the "Our Town" series on WPSX-TV. The 34th of its kind, the Smethport segment will need 25 to 30 volunteers to tape segments about Smethport. Those interested will need to attend a pre-production session prior to the October 22nd production date.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a 16 year old Coudersport resident was traveling south on Summit Road last evening when the operator attempted to miss a deer entering the roadway. Coudersport based state police tell us the operator then lost control before the vehicle slid across the roadway, off the east berm and into a ditch. As the vehicle entered the ditch it rolled onto its roof. The driver and 2 juvenile passengers were all wearing seatbelts. No injuries were reported.
Burglary in Port Allegany remains under investigation by Kane state police after someone entered the residence of Laurie Crawford. Once inside those involved stole a glass bank with about $120.00 in change.
Theft from Community Resources for Independence of Port Allegany between May 28th and June 4th remains under investigation after 2 suspects filed time cards stating they worked hours which were actually not worked.
Harassment yesterday evening in Genesee Township left 32 year old Candice Stone of Genesee charged in connection with an incident involving a female juvenile. Stone, according to Coudersport troopers, subjected the victim to unwanted physical contact. Charges are being filed.
A 37 year old Eldred resident is being charged in connection with the sale of tobacco to a minor. Kane based state police recently investigated an incident where Carol Furman gave her 14 year old son cigarettes.
Bradford Regional Airport may soon being welcoming another carrier if all goes as planned and AirLink Express begins service. AirLink would offer service to destinations within the state only. Expansion into Maryland and the Washington areas by AirLink may also be a future possibility.
Those interesting in helping with clean up at Kinzua Bridge State Park are asked to contact the park office in Johnsonburg. DCNR is looking for volunteers to transplant saplings and erect a Kestral box. Appropriate clothing should be worn.

Kane based state police tell us they took 3 individuals into custody Tuesday afternoon after a traffic a stop was conducted on Route 219 in Se
rgeant Township. Aubrey Sapeilak, 28, and Sherrell Clemons, 31, both Weedville residents and St. Marys resident 30 year old Kerry Kremple were all taken into custody around 2:16pm. Sapeilak and Kremple were both found to be in possession of a controlled substance while Clemons was wanted by Ridgway based state police and arraigned in Elk County. Kremple and Sapeilak were both charged and released.Harassment by a 16 year old Ulysses resident on Monday against Dennis Pollock of Ulysses was investigated by Coudersport based state police recently. Around 8:40pm on Monday the accused reportedly walked past the home of Dennis Pollock, yelling obscenities and throwing rocks at the victim. A summary citation was filed.
Two Eldred residents have been charged with disorderly conduct after an incident in the borough on Monday. Kane based state police state that Ronald Reynolds and Shirley Lozada were both cited after Reynolds was playing music too loud and Lozada was banging on the wall.
And Emporium based state police tell us criminal mischief between Sunday and Monday left a 90 Chevy truck owned by Brett Studer with damage after the actor or actors used a sharp object to scratch both doors and the front fender.
Tuesday morning saw the demolition of the Castle Motel begin in Allegany. The Great Hall of the Castle Restaurant was host to many political parties, and visits from government officials over the years. According to a former Olean resident the site was the former location of a gas station.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…we’re told by state police in the listening area that all was quiet overnight and yesterday. There were no related incidences to report either.
Theft by unlawful taking or disposition between Friday and yesterday remains under investigation by Kane troopers. Double J Resources of Bradford told troopers that someone took 4 gas powered Honda engines, valued at over $2,400. The engines were on property in Hamlin Township. Those with information about this theft are asked to contact Kane PSP.
Leo Henigin of Latrona Heights was the victim of a reported burglary between September 5th and the 19th. Coudersport based state police report that between the dates reported someone entered Henigin’s seasonal residence just east of Reed Run Road in Keating Township. Once inside those involved rummaged through the cupboards. Entry was gained after a window was broken and it is unknown at this time if anything is missing. Those with information are asked to contact Coudersport based state police.
A missing juvenile from Fox Township was found Sunday and returned home. This according to Ridgway PSP who investigated.
DUI by Joseph Hogan of Plumville left the defendant cited by Coudersport based state police after they observed the accused on Nelson Run Road on Wharton Township on Saturday. Hogan was initially stopped for traffic violations around 1:46am when troopers observed the accused in an intoxicated state.
And Jessica Lawrence, 25, an Olean resident, was shot Monday morning during an attempted robbery. Lawrence had arrived at her employer, United Parcel Service, to find an intruder who demanded cash and Lawrence’s car. Those with information about this incident are asked to contact police.
Harassment against Ludlow resident Margaret Fox by a known female was investigated by Kane based state police. According to the report given, the accused repeatedly phoned the victim between Saturday and Monday. Criminal charges are pending.
Between Friday and Monday, someone entered the home of Joshua Hakes of Eldred. Kane based state police tell WQRM several items were taken at the time. Anyone with information is asked to phone Kane PSP.
And criminal mischief Saturday remains under investigation by Ridgway based state police after someone pulled a flag pole and mount from the residence of Vicki Romanic of Kersey. Estimated damage
is $50.00.Few were in attendance as the Port Allegany School Board met to discuss renovations at the elementary school. Also discussed during the 2 hour meeting was the high school roof and it’s condition and the need for renovations now, versus waiting as had been done with the high school.
In Smethport Borough Council news… rates for water were raised $2.00 to $20.00 for residential customers for the first 4,000 gallons used. Electric rates are expected to rise 30 percent.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…a 1999 International truck driven by 34 year old Sheffield resident William Jackson was northbound on Route 948 in Fox Township on Friday. While negotiating a right curve, Jackson lost control. The truck traveled off the roadway on the west side, back across Route 948 and then off the east side at which time the truck rolled onto the driver’s side. Jackson sustained minor injuries as a result.
Kane based state police tell us a hit and run occurred yesterday morning in Keating Township as someone traveling north on Route 46 lost control of their vehicle while rounding a curve. The unknown vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole before fleeing the scene. Those with information are asked to contact troopers in Kane.
Friday saw an accident along Route 6, ½ mile east of Route 44 in Sweden Township investigated by Coudersport based state police around 3:00pm. We’re told the crash occurred as Warren White, 81, of Coudersport was attempting a right turn onto Route 6 from Route 44. He failed to see an 89 Nissan Pathfinder driven by John Wunderlich of Boyertown at which time the White vehicle struck the Wunderlich vehicle at the right rear. Both operators escaped unharmed.
A vehicle fire on Route 948 in Ridgway Township on Thursday was responded to by troopers there shortly after 6:30pm. Shiloh Siegel, 22, of St. Marys was operating a 91 Ford Tempo when the car fire started for unknown reasons. Siegel escaped without injury.
Burglary at the Force Garage in Saturday remains under investigation. Ridgway troopers tell us someone entered the garage between 1:00am and 6:00am, removing a large amount of hand tools with a value of $2,500. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact Ridgway state troopers.
Anthony Muccio of Weedville was the victim of a reported act of criminal mischief which occurred between Friday and Saturday. Ridgway based state police investigating tell WQRM someone knocked over a deer statue in the victim’s yard. Any one with information about this crime should contact Ridgway PSP.
Simple assault against Loretta Smith of Sweden Valley occurred on Thursday, according to our checks with state police in Coudersport. During this incident Smith made comments about the mess at the residence of Kip Carpenter, who is the victim’s nephew. At this time, Carpenter bragged Smith by the arm, shoving her to the floor. The accused has been charged with simple assault and harassment. He was then arraigned before on call Judge Easton, with bail set at $1,000.
DUI on Thursday in Sweden Township, Potter County left Cape Coral resident 37 year old Shawn Plotts in trouble with Coudersport based state police after troopers observed the accused committing traffic violations around 11:30pm. Plotts was stopped at which time he was arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Burglary on the Phoenix Road, 3 ½ miles north of the Tioga county line in Pike Township remains under investigation by state police based in Coudersport. Someone entered property owned by Dwayne Weaver of Sabinsville between 6:00 and 10:00pm. Taken were an enduro motorcycle, a rifle and several power tools. Those with information are asked to contact Coudersport based state police at 274-8690.
Those with information about the whereabouts of 19 year old Bradford resident Heidi Schimp is asked to contact Kane based state police. Schimp was last seen on August 20th around 4:30pm.
The investigation surrounding the death of 39 year old Anthony Iannetta of Townsend, DE continues by Coudersport based state police. Troopers tell WQRM Iannetta was found at the Almont Rod and Gun
Club in Pleasant Valley Township by fellow hunters on Saturday. The exact cause of death is unknown, pending an autopsy scheduled for Sunday.A missing ATV owned by Thomas Krise was taken sometime Thursday or Friday of last week. Ridgway based state police state that the missing ATV is a 2002 Honda TRX400 EX, red in color.
Harassment on a bus between 2 known juveniles on Wednesday of last week was investigated by Ridgway troopers. The accused will be charged with harassment after poking the victim and calling him names.
Underage consumption by 2 Eldred residents was investigated by Kane troopers Saturday as Zachary Johnston and Tyler Ferguson, both 18, were both observed consuming alcoholic beverages.
A Portville family was left homeless after a fire yesterday. The American Red Cross is helping the family of Kylie Reisman after the Reisman home was a total loss following the evening fire, which also brought out trucks from Eldred, Olean, and Allegany. The cause of the fire was listed as a faulty electrical clothes dryer.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…Christopher Lockamy, 20, of Sheffield as involved in a collision yesterday along Route 59. Kane troopers tell WQRM Lockamy was traveling west when his 94 Ford Truck left the roadway, impacting the end of a guiderail. The truck then overturned, coming to rest on its roof.
Lockamy was wearing his seatbelt and received no injuries.And Coudersport based state police continue their investigation into damage sustained to a storm door on the residence of Barbara White of Harrison Valley. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Coudersport based state police.
A break-in at the County Treasurer’s office remains under investigation by Smethport authorities. The first floor courthouse office was entered over the Labor Day weekend. No further details are available at this time. Those with information about this crime are asked to contact Smethport borough police or phone 911.
Additional time to prepare for a brief in the convicted cop killer, Timothy Williams, is being requested by Attorney Sam Stretton. From Coudersport, Williams was convicted by a Mifflin County jury on a third-degree murder charge.
And the investigation into the death of former Coudersport resident Patrick Ryan continues by Clarion authorities. Ryan, who was last seen a month ago was found in forest County by road worker stopped in the area to eat lunch.
Checking the Penn DOT schedule for the coming week…in McKean County, crack sealing will be done on Campbelltown Road, Route 219 from the Elk County line to Lantz Corners, Route 446 Farmer’s Valley Road to Larabee Y and Route 46 Farmer’s Valley to Columbia Hill. Hot patching will be done on Route 155 from Port Allegany to the Potter County line. Ditch cleaning will be done on McCrea Brook and Bells Run.
In Elk County, ditch cleaning will be done on Washington Street and Trout Run. And patching will be done on Route 255.
Representative Martin Causer will present a check for $10,000 to the Potter County Education Council and the McKean County Housing and Redevelopment Authority, to help support the new PCEC Port Allegany office. The grant will be presented today at noon at the Port Allegany PCEC office at 8 North Main Street.

Harassment in Coudersport Monday was investigated by state police there. They tell us James Hosley, 62 subjected Alison Hosley, 18, to unwanted physical contact. The accused was cited.
The death of Nicole Smith, 33, is under investigation by Coudersport based state police after the deceased was found recently in her residence in Ulysses. No further details are available at this time.
And charges were filed against Kevin David, 38, of Huntsville, TX after he used credit card information for Arthur David of Austin on several occasions between April and July of last year.
Eldred Borough will soon have a new garbage collector. During a meeting held Wednesday, Otto Township supervisors agreed to terms in an ordinance. In other news, speeding was discussed, with officials discussing the fact that motorists have been seen going 60 to 70 in a 45 MPH zone.
Ridgway borough has hired HyettPalma of Alexandria, VA. The firm will assist the borough in revitalization of
the downtown area.Representative Joe Scarnati will hold hours for constituents today in Lewis Ruin at their Borough office from 10:00 to 11:00am.

Burglary yesterday in Ulysses remains under investigation by troopers in Coudersport. According to their report, Marsha Ostrander told troopers that some time between 9:00am and 11:45am someone cut a hole in her window screen, reached inside her home and removed her wallet from an end table. Those with information are asked to contact Coudersport troopers at 274-8690.
Burglary at Boy Scout Lodge 524 in Austin remains under investigation. Coudersport based state police who are investigating tell WQRM someone arrived by ATV, kicked in the front door and then departed with a 1500 watt Homelite Generator and a Weedeater brand weedeater. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Coudersport based state police.
Criminal mischief Monday between Kinney Road and Commercial Street in Genesee Township was investigated by Coudersport troopers as someone damaged the rear tire on a 2003 lawn mower owned by Gary Hughes.
Amber Gorske of Ridgway is the victim of theft by deception after someone removed a credit card from her wallet, making several unauthorized charges in several locations. Troopers in Ridgway investigated.
A burglary on Monday or Tuesday in Fox Township remains under investigation by Ridgway PSP. Patrick Sheeley was the victim as someone broke a window at his camp on Raven Run Road. Troopers tell us 3 bottles of alcohol and a boom box stereo were also taken. Value of the stolen and damaged items is approximately $280.00. those with information about this incident are asked to phone Ridgway PSP or Elk County Crimestoppers.
Theft Monday in Eulalia township is still under investigation according to Coudersport troopers. PSP there continue their investigation into the theft of a 2002 Honda CR125 motorcycle owned by Kenneth Gee of Coudersport. Those involved entered the victim’s garage between 4:00pm and 5:00pm before getting on the bike and driving off. Those with information about this theft should contact Coudersport based state police.
And retail theft on the 4th is still under investigation by Ridgway troopers after a known 28 year old female took merchandise valued at $648.00. Those with information about this incident should contact Ridgway troopers at 776-6136.
Ridgway Borough Council let Adelphia officials have it during a meeting held Tuesday. Complaints about reception and lack of certain channels surrounded what turned into an opposed council. The lack of an Erie channel and reception problems gave council reasons to not sign a new 15-year agreement with the cable company now under Chapter 11 and in the middle of being purchased.
A grant has been awarded to the McKean County Historical Society for $10,000. The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum commission awarded 48 grants, totaling over $405,000 this year.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an accident last evening in Highland Township, Elk County around 8:30pm was responded to by Ridgway based state police. Todd Winkie, 34, of Bradford was traveling north on Route 66 while Barry Eiler, 48, of Eau Claire was traveling south. The Winkie vehicle crossed the center line, cau
sing Eiler to swerve in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision. Eiler’s 95 International Tractor Trailer was struck causing the Elier 2005 Chevrolet Truck to spin clockwise, coming to rest in a ditch. After impact, the Eiler tractor trailer continued for a short distance before coming to rest in a ditch. Winkie then fled the scene only to be located later and charged with DUI and several summary traffic violations.Terroristic threats yesterday in Byrnedale left Mario Sidelinger charged with terroristic threats and disorderly conduct after the accused shot a pellet gun from his property toward property owned by Debra Dismore. During the incident, Sidelinger also made terroristic threats toward James Geelan of Byrnedale once he was on the scene.
Retail theft at Wal-Mart in St. Marys remains under investigation by state police in Ridgway after a known female took merchandise from the store valued at $219.48. The investigation continues and those with information are asked to contact troopers.
Disorderly conduct in Smethport left Steven Raszman, 24 charged after a disturbance on Sunday, between 3:30 and 4:00am. Kane based state police found the accused drunk. He also was cited for yelling and waking Cheryl Hamilton of Smethport.
Harassment Saturday in Lewis Run left Matthew Simmons of Lewis Run charged after he reportedly engaged in an argument with Michelle Wiles of Lewis Run. Kane based state police have charged the accused.
And age compliance checks will be conducted by state police at establishments selling alcohol in McKean and nearby Warren County. Individuals between 18 and 20 will be utilized in an attempt to purchase alcohol.
And a pay raise for Bradford Area School district Superintendent Sandra Romanowski was approved Monday by the board. The increase represents 1.5 percent, which will give her a salary of $101,500 per year.
A Make A Wish benefit will be held this Saturday from 8:00pm to 12:00am at the Port Allegany Moose Lodge. Cost is $3.00 for a single and $5.00 for couples.

On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…DUI along Jo Jo Road in Wetmore Township left Leo Niklas of James City charged after he swerved into oncoming traffic, and nearly hit a marked patrol car driven by Trooper Race of the Kane based state police barracks. Troopers tell us Niklas was cited for DUI, meeting a vehicle proceeding in opposite direction, careless driving and restraint systems.
A one vehicle accident yesterday afternoon on Rew Hill in Otto Township was responded to by Kane based state police at 1:20pm. A report given states that Joseph Dzubak of Port Allegany and his passenger, Smethport resident Marcy Raydo were traveling north on a motorcycle operated by Dzubak. Dzubak lost control of the bike while rounding a curve in Route 46, 9.7 miles north of Smethport. The bike hit the guiderail before both the driver and the passenger were thrown from the 99 Suzuki. Dzubak and Raydo were both flown to ECMC in Buffalo with serious injuries.
A vehicle crash near James City in Highland Township, Elk County was responded to by Ridgway troopers yesterday morning. Just before 1:00am Ronald Johnson was operating an 88 Oldsmobile Cutlass northbound when he lost control behind another vehicle due to dusty conditions. The Johnson vehicle then left the roadway and entered a ditch. Johnson was cited for not driving at a safe speed. The operator was not injured. His 2 passengers, 23 year olds April Johnson and Jason Johnson both received minor injuries. Seatbelts were worn by all occupants.
Greg Meeker of Kane told troopers there someone attempted burglary into his home between this past Friday and Saturday. Those involved attempted to remove lower floor windows and screens. Unable to do so, they fled undetected.
And Amy Beach of Eldred told Kane PSP someone damaged the windshield on her 93 Ford Crown Victoria while is was parked on Chris Drive in the borough.
Coudersport based state police tell us Eva Buckley of Ulysses found a bicycle in the borough on Saturday. Those with information are asked to contact them at 274-8690.
Harassment on Saturday left the accused charged with bothering Michelle Wiles of Lewis Run. Kane troopers tell WQRM Matthew Simmons, 24, of Lewis Run was involved in an argument with the victim around 3:00pm before he reportedly struck her and then pushed her over a porch railing.
Criminal trespassing on Friday occurred around 1:20pm as a known person entered the home of Ken Nesbitt of Byrnedale. Ridgway based state police tell us the known person then returned.
And criminal mischief between Thursday and Friday of last week was investigated by Emporium troopers after someone broke a mailbox on property owned by Delores Smith of Huckleberry Circle.
In a 9 to 0 vote, Kane School board members approved a new contract Thursday evening. President Mike Szymanski said the contract was approved Wednesday. In the new contract, wage increases were included and teachers are responsible for more of their medical coverage.
A Weston Mills fire Sunday evening was caused by an electrical short in a light socket. The home owned by Herce Alcocer sustained damage to the attic area, where the fire originated.
A basic rescue course will be held in Harrison Valley beginning October 23rd. Hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Subsequent classes will take place on October 29th, November 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th. Pre-registration through the Potter County EMA is required by October 14th.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an unknown white male on a 4-wheeler eluded police from Coudersport yesterday along Wildcat Road near Route 44. State police tell us the individual was operating the ATV on a road not designated for such vehicles. When the troopers attempted a traffic stop, the operator refused to stop, driving off the roadway and into the woods. The ATV was later located and impounded. Anyone with information is asked to contact Coudersport based state police.
Property has been found by Kane based state police. Troopers tell WQRM camping equipment was found in the Sackett Hollow area along Route 46. For more information contact PSP in Kane.
Theft between July 3rd and this past Sunday was investigated by Kane based state police after someone entered a garage owned by Stephen Colella of Lewis Run. Once inside those involved removed a 20 inch Husqvarna chainsaw, an 18 inch Stihl chainsaw, a Dewalt jig saw and a Dewalt electric drill.
Bad check writing at Delullo’s Supermarket in Weedville was investigated after a known female passed the check for $96.16. Ridgway troopers investigated.
Wal-Mart was the victim of bad check writing after a known St. Marys individual wrote 2 checks for a total of $140.40 in May.
And bad check writing at Wal-Mart in April was investigated by Ridgway based state police. A known Emporium person wrote a check for $121.37.
The former Castle property, including the restaurant and cinema is set to be demolition. Details were not given as to if the cinema and former restaurant, purchased by St. Bonaventure University in August of 2003. The current owner, COR Development Inc., will be doing necessary work such as asbestos removal in the coming weeks.
And a chicken barbecue at the Norwich Volunteer Fire Department is slated for Saturday, from Noon until 5:00pm.

Harassment yesterday between 8:00am and 3:00pm occurred by phone as Michael Cunningham of Smethport supposedly contacted the victim, Todd Ladlee, also a Smethport resident. According to Kane based state police, obscene language was used, in addition to the victim being threatened.
Ralph young, 62, of Austin was the victim of a reported incident of criminal mischief yesterday between 3:20 and 4:30pm. Coudersport based state police continue their investigation into damage received to the Young’s mailbox by an unknown person. Anyone with information is asked to contact troopers.
Burglary between Tuesday and Wednesday remains under investigation by Coudersport based state police. Alb Glover of Austin told troopers that someone stole 8-10 bottles of whiskey, approximately $50-$60 from a donation box, 30-40 CDs, a Remington double filet knife and a large beverage cooler. The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact Coudersport PSP.
Criminal mischief occurred in Kersey on Tuesday, according to our checks with Ridgway troopers. Jordan Ginther, of Kersey, told troopers that the left rear tire on his 86 Dodge truck was punctured. Those with information are asked to contact troopers in Ridgway.
A prowler in the West Bingham road area of Genesee Township was seen by a juvenile there while they were at home. The suspect was seen pulling over their vehicle before exiting and then knocking on the side of the residence before fleeing. Anyone with information about this incident should call Coudersport based state police.
Crain Holterback of Kersey will be charged by Ridgway PSP after he eluded them on Tuesday in Jay Township. Holterback was seen by troopers making an illegal pass on Route 255 while operating an unregistered Yamaha motorcycle. When approached by troopers, Holterback refused to stop, continuing west on Gardner Hill Road and then onto Clearcut Road. Once on Clearcut Road, the suspect passed an police cruiser with it’s lights activated before he turned onto South Kersey Road and landed in a ditch.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…3 accidents yesterday were investigated by troopers in the WQRM listening area. Coudersport based state police responded to an accident along West Bingham Road, 2 miles south of Genesee around 6:45pm. Michael Grimes, 543, of Genesee was operating a 2005 Harley-Davidson when his bike struck a deer in the roadway. Grimes lost control before being thrown from the bike. The operator and bike then skidded approximately 180 feet before coming to rest. Griems was taken to Jones Memorial in Wellsville for treatment. Grimes was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
A crash yesterday along Route 6, in East Smethport was responded to by Kane troopers around 10:24am. Troopers tell WQRM Randy
Green of Crosby was traveling west on Route 6 when his vehicle malfunctioned and crossed the center line, striking the front porch of a home owned by the Canfields. No injuries were received by Green or his passenger, Ridger Marsh, also of Crosby.Richard Gross, 36, of Jamestown was the operator of a 97 Kenworth tractor trailer involved in an accident yesterday morning. According to Ridgway PSP who responded to the scene, Gross was operating the truck when he failed to make a curve in the roadway, sending the truck and it’s 9,800 gallons of liquified petroleum gas rolling onto its side and sliding for 124 feet. Route 948, where the accident occurred, was closed for some time while crews cleaned up and removed the truck. As a precaution, homes in the area were evacuated. Charges for not driving at a safe speed are pending. Gross was taken to Elk Regional for treatment of his chest and head injuries.
A homicide/suicide occurring yesterday or Monday in Lafayette Township remains under investigation by troopers in Kane. They state that John Ash, 26, of Columbus, Oh and his 6 year old son were both fatally shot while at a camp located on the South side of Route 59, 3 miles west of Route 219.
A death in Ridgway Township remains under investigation by troopers there. Ridgway PSP are investigating the death of Ridgway resident Perry Kline, who’s body was found in a pond on state game lands on Kemmer Road. Kline was found after a search began Monday, when the victim failed to return from a goose hunting trip. The cause of death has yet to be determined, pending autopsy results.
And criminal attempt on the 3rd in Ulysses remains under investigation by troopers in Coudersport after someone shot 5 yellow paintballs at the home of Charles Bowser of north Street. Those with information are asked to contact troopers in Coudersport.
State police in Clarion tell us there are no new developments into the investigation surrounding the death of former Coudersport resident Patrick Ryan. Ryan's body was found in Forest County August 23rd after he had not been heard from for over 2 weeks. Investigators have ruled Ryan's death a homicide.
Smethport Borough Council approved during their Tuesday meeting the increase of rates associated with garbage collection by Troutman Sanitation. The cost of garbage bags will go up 50 cents to $2.00. Prices go into effect immediately. Council made plans to leave the increase in effect until prices in fuel drop.
A remembrance ceremony will be held Friday, September 9th at 12:30pm in front of Plassmann Hall at St. Bonaventure University. The public and business sector are invited to attend.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a one vehicle accident on the Barnum Road yesterday morning was responded to by Kane based state police. Troopers arrived around 7:30 to find that Randi Gotshall, 33, of Eldred had been traveling south when a deer ran out into the path of her 2000 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, causing severe damage to the car. Gotshall told troopers that she swerved, only to side-swipe a utility pole before sheering it off and disabling the vehicle. Gotshall was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured.
Simple assault yesterday in Emporium was investigated by troopers there. Emporium PSP tell WQRM Richard Thwing, 22, shoved the reporting officer when the officer attempted to separate the 2 individuals initially involved in the dispute. Thwing was sent to the Elk County jail on $5,000 bail.
A domestic dispute between a husband a wife yesterday in Shippen township was responded to by Emporium troopers around Noon. Charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
Retail theft a the Uni-Mart in Emporium Sunday was the result of a known male pumping gas and leaving without paying for the product.
And a bicycle has been recovered by troopers in Coudersport. To claim, contact the barracks by November 4th. The bike was found along Cobb Street in Ulysses.
Representative John Peterson announced recently that the application period for fire departments seeking federal grant assistance under the US Department of Homeland Security’s Fire Prevention and Safety Grants programs is September 6th through October 7th. On the traffic and accident scene over the past weekend…Kane based state police tell us they stopped 36 year old Eldred resident Karmella Lindgren yesterday morning along Route 446. Lindgren was stopped just after 2:00am for a summary traffic violation at which time troopers determined her to be DUI. Charges are pending.
Ridgway based state police tell us a crash occurred yesterday morning around 10:00am along Route 219, ¼ mile from the Toby Road in Horton Township. Paul Smithmyer, 33, of Cyclone was northbound on Route 219. While attempting a left turn in front of a southbound vehicle driven by Stanley Reinard, 64, of Hazel Hurst. The Reinard vehicle hit the Smithmyer vehicle at this time, leaving the Smithmyer 93 Hyundai with severe damage. Smithmyer and 2 juvenile passengers received injuries, while Karen Reinard, a passenger in the Reinard vehicle, received minor injuries.
A crash 1.5 miles south of Larabee on Saturday was responded to by Kane based state police around 6:00pm. Donna Stull of Eldred was traveling north when she reportedly swerved to miss another vehicle that was passing in the southbound lane. Her vehicle traveled off the roadway, hitting a fence. Stull was taken to Bradford Regional Medical Center for treatment of her minor injuries.
And a crash on the West Eldred Road on Saturday left Marcia Lamar vehicleless after her vehicle became engulfed in flames. Kane troopers responding tell us Lamar was traveling south when her vehicle malfunctioned. At about 4:23pm the operator pulled over grabbed a 3 year old passenger and escaped before the vehicle fire began. Lamar and her passenger received no injuries.
Ellwood Kuhn, 58, of Blain, PA was stopped by Coudersport based state police just before 1:00am on Friday. A report issued states that Kuhn was stopped along Route 144, Abbott Township, in Potter County. Kuhn was observed committing a traffic violation when troopers stopped the accused. At this time, it was discovered that the accused was impaired. Charges were filed.
A 14 year old Eldred resident was the victim of a reported dog attack on Saturday. Saturday evening Kane based state police responded to find that the juvenile had been bitten by an unleashed dog owned by Lucas Fisk, also of Eldred as the victim was riding his bike.
Burglary on the Shanley Road in Spring Creek Township between August 30th and this past Saturday remains under investigation by Ridgway PSP. They tell WQRM someone attempted entry into a seasonal home owned by Kenneth Rowan of Brookville. A window was forced open to gain entry and nothing was reportedly taken. Anyone with information is asked to phone troopers at 776-6136.
And theft in Byrnedale on the 3rd or 4th remains under investigation by troopers in Ridgway after someone stole a vehicle owned by Joan Hutton of Byrnedale. Hutton told troopers that she had left the keys in her vehicle, described as an 88 Buick Century, white in color with PA Registration FRH1170. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact troopers.

On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…an accident around 9:00am yesterday morning was responded to by Ridgway troopers. They tell us Louis Johnston, 72, of Johnsonburg was traveling south on Route 219 when his 2004 ford Escape crossed the northbound lane and impacted a PennDOT sign and private road sign. The car then continued south where it impacted a mailbox before continuing south again where it impacted the guiderail. After impact with the guiderail Johnston left the scene and parked his car on North Broad street in the borough. He was later taken to Elk Regional for treatment of a medical problem. No charges are pending as a medical condi
tion was the cause of this mishap.Route 872 was the scene of an accident yesterday morning around 7:00am yesterday. Couderpsort based state police responded to find that Jerry Speigel of Emporium had been traveling north when several deer entered the roadway, causing Speigel to swerve. Swerving only caused the 96 Buick Regal being operated to decend over a 12 foot embankment before the car struck several large rocks and became disabled. This investigation continues and charges were filed for not staying on a road designated for travel.
Assault yesterday at Rohrer’s Trailer Park in Roulette left Michael Milliron charged with assault and harassment after he was involved in a domestic disturbance with his wife. Unwanted physical contact was made toward Milliron’s wife, Laurie. The accused was cited by responding Coudersport PSP.
Theft from a motor vehicle between Wednesday and yesterday remains under investigation by Kane troopers. Constance Smith, 38, of Kane told troopers that sometime over the time reported someone entered her vehicle and removed approximately 86 CDs and the case those CDs were in. Those with information about this incident are asked to contact Kane troopers at 778-5555.
Criminal trespass in Emporium was investigated by state police there after someone was seen standing in the residence of Judy Studer. No further details are available.
The death of Dwayne Eckenroad, 40, of Emporium on Wednesday was ruled by Emporium troopers as a suicide, resulting from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A dog law violation in Genesee on Wednesday left Christa Stone cited for failure to contain her animal. The dog reportedly jumped repeatedly on a car, causing significant scratches. A citation was issued against the accused.
Theft from the porch of Rexford Waddington of Emporium occurred between the 30 and 31st of last month, according to investigating troopers from Emporium. An actor removed several items before leaving undetected.
Criminal mischief on Tuesday at Emporium Hardwoods left a window in the victim’s 95 Ford F-150 broken after someone smashed the same. Donald Brizenbine told troopers the incident happened between 6:00 and 8:00am.
Disorderly conduct on the 21st left Cody McLaughlin, 19, of Ridgway charged in connection with an incident which occurred around midnight in Ridgway Township. Troopers from the Ridgway barracks tell WQRM McLaughlin was cited for spinning his vehicle’s tires across a gravel parking lot owned by Samuel Bennett, also of Ridgway.
And bad check writing on June 11th has left a known person cited for passing the check written for $2,560 off to Jerry Houwer of Roulette. The check was written for lumber received from the victim. This investigation continues.

In McKean County cracking sealing will be done on Route 46 in Smethport, shouldering filling will be done on Route 321 to Route 59 in Kane, along with Wetmore Road. Hot patching will be done on Route 446 in Eldred and Side dozing will be done along Route 321 and Route 59 to Route 346. Crews will also be working on dozing along Route 219 in the Bradford area. On the traffic and accident scene overnight and yesterday…a 2 vehicle accident this morning was responded to by Ridgway PSP. Franklin Dinger, 46, of Brookville was traveling west on SR2003, while Robert Rapp, 34, was traveling south on route 219. Dinger failed to stop at a posted stop sign, at which time his vehicle entered Route 219 and into the path of the Rapp vehicle. Dinger was cited with failure to stop at a posted sign.
A hit and run yesterday afternoon remains under investigation by troopers from the Kane barracks. They tell WQRM the incident occurred as a 91 Mitsubishi Mirage was traveling north on Route 155 in Liberty Township. At the same time a 2003 Buick Lesabre driven by Robert Gustafson of Emporium was traveling Route 155 north. While both vehicles entered a passing zone, the other operator began to pass Gustafson on the left. At this time, Gustafson’s vehicle was struck by the other driver as they made a left turn into a driveway. At this time, both vehicles ended up in a ditch. The other driver then got out of their vehicle and checked on the occupants of the Gustafson vehicle before fleeing on foot. Anyone with information regarding this accident is asked to contact Kane PSP.
A burglary at the North Eulalia Baptist Church on Route 49 remains under investigation by Coudersport based PSP. Someone opened the front door by prying it open, to a cost of $1000.00 in damage. Once inside, several areas were searched before those involved left with a basket containing 40 cents. Those who may have information regarding this incident are asked to contact PSP in Coudersport.
Kane based state police also tell us they are investigating a burglary. This one at the John Lindman residence in Kane. Actors forced entry into the victim’s garage. Anyone with information is asked to contact Kane PSP.
Drug possession by Tyson Gardner, 29, of Bradford was investigated by Kane PSP yesterday. Gardner was being interviewed for another incident when he was found to be in possession of a suspected marijuana pipe. Charges are being filed.
Harassment yesterday at the Nellis residence on McCree Brook Road in Ceres Township is still under investigation by Kane PSP. They tell us an altercation between a 15 year old juvenile and a known suspect occurred around 6:30pm. At this time, the altercation turned physical. Trooper are still investigating.
Retail theft yesterday at the Acorn in Galeton is still being investigated by Coudersport troopers after someone filled their vehicle with gas and then proceeded to drive off without paying. Anyone with information is asked to contact Coudersport PSP at 274-8690.
Elk County is set to receive just over $4,000 in a state DEP check. Funds are for reimbursement of half the funds spent for collection of household hazardous waste collected during an event held.
